okay, since its been around 48 hours I hope you guys won't mind me presenting a riddle of my own. This one is probably going to be very very easy.

I am used to pull soups and water
yet I have never been used,
I shine upon a black backdrop
with my bright mates,
Men have looked upon my
fellows and me and mused,
Navigation and time and futures
can be seen in my fates.

What am I?
