In the first few weeks of Rohan, it was enough to do the 3 Hytbold ressource instances every day to have a chance on the helmet and shoulder recipes. During that period, I got 4 of them (lucky - but others got at least 1-2). Then, there must have been a stealth nerf of the drop rates, and since then, nothing. I hazard a guess that already then, the first small wave of excessive farming was going on, and that it was responsible for the lowering of the drop rates and for the incredibly small chances for the bracelet recipes.

So, don't tell me, that I should play how I like it and let other people do it their style - massive farming has an influence on all players!

Before the drop rate nerf, there was little farming. You could get the item in the normal course of dedicated play. The miserable drop rate CAUSES farming, as it's the only way to have a legitimate shot at getting the item.

(talking about farming for the recipes, not the swarms killing for the 40s a kill, that is a different animal)

Guardian. It does have ranged auto attacks but with short range and to get auto-attack to start combat you've got to click the attack icon (ie, it's not a skill button). In other words, a ranged auto-attack is very inconvenient to use to "tag" an enemy. So in some of these instances characters that are behind me can one-shot an enemy before I've gotten to it. (in the instance for snowborn with the swarm class enemies are often killed before I can tag them)

So a mounted Guardian's bow disappears? I find it hard to believe that they have a non-mounted ranged auto-attack but not when mounted.

Nope, if you have a bow equipped the Guard uses it, well mine does

That's what I figured, since that's what Champions do. So every class has a mounted, ranged auto-attack (which is to be expected).

I hope there will be considerations that include increasing the drop rate/attainability of the recipes as this will help cut back efforts to find ways to farm desirable items.

Have a scroll drop in the T2 HM chests, and that will resolve a lot of the farming.

Whilst I admit that these 24/7 farms are not nice to see please be careful with how the resolution is done because if you simply close these instances its really not gonna sit well with people as currently the only way to obtain this item is through endless farming and most players dont like doing an instance with the extremely low chance to get the item as it is

P.S i suggest it drops only from HM instance chest with a significant increase in drop rate.

Yes, guardian does. Maybe it was misread. I said guardian only has a ranged auto attack, not manual ranged skill. This is clumsy to use an auto attack in order to tag an enemy was all i was trying to point out, I did in no way mean to imply it was impossible. In those repeatable instances it can indeed by tricky to get in a tag before the enemy is dead as a guardian. (maybe other classes too, but the only ones I've tried so far have all had ranged combat skills of some form, even captain)

Yep. A non-auto attack for guards and champions would be nice.
I hit the auto attack key on my guardian and champion, but it's always a bit of a lottery. A real skill would be on hold until I am in range and then fire.

They removed the loot almost completely, at least in the mounted easterling instance. I always liked that instance, went for a few extra rounds when I did the dailies (not hardcore-farming, just a few extras) for some coin and taskboard items, now the loot is gone.

I did misread it. Sorry 'bout that.

As others have mentioned, try tab+follow+auto-attack.

Farming mobs for loot is not exploiting. Using a game mechanic to get huge loads more loot than you should be able to get is an exploit. It's not the killing the mobs that's the problem, it's how they are going about it, in their raids, that's giving them far more gold, scroll cases, and other loot than they should reasonably be able to obtain. Far more.

It's almost the same thing that these same people were doing with the other instances that were then shut down and had the loot removed from them. And when they are doing it in such a way that it makes it hard for others to legitimately do the quest, that's even worse.

It happens often enough that it seems that it's time to start taking some actions against accounts for it as well. They know what they are doing. It's time for them to start suffering some consequences for ruining the game for others. Including those who want to legitimately farm the mobs in the instances instead of doing what these guys are doing.

I'm just going to re-iterate what others have said... The solution to this problem is to give us a reasonable way of acquiring these recipes, rather than just killing tens of thousands of random level 85 mobs.

I have not read everything which has been said in this thread, but I agree with this.
If people like to spend their whole evening trying to get a certain reward I see no problem in that. This is the easy-mode variation on spending a whole evening on a tough raid.
But it should not be able to prevent questing players from advancing for a good portion of the day. Maybe update 10 and 11 will bring some relief here, with the new raids and later on the new region with probably loads of 85 mobs.
Till then I guess asking for an invite to the raid might be the best solution.

Turbine is obviously trying to give solo players the ability to obtain some of the best loot in game by having these recipes drop on the landscape. If this is path that has been set for us, then I do not see a problem with people forming groups to farm for this loot. I do have a problem with people going AFK or using bots to accomplish this, though.

It would solve a lot of problems if these recipes would be moved into the loot tables for all the level 85 instances including the new 6-mans, raids, and OD. There is already precedent for this with the recipes that only drop in Draigoch.
