Exclamation VIP Event Boost on Legendary Servers

When I was on Anor earlier today I noticed that the VIP Event Boost was active. I thought this was not suppose to be on the legendary servers.

I have long since left the legendary servers and I won't create a character to check - but is it possible you saw the event icon and assumed it gave double xp when all it gave was the 25% crafting bonus? There is no need for them to deprive you legendary folks of the crafting bonus is there?

It's giving the full benefit because during my questing I was getting allot more xp for turning in quests then I usually get. I hovered over the icon & has listed the 100% xp, crafting, etc like is usually says.

Yeah it's odd. Last VIP bonus weekend they did not include the legendary servers, this time they did.

I suspect there is a technical term for what happened.

    They screwed up.

I hope it stays on until Monday. You can always get a stone of the tortoise if you don't want the boost.

I'm not opposed to it to be honest.... I liked it that we didn't get it the first time, but even without any boosts whatsoever, and no expansion pack bonus items, you get to 50 before you finish all the content.... so it wasn't needed, and I have leveled up two characters to level 50 as a near-completionist when it comes to solo quests (not to deeds or group quests). But now that I have done that.... I am not opposed to skip a few areas here and there on my third character making the journey, so the VIP boost comes in handy.

You can always stop your experience with a tortoise stone if you want, and/or only play your cap level characters this weekend to avoid any extra experience you don't want.

I'll take the opportunity to get my third character closer to 50.... he's 30 or so now, so MAYBE i'll get close to 40 or so before the weekend ends. If I have enough time.

We deliberately didn't remove the XP this time as we are getting closer to the next Legendary server release and figured some people would like to get to their desired level a bit more quickly. We are open to the community's feedback, though.

Personally, I don't mind the temporary boost, just this one time. Its not a big deal. For my main, who is L30, I could use the boost right now. Just my $0.02

Doubt it, as on the normal severs having a Stone of Tortoise equipped means you lose the whole thing, including the crafting bonus, which is sad.

At this point, I like having the bonus, as I'm running alts around.

Yeah I think it was appropriate to keep it disabled the first time, but it is fine to keep it this time around.

That said, as you are asking for feedback, I would not enable it the FIRST time after Moria has been released, but if there is a subsequent weekend I would enable it again.

I find that I get about the speed I want on the legendary servers if I equip the tortoise while crafting, handing in tasks, and during festival. I'm only halfway to the level cap on Anor, but that's about where my kin is, so I'm happy .

I may be able to use the bonus to speed up advancement of my alt, though.

I think it's a pretty horrible idea. If I was going to come back, the last thing I'd want is to rush to cap. In any case, once the thrill of the (accidental) challenge posed by the strong DoTs was removed, I took the advice from the super helpful community building posters on this board and am playing (and paying for) something else.

Without any balancing, Moria looks to be even worse. It was absolutely gutted in the revamp and mob density was barely able to handle my auto attacking champ - there is no way it will cope with a high pop server.

And I don't suppose there has been any plan to rid Moria of the inane essence grind either?

    Since it's a switchable option, I'd support this version^^.

The reality is that even with the 40% exp debuff, if you do ALL quests, you easily get to level 50 without setting foot in Eregion just yet....

My path has typically been this: Starting zone (depending on race), onwards to Bree Lands, onwards to Lone Lands. I would imagine most people take this path. This gets you to about level 30. I like to get Eglain rep to Kindred for the Ost Guruth travel skill. That skill lands you literally in front of the stable master and has fast stable options to Rivendell as well as South Bree. So I do pretty much all quests in the Lone Lands PLUS the crafting quests to get to kindred.

My goal is also to get the "Quests in Zone" deed completed in all areas, as this gives a lot of different virtues, plus a nice boost of Lotro Points.

At that point, I usually head to Trestlebridge, and start doing much lower level quests to get the North Downs quest deed done. If you prefer, you can go straight to Esteldin, but the quest path will take you there anyways. This gets me to about 35.

Then, onwards to Evendim. You can skip the Northcotton Farm bit if this is not your style, but typically I do all the Oatbarton/Dwaling quests for all the Gift Mathoms that are 700 rep a piece. Finishing the Evendim quest deed (which I usually complete before even getting to Annunimas) and Evendim Kindred gets me to about 40.

Then, I head back to the Trollshaws. Quest start at 35, but again... I typically stay until I complete the "Final" quest deed, and then move on. This gets me to 42-43, the repeatable quests count towards the deed. Then it is on towards the Misty Mountains. Same story, I stay for all the quest deeds, then move on. Forochel is next, and this zone usually gets me all the way to 50, and there are some fun deeds to do there (such as explore deeds) for virtues.

Now I am level 50, and I have not yet done anything in Angmar.... which will be next. I DO have the high elven earring and the rohan back shield which give me an experience boost. If you do not have these items you can squeeze in Angmar for experience, actually complete Evendim and Trollshaws, which both offer way, way more quests than the deed requires..... and you will probably still get to 50 without setting a single foot into Eregion. If there are FESTIVALS, add another way of getting quick easy experience every day.

The experience boost is handy for one thing: Get it done quicker and therefore skip content you do not like.
Do you need it? Absolutely not. You get to 50 just fine doing the above, and visiting all zones.
Is it handy? Yeah, if you hate certain zones, can't stand Forochel or the eerie sounds of Angmar (and just want to do the book quest), this comes in handy.

At the end of the day.... I am not a "rush to endgame" kind of player. I love to engage in the story lines, and don't mind leveling through the same zones on several characters. I'm hoping to have 4 level 50's ready for Moria, right now I am sitting on 2 x 50, 1 x 43, 1 x 28. Other alts are all below 10, basically just gotten through the intro and that's it....

This all said: It would be nice if it was simply a choice. A toggle in the game options to "enable" or "disable" any "SSG issued bonuses" would be cool. Also, I think the "Stone of the Tortoise" should be a SKILL. You buy it from the store, and it will add a skill to your skill panel that you can toggle/untoggle at any time when you need it. People who have a stone already can turn it into a vendor in Bree somewhere in exchange for the skill.

Can't please all the people all the time.
I am fine with the extra XP. I have only gotten 2 of my 7 characters to 50.
I am sure there are folks that only have 1 character that are itching for the level cap raise. Me, I can wait.
