    Reviving Total Immersion

So, waaaay back when I first started on Crickhollow, LotRO forum member Brucha was doing several Total Immersion storylines that were a lot of fun that I played some roles in (Example- https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...ecwain-s-Folly) and I was wondering if anyone was still doing such things. If not, is there any potential interest in reviving the style?

I don't have anything particularly in mind quite yet, but I am leaning towards something smaller-scale to start since I need to get reacquainted with chat logging and everything. Don't know anything about some of the macros and stuff that Brucha used, but I can probably whip up some random dice tables once I settle on a bit more of a story.

The focus will probably be in and around Eriador, just because that's most easily accessible to all players, if anyone else wants to get involved, and would probably be set pre-War of the Ring so we can build on everything that happens as part of the storyline. Some easy ones are Bree-life during War of the Ring, others amongst the Dunedain in the North who did not manage to join the Grey Company. I've been considering recreating my old Hunter's Guild/Forester's Guild type idea from Laurelin, which could easily work as well.

I am thinking probably Landroval as the main server, just because that's where I'm most established, but Laurelin is also a possibility.

This is quite the coincidence, I was thinking about trying the same thing! I also remember Brucha's stories fondly, and like you, played a part in a few of them (https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...60#post6934860). I can't believe it's been roughly a decade, I remember interacting with the Kinship "Durin's Folk" all the way back on Crickhollow. Maybe we ran into each other, all those years ago. I don't know if anyone is doing something similar, I just came back from a long hiatus myself. I would be interested in giving it a shot, but I've moved on to Laurelin a while ago. If you do end up rolling a new character on Laurelin, I would be happy to help or participate as much as I can.

I think it's a general vibe quite a few people are starting to miss! And it's so weird it's been a decade! I was just thinking that too! And I think I remember running into you on Crickhollow! I didn't have any Dwarves at the time, but I know I crossed paths a few times.

And good to know about Laurelin! I have characters there that I've not done a lot with for a while because of time zones, but I might hop back in and take a look!

Feel free to shoot me a message on here if you do! The time zone difference takes some adjusting to get used to, but the community is great. Hopefully I'll see you around!

    Yes, I remember this well.

I have been using the same style of play for my characters in Club Eclair.

Club Eclair met up with Frecwain when he was wanting to complete the Red Maid instance and Club Eclair was in the region as we roleplayed through the quests and deeds. He told the story of our meeting here:

    https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...65#post7258265

Club Eclair is still running, as I mentioned elsewhere. My characters, at least, follow the full immersion rules. No teleporting, always eating, always walking (except when running is called for and only for short periods of time), carrying limited items, radar off, and all that.

One difference, though, is not to do permadeath. Instead, I use LOTRO's mechanic conceiving of defeat as retreating from the battle.

Other folks in Club Eclair come and go as they please. But when in session, it's walk-and-talk roleplay. That's a rule. It's useful having a large enough group such that when the story enters an instance or fellowship region there's enough folks of the correct level around to get through it.

AS mentioned below . . . or above . . . depending on the order these threads end up in, Club Eclair is on the last instance for Volume II, and will be starting Volume III at level 62 here in a few months. And there is a level 25 version as well, currently exploring the ruins of Fornost.

Feel free to call on us . . . as Frecwain did . . . if we are of comparable levels and you need help with any special tasks. Indeed, we have a whole flock of people . . . two flocks, actually . . . three if you count the Shire Moot . . . with characters all over the level map who will happily bring along somebody of the appropriate level to help with a story line.

Club Eclair roleplaying group working our way through Volume III. We are currently at Level 63 roleplaying our way through Enedwaith as we escort the Gray Company to the south (Alphred Troute, Hedgerow Shrewburrow). https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...See-the-Wizard

Club Eclair - The Bearclaws. A newer Club Eclair group that is currently at level 32 in Evendim (Trebble Strawfoot) https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...acter-RP-group.

Tiempko! Hello! I remember running into Club Eclair a few times then as well! It was really cool to see y'all meet up with Frecwain! Nice to hear y'all are still up and going! I will definitely get in touch when I get things really going. I'm leaning towards something focused around Arnor, so might run into the Shire folks or the Fornost group!

Well, you'll likely meet up with the Bearclaws . . . the younger cousin of Club Eclair. The Bearclaws are currently Level 25 and are battling the villainy of Fornost. They're disputing where to go next. There's some call to go to Evendim to the west, but the Rangers want them to go to Rivendell. Plus, they left some unfinished business in the Lone Lands concerning Ivar the Bloodhand and the Red Maid. Anyways, they are marching around the areas you are talking about and will be for a while. Bearclaws meet Saturdays at 3:00 PM . . . but, of course, with advanced warning it'll be likely that one could get a number of them to play supporting rolls in any event that comes along. (Plus, many of us, if not all of us, have other alts with levels appropriate for Arnor.)

It would be nice to see another total immersion story.

That would be great! I'll let y'all know once I get up and going again! Certain things in a small portion of Europe... threw me for a bit of a loop, so just sort of coming back now.
