For reasons beyond our control, and discussed elsewhere, we the majority of the Staff of what was the largest LotRO Discord Server, saw fit to abandon it and start anew. We will not discuss the reasons here, lets just say the server got a sudden new direction which we were unable to support.

We bid all who love the game and it's lore Welcome to our Discord Server. We are many of those who started the original Discord Server back in 2015, and we continue our work to serve the player community.

On our part we promise we will do all we can to uphold our servers dedication to the game and lore. Our focus will be on how you play the game, but also how lore influence the game. We encourage discussions about the books, movies and oncoming media, like movies or TV series, but our main topic will always be the game and help you play it.

Be that you identify yourself as a champion, minstrel, man, elf, creep, raider, casual player, artist, writer or any other of the many roles we can have in this game and community ... our intention is that you all feel welcome and open to discuss any aspect of the game with us and your peers. We are here for you, to help you, to talk with you or to just let you lurk and read. Talk to us, let us get acquainted, share your experiences, help others with challenges. We shall never impose, as long as you follow our simple conduct rules.

Ok, I've cleaned up the thread. We don't have a formal prohibition on people telling others that they have created a Discord for general community use, and the changes in the community side over the weekend in several Discords has clearly been a bit of news. It seems like the outcome is an effort by several people to launch community Discords that are in-line with what they would like to see.

What we are NOT doing is discussing the drama that happened over the weekend in someone's private Discord on the forums here. Ever.

Since these are entirely community-run Discords, it is ultimately up to each online individual to make their own informed choices about which server or servers to join. There can be more than one, and ultimately the community decides which one is the biggest. It is important to remember that none of these are official Discords run by us. If anyone from the team participates in them they may, but you will not see us running a Discord or using it as a primary tool for communication with the wider LOTRO community. At least for now!

I think recent events does raise a question as it relates to the forums, and I will move this thread. To avoid annoying some people, it is probably best to put "Discord posts" in a place outside of General. I'm a staff member of the above mentioned discord server. The One, The Only, The Original.

First, Thank you Cordovan for creating this place and organizing things! It is very much appreciated!

I look forward to welcoming back all the players that were displaced! We hope everyone will have a more positive, welcome, and enjoyable time with us, and in time, call us "home". It is my home!
