my town
As many of you may know, on April 27th a severe storm tore through the southeast leaving hundreds dead, and thousands injured and without homes. The town I live in, Tuscaloosa, AL, got hit with an EF4 that tore through the heart of the city killing 40 people, injuring 2k plus, and still have 400+ people missing and unaccounted for. Our mayor has said today that just the removal of the debris will be in the 70-100 million dollar range. This is not counting the rebuilding efforts, the shelters for the 1k plus just in our metro area, or the money going into the infrastructure of the city since two water plants went out and 30k are still left without power at the moment. The southeast needs your help!
I am not going to post anything about donations. All I ask is that you keep making it aware that your fellow Americans are suffering. I went out Saturday to deliver supplies to those in need and as cliche' as it sounds, my town looks like a warzone. Whole neighborhoods just gone. Houses with with 4 or 5 trees impaled through their brick walls. People walking around with no shoes on because they have none anymore. But with all the destruction around us we also saw the human spirit at work. Neighbors helping neighbors. Kids and parents playing basketball because their goal somehow was left standing while half their house is gone. College kids lined up for a 3 hour wait to donate blood. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. My wife and I truly got lucky. I thank God that we were both out of harms way. Just 2 hours before it hit she was in a building dong work for a fundraiser for a local charity. That building is now a pile of brick and mortar. I was at work and heard the tornado go by. It came within an 1/8 of a mile from us. Buildings 300 yards away were completely flattened. Thousands of others were not so lucky.

Here is an article about it. There are picture albums of the devastation on the right of the page. We even had Charlie Sheen here today lol.
All I am asking is that people spread the word still that the southeast is hurting. Birmingham took a big hit too. Pleasant Grove is almost completely destroyed and Fultondale IS completely destroyed. Please spread awareness so we can keep getting the people affected the help they need.
