Its great to see Turbine doing this, well done!

Just a question. My understanding is that, this refers to musical/concert-like and horse-race themed only events, is that right? If yes, thats fine, just asking because i saw that long time RP Events, such as the Green Dragon Friday and Hall of Fire on Laurelin are not on the list and i was wondering

Yup, horsey or race events were specifically targeted: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?&postid=6129713#post6129713

"We're looking for player events that are Horse/Racing themed that could be run between the dates of May 3rd and May 16th!"

Sapience also said (earlier in this thread) they're listening to event ideas any server might have as to large scale events, specifically mentioning the EU servers.

I personally would love to see all the servers get involved in planning not only more events, but a wider variety of events. I have no problem rolling alts to try check them out as it is always fun to see what others have come up with

well it would be awesome if monsterplayers could hear music, Ive often been dragged into ettenmoors by my kinnies, forced to play music. Unless that has been changed it would be awesome and an event opener if creeps could hear music.

I hope that Turbine will continue to make similar efforts in the future along other themes. I love putting together community events, but horses/racing isn't my thing. And perhaps "the call" should be more blatant next time. As far as I can tell, it was only that one post in the "announcements and service updates" forum. I don't know about other players, but I almost never look at that forum. It should have been on the launcher at least.

    Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion

I think it's a fine idea, now that I understand what it's about. I was very tired when I logged on tonight and for one crazy moment I thought the launcher was telling me to "Break like the wind"...

Some must fight, so that all may be free.

Wonderful! Great to see the Developers getting a bit involved in this fantastic community event and encourage events on all servers.

A lot of thanks to the Harpella, Tinki and the Lonely Mountain Band for helping out with me last year with Spring Racing Carnival and carrying on the torch this year.

Looking forward to see the events!

My kin discussed doing our Shire Rally again but the guy who runs it decided he rather not given the idea to Turbine. So no event for Crickhollow. Our event won't be ran until June. Sorry guys. :/

Exclamation Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion

It was interesting to see this pop-up, and timely for Sons of Numenor as well. We've long been known for our trademark formation rides through different zones, especially Bree. We were about to post a standing monthly patrol that is open to the community of Landroval. Now seems as good a time as any to announce and launch it. To which:
    The
    Sons of Numenor
call on the Free Peoples of
    Landroval
to join in a show of
    unity
    against the Enemy!

    May 16th
    10 P.M. EST.
    Landroval
    (Presented in 24 FPS)

Martial at The Golden Perch, and ride, in formation, to Forsaken Inn!
To be followed immediately by a “Thunder Ride” to Rivendell for music, revelry, and (RP) fellowship!

    Music By SoN's own
    DAFT HOBBIT

The Sons of Numenor's "Symphony of Light II," including the patrol from The Shire.

A post "Ales and Tales" Thunder Ride following our hosting LMB.

    FAQ:
    What is this about?

Since its foundation in 2008, Sons of Numenor has patrolled across Middle-earth in formation and uniform. Now we are sponsoring a monthly ride, open to all community members and Kinships to join.

    Where does it start?
We will assemble at The Golden Perch, help those joining us get into formation, and begin.

    Where does it go?
We will ride at walking speed, through Breeland, through Bree, and pausing at the South Gate, before continuing to The Forsaken Inn.

Then what is the Thunder Ride?
Sometimes you just can't drive 55. Other times you can't spend all night walking to Rivendell. Either way, we will take all able to join or continue with us, at a full-speed rush directly to The Last Homely House in Rivendell.

    Then what?
We will gather about Rivendell for a modest fireworks show, and an afterparty of light RP, music, and fellowship in The Hall of Fire.

    Do I need to RSVP?
No, but we would appreciate any larger groups attending to check-in, so we can plan for your presence.

    Can I play music?
Certainly, we will organize the open stage for music in several corners of The Hall of Fire.

    BYOB?
Pish posh, we shall supply ale and pipe-weed for all!

    Questions?
Ask Benjimir (Comstrike) in-game, on LOTRO.com, or at www.SonsOfNumenor.com

I have a question: if I have multiple accounts, will the rewards be automatically applied to the account of the character that wins, or will I get a code to use on whichever account I want?

Also, are there any events that could be easily done by a low-level alternate that hasn't gotten the riding skill yet? I don't actually play on any of the servers listed.

It would have been nice if LOTRO had sponsored some events too. There are places in the Horse Fields that have never been used in game, the perfect setting for this type of event. I'm glad three of the servers get to participate, but what about the rest of us? It's not like Elendilmir is exactly devoid of life here.....

I absolutely agree. If LOTRO is going to advertise it and make it sound like a major event, then they should have an event or two on each server...it only seems fair

Create your own event, or just enter our screen shot contest that we put together. Anyone on any server can enter it. Regardless of whether there's a full blown player event on your server or not.

How does an kin join this Gala event to post an event? Actually our Alliance would love to hold an event for Riddermark.

To whomever it concerns for posting or scheduling events for particular servers. This message is for you to place or post again or at least flag here for everyone else to see. Thanks. Hobi

The Imladris Server and The Ancient Alliance Kinship is proud to present - HOBI'S FISH RACE!!!

This annual Kinship event has proven successful and overwhelmingly enjoyable, so now I share it with everyone. With a little change from my usual event, I will allow the use of Mounts, which will work wonderfully for the Galloping Gala Events.

Meeting this Saturday May 5th at 6pm, 8pm and 10pm (Eastern) Contestants will gather with their faithful steed and their trusty fishing pole at predetermined locations for each race. The goal is to race between FIVE (5) different Fishing Holes attempting to catch either 3 same type identical fish (3 dace, 3 bitterlings, etc) or 1 trophy fish (5lb Salmon, Delightful Dace) then proceeding onwards to the finish line. The first person to get to the Race-Master and "trade" a relevant stack of fish, Wins the race. We also give a prize to the "Most Junk Caught" too, that any contestant has the chance to win.

In fairness to the routes and the locations, I will post them here, so everyone has the opportunity to review the fishing holes and build a strategy. These locations are posted prior to the race again in chat mode of the game as well.

    6PM < RACE 1 > Combe to Michel Delving
Fishing Holes - Combe to Big Staddlemere Pond (30.6s 48.3w)
    to Halecatch Lake (32.7s 52.0w)
    to Everclear Lake (27.1s 54.3w)
    to Brandywine Bridge (31.4s 63.0w)
    to Bywater Pond (31.1s 69.7w)
to the Finish in Michel Delving @ Town Square

    8PM < RACE 2 > Thorin's Hall to Bree
Fishing Holes - Thorin's Hall to Noglond River Bridge (19.9s 100.6w)
to Duillond - River Lune Bridge (24.2s 91.9w)
    to Bywater Bridge - Hobbiton (31.4s 63.0w)
    to Brandywine Bridge (31.4s 63.0w)
to West Gate Bridge - by stream (@29.5s 53.7w)
to the Finish in Bree @ The Prancing Pony

    10PM < RACE 3 > Michel Delving to Rivendell
Fishing Holes - Michel Delving to Bywater Bridge - Hobbiton (31.4s 63.0w)
    to Brandywine Bridge (31.4s 63.0w)
    to Halecatch Lake (32.7s 52.0w)
to The Last Bridge (33.5s 23.3w)
to The Ford of Bruinen (33.5s 11.4w)
to the Finish in Rivendell @ The Last Homely House

Prize Support - The Ancient Alliance Kinship usually gathers items of worth for prizes, we also take requests for crafting of items for prizes, or craft & gather Legendary Items and Relics for prizes or lastly offer a "cash prize" of gold.

It would be AWESOME to be noticed by a Coordinator to gain access to Prizes like Mounts... I am certain someone would find a use for a New Mount.

I hope to see you there!!

This is exactly what is needed, someone from the community must head up these events. Let's hope Turbine holds more of this type of advertising often and puts it on the launcher. Good luck Hobicara!

Good luck to all event organizers and those who intend to be one! These events take manpower and more than one person to get them off the ground. Turbine has helped us do that but even if Turbine did not take notice our events would have happened anyway. If you are on a server that has no event taking place look at the events advertised in The Galloping Gala and use their template to produce your own.

shameless advertising: In spite of the fact these events are called The Galloping Gala one of them at least, the Walk to Rivendell, is not a race but a roleplay walk (though people do ride horses). Come join us on Landroval May 11th at 8 pm server time (South gate of Bree). Prizes will be given out to roleplayers, some by Turbine and some by my kinship. Judges to be appointed at the time the event starts. Roleplay to be light and encouraged with a surprise during the walk.

And by that they mean, Until Next Week!

Great question! The organizers of these player-run events have been given TP Codes and Perlino Steed codes. If you're able to win one of these codes, you'll be able to apply it to any of your accounts at your leisure. The 500 TP will be added to your TP, and the Perlino Steed code will give the Perlino Steed to all characters currently on your account and any characters that you may make in the future.

In short... the Perlino Steed code is an extremely snazzy code.

    Hello,

if we start to organize a "galloping" event now, is it still possible to be part of the "official" events and ask for the special price as a reward ?
(it's not just to win things, it's a good way to promote an event ^^).

A big part of the french community is alive on a french fan-site but not so much here (sorry) so a lot of us haven't seen the news (http://forums.jeuxonline.info/forumdisplay.php?f=169)
