Things I wish we got when Hytbold was finished

Just a few thoughts we've had on how finishing Hytbold could have been so much better - please feel free to add anymore. Maybe a coffee breaking dev will stop by and read it, who knows?

    1) Scenario 1. A Rohirrm labourer approaches you (The Thane) "Erm, morning yer honour, Sir, *duffs cap, pulls forelock etc etc)we found this when clearing out the foundations for the new stables you kindly built for us.... presents you (The Big Kahoona) with a shiny new tarnished symbol of awesomeness.

    2) Scenario 2. A Rohirrm labourer approaches you (The Big Boss), Morning your worshipfulness (averts eyes so as not to offend with his lowly gaze) when me and the lads were rebuilding the study that you provided the materials for, we came across this odd bit of jewellry... presents you (The Top Dog) with the last upgrade component for those three thousand five hundred and twenty two battered rings you've been busy collecting.

    3) You have a town, right, the town has troops, right. So instead of having them lollygagging about reading Horse and Hound or plaiting whatever they feel the need to plait, send 'em out. They can either gather some crafting materials, kill some mobs (no xp or junk, just a few a day from your deed tally, or maybe craft a few bits and bobs.

Lazy bums, all they do all day is walk round in circles or sit by campfires, whilst you (The Lord of the Manor) have go out killing, an' mining, an' an' an' stuff. Getting your robes/armour/nekkid dorf all covered in all sorts of unpleasantness. Next we'll have to give 'em the vote, or edu-macation, or, or, or something, BAH! *wanders off into the Dreamtime again*

Signed, Thane Ambhorn of Hytbold - (Please note I will not be opening the Mead Hall on weekends to parties of schoolchildren, hobbits, or Orcs. I still have fingermarks and footprints on everything from the last time)
    .

I was Bhorn, bhorn to be wild... dum-de-dum-de-dum.

All I want is the addition of vault/AH. Otherwise it is useless as a hub town.
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.

Know what would have been a great reward for spending 44 days building a town?

A freaking map to said town. Is there one somewhere I missed?

    This.

    And this.

Oh, and less lag/invisible walls. If I have to wander down to any of the area specific locales, I just map out. Its treacherous trying to navigate to any of the 4 areas south of the stables.

Otherwise, armor for alts and titles are good enough. (but as the self titled "end game"... it isn't. Not without the above 4 things. (Vault, AH, Map, stability).

A shiny symbol would be awesome and a vault really should be there - I was sad they named me Thane but didn't give me a house so the new furniture items they have would "fit" properly (they just don't look right in my elf house) but this is wishful thinking - I still love the expansion and had such a blast rebuilding Hytbold that I decided to do it on my two other level capped characters.

I enjoyed building the town and liked the titles.

I do agree that it would be great to get a vault, auction house, and a map. Ideally, the vault/AH would be located right next to the mailbox.

I'd also like the option to purchase a house in Hytbold once I've rebuilt it - even if it costs TP (and not gold). Wants:
    • Large interior with more rooms and more hooks than a Deluxe house (because if I ask them to rework how decorating works, the chances they'll do it are close to zero). I'm Thane! I want a Thane's Hall .
    • User-selected exterior decorations are minimal, and maybe non-existent - banners draped down from the roof, for example. The "public" view of the house would be fixed, but I can do whatever I want on the inside... I'm giving up external hooks to help get more internal ones.
    • Everyone who owns this house shares the same door.
    • No maintenance. I built it, I probably paid real $$ to get it, and I own it (for as long as the game exists).
    • In order to move into this house, people have to give up their old one (if they have one). This will help free up some housing for newer players on Brandywine and elsewhere.
    • Provide 2 chests, with the option to buy up to 2 more.

If you mean in-game, no, but if you mean generally, maybe.

The ability to display 6 of my horses in the stalls inside the stable.

    Wonderful post, Bhorn!

Seldom in the course of online gaming events have so many ground so much for so little

Well....it looks cools when you're done but it's a secret that comes with a brand of insanity as you marvel at all those little Rohirim wandering around like imaginary friends that only you can see.

I meant an in-game map that allows your character to travel quickly to the town.

And my favorite part of Hytbold is a graphics glitch. The front gate and towers aren't visible on my computer, so I have a row of guards dangling 40 feet in the air.

Ah, that would make sense as a good reward (and I say that as a hunter despite the idea that travel skills are one of our only special things). Of course, it would just crank up the shrillness of the "but it needs a vault and AH" complaints, and make the subsequent "but it needs guild barter traders/a task board/trainers/etc." arguments more compelling. Honestly, I think that Hytbold isn't intended to become a hub, but thankfully it's only a few minutes from Snowbourn.
