ethical dilemna - should I complain?

I complained enough about the lag, and the rubberbanding, and the connection issues and the delay in the Feb. VIP points. I sent a ticket for the points, as I was one of those left behind, and Turbine was swift to remedy - I had my points by the next day. I randomly checked my account today and noticed that Turbine awarded me points the following day and the day after that as well,a hefty 1000 points overage - no, I was not owed points for an earlier time and I unsubbed, so future points were not expected. Now...WAI? I feel silly complaining that I have been given a windfall, LOL, but I feel I have to tell them. Anyone else having a good Turbine day?

Haha, nice one, it's always good when the mistake is in your favor, i think we might see a few more of this, i had not received the points and was about to open another ticket a few days after they said they had all been given out when i noticed they had added them that morning. I have a feeling that they hadn't quite finished all the batches despite the announcement and those who submitted a ticket for them may have been in the last batch and may get extra.

That would make sense - I sent in the ticket, then another to confirm that I had not received them ( I didnt read the 48 hour thing and replied a little prematurely) so - the original missing TP and two tickets equals three awards of 500 each. I suppose they will notice nd take them back at some point - I think I will just let it ride.

It said it was awarded, not purchased. Checked CC, no ninja activity.

One of those sets of points may be your next months? I know I got my March points just a couple of days after they restored the February ones, so it looks like I got 1,000 points quickly, but they were actually my earned Feb. and March points.

Either way, I'd send a one-time quick note to let them know if you are getting extra.

maybe - depends on whether the points are awarded for the 30 days before or after the payment is taken. I unsubbed as of the end of March, so I wasnt really expecting any more points on my account - as far as I know the points are given at the payment date or thereabouts. Anyway, yes, my personal code of ethics demands that I inform. I either have 1000 too much or 500 too much.

Check to ensure you haven't be resubbed. There were problems where people unsubbed around the time of the downtime, only to find they'd been resubbed automatically by the system (apparently all the twiddling around and resetting stuff, requests to sub/unsub/etc were lost in the cracks).

I don't find LOTRO to be very intuitive, so am not entirely sure, but it seems that my account is 'pending cancellation' and when I click on the billing i am asked if i want to resume my sub, so from that I assume that my unsub has taken. Anyway - darned if i can find where to tell them that they have given me an undeserved bonus! I found the place to tell them that I was missing points through a frustrating rabbit trail of errors - was hoping to repeat the process but couldn't. So, if blue name sees this - please tell accounts that boewid wants to return the TP!!!!!!!!

I got my 500 points 3x as well, though I didn't see my March allotment. These also show up as: CS Adjustment and are different from the other ways of aquiring them.

If it were me id take the points and run. This x pac was a waste of money so id view the free points as compensation.

I petitioned them on the 11th, replied to the autoreply on the 13th, got my reimbursement on the 14th, and then again on the 16th. I replied to the second autoreply on the 17th to tell them about the extra 500 TP and invite them to suck the second batch out again, and they wrote back thanking me for my honesty and telling me to keep the TP.

Maybe I'll get that horse after all.

I dont see them as having no value. I can use the imaginary currency to buy imaginary fluff that makes me smile. I don't think being honest can be equated with being a weinie, lol! I was not fond of this expansion either, for many reasons, but disatifaction isn't a valid reason to keep something that isn't mine without even attempting to give it back. Maybe thats just me. I am really starting to feel for the Turpine team - so many headaches and impossible errors with no solution and everything they fix lately breaks something else, and now the LOTRO fairy is sprinkling the population with coin!!!!!!! Gotta love it!

perhaps it would help if you thought of it less as a 'complaint' and more as a notice to account support that something may be wrong. Afterall, it's perfectly reasonable to complain when something is not meeting expectations and you are either not given what was promised or offered. Likewise, it is perfectly reasonable to expect someone would report an 'error in their favor' just as quickly.

Both are errors, if one is worthy of reporting I would think the other just as worthy.

You may well get a reply, "Thank you for your honesty, enjoy the bonus, we will not be withdrawing the points from your account"

Update,,,Just been awarded 500TP for the third time.

Just wanted to chime in that I, too, appreciate the OP's honesty in reporting a possible error, as well. Honesty is rarely rewarded in today's world, but it still should make you feel better to do the right thing. That people can't understand that, states in loud clear words what's wrong with this world today. People care only for themselves and how it will benefit themselves.

I just checked and I also received my 500 monthly Turbine Points THREE times. The first time is from a phone call I made to Account Support on March 11, the second appears to be from an earlier online support request I made (which I thought had already been closed), and the third came unexpectedly on March 15, which might be from the automated process that was originally supposed to credit these TPs in the first place.

I submitted a new ticket online for Account Support just now. I would rather have Turbine correct this error now when I'm aware of it than at some point in the future when I'm not expecting it.

It would be nice to get to keep the tp - it's ok if i don't. I just can't bring myself to do the wrong thing when I know what the right thing is!

and plus rep to you for recognizing it.

Guess I better go check my accounts now to see if I have the same thing going on. I did have some problems getting the TP that were supposed to be awarded.

Given the volume of people starting to report the same thing I reckon I will take a look next time I'm in game. I missed my March points and sent in a ticket. The ticket was resolved and I got my points, but if the system is still sending them out then I may find I'm in the same basket.

Along a similar line, in the support ticket I mentioned the 4 days had not been credited to my account (at least I was under the impression that VIPs were getting 4 days, based on a twitter update). However, the staff only ended up crediting me 3 days. I responded and pointed that out, but so far no response... :/ I'm not generally a picky person, but, well, we were promised 4 days...
