Helm's Deep - Do you really get to fight in the battle?

Helm's Deep is a major major major point in the LOTR trilogy. Almost anyone can say "Helm's Deep" and your mind flashes to Haldir arriving with his elves, the uruks blowing up the wall, Legolas's shield-surfing move, and Gimli's "Toss me!" comment. But will the new update actually allow you to fight in Helm's Deep?

If it did, and I would pay a lot of TPs to get it if it did, then maybe the quest line in Helm's Deep could be split during the actual battle. After a quest, right before the battle, you could have Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli standing in front of you, each with an identical glowing ring above their heads. Depending on character favoritism, a player could choose which character he/she would want to follow for the duration of the battle. Elves could pick Legolas (from what I hear Legolas is the reason many people pick elves), dwarves Gimli, etc. But it would be a completely voluntary choice. So however the update turns out, this is just an idea.
    Night is falling,
    So ends this day.
    The Road is now calling
    And I must away.

A couple of quick points. First and foremost our game is based on the books and not the movies, so let me address that first...

    1. Haldir arriving with his elves - never happened in the books. only in the movies.
    2. the uruks blowing up the wall - something blew it up, but don't expect to see some Uruk with a bomb running up 1984 style to the wall. Didn't happen that way in the books.
    3. Legolas's shield-surfing move... just... no.
    4. Gimli's "Toss me!".. again.. just no.
    5. Our Epic Battles system will put you in Helm's Deep and you will be responsible for contributing to its defense. That includes fighting.

The battles will be done with Big Battles, a battlefield with different objectives and a new scoring system. Nothing is known yet about the scenario's.

Btw. You won't see Haldir arriving in LOTRO, this game is based on the books, not on the movies.

But I thought the class revamp was going to allow hunters to shoot on the move! This was an expected skill! :P.

    "Epic Battles" (emphasis mine).. ?

"Big" battles actually sounded like a better marketing term. "Epic" Battles leaves you open for cynical criticism.

History clearly indicates that merely existing does that.

And half-orcs that use pitch forks to toss you 30ft straigh up in the air? I know they are strong but that is rediculous!

Alongside lesser-known diversions such as hobbit-hurling (like Dwarf-tossing, but hobbits fly better) and extreme embroidery (and you thought Arwen making that banner for Aragorn wasn't exciting!).

OK, if the shield-surfing doesn't start at Helm's Deep, how do we train it up to do it on the Oliphant trunk?

Not only do you get to fight in the battle, you can bring your hobbit and show all those tall folk how to really get it done! I think a hobbit-only raid at Helm's Deep will be a sight to see.

Quest #456534: Legolas has picked a bad spot on the wall. Gimli the dwarf couldnt see anything. You have to find a box for him in 5m before the battle begin.

Exactly! When we start fighting Oliphants in a raid, we are expecting our Hunter to take care of it while we sit back and relax.

Barrel surfing/riding is in the Hobbit though so maybe we can switch shields for barrels.
