    Gripes but no thanks

I know I am a griper, always have been, but being a Griper I often forget to thank Devs for fixing my gripes. I thought it would be nice to start a thread where people can point out something they have gripped about, but neglected to thank the Devs for fixing it.

I'll kick it off the the festival quest notice. Many people, including myself, gripped about that constantly being up there, in your face. Now it has a 60 second timer, then vanishes. Bravo Devs.

I did not know that was changed, hitting "decline" is just something I do automatically now. Awesome job to the devs for paying attention to this complaint.

Well I think this explains a few things. Personally I'm not going to put my best efforts in to a job no one appreciates me doing.

Oh, I'd hate to be a game dev. Talk about a totally thankless job where people insult you all the time. Just look on any game forum.

I'd been pondering this for a while, I remember the fate changes being over dramatised, I was guilty of indulging in that once and it's been easy to adapt to.

mostly I wanted to say how well this Mounted Combat "lag" or performance fix has worked for me. previously having to dismount when approaching any town, I am now able to speedily meander up to the hytbold mead hall, fly up the cliving stairs and weave between snowbourn buildings on my travels. it's certainly appreciated and if any of the poor unappreciated souls happen across this, bravo. give your self a pat on the back and a slice of your favourite pie.

The only thing that they have fixed that i have griped about is Forced grouping when there was no one left to group with on the epics. They still havent fixed MC,Draigoch, and so many more as to be without end.

    Happy about these

I've been thinking about some of the good (for me) things introduced in the last couple of years:
    • Mounted combat lag and rubber banding is so much improved.
    • The range of instruments added for minstrels. (And the RoI changes to my minstrel and the way they were communicated/tweaked.)
    • Looting while mounted. Great for prospecting!
    • Removal of sparkles on dummies/mannequins and their relocation.
    • Opt out of forced emotes.
    • Open tapping in landscape-especially after the range and fellowship issues were fixed.
    • Soloification of epic-even though i'd happily do them in groups it's not always practical. This is a huge difference.
    • Auto-looting-not having to select/click and use.
    • As a new healer I missed out on so much in Moria, when people looted in combat or ran ahead before i looted. So i had a choice-heal or loot. When you lag like i do, the choice is always to heal. (The loot table is a different issue and doesn't belong here.)

And the minstrel sang to them……”and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness.”

    My suggestion is:
    - Keep developers away from forum
    - Put a couple of persons in the middle. Let them check (mostly read) the forum, gather useful user complains and suggestions and present it to developers as a nice summary. Let them put developers answers in official topics and lock these topics to prevent aggrovation coming from unstable and stupid people who don't hesitate to anonymously abuse developers on forum (just because they can not do it in real life against real people).

I just noticed they fixed the Fog-bug* in Forochel (some time ago?), after running a new character through there recently. Thanks. No longer need to log out to fix it!

*When traveling through the cave from Kauppa-kohta to Pynti-peldot, the fog visibility from the cave area followed you, even if you ported out. Only solution to remove it was to log out.

BTW my favorite location in LotRO: Pynti-pelDOT

Not entirely true. You're only seeing the public stuff, which does tend to have a higher noise to signal ratio. You'd be surprised how many people choose to privately reach out with some incredibly kind words and in some cases even our loudest critics occasionally apologize for things they've said that came out more harshly than they had intended. I get hundreds of PMs a day and the insulting ones are decidedly in the minority.

I always wanted to have ground-target mechanic in this game, with the wildermark daylie it was finally implemented into the game and I'm looking forward to a bright future, hopefully in terms of new skills. Hail of Arrows or similar but with a more appealing visual style than a blurry green dot.

I'm also very happy with the improvement of Mounted Combat. It still suffers from rubberbanding and the harsh turn rate restrictions but that propably needs more time.

Port to Questgivers, Rapid Crafting Ability (very expensive), the upcoming class changes (fresh!) Wildermark Session Play (spoiler...) and the new epic story in general are things that let me enjoy the game even after years of playing.

    Thanks alot!

As someone who tanks and heals and often forgets to loot because I get busy, would like to thank the dev(s) who came up with auto-loot "bang it all into my bags, please." No, not sarcasm...I've gone through many instances in the past without ever looting trash or anything. It's just one less thing I have to bother with during a run.
Relax, it's only just a string of 1s and 0s.

Top 3 Quality of Life Improvements I love in Lotro

    1. Overflow inventory. LOVE IT!!!
    2. Autolooting. I want to give it pie.
    3. Option to port to the questgiver. I didn't even know I wanted this..

Nice idea for a thread. Plus 1 internets for you.

I'll second this, especially on my low DPS toons. The thought of having to fight my way back to a quest giver no longer crosses my mind!

I usually still do it old skool, and cross the landscape turn in, but in situations where it's a loooong way and my game time is precious, having that option is great.

Exactly! There other option is to run past the quest giver until the looong train of mobs following me back finally break off.

The ones that care will reach out in a mature manner, whether positive/negative. The ones that can't tell their toosh from a hole in the ground will cry wolf in a public forum.

When player music was broken earlier this year they dug in and fixed it quickly. Nice work on that one, devs.

    Thumbs up

Thank you devs for all the work you put in (maybe even overnight!) when the internet host went down, even giving us updates every few hours!

Among other things... but yeah, I totally agree with all these sentiments. Now I shall be obviously old-timey player and thank the devs-that-be for shared storage and the wardrobe system. I never stop loving them... well, until I run out of space.

I'm really happy to hear that. I mean it too. I know those guys work and with passion.

This. It's bad enough being the one in charge of medical information at my job. I think I'd absolutely hate my life if I were a game dev. <.<

That said...I've never really had a major0 *OMG it's horrid!* gripe. Although I'm really glad to see that the rubberbanding of warsteeds is better.
    Work in progress...

Does seem like a good idea, to offer thanks for a game when so often it's the gripes you see and feel.

I, too, want to thank you all for your hard work, even though I still have issues. But to be honest, it's very unrealistic to expect everything to go 100% your way, and some things I am really happy about. The forced emote toggle is one thing I am very grateful for. The fix to the music system is another.

So a big *thank you* to the devs and community folks here on the forums. Underlying the gripes and issues is a real appreciation for your work by me, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Helm's Deep brings us.

Agreed, auto-loot is a major quality of life improvement. Now if they fixed relic forging and IXP runes, we'd all be even more thankful (except the chiropractors who get valuable money from curing RSI)...
