Lit Lanterns in Michel Delving

So is this the list, or are the lanterns just randomly lit? I checked a few more times and it's still the same 7 server lanterns lit up.

Someday all the servers will close down, and we must all face this outcome, but this is not that day.

Not sure if random or not. It's those seven on Gladden, at the very least. This may be tied to currently least active. So, the seven that are lit after a certain amount of time will be deemed closed. I do like that it has the Bounders Bounty stuff on each one so the deeds of that server don't go unnoted.

Laurelin and Snowbourn closed? Prob not. First one is the only full supported english RP server. The second is a very active PvMP server. I agree that this is random.

Yula, that is nonsense, they've just released an update with some long-awaited new features for a long-starved portion of the game's community. That hardly speaks of "doomsday" to me.

And I highly doubt they would close the only official primarily English RP server, or any other well populated server at that. A server merge/transfer isn't a bad sign, it's just trimming down unnecessary weight on their service and making the experience better for everyone, and if they had a sudden influx of new people, more servers would need to be required. It's just a matter of keeping everyone happy by preventing them from feeling as if the world they're in is dead, or adversely making sure there is actually enough room to accommodate the number of players joining.

Unlike many MMORPGs, LOTRO has a huge emphasis on the roleplay aspect and that is a huge deal to many. For some it's the only reason they're here. To say that they would close some of the most popular niche servers is not a very well thought out statement, and would be a horrible decision on Turbine's end.

I feel like too many people are trying to read between the lines, when in reality where they think they see letters there is nothing but a blank space. Until there is an official source specifically stating exactly what is going to happen (not may, might or could) then we only have speculation to go on.

Laurelin will not close. I can say this with utmost certainty (unless plans have changed which seems highly doubtful in this case) - it is not a mere belief or wishful thinking. Even without such a bold 'claim' as some may see it, (though the truth of these words will be seen in the coming days) Laurelin is (and has ever been) LotRO's only official role play server, and is certainly not one of the low populated worlds. Reasons good enough for Turbine to have this server remain.

Once implemented, server transfers can be account or character based so that all your account level items including marks, Mithril coins, etc. can be transferred. That's hilarious! Though, if you really think about it, the idea to light a flame in remembrance of the lost servers really makes a lot of sense. I posted some numbers of those servers in the other thread, then realized that this one existed already, so here is that info:

I also checked this out, and compared it to some of those server lists people post. Here are the servers with torches lit, and the %s from that website. It very easily could be true, but I am hesitant to say that it is because it could also just as easily be that they lit these specific lanterns for lighting convenience. As always, those %s have been said by Turbine to not reflect actual populations %s, but to see that no high % server is on the list... makes you wonder. Then again some low % servers you would expect on the list, just aren't there.

Some one said once that the most simple explanation is most probably the correct explanation. Yours is the the most simple explanation, not a weirdly tangled conspiracy theory but something very normal & practical. That & i find tinfoil hats very unfashionable.

I think Yula's account has been compromised - unless meant in the sense all servers are closing to be moved to new hardware.

I guess we'll find out for sure sometime soonish.

I hope the lights are random. This would be a dreadful way to make the announcement. If we read the lanterns lit as the REMAINING servers, then it doesn't make sense why Brandywine and Landroval aren't there.
