Exclamation Breaking in to PVMP! Need advice!

Hey there all you brilliant and talented players

So I've done quite a bit so far in lotro since I joined a year or so ago, and PVMP was one of the things I barely dabbled in considering I came from the now dying Imladris where the Moors were nearly dead. But here I see there is some relatively engaging activity going on that has peeked my interest.

I'm trying to find the best way to start obtaining commendations as well as ranking up (only a Rank 3 at the moment) and on the first day going in I got lumped into a random open raid group that was wreaking havoc. I enjoyed that very much, though in a week its been tough to find anything of that nature again.

So aside from advice on how to level and grind in the Moors these days, am I missing a set time or day that most players are out fighting or accepting people into their freep groups? Also, should I worry myself at all with playing creep? (as in, is there a benefit to it in what I'm attempting to accomplish - ranking up, getting comms and bettering my gear)

Thanks for the tips and advice and thanks for taking the time to read

Starting PvP solo is hard. I started a few months ago and then could play in moors for 3 mnths due to internet connection. So here are some tps from a fellow new Freep.

Do your dailies at quiet times. Watch out for the warg at river outpost stealthed 24/7 who spends their time picking off greenies. PvE in moors just to get your comms. Try to get audacity grear asap.
Freep groups happen most times of day and night-US goes to bed, Oceanaics log on , Europeans log on. The only map used is the Ettenmoors. It's busier on weekends. It's busier in US peak times. (Lots of Creeps seem to go to bed at about 11 PM server time.)

Meanwhile if you are playing a light class, stack crit defence and morale. You'll hit like a wet noodle but you'll do that against a ranked creep anyway cause you'll be dead before you get 2 hits off... at least this way means you will survive some hits. I quested on my minstrel in blue while i was turning in quests. Usually the creeps got bored and hips or left me alone cause they were frightened of being bored to death. Or fight em all to the death (likely your own death for a few ranks) .It is your choice.

Most freep groups are friendly and will take new players around. It helps a lot if you have end game PvEd enough to have PvP friends (thanks to Gusx Ben Allegra and especially Hromgar Erinian and Fraed for holding my greenie minstrel hand while I learned the locations, the abbreviations and made every mistake while I tried to learn everything else! I am so trying! ).

There are some PvP orientated kins. See who is leading and send them a tell and ask about their kin. It is by far easier to do anything in this game with a good end game kin.

As for creeping-well I don't play the dark side much but having a creep helps you to meet people. Creeps are generally very supportive. You'll need to be shown the maps and you'll be very squishy when you solo at first. High ranked freeps will.... mostly..... let you do your dailies as creep. Or they will kill you once and then let you go on your way unmolested. There is a lot of sympathy for new creeps at the moment. But there are some a-holes on both sides.

Don't worry about renown or KBs or anything else at first. Just be prepared to run from the rez and weigh in to the fight again. Listen to your leader. And laugh some more. This will win you many more friends than anything else. This is my approach and I have got to rank 6 while dieing over 350 times-at least 50of those, in 5 hours, yesterday! LOL.

Bottom line: Be prepared to die a lot and laugh about it.

Dancing with Sir Pouncival (Gir-dog) is a Landroval bonus. Being corpse jumped by Maggot is kind of mandatory...although haven't seen him much lately.

here are some welcomes from the Landroval players, https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...67#post7431067 ignore the forum PvP sniping-they are all quite nice in game. *ducks, bubbles and feigns death*

Oh and leave the 1v1ers on the lawn alone. Watching is ok. Staying on your horse tells peeps you don't want to fight.

Welcome to the challenge and the fun of PvP.

Apart from joining a kin that regularly groups in the moors, the easiest way to start getting comms is to spec your class in whatever trait line gives the most aoe's, follow other freeps around and just gold tag. Works great. It doesn't significantly take anything away from the raid you're following and if you can stay alive long enough they might just throw you a ninja invite. My red-line guard is solo 95% of the time and makes a handsome living doing exactly that. Also, not being in a fraid but tagging in their midst makes the moors lag a little less horrible.
