If it is some big surprise, then telling people about it, would kinda ruin it would it not?

Didn't you ever get a gift at some point, where you really wished for one thing, but the person giving it to you wrapped it up to look like something else entirely?

All I'm saying is - don't be too quick to judge, until the time comes (which could be April 24th).

There are lots of things in the forum that have been here for weeks on end - unaddressed and unanswered. This isn't one of them. They talk more on Twitter, than they do their own forums.

I'm not annoyed by it. The dragon fireworks plus the VIP gifts are fine by me. Its like the Azure steed or any of the other anniversary gifts. I used them for a short time then went back to my other steeds (which I liked the look of more) and the Azure fashion and cape I was never really fond of. I much prefer the character frame, and the dragon fireworks might be fun.

I will say the temper tantrums oozing from this thread over free gifts, perhaps SSG should have made a pacifier and a wearable diaper for some of those here. That would be more fitting.

I always find these kind of threads by people complaining about free stuff funny. They could give out one stat tome and people complain they did not get 4 of them. They could get a symbol of the blemished king and the would wonder why they did not get two and star-lits. When the horse was given away people complained it was not enough. It was said they saw a bunch of entitled people crying over stuff and that is what it is. They have been working to improve this year and people whine about only getting the dragon fire works, only this or that but then there are creep stuff and I wait for the person to start crying "but I don't play in the moors".

At this point I really think no matter what they do, not matter what is given people who feel entitle are going to want more and more. Yes you are getting dragon fire works and a frame. But you also get creep stuff too. But when it comes down to it you are getting something....and it will never be enough. There will always be those who have to have more and are never satisfied.

But I am sure everyone who posted upset is now going to think to themselves, well that is not me I am not like this because X reasons. But you are.
"I am condescending, that means I talk down to you." Well just for those who go out of their way to need it.

First of all, let's be clear that I'm not that fussed about the 10 year gifts. In the scheme of "everything that is wrong with lotro", the perceived or otherwise generosity of SSG comes way down on the list.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm a tad perplexed at SSG's (and historically, Turbine's) inconsistency when it comes to anniversary gifts. Some years have seen fantastic gifts - the steeds, cosmetics, the nice title (seven stars) and yet other years have been almost careless (the year 8 rag that was supposed to be a cloak). One would have thought that adding a new title and a couple of snazzy cosmetics (or even a mount) would not have been that hard given they've done this before. Perhaps it's because they're so short staffed that they don't have the time, perhaps SSG just could not care less. Who knows.

Lastly, as for "people should not moan when they get free stuff", I'm sure you'll be jumping for joy if the local kids decide to put an envelope full of cat poo through your letter box.

Oh wow, this sucks. I've been looking forward to this for awhile now, thinking back to the cool past anniversary rewards and assuming since this year was 10 years, it'd be the best ever. It's seriously the worst ever. I don't even keep any of the free fireworks, I just delete them to make room in my bags. Well, i guess not renewing my subscription last month was a good decision afterall. I'm still...stunned.

The red part dyes, the gold part stays gold. There is a mount of the same name, it's probably not a real dragon, tho. I mean I hope it is but...

There is also a store version that is silver/blue. Or it may be the other way around.

Typically the anniversary variants are blue, store variants are red.

I'm just excited that the game has lasted 10 years and that I've been playing that long. This is the longest I've played any one mmo.

I get that people like presents and goodies and feeling special. That stuff just doesn't matter to me as much in this game now after all this time. I have tons of horses, capes, outfits, doo-dads, titles, ancient pipeweed seeds, and inventories full of shtuff. I have more stuff across characters than I know what to do with. The portrait is actually the coolest thing to me. It shows how long I've been around and that's about it for me personally.

At this point I just want continued adventures and for the festival schedule to keep going year round like it does.
Centuries ago, in primitive times, before the dawn of civilization, there were things that would be inconceivable to us today; such things as poverty, disease, violence, senility, and love.

When developing for our 10th anniversary, we made a decision to focus on both items and content. What this means is that the 10th anniversary has far more playable content associated with it than any other anniversary we've had. We also have more than thirty items available in the scavenger hunt. We appreciate the feedback on the gift boxes themselves, though. I would caution that I'd wait until you see the fireworks before passing judgement, though, as they are pretty sweet.

It's as sweet as the festive azure cosmetics.
So people who are playing and possible paying for 10 years, and I'm not one of them, should be satisfied for not getting something special for all that time, but they are treated with a festival-like grind to get something?

Well you have just manged to prove what I said. You are again whining. Then you misquote me because someone you have to add words to what I wrote and then false equivalency. You are getting something, they have taken effort to make a 10th year box. They are also working on other things for the event. They have been adding a bit of info every day or so but all you see is a box of something that you have no idea is the final product and complaining. But I am sure it is not fair to you. From above I see people excited about the fireworks but please stamp your foot and scream more and maybe Verucca you will get your way.

Oh, and they're not really cakes. They're biscuits, which aren't really biscuits.

Cordovan, I want to thank you and the team for keeping the game going for this long. I love the game and am greatfull that I can visit Middle Earth any time I feel like it. This isn't just a game to me, it's a home away from home, it brings back my sanity after a tough day at work. I had to stop playing for a few years because my computer broke and I couldn't afford a new one. I am just ecstatic that the game is still here. Thank you all. I would have been happy with just a new frame. I hope all this craziness doesn't cause you and the team too much despair because there are many of us that really do appreciate all the work you have put into the game. And are hoping for many more years to come!

Tim Tams are also very yummy. And I went straight over to Amazon, but the shipping dates mean delivery in May-even hotter than now. Doesn't bode well for traveling to Texas for my yummy Jaffa Cakes. (which yes, I know are biscuits-take it up with McVities. )

Although, I went down the rabbithole far enough to go to McVitie's website, and see you can get BOXES OF JAFFA CAKES WITH YOUR NAME ON THEM!!!!

I very much want "LilyRose's Jaffa Cakes".... even with international postage... rofl.

    Must resist.

I always felt it was silly that players think they deserve rewards because they simply bought a game 10 years ago, even if they hardly ever played it. I have players in my kin that have logged into lotro 3 or 4 times in 10 years, but they get 10 year fireworks.

These rewards should always have been based on account /played time, not on length of time.

I suspected this might be the case.

Shinies are nice. But the best anniversary gift I can think of is, indeed, more content.

    I look forward to scavenging.
