    Blue champ is back, or?

    Hi!


    My blue champ is only lv68 but it looks like the recent changes were a really big boost for us (not mentioning that as I heard BPE is back in raiding again).

    Anyone tested this spec @130 already?

    Bracing attack with tracery is a 35% max morale heal with +15% inc. heal buff, 30 sec CD, which is technically a 45%+ heal with my inc. heal rating atm.

    Dire need fully traited with tracery is a 1 min CD (if I remember right) 50% max morale heal, which is technically a 70%+ heal with my inc. heal rating atm.

    The flat 30% dmg buff was also huge, considering that we didn't really benefit from the old crit magnitude bonus like the dps specs.


    Taking into consideration the above and that we have a +20% built in morale supported with other defensive cooldowns, we should be more or less inline with the other tanks now.

    (As I heard, crit defense is not relevant for boss fights atm.)


    What do you think, how far can we push 3/6/12 and how are we doing dmg wise?

    On paper things look pretty decent honestly. The biggest things blue would possibly be missing is group utility and better agro. Currently champ needs to use dps to keep agro were as most other viable tank specs currently have a way to chain taunts. Guard has 4, captian traited grave wound etc.

    In order for blue champ to get into the highest ranks I think riposte needs an overhaul and a taunt added to it. Also horn of champs needs to be a threat copy. OR maybe the trait the lets merciful strike be used at any %hp would also make merc strike a taunt? All I know is that the way things are currently setup on demand agro is the way to go. The idea of building and keeping agro with dps is an old school great thing from old days of MMOs. In todays model though if a couple classes have perma taunt they all need it...

    As far as group utility not sure really. They dont necessarily need it but guard and captain have their own in a way.

    Yea totally agree, Riposte should have a taunt associated with it and horn should be a real taunt.

    I would have said merciful strike should give a self heal but after the buffs I don't think that's necessary anymore.

    While group utility is great, if they gave us the ability to do more damage in blue line then I don't think it's necessary. If blue champ could bring in more DPS while tanking I think it would be more in line with the class and would remove the need for a group utility buff like break ranks that guards have.

    Thanks guy, these are good points.

    Since blue champ is meant to be a dmg tank, both the utility and threat issue could be solved just by adjusting the numbers, which shouldn't require too much effort.

    I don't know how much dmg can a blue champ dish out @130 with the latest changes, but threat for tanks is already dmg*3 (could be even more), so there is plenty of room between "regular" tanks and dps specs for blue champ.

    Yes, some classes have high opening dps (hello yellow champs) but this could be also handled if the horn becomes a threat copy.

    Since champs can't trigger parry events on demand like guards, repost wouldn't be a reliable taunt, but its not really needed if you generate threat the old way.


    This could be the trademark of the blue champ, limited force taunts and utility but reasonable dps compared to other tanks which translates to threat/utility.

    I saw a Dire Need heal today on my champ for….. 1,062,000. I kid you not. I like to absolutely max out my morale, go into the Delving in the moors to get the moors +max morale buff, get into combat and pop Unbreakable. That brought me to almost 1.6mln. Then with various +incoming healing buffs and bracing attack, I hit Dire Need and was very surprised to see a heal for more than 1 million.

    I may need to start a new thread for this but, I am curious about Masochism on blue champs. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the reflected damage is only a 20% chance? I understand that the fevour gain is for sure only a 20% chance.

    If this is the case I would really like to see Masochism changes to 100% reflect chance but lower the %reflected to like 10% for consistent agro help. This about evens out with guardians reflect skill having 33% uptime with 35% reflect. Which averages out to ~11% all the time. I wouldnt change the proc for the fervor but the damage reflect on this skill is EXTREMELY underwhelming even in AoE if it ever procs. It also doesnt negate the damage it reflects FYI. I understand why on the surface this would 'seem' OP but as pointed out guardians have a skill that I believe is actually also reduced by warchant... that averages out to give 11% damage negated and reflected. I dont know if the damage negating part needs to be added but a stronger and more consistent reflect would go a ways to helping Blue Champ keep agro.
