Task: Fine Feathers

Every once in a while I go back to do Tasks I've never completed. Lotro_wiki isn't a bad place to look for info, although once in a while there's a big mistake in their information.

Today I'm really struggling to find "Fine Feathers." The wiki only lists one enemy that drops them: "Swift Crag-Hawks" of which there are usually a few in the Bruinen Gorges in the Trollshaws. However, there are never very many of this monster, and they only very RARELY drop Fine Feathers. I spent a couple of hours killing them and got 3... out of 10... feathers.

Does anybody know if other enemies drop them? I'm going around the world killing hendrevail of similar levels but so far no luck. Tasks have never been this hard before! Ugh.

I had the same issue as I went back and did all of the tasks I had missed as well. Back when these where introduced some tasks only required 4 of an item but the 4 where scarce drops from mobs. When they updated the tasks to 10 items each they didn't increase the drop rate of the 4 item tasks. This makes it incredibly tiresome to find. A recruited a hunter friend from kin to help find the Hawks as they only come out by day. Good luck with getting it done.

Thank you I did end up getting them done eventually.

Most tasks seem to have many enemies that drop a particular item. For some it's a rare drop but other enemies drop them easily. So most of the time I just try a different enemy from the list if I'm having trouble getting the item to drop. "Fine Feathers" has been the only really awful one so far. The rest have felt kind of like "Deeds Lite" haha

I too am wondering if there is a better way to do this? I've been here for over an hour now and I have 3/10. It's a very frustrating quest that any sensible person would skip over, but unfortunately I am dead set on clearing my deed log properly.

If this is in fact the only way to get the fine feather item, then I would suggest SSG modify the drop rate or increase the presence of these crows in the Bruinen Gorges.
