Session Play Bugged w/New Patch? (Jan 12/22)

Playing on Treebeard, trying to complete Volume 2, Book 3, Chapter 9 - We Cannot Get Out

The scaling of damage is off, a bleed from one skirmisher will do 2-3k dmg of my total 35k health pool. Health regen is non-existent (maybe 1k health over 5 mins). I have tried a few times and even when reaching Mazog he has ~90k health and I'm at ~2k left and just get blapped.

Has anyone else had problems with session play since this patch? I just completed this on another character with extreme ease a day or so ago.

I had a near identical problem earlier today and so have a number of others in my kin.

I've run into a similar problem on The Horn of GOndor. Boramir can't even get to the point where he blows the horn. He doesn't get close, he dies too fast. I've done this mission dozens of times and only died once. There is something seriously wrong with session play.

Yep, the new patch introduced an issue with Session Play. We'll have a patch next week that corrects this issue, among other things.

Yeah the Nurzums Wrath session play is bugged to heck too in wildermore. Trees were killing me left and right and Nurzum does like 200-300 damage to them.

I thought I had lost my mind, so I'm glad someone posted this. The session play instance The Fords Have Fallen is usually so simple that I pull several groups and hack away. Yesterday I used the same tactic and was overwhelmed immediately. I tried it again and slowly picked off one enemy at a time, and still had to heal every time it was available. I already detest session play when doing it across all of my alts - hope they really can fix it next week.

there really needs to be some option to skip session play and get a tl;dp version. Session Play is a waste of server resources and when it breaks it potentially blocks players from advancing questlines. Tbh having a player observe a major character in a scripted in-engine cinematic would be better for these types of story moments. It would be one less potential point of failure for your game.

Thought I'd level to 112 and have a go at the Elf Ally and see how the more tricky one would turn out.

With zero morale or power regen it was slow healing up before moving off each phase, letting the npcs continue seem to be working until I got to the drake. I body pulled so as not to generate damage aggro but the two close archers failed to wake up and take it off my guy. The invisible barriers stopped me hiding behind any tree to LOS it so the inevitable defeat came.

If anyone is worried about getting back in to the Ally Hall to try again after the fix there is a travel to horse next to Legolas in the Ruins of Díngarth to get you back there.

No, nothing was mentioned in the patch-notes, but...

After failing "The Fall Of Moria" 3 times on Monday, I came back in today and completed it with no issues.

What was happening? (Playing on Treebeard)
I could not get the "healing" skill to activate because it is dependent upon achieving a "block". I was getting about 1 block per 4 mobs or less (caveclaws).

Today I was able to achieve blocks and activate the "heal" on every mob.

    Success!

    Update:

Success with "The Fall Of Moria" but not so much with "We Cannot Get Out".

    Mazog just kicks my you-know-what.

There is definitely something wrong with this Session Play instance.
I realize that at the end you will be defeated, but you have to get to the end where Mazog goes "green".
But it seems to be impossible to even put a modicum of damage on Mazog.

If you cannot do at least "some" damage to Mazog then you definitely Cannot Get Out, you also can't complete the Session Play.

This instance involves the Book of Mazarbul, but at this point I think the instance is "full-a-bull".

    I have same question.
It looks that we need to wait
I hoped that Boromir will be able to finally die with honor...

    Remembering Thrymm in Wildermore

"Remembering Thrymm" in Wildermore unachievable. It's a gate to the continuation of Wildermore quests as far as I can tell. So I had to abandon playing Wildermore and move on.

All Orcs have 16k hps and Thrymms warsteed has super low hps, and the sweep that used to take out like 8 Orcs at a time now doing only ~5k damage to them. Sweep cooldown is like 8 or 10 seconds. So many Orc coming at you too it's impossible.

I tried many 'workaround' tactics, such as kiting the Orcs around and that doesn't work because: the sweeps require being in the crazed mob melee range, half the 50 Orcs are archers, and they chew thru my warsteed in seconds when I try to close in, as it has like 8k hps.

I've done it previously without any issues on 4-5 characters. Now could not do it at all. Hopefully it's fixed with the Session Play fix.

This failed to get into the release notes, but today's patch does include fixes to session play.

100% this. I've never liked seesion play because it breaks the immersion by forcing me to pretend to be another character that I have zero investment in or knowledge of. And that was before it broke and blocked me in the middle of an epic story line.

I can confirm "Remembering Thrymm" session play in Wildermore is fixed. Just completed it first try. It seemed to go as intended.

    Yes. I can confirm that.
    In fact...it may be over-corrected.

I finished it at almost full health!

It's been like that for a while. I did it a couple of times late last year, early this and had nearly full health when I finished.

I was thinking, "Come on. I could a taken 'em all." when it kicked me out.
