You did not call a blade brother. You summoned a combat companion: An archer or one of three different standard bearers.
You designate a blade brother with a different skill, and while that blade brother can be your combat companion it can also be another player and, in some cases, some other friendly unit.
I found it clunky that I couldn't click on 'Stand Alone' and force my 'Brother' skill to drop or vice versa.
I understand that 'Brother' is applied to a specific target and 'Stand Alone' is a stance and that's probably why it doesn't work that way but regardless it feels clunky to me.
