Is there a website that says when the servers are up or down?

I think it woudl be a good idea to have something like this so readily available and up to date so that if there is an issue we can always check it out. It would make things simpler.

I don't know where to find it, but on our kin website we have this pane that shows our server status.

I think they are stil working on define the root what caused this outage sapience promised to keep in touch as soon as he or anyone knows *if i remember things right*so have in mind it might take some days *get's a donut*

There's a good site called Alertra that you can use to check server status from 10 different locations all over the world. Just put the url (or server IP) that you want to check in the "Spot Check" box and you'll get a latency report from all those locations in a few seconds. Works great, I use it often...

We'll continue to investigate the root cause. We'll address the issues and failures we discover, and will adjust policies where we discover they are needed as a result of those investigations.

We'll share what information we can when we can and if we can. It's probably worth noting that investigations like this usually are not done in a day, but over several days.

From that (a bit further up in this thread) I'd expect to see more info sometime next week, especially since there's a weekend ahead that will probably slow down the investigations.

The problem is that names like Patience, Sapience, Charity, Fortitude, and essentially all other abstract nouns, including all names of qualities, are feminine nouns in both Latin and Greek.

Fun fact: When first hired, I was considering Charity as my CM name... just to continue the flood of virtues we had going on there, and to further add to the confusion. XD

Also, everyone thinks Sapience is a girl. To be honest, I forget too until I go over and visit his desk. =P

That last part about going over and visiting his desk screams for someone to mention something about something that was blurted out by someone some time ago somewhere around these forums. It's something that has burned into our minds and can never be fully erased. I'm not sure if the topic is already forbidden, but it included the word "dent".

And don't tell me "They'll tell us something Monday", please. The last major outage was on a Sunday, so with the weekend kicking in surely someone can tell us how the investigation is progressing.

Didn't really anticipate anything until sometime next week to be honest. The root problems were outside of Turbine's control so the investigation is going to be a bit convoluted I would expect.

Read? Yes, please, even if it's along the lines of "we are still gathering information" which truth to tell is what I expect. Because, as I said, this isn't the first time this has happened to Turbine.

Either they are extraordinarily unlucky in the tech department, or the building housing their servers is built over an ancient Indian burial ground. Either way, I'm curious, and minds that need examining want to know. Or something like that.

The "If we can" is correct to point out.

No one wants to disclose a single point of failure in their system. Publicly identifying that can lead to DoS attacks and worse, it's not surprising they aren't saying anything else...
