They said they were working on it, but it's obviously slipped out some. How much is hard to say. Given that they've asked about whether players are D11 capable or not recently, I suspect they're juggling a few different priorities for those developers...
Personally, I don't think they need to rush on that. If you look at Steam's hardware stats, only 3% of the gamers on that service have a DX11-capable GPU.

I haven't seen any screenshots, and I doubt anyone will until Turbine releases it and makes a big deal about its inclusion in whatever release it comes with.
If they had a dx11 client I'd buy a dx11 card and pre-pay for 6 months.

I suspect you are right, which is why I posted the question in hopes of an answer. I would be very happy with a "we've postponed Dx11 until September" or something.
I don't know about the other 96.99999% but I'm not buying a Dx11 card until I have a good reason to. If lotro looks good enough in Dx11 land then that will be a reason to. Usually I upgrade when my FPS starts dropping on new titles, but this 3870 seems to be holding up for now.
A month or so back, I had $1000 burning a hole in my pocket, so I looked into building a new system. The idea was to focus most of the money into processor and videocard, since I could cobble together a lot of the other parts. After doing some searching online, I found that - to build a system really worth having for a few years, I would need another $500 or so.
Although I really wanted to have a DirectX 11 system this year, that'll simply have to wait. Instead, I dumped that money into serious upgrades for my laptop (256gb SSD, doubled the RAM to 8gb, upgraded from Vista to Windows 7). While it isn't DirectX 11 compatible (the laptop has a nVidia 9800M GS videocard), it does run infinitely better. Loads LOTRO in seconds, not to mention Windows and pretty much every other application on the computer. For that, I'll live with "sub-par" graphics for a year or so.
I for one have a new DirectX11 rig playing LOTRO, but sadly only in dx10...
...so far.
Classic Catch-22 problem: people won't upgrade hardware if there's nothing around they want to use/play that supports it and the devs don't make it a priority because few could use it.
In this sort of case, waiting for a 'critical mass' of installed PCs capable of making use of a feature (DX11 in LoTR:O) would be a good way to ensure it never sees the light of day IMO.
I wonder how unhappy ATI are with Turbine, given the joint marketing that they've been doing for months, I'm sure ATI expected Turbine to deliver on the DX11 'promise' before Nvidia caught up, now ATI have no advantage over Nvidia on that front.
Q1 can mean anything though, if they're using US government fiscal quarters then its October - December for example.
The partnership with AMD and several announcements will make it happen some day - whenever that is. And DX11 will spread faster than DX10 because Win7 is so much better than Vista. I bought an 5850 last year just because of the announcement - and since I got it cheaper than it sells nowadays I don't mourn about it. But they seem to build it into DDO and LotRO at the same time and they seem to have thought it easier than it really is.
Not the only miscalculation they had recently.

If I had to put money on it, I'd bet on the DX11 update happening simulataneously with the next big expansion.
Works fine for me, I'm waiting on Turbine to give me a reason to upgrade, and until then my 285's suit me just fine. And by the time Turbine does go DX11, the cost of the hardware will most likely have dropped considerably.
That wasn't going to happen anyway - nVidia delivered their first DX11 card in Q1 (barely), in the timeframe Turbine originally set for their own DX11 work.
The point at which I think Turbine should support DX11 is when the price of the cards drops from $400-500 down $300 (or less). Maybe for the next expansion, 6-8 months from now. That's when adoption for DX11 should start to take off.

The big rush will come with Christmas as usual. There will be the first 2nd gen graphics adaptors, Nvidia will hopefully have some cards that don't heat up the room and people will have the money to buy new cards. But I would really wonder if they wait that long. It's not witchcraft they're doing there - and hopefully not "a shift of priorities".
I'm not sure when I'll upgrade to a DX11 GPU, but not in the immediate future. I have 2 GTX285's in SLI right now, and they are more than enough to do what I want at present.
I am at least going to wait for the Nvidia revision, as the current GTX480 runs far too hot for my taste. Even if it is designed to run at those temperatures as Nvidia claims, I simple do not want that much extra heat in my case and computer room.
I have never been a huge fan of ATI cards, but I may give the 5870 or it's replacement a go if Nvidia fails to improve the current Fermi design.

Nah. Simple system replacement will mean that lots of gamers will adopt DX11 eventually. For example, DX10 has been out since February 2008... 26 months now. According to the Steam stats, 53% of gamers are now using a DX10 card.
A year from now, I expect maybe 20-25% of gamers will be using a DX11 card, and a year after that it should be north of 50%. Adoption rates might even be a bit faster this time around if only because Windows 7 is seeing faster adoption than Vista did.

Most games are still DX9 compatible, and I do not really foresee DX11 becoming widespread until the next gen consoles use it, and every port will support it.
A DX11 card is pretty meaningless unless there are DX11 games worth playing to take advantage of it. Although, the DX11 cards certainly perform the best since they are more powerful in general. Still, there's no real need for all that power presently.
At present there is absolutely nothing that requires DX11 that is worth playing. I believe that once the next gen consoles are out and everything takes advantage of DX11, all that will change.
That will change, just as it did for DX10. Shooters will likely be the first out of the gate, and will promote their DX11-ness heavily, helping to drive DX11 card sales (quite independent of any next-gen consoles). Some new MMO will probably go that way (eventually), and given Turbine's history of liking to be a leader on this front... I'd be surprised if they haven't provided some DX11 support in the next expansion. But I agree there isn't really any rush to get there any sooner.

I'm waiting as long as I can to go DX11. I'm not sure LotRO will take advantage of DX11 tesselation enough to justify the $750 it will cost to upgrade my SLIed GTX260s to GTX470s. I may wait until a game is designed for it from scratch.
We got the core DX11 technology merged into the game engine during Q1 as planned. We're now in the process of integrating that new engine technology back into the game client.
While I don't have an official ETA for it yet it should be in the next major game update. There are a number of improvements to both visuals and performance on the DX11-class hardware from ATI that we've been working with.
It's still a little early to share public screenshots and videos, but we're working on it and should have some more info in the coming weeks.
