Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
So I sent my second cook a recipe from one of the Westfold scrolls. When that character opened her mailbox, the letter had garbled symbols for the topic. LOL. I doubt I can even post the recipe name here without getting in trouble. But it is a real named soup, "Scottish soup dish of leeks and chicken stock."

That is pretty hilarious. Hopefully they fix that somehow.
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
I wouldn't count on it being fixed any time soon. There is a rather important Hunter skill that has been "edited" by the language filter since before live launch.

We have to remember that Turbine bought the chat filter OEM from some company that was determined to write a filter that would let NOTHING through that might possibly offend ANYBODY.
Thus, if I'm discussing the generic/species names for Men and Hobbits, I have to say H o m o sapiens or, alternatively, H o m o dimidiulus. Silly filter.
On the other hand, most of the stuff the filter would disallow, I probably don't want to read anyway. How many of you have noticed that English is remarkably poor in swear words, using the same half-dozen or so in various combinations over and over and over? It gets very dull very fast. I understand Arabic is much richer in terms of invective.

I guess it doesnt recognize languages either.
I had to disable them cause i cant mention the color black in spanish.
=(

I disabled it for similar reasons. The german language game client uses the same filter as the other languages and ends up censoring german words like the ones for jewellery or sound since they contain a series of letters that make up a swear word in english  . Censoring of item names and in-game text is nothing new for those of us who have played with the client set to a different language than english.

Oddly enough, Toad-in-the-hole gets as many giggles from American players as ####-a-leekie. Then again, they're totally oblivious to some of the other names in the game...
I've seen people in /glff either complain that it should be changed, or claim it will be changed because it's offensive. I can't believe that people can be so juvenile.

That's the one thing I can cook well in r/l and is a personal favourite. Luckily my partner hates it, so whenever I offer to cook dinner she declines :)
My first wife was American and actually slapped me when I offered to make it for her. Then I explained what it was (she apologised :) )

I guess they failed then, cause those chickens in the Shire? That's not a word to use in polite company if you're in the Netherlands. :)

Completely clean, and immune to any idiotic over-tweaked 'filters'.
Actually if you're British "Berk" is far from clean. It's rhyming slang. I don't know if rhyming slang is against corporate policy. Guess I'll find out.
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
Played a english version of a german game once and they used the german filter. never relized just how often Po is used in words till i played that game
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
So...
Are we, or are we not, permitted to discuss and link, a cooking item that is in the game, was created by Turbine, and is on your own WIKI site?
Some clarification here would be great, because I'm afraid to put up a link to your own LOTRO wiki now, lest I be hammered again.

Italian is far more richer than English, not to speak of the various Italian regional vernaculars!
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
Tis a real soup. Some people are carrying political correctness to the point of absurdity - context needs to be taken into account (mods, I'm looking at you!) :)
If the recipe is in game, why is the name being banned from in-game and the forums and posts with it in being removed?
Epic daftness :)

Oh gee,I never thought of that could be offensive and I can see why.
I will have to be careful with my Espanol here.
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
Discussions of specific forum moderations and disciplinary actions and calling out of other players for in-game actions or names is against the CoC.
But we really need CONTEXT filters.
Re: Oi! New Recipe Considered Bad Words in Game Filter LOL
First of all, no, it's not against the rules to post the name of an item in-game or take pictures of it and put them up here. Obviously, this soup is a real soup and it's a Westfold crafting recipe.
And, if anyone ever has a question on a moderation decision, they are welcome to PM a member of the community team, such as myself. While we do not wish for users to openly discuss moderation actions, we're happy to privately discuss them if you have any questions.
