So how bout these class changes? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
personally I'm excited for them, granted I heard they might not be all that.
Excited? Have you've seen the changes? Are going to excited about having to choose between ISB and Pen Shot?
Champs should be excited, they get to choose between being able to DPS and dying or not DPSing and surviving.
Anything thats done to make hunters more than a class that revolves around a single skill like they are now should be welcomed with open arms.
Hybrid builds will still be available, based on the 3 diaries posted thus far, too.
The changes do look dumb, though.
Pen shot. Most hunters will use it as much or more than every other skill they have combined in a given fight, and it will account for the vast majority of any dps they pump out. I mean good hunters here, too.
I'm painfully aware of how potentially bad this will be for wardens, and I'm hoping the class gets nerfed hard.
From what I hear Creeps aren't getting changed that much.
The big losers on Freepside IMO. Champs, Minis (have to choose whether to heal or DPS), Wardens, and possibly LM's.
But, this all depends on how monetized the skill trees are. If you can just buy skill points and have any build you want, then the game will just fall further into the P2W abyss.
that implies I dislike the idea that we basically return to how the class was prior to the RoI godmode handed down to us. which I don't.
however with the dumbing down of gear and weapon swapping if they aren't able to keep the rotations interesting or mildly skillful then I'll be giving up on freepside altogether and just finishing the current rank on reaver.
LIs/off-hands (and possibly class items) will remain swappable, jewelry, cloaks, and armour are getting the in-combat lock. or so I hear.
Good riddance if champs lose bubbles/DN while berzerker/whatever ardour traited is called, i have my doubts that hybrid builds will be nearly as gimped as spidey suggests, though (burg dev diary is a good example of this).
More than any trait/stance/specialization changes, reducing the skill count to ~20 has me incredibly aprehensive. I counted things out, and I don't see how they can keep Wardens a class I want to play with under 30-35 skills per stance (or traitline if we lose stances, too).
I think Burgs will be fine, maybe even better off, Coup de Grace is tailor made for PvP.
I don't think all classes will be screwed. Champs, solo Hunters, so just Callquinta ;), Minis (if they have to choose between DPS and heals), and Wardens aren't looking good.
that's entirely fine, I do enough DPS right now that I can entirely forgo the use of every defensive skill. If I'm rewarded with much more dps in exchange for skills I do without anyways I won't be as upset as some of the more casual players will be.
Realistically, skills like DN and TH I've only ever used in 1vX's and though I do love fighting more than one person at a time it would be rather unreasonable to gripe that I am no longer allowed to kill multiple players simultaneously (considering champions are targeted last next to wardens, it's not a valid complaint for group combat either). Which considering the casual nature of most PvP'ers is probably just going to be something that always happens.
And anyways last I read there was an on-defeat heal granted when you finished a kill in the berserker line, which I suspect will take a magnitude of >= rallying cry, or so I speculate.
actually all the champion changes look amazing, I can't wait to play the new class. Not sure some of the other classes can say the same, but it's a mixed bag.
PvP wise maybe for someone like you looking for a return to the challenges of PvPing on a Champ, but what about PvE? Not that you have to worry about endgame now, because HD brings no endgame.
The Burg changes look pretty good, but I'm looking at that class solely with a PvP eye.
Here's an awesome change!!!

Saw your post, Victi, it's preserved on the "alternative" forums, I Kill You button, lol.
So how how your feeling about playing a Cappy now? ^_^
reckon I shall not care since this hilarious game has allowed me to AFK over 6 thousand gold, so I'll just buy whatever I need which is a plus since the big battles look dumb and essentially like an extension of that really annoying mirkwood skirmish with catapults. I'll admit I haven't fully played them through but when it made mention of me not actually playing my character and using catapults and such, my eyes sorta glossed over and I closed the client.
Not one for raiding, anyhow. Haven't looked at the captain changes, shall do so later today.
edit:
I guess they like the theme of super-boring when it comes to captain, so have decided to make that the main class role now. It's whatever, glad I don't main one.
