Time for Horn and Nona to die horrible deaths!

OK so Helm's Deep Epic is going to arrive in a month... KILL THEM OFF !

Whatever it takes... brain tumors... rabid mouse bites... alien abductions... anything.

We have suffered through Turbine's Politically Correct culture sensitivity indoctrination long enough.

Have them be slaughtered by the Dunlendings when they invade Rohan!

Replace them with REAL men and women of Rohan who just want to trample the Dunlendings beneath their hooves!

And if there is nobody at Turbine with the cojones then I have just the solution...

(really folks in case it wasn't obvious... the only serious point I'm trying to make is I'd like to see an end to the Nona + Horn Epic story... it is a bit politically correct and uninteresting don-cha-think? So chuckle and shout DEATH to Horn and Nona!)

Horn can die at Pelennor Fields whenever he wishes, so now is as good a time as any. Nona is destined to be mine anyway. So are Cyneburg, Galadriel and Arwen by the way. *insert maniacal laughter*

I have a painting to remind me Narmeleth is well and truly dead and will no longer mangle Old English!

Nona and Horn...pff...the only character in the epics that produces any kind of actual emotion is the Little Bird.

Horn is a Tolkien character. He, along with three or so others we have met in East Rohan, are mentioned in the song of the mounds of Mundburg song which is basically a lament for everyone who dies. He's one of the names there. I'd rather not spoil it for others who else is on the list; they can look it up themselves.

Not to stomp on a good, goofy screed, but I don't think you can say that this is some big Turbine-originated thematic element of political correctness indoctrination. Tolkein's books regularly had the same theme explored, and Turbine is just staying in tone.

Now, if you were saying this about Calenglad's big sticky crush on the Blue Lady, I'm with ya there. (Though to be fair, if you dip into the Silmarillion, you will find even that's not unprecedented.)

Well blow me down... reading Tolkien for the past 25+ years and I've never come across Horn in any of his books. I'll have to look that one up. Then again I can't say that song is the first thing that comes to mind when I turn on lotro.

Who's to say it's the same 'Horn'? Maybe it's a fairly common name in Rohan. Maybe it's the equivalent of Paul, Bob, or John.

And I for one enjoyed the Nona & Horn epics and the culmination in Wildermore where they realize that it's time to come to grips with their emotions.

Seconded. That quest brought tears to my eyes. Nona and Horn are an ongoing culture clash between the Rohirrim and the Dunlendings. By the way, according to lore, there was intermarriage between them, particularly on the far western fringes of Rohan and the southeastern fringes of Dunland.

I have really enjoyed the whole Nona/Horn storyline as well. It's inspired me to create my own Dunlending character.

It's what I love about Tolkien and about LotRo, there's room for so many stories that the Professor didn't tell. It's why I roleplay.

I don't see what is politically correct about it at all. Maybe its not as exciting as Amarthiel and Mordirith, or as sotic as the dwarves seeking out their ancestral home, or as brave and selfless as the Malledhrim marching on the Necromacer's lair in Mirkwood to provide cover for the fellowship, or as large a turning point as the Grey Company leaving to join their king. But its something that often gets overlooked when you only are shown the big picture, and that is how this war of the ring impacts the every day people who would be content to just live their ordinary lives.

That said, considering the title of Helms Deep and the region in which the events take place I suspect we will be spending a lot more time hobnobbing with some more notable lore characters.

It's not a bad story. Perhaps it's just that they sulk a lot and it leaves me unaffected. It has nothing to do with Vol1 being better, for that start there are a few too many obvious betrayals! I just can't find any empathy for them, compared with the Little Bird.

and death is all around them, and they face insurmountable odds against very stinky orcs, and a big frozen thing...

I think a little sulking in the circumstances is understandable.
