Checking stuck at 44% for hrs. Restarting doesn't help. Help?

I have been stuck at Checking Produce 44% for hours. Have close and restarted many times still no change. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Editing: I started launcher just after the servers were shut down 4 + hours ago. I though it stopped because of no data available from Turbin and went back to bed. Now I see nothing is being down loaded. Am I suppose to think the download is done when the launcher never did this before? I don't think so.

I checked lotro folder and it is still ~17 gig, not the 18 that bullroar is so no the download/install is not done.

Mine sat at 44% for a while but it was still downloading and applying the files. Just let it do its think.

You've patched and servers aren't up. Nothing else but patience will fix it ;)

Go drink a coffee, eat something, maybe poop.
come back later and it will be solved.

Fact is the update is working for numerous folks around here (myself included).

I don't think it has worked correctly.

It should take a little bit of time to get past the "checking" screen because of the expansion being much larger than a typical update, however not this long. It sounds like you may need to restart everything. By everything I mean shut down your PC then shut down your router. Restart the router, THEN restart the PC. If that doesn't work, you may actually have to cycle your cable box (or whatever you use to connect to your ISP). Leaving the launcher running hoping to 'catches' when the game patcher comes up is not something we encourage.

it took me about 10 minutes to get past the "checking" portion. but once it made it past it things slowly moved. plus all the players trying to download the update all at once could be bogging it down as well.


cable internet connection where im at and it took a total 1 hour 47 minutes to download/install the Helms Deep Update. The Amount of time it will take will depend on your connection and other variables.

Well will be updated before servers up so that is good. I was just afraid I had a bad problem. Tks and have fun all.

I finished the download, closed then open it at 44% again :(

My system was patched to completion but I'm now hanging at 44% trying to log into the game. Why do we have to wait minutes at this point even though the client is now up to date?

So far I've been waiting 3 minutes and counting, it's very aggravating. I repeat, the game patched just fine, so my connection isn't the issue!

Once over that long wait it now sits at 77% for another long pause, more aggravation.

My client is patched, fix this unnecessary waste of time.

Finished the download, sign-on screen came up... got the Error: Failed to Launch Client,
Re-booted computer... restarted game and it brought sign on again... same error...
I have done complete uninstall of game and have started a NEW FRESH download/install for LOTRO hoping that will solve my problem...

Anyone has solution to this? I patched client before the servers were up and was able to get to login screen, but after the servers went up I cant get past 44% :/

Have done all this - and I waited until the patch server came up to start. It took about an hour and a half to download. Is it because of all the people downloading/logging in? Is there anything else I can do? (I'm running the program as an admin as well).

I managed to login, then quit, now stuck on 44% myself. I would guess it is due to the amount of connections now that people are getting in.

I finished the download, logged in and after a few minutes my PC was running very slow, so I reboot my PC and now I am stuck at 44% on the check product

Load is definitely going to play a factor while people get through the initial patch process.

Mine's also been at 44% for about two hours now.

I'll give it another 10 minutes or so and then try Sapience's suggestions.

I checked last night and the Lord of the Rings Online folder was at 17.1 Gigabytes. Is the game really that big?

Anyhow, that number hasn't changed, so presumably it has not downloaded anything. Unless it downloads the install files elsewhere. (Or it already downloaded yesterday at some point without my noticing and that's the final size).

So I took advice here and restarted my router also. For safety did an "ipconfig /flushdns" as well. At that point it got past things and is now downloading and patching as expected! Hurrah! (or maybe it was a second reboot, who knows)

tells me task status overall connecting to patch server" it stays at 33% then progress failed same this happen on the beta launch but... main game was fine
now today it happens when Helms deep comes i don't think it my end hope it gets fixed

Try lunching with "run as administrator" option.
Should ease the wait.

I patched early, before the servers were up. I eventually got back to where I was passed patching. But, then it failed to connect to the login server 20 times and only offered me the option to quit. So now I am stuck waiting on the patch servers again.

I was stuck at 44%, for more than an hour, I didn't reboot, just killed the client, did the "ipconfig /flushdns" in a cmd window, and restarted the client, now its patching !

Woot! Forward Iterations are commencing. :p

I think it may have been resetting the router which did it.
