Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Ghost_bear
Must be some inside joke at Turbine, or Patience working on some mad flash skills.
Now, this does bring up a valid point, who will be maintaining the wiki from silly posts?
Will it be a team of Turbine employees or just one?
People that abuse the wiki with useless info will easily be spotted, but what about incorrect info?
Things that close, but not quite correct? Are we going to have a team look at every submission and make sure that what they entered is accurate and simple to understand?
And players that abuse and try to deface the wiki, can they be banned from the game?
Furthermore, will you extend the suspension or ban to the game as well? If someone wants to dork up a resource, I really don't want them playing this game, screwing that up too. I know it's a thin PR line you will have to walk, but as a player, I wish that anyone who does any sort of disturbance on any official LOTRO to have their services on all LOTRO services disrupted, either temporary or permanent, depending on the severity of the incident.

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
I imagine that they'll have a team of people working on it. Both Turbine employees and a core group of dedicated players.
Incorrect information is hard to spot, but easy to change. Should someone say that an NPC is in Combe, when she's really in Staddle, that's an easy thing to fix. It may be a little frustrating at first, but it's also part of the power of a wiki - it allows you to easily make corrections to mistakes that other people have made.

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Your Lorebook account will be tied to your game subscription and many of the same posting rules for the forums will apply.
By limiting contribution to paying subscribers we expect to decrease the level of vandalism often seen at completely open wikis. Additionally, as with the forums, bad behavior may result in bans up to and including permanent bans, so there will be a strong incentive for players to avoid vandalizing the content of the wiki.
And yeah, the Ghost Bear is a joke from Beta that many will will recognize.

Ghost Bear needs SOUND!

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Ghost bear has sound O.o
Click the line of text to be startled out of your skin and worry all your co-workers.

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Fantastic idea with keeping it to paying customers. This has settled some things in my mind.
And Ghost Bear will NEVER DIE! Just as my kinmates in vent when I randomly roar.
Oh, and to the last poster, click the words *smile*
Now we need a flash for the sky diving hobbit.

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
It would be a riot if a new class of bear mobs with stealth is added and thrown onto the new Evendim map.

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Ah nm. Got it to work. :)

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Don't ever get rid of Ghost Bear. He was my companion on those long horse rides, and while running through the Midgewater Marshes (where a bear couldn't be found).
He's the best!
Long live Ghost Bear!

Oh, I so missed the Ghost Bear! It warms my heart to hear him in all his glory again.
Now he's only a click away. Well, three clicks actually. After the Alt-Tab of course. Wait, I've got to finish this quest real quick.
Oh look! A node! I'll take it! What? It vanished! Son of a ninja-...
*ROAR!!!!!*
Geeze! What was that?!?! There are no mobs around...
:) Ahh yes. A proper tribute to beta.

You know I don't know if it's some Dev's sick joke :) but lately I've been hearing a Ghost Cow around. I was out near the North of Bree by the graveyard when I first heard it and then in the Bree's LM house. I have never heard a cow in-game before. I'm not pulling anyone's leg either.

Ghost bear used to scare the **** outta me when I'd be playing late at night with no lights on, all silent, just running somewhere and all the sudden I'd hear the roar of the Ghost Bear and I could have sworn he was right in my living room. It also doesn't help that I live in the middle of the woods anyways....

Same here. The first time, I about jumped out of my chair, as I was standing at a vendor and heard it, sounding very close. "Ack!! A freakin' bear's gonna jump me!!"
After a time, I kind of got used to it....

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
Yes, there is a thread about Ghost Cow I think to. I've heard her ..she's somewhere in the Shire..I heard her while swimming...
-
Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
I heard Ghost Bear on many, MANY occasions during beta. The other day I heard a Ghost Cow in the Old Forest...0_0...I knew that forest wasn't right!
-
Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
I've heard it...never really thought nothing of it though. I always wondered where it was coming from...

Re: Ghost Bear and wiki punks...
LOL, it's so funny how now everyone is missing the Ghost Bear, but back in beta every 2nd post was about how annoying it was and how Turbine should fix it ASAP.
