Opening Up map areas

I know I am just a beginner but I took my horse for a ride around the map last night, and got into areas that had NPC's with mission rings that were grey and not reactive to clicking. It didn't take me long to realize this was an area probably beyond my level


so here is my question

If I naturally follow all the quests in the intro levels of Breeland, The Shire, Eude (Sp?) and Thorin's Gate will these areas naturally open up to me, or should I thuink about venturing out aga in when I hit a certain level?


I know you have to pay to open up some areas, but that right now is way beyond my levels

Welcome to lotro,

The diffrent area's "open up" as you complete quests. If you follow the quests around they will eventually take you to all the areas that you need to go to. You don't exactly going to every starting area as it usually depends on where you start your character ( hobbit, man, dwarf, elf ) however you do you need to complete things in all the areas to unlock deeds. It can be kind of hard to tell in Lotro. There are silver and grey rings.

Gray are trivial quests that way under your level. Do not give much in the way of rewards.

Silver are quests that are just out of reach. All you need is level up once or twice. They will turn the Gold (Standard) or Flaming Gold (Epic) quests. The way most quests work is that you can take quests that are five levels above your character level. There are some exceptions. It is hardly worth talking about the exceptions at this time.

Once the quest become available to take and complete then you may have to deal with buying a content unlock or rent the content by becoming a subscriber (not applicable to expansion content). Everybody has to buy expansion content unlocks.

Normally if you play one of the starter regions completely you will outlevel the quests in the other starter regions (The Shire, Ered Luin & Bree-land). You can to follow the flow of quests (from one quest hub to another) following the game (you can to check in lotro wiki for any missing quest), but this way you for sure will outlevel the quests in the other starter areas (not a real problem, you can to play a level 1 quest with a level 100 character, but some people like the challenge about to play quests on-level, or under-level). Using the XP disabler from the in-game store (100 Turbine Points) is an option if you want to play quests on-level.

Then, if you play all quests in Bree-land your final level is good for the Lone Lands and a lot of quests in The Shire or Ered Luin will transform in grey quests (trivial ones because you are outleveled for this quests). Anyways you can to play this areas at any time, and of course are still useful for the deeds and turbine points grind.

Well thats why I currently running 4 characters, an Elf Lore Master, A Human Warden, A Hobbit Hunter and a Dwarf Guardian that way I can play each intro level in turn or whenever I feel like playing that class/character

easiest way is to follow the epic quest line, that will automatically take you thru the different areas. Stay in the new area and do as you please and pickup the epic quest line where you stopped and continue to the next area.
