For me after switching to 64bit client the game runs on DirectX 9 and changing is inactive. When I go back to 32bit the game instantly suggests switching for 11 and the choice is the menu is active. Any ideas, how to get 11 working on 64bit?

I went through this process this morning on a totally regular live game client, and this was my experience: After using the drop down arrow in the launcher, going to Settings, and switching to the Beta 64 bit client, the launcher closed and rebooted. DirectX popped up a question to see if I wanted to use DX11, I said yes. Windows Firewall asked if I wanted to let the new 64 bit exe through, I said yes. The game just launched, and DX11 was active.
I would note that due to various things over the years I have previously run the DirectX End User Runtime installer, which can be found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109 Might be worth giving that a shot, letting the computer reboot, and seeing if that helps.
Mine was different. I updated and on checking options found the 64-bit client was already selected. All I got was the Firewall thing. No restart or anything.
I have been running the Bullroarer client in 64-bit. Don't know if that has any influence on things.
alternative solution
Go into your Documents \ The Lord of the Rings Online directory
open UserPreferences64.ini
Search for DisplayAdapter value (on Render section)
If DisplayAdapter=0 then change it to DisplayAdapter=1
Save
re launch the game.
Thanks everyone for quick replies!
Kaelor's suggestion worked. Had been trying everything else for ages from all imaginable angles and this finally did the trick.
I had the same problem, but I noticed the GPU wasn't running the game, so I went in to my Nvidia settings and forced the GPU to run Lotro, launched the game and it immediately asked if I wanted to use directx 11.
No problems since that
After update ,I opened launch, chose 64 bit, and entered ,first when I used alt+tab, game crashed ,then changed some settings in preferences ini, made forceattackfullscreen= false to True. crashes stopped,But ,then I noticed I had direct x9 on setting, and it s grey, cant be choosen dx10 or dx11.I checked 32 bit and everything is ok.But on 64 bit ,I tried almost everything ,delete preferences/uninstall dx ,set up end user/set up 64 bit dx drivers......And still on 64 bit I cant use dx 10 or dx 11 .I asked some friends and they have same problem ,they cant change dx setting on 64 bit.and they use 32bit.2nd day ,reinstall my gpu driver, update.and again everything good on 32 bit client and 64 bit still have same problem.Only dx9 can be useable :(
On documents/lord of the rings ,enter userpreferences64 ,find DisplayADAPTER:0 ,make it ''1'',it should work now, seems 64 bit client doesnt auto ask ''to use dx11'' before logging in ,need to do manuel.
I have installed the new version on 2 PCs so far, the game has asked if I want to use dx11 on both.
Several people having issues have reported reinstalling dx9 files have fixed their issue, but I would make sure it is the dx9 (2010) install with the most up to date versions of the dx9, 10 & 11 files.
It might be something is damaging the dx files, or it might be the new client uses files the old 32 bit client didnt, and that they werent installed previously for some reason.
My only issue with the new client is that Alt tab isnt working at all; I dont crash, just nothing happens, so I have gone back to windowed mode.
preference64,find forcefullscreen=false, make it True and alt tab works
None of these fixes work for me. I crash on both 32 bit and 64 bit. Various other tweaks have been used to get the game to work but it totally locks down my pc and forces me to reboot >< Any suggestions?
Make sure you change it in both INI files (just in case).
That, and the DISPLAY change mentioned earlier also helped me.
One other thing...once I got Direct X higher than 9 to work, I started getting all my screens turn RED! I found out, by trial and error, I had to uncheck the GLOW uption in advanced graphic settings
I have just tried to login using the 64 bit client and have received 3 connection failed attempts, i.e. 20 attempts to login each time and then connection failed.
after switching back to 32 bit, standard login with no issues.
