I've been playing with my 9yo for years, and she's now at a point where she'd really appreciate group play with more than just me. She's a decent player, but also 9 :). I know there are other folks who play with their kids. I'm curious as to whether there are any kins out there helping kids get together to play.
We have a kin. If there's interest and nothing currently out there, we'd be happy to make Lonely Mountain Meercats a youth kin.
I used to play with my sons from they were about 8 and 10. Main game was WOW but we also played in an Asian-style game. It can be a truly great bonding experience and give some common interests and experiences but the main thing is - of course - that almost everything happens at a pace the kid likes.:)Quote:

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your Meercats! If you are doing group content I suggest you bring an adult tank & healer as those roles may be a bit too demanding to a young player.
I often bring my ten year old son along to group content, we even did Throne the other day. He plays a champ, and he's pretty good! I haven't let him join a kinship though, and I turn off world chat and ask him not to chat with other players yet unless we're in a group together - after all the internet is a funny place and I'm not quite ready for him to be interacting with a whole load of strangers. He has Xbox live, but only adds his school friends.
I agree LOTRO is a great game for kids to play, and with the amount of reading and maths involved it's a lot more educational than many games. Because of LOTRO, he's read both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in full, and we've shared a lot of fun together. I'm not sure how a child-friendly kinship would work though, especially when you can't tell if people are really kids. I know LOTRO's community is generally lovely, and maybe I'm behind the times, but I have my educationalist's hat on too, which makes me very careful about stuff.
I have played Lotro with my son and grandchildren.
Something to keep in mind...
They need to be monitored if they are a bit younger, like 6-7-8.
Remember that anyone coming across them in-game has no clue that they are 6-7-8...
Some kids have amazing literary skills when that young.
They can fool the best of us.
And, unfortunately, they can also be very easily tricked.
Just be careful.
A "kids" kin sounds like a great idea.
With an adult, responsible kin-leader.
This is what I was thinking. Sorry I wasn't clear. I was thinking of (grand)parents and kids joining with toons they play together. My kid only plays festivals by herself. We might be able to set up a Discord and schedule some times to group.Quote:
