Questions about soon-to-be-old LI skins

First off, I understand the old LI system and the new "Items of Legends" will coexist for the time being. And I understand this subject is super low priority.

On BR, the missing Moria LI barterers have been 'replaced?' by the Featured Instance npcs, which tells me there's some work being considered by the time Treebeard hits Moria endgame. The rest of the LI vendors in other areas or skirm camp are still present.

So, my question is: what is going to happen to all those LI appearances? Are there any plans to turn those items into cosmetic versions or do we eventually add them to the list of unobtainables? Any hints about the crafted LIs? Collectors/hoarders like me would appreciate some hint on what is going the way of dodo.

Several people have asked such.

We don't know the full plan yet as the New LI System will be an ongoing process into 2022 before it is "stable".

Main goal is getting the foundation of the New LI System into the game and flesh out it's various aspects over a series of Updates.

The interesting thing is that this has been asked in the General Discussion forums and the Bullroarer forum, and has been ignored by SSG.

Usually when they ignore questions there are three options:

1) They simply haven't seen it, and they may get to it later.... or cover it in an announcement.

2) They have seen it, went "whoops, we forgot about that!" and went to the drawing board to build something, and are not ready to announce.....

3) They have seen it, didn't care about it, and are hoping it will just go away on its own.... :D


The Moria vendors have been removed from Bullroarer and the Emblem of Nimrodel (which does still drop, I ran a Filikul really quick on Bullroarer) has become useless, as well as Moria end-game for the most part. I am now no longer looking forward to Moria endgame on Treebeard.... Dar Narbugud was so fun to run on Anor, but if there is to be no Emblem rewards..... well at least that one does still have armor.

The Roaming Threats vendors still exist and 1st age weapons can still be bartered from it. But for how long?

And then there is the MANY crafted LI's. Some are barely interesting, but almost all tiers have at least SOME really cool cosmetics, especially in the swords, axes, and staves department. Some of the maces are also very cool looking, and they have a purpose: The eastemnet and westemnet ones are very Rohiric looking, with the bow having little horse heads attached to it and such..... great for a Rohan type cosmetic build.

Are we really going to lose all of that? Or is it going to be shelved to "when we get around to it"? Or.... is there actually a plan here?

Exactly Marteena, I went to every LI vendor location in-game and I want to think the Moria ones not being there may mean they are working on something around that level range first and not every LI will vanish from the face of Middle Earth on day 1 of the new system.

I hadn't seen your thread or I wouldn't have started a new one xD thought about waiting till today's livestream but I honestly dislike having to ask on livestream chat.

So, from today's livestream at least, no concrete answers on this matter beyond the "we won't toss them (the LI skins)". I mean, that's good to know but kinda insufficient for ppl not to worry over the absence of Moria LIs NPCs.

I guess I'm still gonna collect the Moria ones I'm missing before the patch just in case it takes them a few years to reintroduce them.

So, if you are asking for day one access to the entirety of the old LI looks under the new system that is just not likely, but it seems likely we'll continue to use the skins in the future. The exact method of distribution and whether it becomes cosmetic or something else remains unknown at this time.

Yea I get that. I don't want to sound like looking for impossible demands.

But since only Moria barterers are gone from BR, I'm also trying to stay ahead of the phasing out of LIs. If all barterers are gonna disappear on day one that adds to the pressure... or just make peace with what's happening.

Understood. But what is the Moria end-game going to look like now that the Emblems of Nimrodel are no longer worth anything? Dar Narbugud has an armor set you can get, so there is that..... but the Filikul and Vile Maw raids have become obsolete if we can't run them to save up for 1st age weapons.

I completely get that this is a HUGE change that needs to be put in the game, and that not all side projects asociated get done in time, but with Moria end-game approaching on Treebeard (and already active on Shadowfax) I think you need to start with doing something for Moria end-game before it gets to that.

I would suggest that the Emblems of Nimrodel can be traded for new LI level up type items somewhere, or maybe a new armor set for level 60 that can be saved up for.

Going through my alt vaults now to see what LI's I had stashed away for years for my alts to use if they ever got that far. I usually just play my main but now I will identify all these LIs to see if any are worth keeping for later cosmetics. Sadly they'll never serve their purpose in combat.

It's too bad that weapons can't be added to the Wardrobe and then discarded like what can be done with armour.

They can't? Why not? I have bows, shields, runesatchels in my wardrobe, and just as any other type of cosmetic there you should be able to delete it again.

Wait, you can drag weapons into your Wardrobe? I know you can slot them cosmetically on your character but put them in the actual Wardrobe? I knew about Rune Satchels.

Yep, weapons, shields, all of them can be put in the wardrobe. The only restriction when it comes to LI weapons is that 1h weapons can only cosmetically be placed in the right hand for some reason. Even just cosmetically you can't equip a 1H LI in the left hand from the wardrobe. Would love to see that changed down the line if and when these skins return.

As for me, I've been trying to gather up LI skins that I like and store them away to use cosmetically. That's what I'd recommend for now unless they decide one day to just Thanos snap them out of existence and they totally vanish as items period. Though there's still certain ones I've been searching for for what feels like forever and can't find. The 2nd and 1st age pre level 60 ones can be particularly tricky to get as it is. So maybe one benefit is those might become easier to acquire down the line.

Weirdly enough there's a one-handed weapon from Sammath Gul that's meant to have the same appearance of that level 60 FA sword with the gold-trim and blue-gems.

It was the old way of having the sword on the off-hand.

How in the heck did I miss that you could put weapons in the Wardrobe? I can't believe I missed that and that I've never seen any mention of it in chat or on the boards. I'm gobsmacked.
