this is the worst moment for playing Lotro ive seem.

Ofc you can share your opinion on forums and get trampled from white dressed knights, asking you to share /played and telling you to get gut.

Its a SOLO MMO, not beginer friendly / founder here/ Comunity is UTER sh/t and prepare to run FAST while entering a dungeon/instance or you will get kicked or your quest/if you do any/ will fail. Problem is, you cant run fast like others because you dont have enough points to spend because your Veteran Rank is low. So yea, you will end up kicked or with failed quest/ ppl kill final boss before you blink. Battlegrounds there are fun. IF you are familiar with animation cancel and sh/t. If you are not, no fun for you. Its a fast pace.
WoW. (17y in it. I give up PvE 2y ago. So will speak about open world and pvp. Open world with war mod off, flooded. Both with farmers and farming bots. Yes there are plenty, but invisible. You will stil notice them when resource nodes disaperar right in front of you. Also plenty of ppl leveling /in most zone/ fast leveling ones atleast. So competiotion who kill mob first is hude. Im sure you know what i speak about. World with war fron on = flooded with small ###### d sindrom kids, spaming 3 skills on hunter and killing everything under their lvl or gear. No, they never step on arena, but they rock with their honor gear. Once killed you oftend get camped. If you dont know what it means no worries, you will learn. Solo que / arena . If you are dps prepare to get zero heals, and when ask for such you get "press buttons" or "get good" If you are healer prepare to get blamed 24/7. No matter that the m0f0 you want to heal constanly LoSing you and dying behind the pillar without pressin a single defensive cd. But with healer alteast you que time is short. Under 1 min. Wiht dps it goes to 1h. Tank get even longer que. In random BGs same story. Midle map warriors with no idea about the battlegroun objective. All they want is to spam keys and they do. LOTS. Rated arena and battlegrounds. Good luck if you dont have BiS gear AND achivment/ fresh, not one from 2-3y ago.
IF you have friends, then is kinda better/ but not much/ unless you have lots of friends.
So my friend. Its a hard choise. All games have downsides. Lotro isnt exeption. Its a casual chill game to play. Ye there are SOME ppl who think they are compeditive, and they can be. On local lvl.
For last years what Lotro do is to improve. Even more in last few months. SADLY lag improve too. And if there is a downside in lotro, lag is the biggest.
But again, you have tons of things to do in Lotro. If you dont like any, then move. But dont expect other games to be better.
Or just join FF and have fun with lots of girs with tails :D

Starting Lotro in 2022 (started in October), I have many, many years of content to play through (and repeat on all my alts because I'm an altoholic), and while I am working for years on all this content, they will be releasing content, so even when I am done with the existing content, there will be years of new content to play, rinse and repeat.
I feel sorry for you. Best advice I can give is pick up a second MMORPG to play while waiting on new content. The good news is that there are a number of well aged MMORPGs out there you can play while waiting that will have enough content to keep you busy for years... Everquest 1, Everquest 2, FFXIV, FFXI, Guildwars 2, ESO, DCU Online, Star Trek Online, Eve, WoW.

This is the problem with every MMO if you are just interested in cap game. Very repetitive. But Lotro has so many more options than other games for more casual players. I normally play the new content and even a few days/weeks end game if I like it and then level another character, decorate a house, play dress up, do some crafting, festivals, special events, clean storage etc. Some like RP, music and PvmP. There are so many options, I rarely get bored.Quote:

Yeah, if you are upset, take a break. But, also take a step back from that character maybe? Make a new character, get involved with other aspects of the game. Not everything has to be a grind to end-game gear.
Perhaps it is just me, but I've made enjoyment, and story and roleplay, and music every day I can in the game.
Sure, there are things to complain about at times, but nothing so bad discussion cannot fix.
Beyond the Shadow, that level 1 through 32 content ( if you take it slow, and read everything, as if you were a brand new player ) That, tells a great story, and does not make you feel like you havent accomplished anything. Making a new character class you've not played before also can give you stories you've not expected.
I dunno, I would say you are focusing on "end" and LOTRO isn't about an end, but a beginning.
Currently, the game is kinda stuck between two extremes but no middle-ground.
The massive end game grind for those who tolerate it, with high enough requirements to "keep people busy" - with daily/weekly wrappers for additional motivation. Some hardcore deeds would part of this, especially for the achiever and completionist types (treasure hunts, instance challenges, gather flowers 100/200/300 like in herbalist tiers lol, and all of those meta deeds that require completion of all regional deeds but there are hardly any interesting rewards in most regions). It's all made kinda "less repetitive" and more "convenient" through the use of mission/delving system, but it doesn't change the fact it's just grind, period, and now most of it isn't even part of landscape outside deeds. Some enjoy it, some don't.
Regarding the OP's post... The ironic part is that it took the OP so long to quit their VIP - because what they described has been part of this game for many many years. Always a grind fest at end of cap. Since they observe engagement with that sort of thing and players who don't quit no matter how much grind is thrown at them... well, that's why SSG continues to do this.
On the other hand, yes, just ignore all that and enjoy other activities of the game, although... some of those are still pretty grindy, constrained or forcing into repetitiveness, if we're talking a new character or your third, 4th and so forth. So while this works with LOTRO fanatics and lovers of this world, especially if they have some of that completionist flare or are willing to spend a lot of their time on just housing without any actual character progression (like I do sometimes), well... it's not exactly ideal for a true casual because it's still kinda extreme, especially in this age of gaming. And organic level up in a way that it's actually fun and allows you to take in the world (or explore nooks you might have missed previously because content didn't focus much on them) isn't exactly fast nor truly possible. So...
That's kinda true but not entirely if we talk casual (of 2020+ anyway). Dress up, house, festivals, RP, they're all amazing flavors, but effectively don't contribute to progression, and level cap rises higher and higher, which effectively forces any casual to decide between a sane pace of progression or other flavors of the game, rather than enjoy it all. Exploration of one of the greatest open worlds in video game history would be a huge appeal here, but even that is constrained by levels/quest routes, assuming you intend to progress your char. So the experience of meaningful (for progression) world exploration is lacking here.Quote:

I know some players and even devs may tell me "it's not needed, this is not that kind of game" but I don't see anything wrong with options and viable alternatives. Plus, some mmos are doing it on landscape... despite NOT being as open world as LOTRO is, so there is that.
They are designing the game exclusively for these people at this point, partly because there's almost no one else left, and partly because that's who they take feedback from (especially in private, anyone who browses a certain discord knows this).Quote:

There are things they could do to make Lotro fun again, but they aren't doing them. It's quite sad because I can remember when the game was active enough that we had multiple runs of ToO or OD or in a single week.
At this point I am just waiting to see what the next expansion looks like, maybe that's where all the developer resources are going, but I'm not optimistic.
If that's actually true, then even more reason to take care of their PR and presentation "a bit" more - no, seriously, a lot more, not just a bit. The website presentation is dull and they could try a bit different modern angle, but otherwise basically keep doing what they doing - not that it would hurt, attracting even more potential players with different interests = the better right? People may come here because "oh there is this MMO they haven't tried yet" or because "Tolkien" (in general terms, either casual because they're on Tolkien high or Tolkien geeks, but just, well, Tolkien). I doubt people really come here to explore because it's one of the biggest online spaces ever created (as far as sizes of continuous landmasses go) that also happens to be set in Middle-earth, one of highly-recognized and highly in demand fantasy worlds. It's not a well-presented information and the game looks dull and old fashioned in how it's described, what's there on official imagery etc. Based on their website you might as well say this is your typical mmo focused on raiding but less popular niche one so with poorer, smaller open world and somewhat inferior land design... oh the irony.Quote:
