Seeing as F2P players are part of the game isn't that counter productive? How do you test for F2P specific bugs e.g. if F2P's can/can't access VIP content; to verify that new quest packs actually work?
Not an issue for me as both my accounts are lifers but why block maybe 40% of the community from helping.

Its an issue with the way the billing system works. They've expressed a desire to open it to all account types, but are unable due to technical implementation at the moment. When they can do so, they will and will discuss it here.
Presumably content gating bugs are checked for at QA, and again in Bullroarer. (Bullroarer will be closed beta this time, but all account types will be there)
When things slip up, they are reported and rapidly fixed.

Re: The Palantir Private Preview Program
What is the typical turnaround time when you request to be part of the program to get an answer? Or does no news mean no go?
*edit* Nothing to see here, went back one page and got my answer. ./crosses fingers

We do not reply to the email applications. We simply don't have the resources for that.
We will post to this thread when a round of applications has been reviewed and invitations are sent.
Only those that are accepted to the program will get an email from us. So, if you applied, see a post saying we've sent invitations, and you did not get an email then you were not accepted to the program this time around, in which case you are free to reapply.

Yeah I got the jist when I looked back a page. Hopefully I didn't just "dumb" myself out of consideration :)
Thanks for responding!

Nah! They need dumb players too, to test if the content is too difficult. You might have just secured yourself a slot!
Heheheh. :)

How true. One of my colleagues at work is a self-confessed "dumb user", and is probably my mst valuable tester.

Place I used to work hired people to write our software manuals, that had no computer experience at all. We'd hand 'em a package, and say "Play with it. Write a manual." :-)

Re: The Palantir Private Preview Program
Could someone elaborate, please, on what "A few hours a week" could mean? One session/week of N hours, X sessions/week of 1 hour, daily sessions for Y hours? I'm guessing there's a reasonable lower bound to the time one needs to invest in order to be able to supply feedback of sufficient quality. :)

Kehleyr, Do you all accept bribes? If so, do you prefer cookies or pies? :D

Krispy Kremes. I hear they can't get 'em around their parts anymore.

I've always assumed that a flask of bloodwine never causes offence.

Re: The Palantir Private Preview Program
Kehleyr, The dev tracker suggests changes to the post at the top of this page but I'm not seeing any. Can you tell us what if any information you're adding or modifying in this thread?

This is just a hunch, but if she posted a reply to something and then perhaps changed her mind and deleted it, I would guess she's not going to tell you or anyone else what it was. And since she's likely not an admin on the live boards like Sapience, Celestrata, et al, she probably can't go in and delete the entry in the Dev Tracker without asking Live OCR to do so. Same as the last time she did that and you asked about it and you didn't get an answer. ;)

#1. Deleted posts don't show on the dev tracker. (That's what Google-Cache is for!) #2. Edits have time-stamps...[and yes, there were some elsewhere in the thread, just nothing today.] #3 Certainly I can't see how asking hurts anyone.
(And who knows..maybe asking about it'll get OCR to give her the toggle to show 'dev tracker' on post/edit if she doesnt have it already.)

Well, yes, they obviously do, as my two posts prove.
In any event, if there is information I need to communicate here, trust me, you would know it. I don't phantom post things and expect you to try and hunt it down.
Ayrolen had the right of it. I made a post, changed my mind, deleted it. End of story.

Re: The Palantir Private Preview Program
I rather enjoy a hunt.....
Question about re-applying, you mentioned re-applying is encouraged. How does one know when they need to apply again or if they haven't been picked? I'd prefer not to spam you with different applications, however eager I am. Is there a span of time I should worry about applying again?

When a batch of invitations has been sent, I post here letting you all know. The last batch was sent on May 2nd.
Only those invited will get an email. All applications that weren't accepted are deleted.
So, if you see me post the invites went out and you didn't get one, that's your cue to apply again. :)

I stand corrected. I'll assume the other posts deleted from the tracker itself were manually removed in some other fashion then.

Re: The Palantir Private Preview Program
I'm sure the dev's cant comment because it would violate the NDA but I'm so curious what's on Palantir. It's not RoI beta so I wonder if it's content beyond that. Are they already roaming around Gondor marching on the black gate? Are they one update ahead of live servers or several? I'll probably never know unless I get accepted one day. But it's fun to speculate.

Hah, I think you're overestimating the speed at which content is designed. Beta (alpha?) programs like these typically are just a giant heap of content in development. Once testing is done and it's given a rough polishing, it can be packaged into some sort of beta.
Staying with LOTRO's Book structure: you get a nice hardcover presented every couple of months. Palantir gets a chapter, sometimes only a few paragraphs per dev cycle (which, looking at development in my company, could be anything from daily to monthly) to test.
So saying that Palantir must already be in Gondor is .. wrong :P They might have something that could possibly be used in the Gondor part at some point in time. Chances are that they don't even know it's with that intention. Mostly, they'll just be working a few paragrahps ahead of the rest.
