See yer there, hobbits!

GDF survival tips
Given that the Dragon can become ever so busy on some Friday nights, please remember the following (in addition to the Lorebook linked in the first post):
GDF is a hobbit event, with a few travelling dwarves welcome. If tall people want to participate, they are encouraged to roll up a hobbit.
Be careful with the use of emotes, so you don't spam your surroundings. Less is often more! Fireworks are best used outside.
The entertainment hub near the fireplace with the dancing rug can become very busy, not least with introduction of entertainers, poetry recitals and the likes. If you want to engage in long conversations with someone, the inn is roomy enough that it is possible to have them a little away from the crowd. Also, enabling chat bubbles usually makes it easier to keep track of things said.
If you want to entertain the crowds, send a /tell to the "Master of Ceremonies" hobbit (usually myself) to sign up and get a slot (entertainment offers in /say often drown in the wall of text). Tonight may be busy, so we'll just have to see how many there are room for. Just remember, if there is no time for you, there is always next Friday, or the one following!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
The warmup party last Friday sure was lively, and this coming Friday we're ready for the main event! Including the pie baking competition and prizes for the arts competition.
If yer want to look at the arts competition entries, they are all here

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Tonight is the night, hobbits! Welcome to the GDF 4th anniversary main party! Pie baking competition, awards for the arts competition, music, dancing and merriment. It is likely a busy night, so there may not be room to open for many entertainment offers, but we'll see what we can do!
And, we'll round it all off with a massive fireworks display afterwards (the weather forecast says it'll be a dark, clear night when we're done), so bring your own and join the fun! But remember, Barmy hates it if yer set them off indoors...
8PM GMT+1 in Bywater, hobbits! Welcome!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Thanks fer the picture, Mellam!
Else, it has been a busy week of all things Green Dragon. So, thank yer all who came to the parties, helped out, entertained us, danced them nights away and participated in the competitions! And rest assured, on Friday we're back to normal, with the looser and more spontaneous GDF's we usually have, with ever more room for yer all to take the center stage *smiles*
A small writeup about them parties can be read over at me burrow. Else, here are a few images from the events, accompanying the Green Dragon Anniversary Song (best watched in fullscreen/HD quality, if possible). Only one more year until we can sing it again!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
From yesterday, and as posted at me burrow:
Grumpy Hobbit
The inn was loud and lively and the ales of spring did flow
Young hobbits danced upon the rug, their faces all aglow
But from the back, complaints and hacks, and tales of dread and woe
From the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
He scolds them younger hobbits as they stumble by his chair
He curses as they play too loud, the swearwords fill the air
The ale is way too warm tonight, no pie is sweet enough
Says the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
There’s dancing on the tables and the room is way too dark
There’s no respect fer gaffers, and this is his sole remark
That everything is just plain wrong, no thing is good enough
Says the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
There was a time he too was young and sang a merry tune
Him dancing on the rug made all the lasses stop and swoon
The hours at the inn grew late with ales and pies and song
With the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
But as the years went by he found his hair was turning grey
And try though as he might his body wouldn’t let him sway
No joy and happy days no more as old friends passed away
From the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
The inn is loud and lively and the ales of spring they flow
And sitting in his chair the grumpy hobbit looks aglow
The memories of yesterday bring happiness tonight
To the old man in the chair
Grumpy hobbit
Best sung to the tune of "Home from the Forest" by Gordon Lightfoot.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
*clears throat*
To the inn again
Just can't wait to get to the inn again.
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can't wait to get to the inn again
Green Dragon Friday once again, hobbits! Welcome from 8PM UK/3PM servertime!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I'm returning to the game this weekend and will be having a fresh start on Laurelin, looking forward to it immensely. I haven't decided which race to roll yet, but coming across this thread almost makes me want to roll a Hobbit just to be apart of this event - looks awesome guys/gals

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Yer shall be most welcome if yer do, mister! Hobbits are grand fun indeed!
They say it is Friday again! Which means music and merriment, dancing and drinking, grand gossips and whatever else them hobbits can rustle up. 8PM UK/3PM servertime hobbits, welcome to Bywater!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I haven't been sure what to roll, I fancied a Man - Champion or a Hobbit Ministrel. SO I thought I'd so both. I'm going to start the Hobbit Ministrel when I get home from work tonight and hopefully I'll run my way over to the Green Dragon for a visit and to say Hi.
I'm new to the server and to RP but can't wait to get started and hopefully will end the night with new friends. I'm probably name my new character Bradbic (hope it's not taken) so look out for me :)
(I've since learnt that I didn't migrate from Codemasters and hence have had to start again anyway, tut)
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Twas grand ter meet ye Bradbic and hope ter see ye again in the many Green Dragons ter come.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
