windows: go to mycomputer, click on the drive that has your program files on it, click on program files folder, click on the turbine folder(or what ever folder it is in), copy the The Lord of the Rings Online folder and paste it on to an external hard drive, connect the flash/jump drive or external hard drive to your other computers and you can copy it in to the folder where your lotro file is store and delete the non updated version. You will need to drag the mce short cut from the The Lord of the Rings Online folder to your desktop. The mce shortcut has a ring with an arrow on it next to it.
You might be able to email it to your self if you don't have an external hard drive, but flash/jump drives don't have enough space.
but when one is 32 bit and one 64 ?

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
*chuckles wanly* My laptop pulled off patching before the server went down; I'd booted up the loader on a whim, and blam! Suffices to say that my other computer seems rather bent on waiting a few hours to patch. So it goes, right? I'm hoping that doing my duty and complaining to the aether that is the Internet will trick it. <__< But still, whenever it happens it happens, right? :D

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
I feel an insatiable desire to complain about something, so... I'll complain about all the people complaining, just to be different.
On another note, this topic is now "official" :)

I've changed the title of this thread with the hopes that it will help those who might have missed it and prevent the creation of multiple threads.

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
this thread has kept me entertained all morning...usually run a few skirms and work an alt or two at work, but this is almost as good... apparently no one remembers what updates/patches were like back in the days of dial-up combined with EQ.... now learn the patience of the elders before you...

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
I can't play for next 2 days, only tonight I can. I don't care if I can't patch now, as long as I don't see threads like SERVERS ARE UP, CYA IN GAME while I'm still watching connection failed error. Obviously I want to get a peek into the expansion before I go busy irl.

Indeed, it was a quick patch, I noticed that when my laptop got it hours ago. As for the updater, Sapience stated on Twitter that leaving the Launcher up could cause it to bug, and get stuck if left open. He advised we keep restarting it, in an attempt to get a good connection. Regardless, my manual update of my wife's machine is now finished, so I can finally sleep easy.

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
all this blah could have been prevented with a simple standalone download like they did before freetoplay. Hope they use these again in future expansions.
-
Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
Well, they do have several times more people trying to patch now than they did with previous patches, if interviews and nielsen ratings are to be believed. So that would explain the stress.

LOTRO is 32-bit software, so this is a non-problem.

That was only in Europe I believe. And it wasn't f2p but Mirkwood expansion iirc, if we're talking about the same thing.

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
Took a bit of time to get in. When I started the client this morning the patch servers were down. Once I got in, patching took 20 minutes or so. The game world servers are still down. I am following the twitter feed.
I came in with the f2p beta last spring. This is the first expansion I have experienced as such. Given the things that major roll-outs reveal that beta testing can't, even with a 30 t0 60 day open beta to attempt to have a large enough testing population to find obscure issues, stuff still happens and some of them are show-stoppers.

Six computers, all of them stuck on "Connect" for at least an hour. Saruman mucking up the works, I reckon. I knew this "Isengard" place was going to be trouble! :P

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
Please, all of you stop trying!
so I can update :)

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
I patched and got to the screen where you enter username and password. I attempted to get into my realm and could not so I figured I would restart the client. Now I am at the beginning screen again with the repeated 1 minute connection retries. Kinda silly. Ah well.
-
Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
Any word on why the Clients won't connect?

I know people who are addicted enough to patch in the middle of the night. I think it doesn't matter what time they choose to launch the patch. I've seen Kiwi's and people from Japan complaining too.
Y'all should try to be a bit patient and give Turbine a break on this. They are working very hard to get things running as smoothly as they possibly can.
There's nothing you can do against a horde of LOTRO fans who all want to be the first player to walk into Dunland. Yes, I want to be in there from the first minute, too. But I realise I'm not the only one. This was totally expected to happen. I heard it's the same with every major (landmass) update of the game.

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL
Still unable to connect to the patch servers here. :(
Have been trying for 40 minutes, restarted the client several times.
