Yay Lotti! Grand to hear from yer again, a very merry yule to yer! *cheers*
Speaking of yule: Here are the plans for the Green Dragon Friday yule parties this year:
The official GDF yule party: Friday December 27th, in the Green Dragon at the usual time. More information here.
The GDF new years party: Friday January 3rd, in the Plough and Stars in Brockenborings! Usual time, though. More information here.
Have a grand and lovely yule, hobbits!

Tonight is the Green Dragon Friday yule party! Welcome hobbits, to a yule-themed inn night in Bywater! Bring yule-ish news and entertainment! And come have some yule fun!
8PM UK time (3PM Servertime) in Bywater as usual, hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome. See yer!
-
It is the GDF New Year's party today! And as we traditionally do, we host this party in Brockenborings, at the Plough and Stars. After all, Barmy is likely still cleaning up after the yule party...
Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual! Usual GDF guidelines apply.
Given the date, we just might need us a toast to that grand writer Ronald Dwale too, about one hour into the event!
-
Happy new year one and all! After a visit to Brockenborings last Friday, we're back in the Green Dragon tonight at the usual time; 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome, hobbits and dwarves!
The order of the night is loose as usual, but expect music and dancing, gossiping, news, drinking and a lively lovely time. Entertainers are very welcome - just sign in with whoever is hosting the event (preferably by a /tell)
Time permitting, we might have a mini-wassail too as part of the event, we'll see how it goes!
Please note: Green Dragon Friday is an event for and by hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome. This means that we ask men and elves to stay away from the event (although by all means come in to do any quests yer may have in the inn). This is not because we're mean and hate yer, but because we try to create a somewhat lore-relevant inn night every Friday. Men were a rare sight in the Shire inns, and most local hobbits in Bywater had never laid eyes upon an elf. Should yer want to join the event, please roll up a hobbit instead - it is marvellous fun!
-
Another Friday, another Green Dragon Friday! Perhaps even one with a dance lesson? We'll see! What is sure, though, is that there will be a lot of music, drinking, gossips and news. And whatever else them locals can think of.
8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual in Bywater. Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves!

A busy weekend awaits in the Shire, with lots of parties! However, we'll start in Bywater, where the Green Dragon is open as usual for hobbits all around. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment!
Please note: Green Dragon Friday is an event for and by hobbits.
- Travelling dwarves are welcome (but we surely love it if yer come as a hobbit)
- We ask men and elves to stay away from the event (although by all means come in to do any quests yer may have in the inn).
This is not because we're mean and hate tall fellows. It is simply because we try to create a somewhat lore-relevant hobbit inn night every Friday (as we have for close to six years now). Men were a rare sight in the Shire inns, and most local hobbits in Bywater had never laid eyes upon an elf.

It is Highday/Friday, which is the seventh day of the Shire week, and a day hobbits consider a holiday. Highday is traditionally celebrated with evening feasts, and usual, hobbits will meet at the Green Dragon in Bywater. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment!

I was priveleged to participate last week even though I hadn't read this post or any others, but heard about it in the Pony. Hence I brought a woman along. I thoroughly enjoyed it and intend to be ther next week (RL stuff forces me to stay away this week). I now have a hobbit who is trying his best to level up (so he has his own surname). Claralyn will stay in the Pony but Gennetta and Garretd will be there and if allowed will play a reel or jig.
Garretd would love to sing: he has such a cute voice but my typing is not fast enough to put his wry Hobbit parody lyrics into the window. Is there a quick way of doing this, do you know? I've done some searching but come up with nothing. Cut and paste is so slow!
Thank you, and see you very soon.
-
Hullo there! Grand yer enjoyed it!
Most singers in-game use a plugin called Lyrical. That will store yer song lyrics/poems/stories, and yer can send new lines into the game by a click of the mouse in sync with yer song.
Yer can get Lyrical here: http://www.lotrointerface.com/downlo...5-Lyrical.html

Another Friday means another Green Dragon Friday! The doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK/BST as usual (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
One thing that is likely to be discussed tonight is the sudden increase of the shrew population in the Shire. It seems some hobbits even bring them into the inns! Barmy has been seen shaking his head over this and is likely to start putting out traps to catch the little pests. The shrews, that is, not the hobbits. So, please consider leave yer pets outside, them have no real place in an inn where food is served and hobbits want to relax and dance.
As usual, GDF is an event for and by hobbits. While a few travelling dwarves are always welcome, we kindly ask that men and elves don't attend the event, since they were a rare sight in the Shire of the books. We'd rather keep this as a hobbit event, where hobbits can be themselves and act naturally, without being scolded (or even stepped on) by the big folk.

Do you hear what I hear? Yes, it is the lure of Friday calling! Which means another hobbit inn night at the Green Dragon! The doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK/BST as usual (3PM servertime). Be welcome!

Another Friday, another Green Dragon Friday! The weekly inn night for hobbits is on again as usual, and the the doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
A few reminders about the general guidelines for the event:

Also, there has been a slight, but unfortunate increase in OOC dialogue in the /say channel in recent months (not just at the Dragon, but on Laurelin at large). I'd like to politely remind our patrons about the general RP guidelines that is in effect in Laurelin, not least the one specifically labelling the /say channel as in-character. There are of course many opinions about what in-character may be, but the linked guidelines states that '“In character” means that all chat must abide by the lore of The Lord of the Rings'. For me, that would rule out dialogues as "Hi, I saw you on server xxx last week" and references to stuff outside of Tolkien's world (for instance, ninjas). This is not a huge problem still, but the signs of increased OOC are there.
So please remember: We'd like to keep GDF as an event that fosters hobbit roleplaying and fun, open for newcomers and veterans alike. We'd rather not have it turn into a social hangout where the lore gets thrown out of the window (or under the rug, worn though it may be). Although we are far away from the latter still, please remember to keep the server RP policies in mind, and I am sure we'll get along swimmingly!

What to look forward to? A good-natured evening at the inn, sampling the local ales. Hobbit gossip and news. Dancing and drinking. Music. Poetry. Stories. Riddles. Or similar things. Hope to see yer there, hobbits!
Just remember the general guidelines for the event:

Due to the Farmer's Faire making a mess of things over in Bywater, Green Dragon Friday will move to different venues the coming two weeks. So, here are the plans:
Friday September 5th: Golden Perch Friday, at the Golden Perch in Stock.
Friday September 12th: Andy Brockhouse Birthday Friday, at Andy Brockhouse's stall just outside of the Shire Homesteads.
Both events start at the usual GDF time, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Usual GDF policies apply as well, so these are events for hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome.
Welcome, hobbits! Hope yer manage to find them new locations! GDF will be back in Bywater come September 19th!
-
It's Friday! Time for another Green Dragon Friday...
... But wait! The Farmer's Faire is still on, so it is being relocated again!
Instead, we will be heading over to the Southfarthing Gate (near the entrance to the Homesteads) to celebrate Andy Brockhouse's Birthday with a Green-Dragon-Style evening!
The event starts at the usual GDF time, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Usual GDF policies apply as well, so these are events for hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome.
GDF will be back in Bywater come September 19th!

Up and at it, Dragoneers! Friday is Highday and the happiest day in the hobbit week! And now that the mayorly deeds in Bywater is well over with, we're safe and sound back at the Green Dragon again. Sticky rug and high ale prices and all.
The doors to the weekly hobbit inn night open as usual at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
