Well, I hope you manage to solve it.:)

10y of lotro. Never had lag spikes in skirmish til today.
12 ppl Pony raid. Everyone laged.
Outside, in open world, like 5 seconds til skills respond.
Good that i finish my raid yesterday / with few spikes, but playable.
Update work, sever run smoother, BUT, with the event and all give aways, server population is like doubled.
Now with almost 2k no annon players it run smoother than before / with 1k oknline/ but overal performance is workse because of high population.
Something neeed to be done, and fast.
Fast?
Nice joke ;-)
Ok. I am on a german server and there are lags since Turbine took over the service from Codemasters in June 2011. Sure, Codemasters was just the Publisher in Europe. But it ran smoothly.
We had the hope of European Server, and Turbine said this time, that they were planning a data center in Europe.
But this hope was finally killed in 2016. (https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...-Center-Update)
Let's celebrate the 11th Anniversary of Lags on Europe Servers at June 1st.
..
pff... "fast"....
Nobody talks about lags anymore on Gwaihir. We know it never gets better. And it's annoying to talk about that lags every single day in a week. We've learned to play with the lags.
"Fast" is not demanding or rushing them. By fast i mean we will get more new ppl, even more when series are out, and at some point we wont be able to play.
So by fast i mean "starting now" and take time to fix it some, so we wont get backlash effect at some point.
About the general lag, we all experience it m8, we are playin on the same server you know. Its one hamster for us all, and we are well aware that hamster is old and tired.
And sadly is not THAT lag, it evolve and is way worse from what we have
Login server roulette last night, needless to say, I didn't win.
7 attempts before I could log one toon, after trying various.
Is there any point in having a forum if you're not going to actively engage with the community?
Does active engaging with community on forum helps to resolve problems fast? Guess what, no. Since issue with log in servers and lags happens not just for you and devs can reach this info way faster than you think. So dont expect answer by ssg for every comment you make. Also it might be a big surprise for you, but lotro team never was so active on forums like now.
the LAG is the fault of all the LM using Sic em in the raid at once.. oh wait they can't
Thank you for that insight, very useful.
If they can access this information, quicker than I think!? maybe they can fix/communicate it.
After all, is it an in-game ticket now or on the forum where we raise these issues or should I just be ignorant and write pointless forum replies?
Drivers all green, playing from EU since start of the year, never felt lag like this. Great River, Eregion, West Rohan.
SSG obviously heavily underestimated how many new players will come. But now what? Yay, player numbers are highest in a decade. But lag probably too and if it continues to be as horrible, many of those new players will stop playing and SSG will lost many potential customers. How are they not seeing this? Even saying "this server is under heavy load, please try starting on different one" in launcher would help mitigate huge numbers in popular servers like Evernight.
Devs, please, do something, and communicate about it. F2p changes were nice and game needed that so much, but it needs better servers or something even more, or you will lose players.
SSG won't do anything about the lag on Evernight. They view the "problem" as temporary due to the Anniversary event and, once the event finishes, everything should then return to normal. The problem is simply the sheer numbers of players all wanting to participate in the Anniversary event, clearly SSG just did not expect quite so many players to return and/or try out the game during this event. The lag and the login queues will last for a couple of weeks then, hopefully, things will return to normal because most of those returning players will once again stop playing and many of the new players will simply give up due to the horrible experience of lag and login queues! But it's only EU players who have this problem, the NA servers are fine which means NA players aren't having any lag, login queues or any other issues, so, as far as SSG are concerned, everythings just fine!
Raninia my friend, any update?
I have been touching grass, please can i have some server performance?
:)
Landroval was impossible to quest in after 8pm Pacific tonight - playing from Sacramento using Comcast.
I've run several tracert gls.lotro.com (was on the networking post - not sure if this is still correct, but only one I could find) and they all end the same way....
1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.68.1
2 24 ms 29 ms 37 ms 10.60.139.130
3 9 ms 10 ms 9 ms 68.87.203.145
4 9 ms 10 ms 11 ms 96.216.129.25
5 14 ms 11 ms 9 ms 96.216.129.21
6 * * * Request timed out.

8 83 ms 83 ms 88 ms 4.31.43.210

10 * * * Request timed out.
No idea who to contact or if anything can be done, but wanted to post here.
Everyone's trace ends that way now because the facility to report was turned off in proximity to the datacentre/game servers. Looks like a healthy trace given your location and distance to NJ.
It's good for us to actually check if it is indeed "us" before we cry out how it's unplayable. So tracert will give us a hint at a problem being elsewhere. But when /wc is full of comments and the filter tools are being stretched as well, it maybe unnecessary.
Tried to do instance but could barely move or use any skills, nothing happens when you press a skill, mobs are stopping in place and lagging too, it was the same for everyone in the fellowship
is ssg aware?
Utterley unplayable and hellacious today!
As a relatively new player (started playing LOTRO 2 weeks before the anniversary event) I'm not yet very "attached", but the game itself is very enjoyable. But lately I found myself loggin in to do some questing and eventually give up after 10min of trying to use my skills and nothing happening, "Already in use" popups, "Target to far" popups while skating my way from one point to another.
"Request timed out" from a "tracert" means only that a device in the path is declining to respond to ICMP ECHO packets. That's all that it means.
If you try a "traceroute" from a *nix box, it uses a different technology, by default (UDP packets, rather than ICMP), and it may succeed where "tracert" fails. Or, it may also fail. Again, it's just a matter of how the network infrastructure is configured to respond to different types of packets, to/from different ports, etc.
If you want to really see how the communication is working between your client and the server, fire up a packet-capture tool such as Wireshark and analyze the traffic.
Or, leave network troubleshooting to those qualified to perform it...
I've spent the past few hours in yondershire just to complete the quests and deeds and its borderline unplayable. Click on npc for quests and wait 10 seconds for it to pop up, try to fight anything and wait 10 seconds for skill to go off and then 10 more seconds to register the kill...it's horrible lately
Thanks for this.
I'd always felt a tracert could only hint at problems when it's the UDP we'd rather have the data on. But is anyone qualified looking at the high pop traffic if there's no one in the know to tell them to? Assuming there is, is the impact on the game a discussion point even? Might have been deemed acceptable losses long ago. Is our connection status likely reporting UDP, thrashed on loading a character into game?
A while back, Cord asked folks to send specific data to help diagnose the issue. I think he got plenty of response from that -- although I confess I haven't personally sent anything -- but so far, no status update on what they're doing with that data, other than a rate-limiting/-throttling change that was made a few months ago, and seems to have had negligible effect. I think that was from a code review, though, not necessarily from user-submitted data.
With the very greatest respect - I say this earnestly - you MUST send the info and you must encourage everyone you know to send info too. A bit like RL voting, unless they get a good sample, how can they identify the problem or even take it seriously if people don't respond. Sorry for butting in but I feel very strongly about this both with LotRO and with RL voting/info gathering. If you don't add your info/vote, it's then difficult to complain about how schite things are.
I've never worked in IT...But surely there's no point in sending data if every single user is experiencing the same poor performance? SSG could just log into their own PCs at the office and experience the same...
Really bad stuttering tonight on Evernight. Taking between 5-10 seconds just to open a door in Yondershire. Hopefully it will be better once the festival tourists have gone next week although it was getting bad again in the run up to the festival.
Normally lag comes and goes. At the moment its non-stop.
this is surely the worst it has ever been, constant freezing, lag, rubber banding.
SSG will you please do something about this
