Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I should clarify that I didn't mind the comment about going back to the Pony. I just heeded it because I didn't want to disrupt things further. Perhaps one day I'll roll a hobbit and attend another Green Dragon event, because you're all the gem of the server.
And I also agree that I've never felt that hobbits are out of place in the events of Bree, but I've also seen elves give up their mystique to lord it up among the primitives that is comparable to an earlier comment about humans coming to stare at the "circus freaks." I'm not completely complaining as I believe the more the merrier, but I only mean I can relate.
And I agree that the lore and to some extent immersion (I say "to some degree" because I've seen in the past at other online rpg's people expect much more out of people than they should for the sake of their immersion. To me I consider rp more of collective storytelling than personal immersion, which is to say I'm willing to bend my character, even if it's unfair to me to some extent, to help people tell interesting stories. If one is too focused on immersion they can often forget the bigger picture. I gmed at uo shards and Illarion.org so I may have just developed this philosophy as a tool of facilitating play as a gm.) is important. The last two posters have been very kind and welcoming so don't think this is a criticism to you two (or even the vast majority of players here) but some people use lore as a hammer to bash people's heads in with rather than as a tool for building rp.
In any case, I've focused far too much on the negative in this post. Most of you are fabulous and the music and poems are wonderful. I am only replying to the earlier comments about how the event was "ruined" and I can even understand the dismay of those posters, which is why I don't plan to go back again, because even if I go as a guest of a hobbit and try to observe and be subtle, I'm only adding to the crowd of people too tall to jump to the Bywater Jumping Song without hitting their heads. =)
Maybe someday to quell the curiosity of the tall folk there could be a hobbit expedition into Bree so we can hear all those great songs and poems and hop along with our hobbit friends.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Hope that last night's event went well :)
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
It was a lovely evening, Master Bango, thank you for asking. And thank you for that excellent pipeweed and honeybrew you sent us, you are a most kind and generous hobbit indeed! It made the evening very merry, with a lot of toasting to your health...

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I remember these event series used to be more race strict, and members of other races were requested to roll a hobbit instead before attending. Ofcourse I can understand the organizers do not want to bother policing the event. Instead they spend their time on positive things and carry on having fun. I respect the organizers' decision in this, but I think it's a mistake.
By making it clear this is a Hobbit Only Roleplay Event and send away an elf for the sake of twenty others, well boohoo to the party pooper. Attention seekers everywhere. Don't give in!! A kind request to please go somewhere else for two hours or log a hobbit, can't hurt to try get it right? It's only for a few hours each friday? Technically speaking, is it so hard to respect a group of people who happen to enjoy roleplaying a hobbit, who borrow the hobbit tavern for only a few hours each week to have their Shire immersion bubble unaffected? How hard is it really, to roll a hobbit for the occasion? It's a great race, and completing the tutorial alone (30 mins of your time) makes you high enough level to walk to the green dragon safely, and become a true partaker of this great event series?
I suppose to many this might seem very strange, Cymaru The Patient Pony waitress furiously wishing to have it more race-properly... In the Pony I roleplay with almost anybody, although I am quite picky and avoid roleplaying with elves and other very unlikely characters if I can. I am quite able to filter out characters that don't fit my LOTR world inside the Pony, because it is a collection of individuals who barely know eachother.
And there is the major difference with the Green Dragon Fridays. The GDF group is a tight knit group of hobbity individuals who know eachother quite well. If you come in as a new hobbit you will be part of the group, simply because you're a hobbit. People are so kind there, it is a true gem on this server. For me, things go wrong the moment the Hobbit group seems to accept other races into the group as regulars. This way I cannot filter out the "unfitting" characters anymore, since the GROUP is interacting with them as if it were the norm.
This is bugging me ever since I had a silly discussion with a regular elf who came dancing along every friday, she made me leave. There. I said it.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I am still suffering from severe schedule mismatches regarding GDF, but should be able to participate more again in couple of weeks. :) Bonkadoc will have something pretty exciting to show everyone too!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Excellent, master Bonkadoc! More taters please!
Else, it is time for more Green Dragon Trivia:
Green Dragon Trivia no 5 - Dancing
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-k...520dancing.jpg
While there's no telling what will happen on any given Green Dragon Friday (except much talk about food and complaining about ale prices), one thing is certain: There will be music, and the hobbits will dance.
Always partial to lively dance tunes, like reels, jigs and waltzes, hobbits are rarely hard to ask onto the dance floor (although for some reason, lads are usually a bit harder to sway than the lasses). Most hobbits will play modest to begin with and claim they are not really good dancers. However, as soon as they get going, there's no stopping them, especially after they have visited the dance trainers during one of the seasonal festivals. After all, dancing is just stumbling in an orderly way, and the best part is that you can eat even more than usual after a lively night on the dancing rug.
Recently, many hobbits have taken up the art of synchronized dancing, not least after many recurring dance practice sessions on Green Dragon Fridays. Ask one of the regulars if you want to try it yourself!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Once again the week has turned full circle and it's Green Dragon Friday!
Alas I will not be able to be there tonight and I have commitments elsewhere, but have fun!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
It is Friday, and as yer know, every Friday is Green Dragon Friday! So bring yer hobbits to Bywater this evening! (and do take a quick look at the guidelines for the event, as specified in the first post of the thread).
Oh, and here's the latest Green Dragon Trivia!
Green Dragon Trivia no. 6 - Home Sweet Home
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-v...252520home.jpg
The Shire is home to many lovely songs and tunes, but over the years, few are as instantly recognizable as "Home Sweet Home". Not least because someone has taken to playing it every Friday, as a parting song after the end of yet another Green Dragon Friday.
Where the song originated from is uncertain, some even say it has its roots out of bounds! Over the years, though, the words have been changed and adapted into comforting words suitable for Shire-loving hobbits, who join in the chorus before going home after another lively night at the inn. So stay until the end and sing along if yer like! Because be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!
For lyrics and a bit more background information about the song, have a look here

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
A grand time at the Dragon tonight; songs, news, stories, poems and the usual lovely banter. It even extended into a pie party at the homesteads afterwards. Good hobbity times!
September 2nd is the date Tolkien passed away in 1973, and I pondered a bit on how to make a tribute to him without bringing his name into the game. The solution was a set of lyrics to the tune Planxty Fanny Power. Hope yer liked it!
Bards of Old
A table near the fireside
A weathered quill whose tip is dry
A parchment white as winter's snow
That's all you need to make stories grow
So grab that quill and start your tale
Of Shirefolk and their love for ale
A life that's blessed in many ways
As hobbits enjoy long and happy days
Perhaps you will write of the dwarven halls
Where metals are found in the rough-hewn walls
Of elves going west 'til they reach the seas
They sail off in ships built from hulky trees
So come raise your mugs to the bards of old
Who still entertain as their stories are told
Whose words resonate with us over the years
They bring happy laughter and mournful tears
There's stories of the kings of old
Who fought their wars over land and gold
Of barrow downs where spirits haunt
You'll even hear tales of an oliphaunt
The darkest tales come from the east
Of lands where life has all but ceased
Of armies soon to disembark
To cover the lands in a second dark
But you are all safe in your home tonight
Enjoying the stories by candlelight
Your life feels much better because they are told
Remember who wrote them in times of old
So come raise your mugs to the bards of old
Who still entertain as their stories are told
Whose words resonate with us over the years
They bring happy laughter and mournful tears

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I had a great time last friday. Though I never could think I would get nervous reallife when I had to play, neither that I would nearly panic when you all wanted a second song :p
Sadly fridays ain't a good time for me to show up, but I try bringing melindy as often as I can to a green dragon fridays.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
You did great, Melindy! I hope you come back and play again.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
You were grand, so you were. Look forward to seeing you again in the future. And as fer nerves.... *shudders* I know that one.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Another Friday, and as yer know, every Friday is Green Dragon Friday! So up and at it, hobbits!
In addition to the usual good-natured hobbit banter, news, music, poetry, riddles etc, there just might be dancing lessons too!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Friday again, and it is business as usual in the Green Dragon. So bring yer hobbits over fer dancing and drinking and poetry and the likes!
Oh, and as always, the latest in hobbit news. There should be quite a bit of it tonight!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Just want to give this event a big thumbs up! I don't go as often as I would like but when I have done I have been amazed by the amount of hard work and dedication that goes into it.
It is also the small touches that I love and for me there is no funnier than "Matzo Shenanigan", sitting on his chair and passing comment on everything going on. Absolutely wonderful!. For anyone familiar with the BBC Comedy Series "Early Doors" for me he is the Shire's own version of "Tommy".
May this event continue to prosper and grow.
Cheers!
Bango.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Another Friday and another Dragon!
Unfortunately it will be another I miss due to having to work on my Dad's farm *shakes fist*
((I am working during a GDF once again, but wanted to wish everyone a Belated Happy Hobbit Day!))
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Good times! There were many hobbits at the Dragon tonight, with a few wandering dwarves keeping us company as well! In addition to the entertainment (courtesies of Primmrose, Rhemo, Poffo, Sevelda, Lingard, Bordobac, Melindy, Jadite and The Chosen Few, apologies if I forgot someone), dancing (most everyone) and good-natured banter (well, besides that grumpy old feller...), we rounded the night off with a display of fireworks!
Keeping it in the spirit of that notorious party at Bag End a decade or two back, there was even a dragon firework set off, to the enjoyment of most, but also to the scares and frights of a few. Not least one unfortunate lad whose eyebrows got rather singed by the rocket. Serves him right fer playing pipes in the Dragon, though *smiles sweetly*
Anyways, here are some pictures from the fireworks display.

OOH Lina, you forgot Primmrose, with another new song! But she forgives you, because she was on very early in the programme.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Eek! I should have known better than to write me notes just after coming home from the Dragon *blushes* And a fine song it was too! *apologizes and updates*
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I believe that is Master Trotgard saying it? And he does sum it up quite nicely. Grand!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Another Friday at the Dragon! Should be a fine one too; songs and poems have already been offered, and there are news to gossip about. Welcome hobbits!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Sadly, travels bring me somewhere else again today
would it be possible to get a short version of the shire-news? :D

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
i hope to be there with pie and custard

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
What happened to that Rurydoc fellow...?
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Rurydoc?
Now that caught my attention whilst skimming the forum after days of imposed neglect. Rurydoc is Lothilia's husband, and he's enjoying fishing, and boundering IC'ly. OOC'ly, he left the game a long, long time ago, and I miss him very much. :(
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Well if he would be able to get the darn game to install then maybe he would come back...?
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
By my shorts is it YOU?!
:D Well if you manage to load the game, welcome back sir! :D Maybe you can come play with my Nillumiea Elf, or talk to Mae™. I don't play much of Lothilia these days, she's retired as official lute player of Green Dragon, besides she didn't know that many songs poor thing. You could also befriend Jimothy, get to know him better.
To keep on topic; Hurrah for Green Dragon Friday!

Jimothy you say? Eh, umm, you know what Lotti, I just realized I must have lost my favorite hunting knife on my last trip. I better head back and look for it.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Nevermind, I did overlook what server this event is on. Actually read it 3 times but it just didn't register to me that it was the server.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
They say it is Friday again, and that can only mean... Green Dragon Friday! Same place, same time, same thing, but perhaps a few new hobbit visitors? As always, hobbits, come fer a lively night at the inn, with music, dance, poems, chat and the latest in Shire news!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
:( I missed it again!
So busy lately I just forget that fridays are greendragon nights :(
Hopefully I can join next week again, maybe entering a bit later due to kin-activities.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
The good thing about Fridays? They're always Green Dragon Fridays! We've even been promised some new poems, so here's hoping that the hobbits turn up in numbers as usual!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
and it's highday again ... i mean uh friday again *will definatly brew alot of tea today to stay awake*
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Some even say it is Green Dragon Pie Day! No matter which, we're in Bywater as usual tonight, and hobbits all over are welcome for music and dance, poetry, riddles and news. Oh, and perhaps some pie!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Yay! and with luck I can get there this week! Ole barmy will be wondering why his takings were down last week :D
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Well this was my first 'Green Dragon Friday' and I enjoyed myself immensely. So thanks to all my fellow Hobbits for a great time and am looking forwards to the next one.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Hmm i sure do wonder what will happen tomorrow....*ponders* foreyule is surely not all that far away now *get's some tea*
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
i sure do wonder if there will be any yule inspired theme going on tonight * puts the tea kettle on the stove before heads down to the cellar to get a bottle of wine*
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Yule already? Foreyule doesn't even start until next week! *giggles*
Ahem, but there just may be news about the GDF yule celebrations. And other news. And, well, else I suppose it is business as usual! Come along and be merry, hobbits!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
*offers miss lina a slice of a yule inspired cake*

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
It was an other great evening.
Lucky we got the music started later on :D It was a great first time preformance
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
There were a few nervous Hobbit's in the room plus one worried Dwarf, but it all came good in the end. I not sure it gets any easier but I can but hope. :)
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Hehehe, a first time is always scary. But you get used to it ^^
There is a lovely patient crowd in the green dragon.
Lucky it wasn't my own first preformance, but it was in duo form. Lucky it ended well afterall
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Sad to say I can't introduce the other member of our band, nor play with them tomorrow.
But I'm not that addicted to lotro that I would leave my own (reallife)weddingparty tomorrow for some green dragon
Have a lot of fun, and hopefully I see some screenshots again :D
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Bah, yer call that an excuse, miss Melindy?
*giggles*
Naw, congratulations! And enjoy that party! We just may raise a mug fer yer in the Dragon too!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I won't be able to make tonight's festivities in the Green Dragon but hope you all have a good time.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
And what a lovely evening it was indeed. Master Simbo was a gracious host, giving Miss Lina the chance to relax and dance for one night. The music and atmosphere lovely. Thank you kindly for a wonderful evening , we were delighted to be able to play for you all :)
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
It is Friday. And every Friday is Green Dragon Friday! So... once more to the inn, dear hobbits, once more!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
So this is Friday
And what have you done
Another week over
It's time for some fun
It's Green Dragon Friday!
Bring biscuits and buns
Set off fer Bywater
Meet friends old and young
*coughs*
Anyway, it is Friday, which means, as usual, Green Dragon Friday! 8PM GMT in Bywater, welcome hobbits!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Another great Green Dragon Friday hosted by Master Simbo in the absence of Miss Lina. Music from at least three new players and a few tunes from some of the regulars made for some good dancing. :)
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
It is Friday again, and it'll be another hobbit inn night in Bywater! Full of news and music, dancing and drinking, and whatever else we can think of!
As always, keep the general event guidelines in the first post of the thread in mind if yer plan to participate. Welcome hobbits!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Green Dragon yule party
A yule-themed Green Dragon Friday! Hobbits all over are invited to celebrate yule Bywater style! And if yer have yule-themed music, stories, poetry or similar yer would like to perform, don't hesitate to sign up!
Date: December 23rd, 2011
Time: 8PM GMT/3PM servertime
Location: Green Dragon inn, Bywater
Yule is an important celebration for hobbits, which the amount of yule parties recently certainly shows. Even though many hobbits stay home with their family and loved ones during the yule days, quite a few want to meet with their friends as usual.
So it is no big surprise that Barmy over at the Green Dragon wants to get in on the yule festivities this year (not least since he closed the inn for renovations last year, and lost much in the way of coin because the regulars went to the Bird and Baby instead).
While the event will follow the usual Green Dragon format, it is especially grand if the entertainment offered has a yule theme to it, be it songs, stories, poems, riddles or similar. Welcome hobbits!
Oh, and plans are afoot fer the Green Dragon end of year party as well, December 30th!
OOC details:
This is Green Dragon Friday, but with a yule-ish theme to it. Usual guidelines apply, which means that this is a hobbit-preferred event, with a few traveling dwarves welcome.
If yer know yer have some entertainment to offer the crowds, send a message or sign up during the night. We'll try to add in as much as possible within the regular two-hour duration of the event.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
The Green Dragon yule party tonight, then, 8PM GMT in Bywater! Welcome hobbits, and bring some yule time cheer with yer!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
And what an excellent party it was, with much fine music, stories, poems and dancing!
Here is a poem in honour of the fine event.
Ode to the Green Dragon
Now every Friday, every week
Green Dragon Inn is what we seek
In Bywater, it proudly stands
And folk they come, across the land
And what is it that draws us in
To Barmy's little humble Inn?
Why do we walk in through that door
Across the creaking wooden floor?
The ale perhaps? It taste's quite nice
And sold at quite a reasonable price
The food is quite enticing too
Though sadly pies are much too few...
It's not the rug that's on the floor
Which barely is a rug no more
And surely it's not all the chairs
Though we'd complain if they weren't there
Is it the fire that burns so bright
At which we stare with child's delight?
And my, it is a warming fire!
It warms the bones, this wintery Shire
Maybe its the tales all told
That bring us in from out the cold
Or is it all the lovely tunes
Whose melodies can fill the room
But wait, I really have to say
It's not the music that is played
And even with the story chair
You can't tell tales with no-one there
You need a singer for a song
And then some folk to dance along
What makes this Inn the place to be
Is all the lovely company!
I'm sure you all agree it's true
What makes this place is you! And you!
We hobbit folk should feel so proud
Just remember, no bagpipes allowed!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Bonkadoc sips on his freshly squeezed turnip juice, sighs contendedly and raises the glass, happy holidays to all!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
*shivers at the thought of turnip juice*
Anyways, it is time ter announce this for hobbits all over:
GDF/Hobbit End of Year party at the Plough and Stars!
It is Green Dragon Friday! But in Brockenborings! And with an end of year theme!
Date: December Friday 30
Time: 8:00PM GMT/3:00PM servertime
Location: Plough and Stars inn, Brockenborings
Barmy currently keeps the Green Dragon closed to clean up after the GDF yule party, so this coming Friday we'll be at the Plough and Stars in Brockenborings instead! And there are no better hobbits to greet the new year with than yer fellow Brockenborians!
So come greet the new year and the coming brighter days with us! Bring a tale, a song, a poem, a riddle or something similar, if yer have fireworks that's grand too (fer use outside), and we will have us a party worth remembering!
OOC details:
Same as the regular GDF, this is a hobbit RP event. As usual, we request that longshanks respect the hobbit-oriented nature of the event, basically by not showing up. Do roll up a hobbit instead, though, it is marvellous fun! General guidelines are here
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
This looks like real fun. I enjoyed RP Events, especially most with hobbits before on the german RP server, but however not in English yet. Just came here with some international friends.
As I've read the first post, I see this is for hobbits only, and an exception for dwarves. But what if, lets say, a group of 4 - 6 dwarves comes a long. Would that ruin something or would you very welcome it. Saw on some pages before that 1 or 2 dwarves joined and were welcomed. Not that you would feel uncomfortable if suddenly the tavern is full of dwarves.
We are not sure if we turn up though, but we would be interested at all. Just wanted to ask.
greetings
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Dwarves have always been welcomed. It's not just for hobbits at all. When I began this event way back whenever it was, I fully hoped that Dwarves would show up, I mean they look great there smoking their pipes and showing off their beards. Travelling Dwarves, hobbits and hobbit residents was my vision. It's just the Elves and the race of men that literally don't fit in with it all, so it is encouraged they roll a hobbit/dwarf for the night, thus getting more RP as a result.
Not that i'm in charge anymore! But i'm sure the event is run exactly as it always was.
I'll get back to Star Wars now 0_^ Have fun! And all the best to the hobbits of Green Dragon.

As it's moving to the Plough and Stars this week as the Green Dragon is being refurbished.... Not that we ever really notice you mind? - It might be a little crowded, so if ye keep to the back and mind the little folk? Much welcomed
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
This does seem like a lot of fun! I need to find my way to the event and I should be there. I'm new-ish to the game.
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Of course yer should! A warm welcome to yer!
Just remember, we're in the Plough and Stars/Brockenborings this coming Friday, then back at the Green Dragon from the new year on!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Had the pleasure of attending tonight, thouroughly enjoyed it and felt most welcome (Even as a Dwarf).
I hope to attend these more often, and i should expect you'll be seeing more of me and perhaps those of my kin.
Thanks!
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
The Lonely Mountain Minstrels were present as well. I think the hobbits were quite surprised when we started playing music and even one of us danced. ;)
We also drank a lot and went loud, but well we're dwarves.
Was a lot of fun!
Greetings,
Miworin.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
And grand it was ter have ye with us Master Miworin - more so once yer'd stopped shouting and bashing inter folk dancing an scaring poor wee Yllisa. Dwarves ye may be, but there were no need fer that at the start.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Thank yer all who came! (minus the one griefer, but less said about that the better *smiles*) I hope yer enjoyed the party! It was quite grand and lively!
Some highlights from the night:
- Four band performances, plus many solo musicians
- Simbo's new year's poem
- A merry group of travelling dwarves, who played tunes that got the hobbits dancing
- Much toasting of friends and wishes fer a happy new year
- Fireworks
A warm thank yer to those who have posted pictures from the night! A few more pictures, plus one of the song lyrics, can be found here.
The coming Friday we'll be back at the Green Dragon in Bywater, as per usual. In the meantime, a happy new year everyone, strangers and friends, both present and absent!
The year nears its end, so I sit back and sigh
When thinking of old friends no longer nearby
The dear ones who left us to go out of bounds
You long for their voices but can't hear a sound
You hope that someday they'll return to our fold
With stories that tell us of silver and gold
But what most of all you can hope for tonight
Is joyful good memories of past times so bright
Well into the new year, the daylight returns
The land slowly wakes from its slumbering turn
The days all get warmer as we enter spring
And soon comes the day when the birds start to sing
They sing of old friends who'll return to our fold
With stories that tell us of silver and gold
And we can all hope that they come here tonight
With joyful good memories and laughter so bright
With joyful good memories and laughter so bright

I had a wonderful time. I wish I could attend more often, but I am from your former colony of Massachusettes and my timezone does not mesh. I was on vacation so was able to attend... I hope to be able to more in the new year.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Would a merry group of mihril guards be welcome at this fine event?
-
Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
As long as there well behaved, don't start shouting - it frightens some of the younger hobbits - and don't keep bashing into us. I'd say yer more than welcome!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Aye, a few dwarven travelers are always welcome, as long as they behave well, mind the local customs somewhat and don't play bagpipes!
Of course, it is always grand if they have a reason ter be in the Shire beyond just coming to party (for instance, they could be in the Shire to trade, they could be passing through on their travels east/west or similar). If so, some news from the road is always welcome. Don't be surprised if the locals seem more interested in dancing and ales than in scary tales from outside the bounds, though *smiles*

I can promise good behavior, i cant promise no bagpipes! (gah, no pipes, what is the world coming to?) But only if we are invited to play a song or two! So it is really up to you Hobbits!
We mithril guard have an IC reason to be wandering through or heading to many places due to our status as "guards of the dwarven trading roads and outposts" so it works out pretty well for us!
I will try to bring a few dwarves tonight to enjoy an ale or two with! See you there!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
If anyone is intrested in hearing a tale or just a short poem or two, Heley has those..
But she is also very happy to just sit and look and listen to all the little folk as she usually do when surrounded by them :)

Our new rp kin went to this for the firsttime tonight, was a bit of a mix up with the queue but we had a great night - expect to see us there weekly from now on :)
Btw will all the non-hobbits in our kin have to roll hobbits for this event?

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
A warm welcome to yer! And yes, hobbits are much preferred, although a few dwarven visitors are always welcome.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Once again to Bywater, hobbits, for the latest in hobbit news, many songs, much dancing and whatever else we can think of! 8PM GMT/3PM servertime tonight.
A few tips for first-time visitors:
- Read the general guidelines for the event, see the first post of the thread.
- It is grand if people bring entertainment (songs, stories, poems, riddles or news)! Just remember to contact the "master of ceremonies" for the night (often myself) by a /tell to get your slot, so not everyone jumps in and plays their songs at the same time.
- Also remember that time on the night is limited, so keep your entertainment offers relatively short (3 songs instead of 6, stories lasting 10-15 minutes instead of 30 or more). There is always the next Friday too!
- The "master of ceremonies" hobbit is often very very busy sorting out offers for entertainment, which means that answers may take a few minutes. Engaging her/him with continued requests or long discussions by /tell is not recommended *smiles*
- If you'd rather chat and discuss matters with a few friends in a peaceful inn environment, the Dragon is large enough to accomodate that. Just move a little away from the main entertainment hub, for instance to the inn counter or to the other fireplace, and things are considerably more quiet.
- As always, GDF is a hobbit event, although a few dwarven visitors are always welcome.
- Go with the flow and enjoy yourself!
Welcome hobbits!

*sighs* An I'll have to give it a miss this week as the computers sound card has died....:(

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
The good thing is that yer wouldn't have been able ter hear master Matzo's grumbling and muttering then *giggles* Aww, though. Hope it is fixed soon!
Else, it was a lively night, with songs and stories, dance performances and much, much in the way of news. Good times hobbits! Thank yer all who came, warm greetings to all new visitors, and special thanks to those who offered entertainment!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
Since returning to LOTRO on a regular basis, I've been playing my Hobbit (Paladric) moreso. I can't thank you all enough for the delightful roleplay, especially last week's Green Dragon Friday. It was the best I've attended so far, and had me in giggles. Thank you for making the game fun again!

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
A lovely night again, aye hobbits! Well done to everyone who attended, performed, drank and partied until the early hours!
Sometimes, though, the really special things come fer those who stay until the very end. This time, we went up to the Three-Farthing stone and listened to Simbo's epic poem of Old Jacob, complete with music support and fireworks in the end.

Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday
I've never been to one of these, but I'm very interested! It's a little difficult time-wise since I'm an NA player, but I'm going to try to attend today!
