That they really do, I seem to recall a promise about some event leading up to a release that then also didnt turn out to be/give what was promised.

Welcome back Rowan and it's nice to hear some news. I appreciate the VIP mail system. It will help considering other games have it too (even though it breaks immersion a bit).
I'm a bit puzzled by the chicken ball. Although I don't mind it and it's nice to see an ingame "game", I hope we don't get any flack from animal lovers.
If you reread Kate's letter she did state that housing was being delayed until 2014, and that they wanted to do it right instead of rushing it out for the sake of doing it. she also stated that there would be more information on the housing later in 2014, that to me does not mean the first quarter, I am not expecting anything with housing until the last quarter of 2014.
So fluff events, minor changes to the UI, another instance where i'm not actually playing my character. Colour me unimpressed. Well at least there is an update to North Downs, I like that area it just seems "jumbled". I just hope they do not remove the elite orc camps. I just solo'd those quests on one of my guardian alts and am glad to say they were nicely challenging. One mob I had the advantage, two and the fight could go either way, three...run away! I loved it.
Heres hoping that the change in leadership brings back some of the challenge to the game from normal mobs. I'm not asking for every single boar I have to kill to be like the fight on the Bridge of Khazad-Dum but something to keep me awake please while fighting landscape mobs. :)
I agree. Personally, I feel Turbine's method of communication are incredibly odd. There is too much that is vague or "beat around the bush" which inevitably leads to much speculation and assumption. Sometimes we are told that things are obvious in those vague statements and other times that we shouldn't assume things unless literally stated. But, I for one "assumed" the license had been extended based on the "we plan to continue supporting lotro" and was led to believe I was correct to assume. Other times we should never assume? I don't know.
Aaron,
is there any chance you can assign a dev to read over the minstrel forums (beta and live) and actually communicate with the minstrels? There were many excellent suggestions made in beta and carried forward to the live forums, which went no place; we're feeling very ignored and neglected.
Is Kate out? I feel like I've seen Rowan post in her stead before, back when he was Senior Producer. Might just be a title change to lure him back from DDO (or keeping him from running off to create an ASoIaF MMO or something :p), not necessarily a shuffling of senior staff. Maybe she's in Bermuda spending all her Turbine Points.
In the Store it's a 1 hr service for 75 TP.
I disagree that 1 time purchases erode the incentive to be VIP, or more to the point it doesn't erode the incentive as much as allowing people to sub for a month and keep the perks after dropping to Premium. Perks should be tied to being a current VIP, if you drop down to a lower level the VIP perks go away and if you want certain ones you can purchase them. The "Grandfather Clause was the single biggest factor in making sustained subscriptions unappealing, imo.
I think this is the first time a function developed solely as a Store bought function has been added as a VIP Perk.
Can, if nothing else, something be done about the massive size of certain windows? I mean, both the BB and trait tree panels are so huge. The take 100% of the vertical space on my screen, and like 70% of the vertical space. Just decrease all the padding and it should be a nice fix already.
Welcome back Rowan btw, as you have probably seen on the forums there is a lot of discussion about how good or bad the last expansion actually is and how it could be improved. I hope you can get some of the major problems fixed relatively soon and make sure stuff actually gets finished before release in the future.
I would bet a whole dollar that not a single (real) chicken was harmed in the making or playing of Hobnanigans. As for the animal folks raising a ruckus about chickens participating in the game, let's see one of them get a statement from a (LOTRO) chicken saying he doesn't want to be in it! :)
Actually, even less committal than that. IIRC, she only said that we would "continue the conversation" about housing in 2014, because the desire is to get it right. So if you really want to be a stickler, don't count on anything ever, other than conversation. That's all we were promised in her last comment on the topic.
I agree wholeheartedly. Sapience and Rowan, you are hereby called out, good sirs! You respond in the game forums as if you're getting ready for a court case and have to be really careful with what you say. Loosen up the tie, get a little attitude going, and give it all to us, flat out, totally new communication style, totally reserving the right to completely change your mind any time you want, but tell us explicitly and in detail what the heck you're thinking! No more lawyerese! Remember Dick the Butcher: first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers! :)
Welcome back Rowan (it was nice seeing you at DDO, but extra cool having you back home) *big smile*
Thank you so much for the tantalizing news about the mail changes. I double checked my calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st.
Cookies for all!
Is it just me or does people complaining about Big Battles gating the next part of the Epic Book just sound like people trying to get out of buying HD?
Sorry to say that but I really miss Codemasters. Anyway, please keep doing something in the name of Middle Earth.
I bought HD and was baffled by Big Battles the only time I tried them, so I've ignored them since. I decided that was a good time to start a new alt, this time completing everything while it's orange or red, with the Stone of the Tortoise to get away from facerolling and outleveling. Since I still really like the pre-Moria stuff, I'm still having fun with that. I was also never grabbed by mounted combat. Guess I'm old-school.
Welcome back, Rowan! Glad to see you have your plate heaped full!
Ha yeah me too. I kept trying and figured them out but still couldn't stand it. It was so completely different than how I play my class , I just couldn't take it anymore. It's amazing that my favorite part of the books is my most hated part of the game.
I understand about the low levels. The only time I play now is when I duo with my gf at lower levels. Lots of nostalgia.
Yeah Hi Sapience, I see you there hiding in the shadows.
You think maybe if you have time you can take a look at the effects Fire and Light Oils are having for Huntsman's version of Barbed Arrow?
I've submitted a bug ticket, but I'd like to expand on my discovery.
It seems rather than becoming the the Fire Oil or Light Oil variant, when a Huntsman uses them, Barbed Arrow becomes the Bowmaster version of the skill.
Rendering you unable to use it while on the move.
Again, let me stress, I am a Huntsman: Not a Bowmaster, Not a Trapper of Foes.
Barbed Arrow works just fine for me with no Oils. I can Induct and fire it while on the move.
I appreciate you have a lot on your plate, and many other more pressing matters to deal with.
And I wouldn't bother with a forum post unless it was something that dealt directly with and such an impact on the central mechanic of my chosen class trait line.
In the meantime, I've had to forgo the use of oils unless I know movement isn't going to be an issue. That or I know I'll be spending my time on my War-Steed.
I just hope this "little" bug does not escape your attention. Thank you ^^
I don't think so. Big Battles would be much better if they made you start at rank 1 instead of 0 and if the platinum rewards were always one of your own picking with the added chance at an extra lucky extra.
And if you read the above and think 'give the player in the driverseat their steering wheel back', you've got the philosophy behind it too.
Hi Rowan , I and a nearly 2 ½ years that the game strongly and sincerely hope that improved this game , I hope only that you keep the promises that you have said to do , first of all I hope you can improve the housing making it the most customizable possible as well as a new system of kinschip , and speaking of customization would not hurt to also be able to transform weapons like outfits too bad to see why millions of players with the same weapon , so I want more customization , as well as many in the #### and asked discussed , it would not hurt a re vamp and feel of the races, in certain animations (though some say it 's okay ) are a bit ' old it would not hurt to distinguish the emotes for each race and sex into account that m irendo and a lavorone but this would not be a bad thing ... and then you still have months and months to work so I can not find what the problem is , I know that the animations are so many and I saw that a little something has been changed ... but it would not hurt to have more models beautiful , perhaps a little ' more hairstyles but otherwise I'd prefer a graphical update maybe even making the game more light because for a lot of things lags me to death, talking about something else would not be bad to have an end game seriously, and a bit ' sad that you get to helm and is already over and the whole expansion ( including epic and reputations ) at the end to have one or more raid instances rather than more would not hurt , but I understand this and have a year of improvement and as you have already said does not add new instances and raids in the game, but as someone has already said you could climb other instances there are so many in the game and it would not hurt scalarne someone ( who knows ... maybe those of memory or even of isengard because we're going to back them with the southern area of ??Fangorn ) .
Finally I conclude by asking rather begging to really improve this game and to pay tribute to the world of Tolkien thanks to this game I'm learning to love , as well as in regard to the re vamp and feel of the races I care much even though I know that will never happen ... (at the bottom would not hurt a lot of games at the moment are doing this type of upgrade [ and I do not do names ] ) .
I hope you read these words of mine and I hope you can consider the Rowan as many other proposals requested by users ... hopefully .
Probably worth mentioning I not a developer (I don't work on classes or building things and you honestly don't want me to). I just play a hunter more than any other class. Also worth reminding everyone that the forums aren't for bug reports, you should submit a bug through the /bug tool in game.
Are there any plans to bring back raids and adjusting the overall landscape difficulty of the game?
A lot of us have stopped playing due to the lack of challenge and things to do in the end game department. I know that the official statement is that there are no raids planned for 2014 -- I understand this. My question is, are there plans to bring back raids after 2014 and beyond, or is the switch to solo / casual play permanent?
I glad to see some news posted. The lack of a presents here in the forum has got it in a flat spin people lacking information just have been spinning this place out of control. Now I hope they settle down on the hate post and give you time to make the changes and don't expect it to happen overnight and then start the next wave of complaining.
good luck on the changes, it just good to see someone in charge posting here again
I am really sure the guy don't need everyone grocery list of wants give him a chance to do his job
Wb Aaron,
urgent is to have some more content and new Raids in order the big kinships retunr into the game...
My kinfriends are not playing Lotro after 5 or 6 years... Even just after the last expansion...What's missing ? : new Raids !
Please, listen to the players, listen to the community,
Best luck !
Gimaldir
Thanks for all your concerns and your well-wishes.
I want to provide a fairly complete picture of our goals for this year and next year, so I'm holding off on any partial answers. Bear with me for now.
The team is focused on pushing U13 through to code freeze and preparing for LOTRO's 7th Anniversary. If you've noted my style on DDO, I prefer to be direct and also to be sure when I commit the team to a direction. I will have a lot more to say as we get closer to the Anniversary.
It's good to be back!
I think what was said was refuting the suggestion that housing would happen early in the year, as opposed to in the year at some point - I've always expected to be seeing the housing revamp in the second half of the year (not that this has been confirmed as a time frame, just that this is when I speculated it would be happening).
Welcome back Aaron!
It's like what we used to call "the Good Idea Cutoff Date" during planning sessions in the Army, I'll bet. No more additions, lock the developmental changes in so final QA/QC can begin, only bug fixes from then on. That's my guess, but of course you want the definitive answer from a Turbine Team member. :)
When will there be an elect option for the council? I personally would like to apply , although I do not know if I will be able to make the boston trips unless you do it around pax east .
Management options? Like different ways to sort and manage things, or will we get changes that will free up some inventory space? Like perhaps raised stack sizes for more things, or a new place to store some stuff so it frees up space?
I'm really hoping for something that will free up more space, because I'm having a hard time freeing up enough bag space to spend a few hours questing without constantly returning to town. If nothing like that is planned for the next update, could we please please please have the stack limit raised for task items to make things easier while waiting for the inventory revamp? Would be a great help! :D
Thank you for the letter and welcome back! :)
When the build is locked down and pushed to 'beta' or 'live', so that nothing 'new' is added and the focus is on bug-fixes for that build only. Think of it like a feature freeze.
Edit: And something I completely forgot to say in my excitement. Welcome back to Lotro. You were sorely missed!
The council is not elected. It would be very cool though if Turbine could put a bit more transparancy in both the selection process (such as the names of the persons responsible for reading applications, whether or not applications are summarily vetoed by a single person, or a majority, etc.), and the council activities (so we can credit them with more of their actual impact!)
For some reason I can't help but be reminded of Apple bringing back Steve Jobs.
Welcome back Rowan.
Speaking of your DDO style. Some of your other DDO producers interacted regularly on social media. Do you partake in any forms of social media? If so, which?
I ask for a thing the producer Aaron Campbell take 7 years in lotro am Rank 15 in my server with a hobbit guardian the first hobbit and the first mele in it being in my server and need that it is allowed that all the races should be all the classes need a lm a champion and a cpt hobbit, which finishes already the restriction of races for class I like many lotro but I need the equality of classes and race already
these changes really cool, but unfortunately most players abandoram the game by several factors, here are some:
More XP on kills and quests, a lot of quests makes them bored players.
server lag.
delays in care and in-game tickets.
lack of instances (big battles are legal but tedious).
new sets.
new build for the creeps, freeps that already has a specific build, but not creeps, moors this very abandoned by developers.
if the developers working on it, many of the old players will come back.
Try to google "A Game of Hobnanigan" It should show up.
http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/A_Game_of_Hobnanigan
... The Wiki never forgets :)
is the defiler update going to happen at all in update 13 as we all no the class is broken and needs fixing I.e with the heal hots against freep damage / blight damage tick needs upped to a decent amount no 50 damage to a freep / flies need to be brought back to how they were but not at op maybe
yes request to remove race/class restrictions for lm champion and cpt hobbit ty
First, Rowan, WELCOME BACK!!! A change in LotRO's leadership has me cautiously optimistic and hopeful for LotRO's future.
Secondly, you certainly have a lot on your plate at the moment, but I want to add my voice to those who are hopeful for more group content in the form of traditional instances, raids, and PvMP. I wholeheartedly believe that in order to be successful (ie make money), an MMO needs to have a thriving raid/PvP community. I'm not even a raider/PvPer, but we need the support for those styles of play back in LotRO to woo our veteran players back to the game.
LotRO is THE best MMO out there, IMO, for having an immersive world, deep and expansive lore, and excellent quests and leveling content. Get raids and PvMP back on track and you'll have a winner.
Cheers!
Aren't the changes to the North Downs basically unneeded? As it is, you can go from the Lonelands to the Evendim without missing a beat, really. It's after Evendim that is a huge problem in the game.
I realize you'll get to that eventually, but it seems like the Trollshaws/Mistry Mountain should have been the priority for the overhaul.
Um... not to sound ungrateful or anything, but what happened to Kate?
I'm not usually the one to post this sort of thing... well, really, any time... but somehow it was the only thing that applied!
http://youtu.be/p3G5IXn0K7A
That aside... Comments!
Epic Book: Sounds good; a shame it also requires the xpac. At least it doesn't require an extra purchase, though, and that it'll merely be added onto the HD epic.
North Downs: Super excited to see what it looks like! I've been saving my baby toon (my warden) for just this occasion! Any word on the Misties and Trollshaws? I had thought someone (Sapience?) had said they would also be in U13? Not overly impatient, but as my warden is my final toon to level up (my burg and Landy mini are both well on their way through their Evendim>Forochel route) and I'm hoping to take a ND>Trollshaws>Misties route with him, to experience the new/altered content.
Fangorn Forest: Excited to see this as well! I assume this is a free-for-VIP quest pack/area? But... oh my gosh! Tell me, please, what you mean by "a special friend you might earn"!
Mail/Inventory: WOOO! *points to above vid!!!* Multiple attachments, remote access for VIPs, and whole new inventory management! ^_^
Hobnangians: I never experienced the original and my curiosity has always been piqued in regards to this. Can't wait to see what it's like (even if it's not in U13)!
And naturally, Gondor: Eager to continue the story! I assume this (like Hobs) isn't coming with U13; can't wait to hear more. :)
I'd love to see the system live!
A little underwhelmed. With the intention (last I read) to make some sort of LOTRO store purchase for access to freepside Moors, we really need more VIP-only perks. As awesome as this one will be, it doesn't really make up for losing the exclusivity of freepside Moors. :/
Last but certainly not least: Welcome back Rowan!
And, when I first read the OP, I didn't even think that Kate has moved on (if so, fare thee well!). It is possible to have more than one Executive Producer, from what I understand. Has she actually moved on, or are they merely teaming up now? With so many rumors flying around regarding the unfortunate layoffs, it's hard to know what to believe and what not, especially when it's not told clearly. :/
Welcome Back!
The mention of Ents has made me happy. The mention of JWBarry's return to quest and landscape involvement, even more so. Now i'm excited about the new quests, and most of all, the balance issues being addressed properly, as we know you and he both actually play and understand our beloved game.
Perhaps there's even the possibility of some new instances, and new scaled content, if not new raids, late in the year?
Oh, and two posts in one day from you that are clear and devoid of spin/ambiguity. Happy to wait for direct answers. Direct is good! *happy dance*
Rowan!
There's a name that I remember from distant ages. Good to see you back here. Please be forthcoming and open with LotRO, it would make a refreshing change from the past few years.
Ever since this game went to the f2p model, it's been dumbed down more and more every update. Is it because if there is a challenge to the game, ez2p players might not play anymore? the game is just too easy. we are soloing 3 mans, 2 manning 6 man instances, skraids are being done with 2-6 players, even tier 3, just to be challenging. the only things challenging in the game anymore are bfe t2c, and flight t2c...Bring back multi boss raids. bring back gloom and radiance. not every level cap player should have the best gear. there should be a reward for knowing how to play your character, and working well with others. i have toons in two raiding kins, and both lost more than 2/3 of their active members with the HD expansion. big battles are monotonous, and pve is a cakewalk...to be honest, if i hadn't paid for 12 months back in Novermer, I'd likely be joining my kinnies. from the sound of it, we are getting fluff in the update, rather than quality content. bring turbine back to pre-wb days, when everything wasnt handed to you, or sold to you...
Its sad how you totally ignore questions about PvMP. But no1 is surprised i think! So im gonna ask again! Any news in PvMP in upcoming updates? Thank you for no answer.
ok, but what about the first age?
Grimsin'sRiders for the tradition if we can have the corrupt pvp with fc and dishonourable treatments between frep and crep, if I allow this one that a crep and a frep make traps united, can allow him the rest, and what I say is that all the races can be all the classes
Welcome back Rowan!
And may I take this opportunity to thank you for always being someone who would engage with the community in the past (whether on the forums, or community videos etc). I hope your return to LOTRO and the new position still allows you to engage with the community and put a more public face on the senior hierarchy of the LOTRO team.
While I know you are one who wouldn't want to give out false hope or promises, or set unrealistic expectations for the future of LOTRO, sometimes all the community wants/needs is a little clarification and assurance on certain issues that are important to them. I hope that - within the obvious limitations that go with the job, of course - you are able to be as open and honest about the future direction of the game as possible.
We - the community - don't necessary need to know WHAT is coming, or WHEN it is hoped to be released, sometimes just the reassurance that it's in the plans will go a long way to making people happy. So for example, although no new traditional instances are planned for 2014, going on the record to state that it is planned (if not necessarily promised) that a new cluster would be released in 2015 rather than leaving things in the dark would help to soften the blow and reassure those of us concerned about this issue. The same would hold true for any issue in the game.
Communication is the key to customer satisfaction. I hope we will have more of it with you at the helm, and look forward to reading any more information you are able to share about the plans for LOTRO in the future.
First of all, Hello Aaron, welcome to LOTRO.
Second, we have 3 Blue Names in this one thread and one being an Exec Producer with own Forum account... Unheard of!... I must be on the unofficial LOTRO forum where communication is by far more open and superior.
Perhaps you would like to pop over there and say hi. I would give you the address, but it is impossible. They are also extremely passionate about LOTRO and they also are to the point. There are some incredibly knowledgeable and funny people there too.
Nothing new in the way this post is written.
Absolutely! I would have thought the balance issues would be treated as an emergency with Turbine. Alas, we are (greeted?} with really loud silence. I have a Warden I would like to try. I keep hearing the Warden is a complicated class, but no way can I learn him when he will just one shot everything. I refuse to play him.
Leave my War Horse alone! :)
Best not to read the words at all! The words "high on the List" is a bit tricky for me to comprehend.
Yes, 10+ pages of ideas for Housing that have been duplicated over and over again from past years, and still, nothing! Has anyone from Turbine actually read the Official Housing Thread? We know that Turbine staff do not log onto the forums, that nasty long weekend of Porn and Spam is proof of that.
PoeticNightmare speaks the truth.
You need to read the our Community Managers comments and references, apparently you will obtain all the information you need from them. Housing is High on the List, (shrugs) no idea how to interpret that the Turbine way.
What?!, no silly word games. Just plain speak..... OK cool.
What?! the words "direct" "commit" and "direction" were used. OK cool.
.
Now, that would be amazing to see.
Aaron,
I may be just a player, but I helped pay your Salary the other Blue Names and everyone one else at Turbine!... and I helped fund your future, Turbine!
I am a Lifer (Dec 2007), I was a TP Purchaser, I have spent hundreds of $$$ on this Game and am still a Stakeholder, a small tiny one now, but I am here... well, sort of.. haven't played for weeks, can't bring myself to log in, and I tried a couple of times on a rainy weekend, just couldn't... Loved the game too much to see it as it is now.
I want to know that the Turbine blades have not rusted off, because lets face it Sir, Turbine has done nothing over the past several months to advertise or imply otherwise. Porn on the forums, balance issues (to put it mildly), super lag for people, very poorly thought out quests... ignoring and neglecting an important player base who cry out for raids etc ( I do not raid, but I feel and know their pain)... I could go on, lets just say ... The experience has been horrid.
I want to know that WB has full faith in Turbine.
I want to know the health of this Game and it does actually have a future. Not one cent will Turbine be getting from me until I see this promised plain speaking, and LOTRO is not winding down.
Thank you.
J_Rad
Welcome back, and thank you for the clear communication.
I guess the mail thing is ok. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to do the epic because of the gating, but I haven't enjoyed the epic since pre-Rohan, so I'll live with that.
I really really hope we aren't getting some kind of cosmetic pet thing unless it's confined to housing areas.
The only improvements that would get me truly engaged in the game again (and my friends and family as well) are (1) challenging new group content; (2) a meaningful housing revamp that includes a significant increase in quantity and flexibility of item placement; (3) fixes to bugs and broken content like We Cannot Get Out; and (4) rebalancing so that groups of mobs many levels higher aren't easy to kill by my weakest characters. Without any mention of those fixes, I can't say I'll be planning to play more after this update.
Yay! I'm thrilled about the mail and inventory updates! I'm a VIP so the idea of being able to open mail where ever I am makes me incredibly happy! As a player who doesn't want to fork out a fortune for the shared storage between my toons, mailing is a real pain. When I have multiple items to send between my toons, only being able to send one item at a time becomes very annoying and tedious. Look forward to the update and more info :)
One thing that IS bugging me though, is there a chance in future updates that building guild rep will be quicker/easier? I'm level 53 and I'm with the tailors guild, and I ONLY just hit expert of the guild (third one in), considering I've been crafting since level 10. Building guild rep takes far too long and it's starting to annoy me. I want to buy improved recipes, but by the time I can actually craft and equip them, I will have far out-levelled them, because it takes too long to level up in the guild. I hope this is something that can be taken into consideration in the future.
Wow I am really excited about the changes mentioned above
My plea is for you guys to not forget us over in Europe. Honestly, all the fun competitions and the history ( "Chicken ball" for example ) etc is all for the American servers it seems. We in Europe used to have our own deals and GM events on our servers but that seems a long time ago now. For example, we could request GM involvement to celebrate a kinship event )kin anniversary or the like) with spectacular results, a Troll in Bree or similar lol. Now I seem to read about events or competitions only to find they are available only to the Americans.
It would be good to see such events coming back into Europe. After all we have played for just as long. Been just as loyal.
It would also be great to see events fitting in more closely to Tolkien's lore, the game of golf invented in the Shire may justify the Chicken Ball theme. The game has always tied in quiet well, imo, with the books details and i hope that this is not forgotten. Please keep those Tolkien scholars advising the progress of the game. Some of us will indeed notice. lol
Many in my kin have played since pre launch days and I personally have never even taken a break from the game, I love it that much! So you see even though we keep playing and really enjoy the game and our amazing friendships that we have made thanks to the game, I wonder if we are often forgotten.
I do love and approve of the references to Oxford in Michael Delving. The Bird and Baby is indeed a local term for the Eagle and child and the characters with in tie in so brilliantly with the publishers and historic figures related to Tolkien and his works. This should not be lost. And this is just one of the details that makes this game stand out in the MMO world.
Ah so much in this game is just outstanding with the many many things you can do in game. Playing music, crafting, housing, pvp, monster play, etc. I am getting off topic sorry, but please keep up with all the areas that makes this game so different from others.
In summary, you guys have done a brilliant job and created a fantastic game that mostly follows with Tolkien Lore, book lore not film lore. You attract not just those who only want to complete instance and level up or do pvp but many many who enjoy the friendships and the fun side of lotro. So please dont forget about the wholeness of the game.
And finally please dont forget about us in Europe. We do matter. Dont we?
I took Hobnanigans to be an event that would be on all servers, not just specific ones. Also, what events have there been only on some? The last thing I saw was Sapience's taking the hobbits to Isengard and I think he scheduled that so he'd be on all servers. Maybe I missed some exciting things. :)
oops my apologies I think you are right about the Taking the hobbits to isengard. my mistake. Maybe things are looking up. Hurray. :)
I think i just got so used to reading about competitions etc and then seeing that you had to be in America to enter I eventually gave up and just stopped even reading about them all. Now i feel a bit encouraged. thanks.
I'd not be surprised if that GM lost their job, as Sapience has stated when asked previously if he could spawn enemies in Bree or other places like that and he said something along the lines of it being a sure-fire way of him losing his job. Stuff like that can happen in Bullroarer, but on any live server, that's a major abuse of powers.
Change in leadership hopefully is going to be a good thing , particularly as its an old head from before the HD debarcle.
Those of us who stopped playing and paying due to HD are still around and we do still check on the game and occasionally on the boards . IF some of the things that HD broke are repaired / rectified I am sure you would get the player base back , its not too late as we still love the game , its just the breaking of the mechanics really that made a lot of us bail . The jungle telegraph will sound out across the other boards and kin /alliance mailing list etc and we will return .
1. Ignore fluff for now ( housing cosmetics store etc.) as the core problems need to be fixed first
2. It looks like you will never repair the trait system to how it was but at least make the new thicko system have a chance of being useful and as good as it was before HD
3. Make at least some PVE a challenge - any of it , just some of it please
4. Stop treating people outside US as rubbish
5. Actually have benefits for founders as promised
6. Actually have benefits for VIP etc.
You still have a player base around - people have put years into this game and really dont want it to end - if you give some indication that you are going to fix the 2 main problems , the skills tree removing choice and builds and the PVE being 1 button monotony then the absent player base will keep watch and return .
To paraphrase a great film if you (re)build it they will come .

Can these be addressed at all? Please don't make your own dev a liar.Quote:
We can talk in more detail when things get closer as to what changes are coming, but one that I will mention on the creep side is some re-configuring of creep base stats and corruptions. Over the years, these haven't got a ton of love, which has caused many stats like finesse and b/p/e to lag behind their freep counter-parts. We hope to bring these back up to acceptable levels for update 13.
Once again, we can talk more in detail as we get closer, but a heads up is always nice.

I'm not sure where this is coming from. Hobnanigans will be an event that is for all servers. I don't recall seeing anything that suggests we develop different content for different regions. This would be no exception. Exactly like the Take the Hobbits to Isengard event is scheduled for all 29 servers and has already taken place on a few former EU servers.
Interesting changes. The mail thing will be very welcome. Looking forward to seeing how the inventory thing will work too. :)
Yay chicken football is coming back! I only got to play this a couple of times before it was removed. It seemed to come down after the more random knockback effects from mobs like trolls were introduced so you could be thrown anywhere rather than just backwards? I do remember playing chicken ball after this was introduced and the chicken never went where you actually aimed it to go (which it had done previously).
I might actually come back to the game for this. :D Been playing since a month or so after launch, but have barely played since October because of the horrible new trait system for skills. I do know that lots of people like this new system, but a higher percentage of those I know dislike it with a passion - is there any way to make it an option to use the old system? A VIP-only TP purchase even? It's generally felt among those I know that while it's a great system for new players, it penalises those who have been playing for years and have carefully crafted their class and play style to be the way they want - and now they can't play how they want.
I don't know how long Hobnanigans was allowed to run on live servers. Perhaps Codemasters never turned on the event for the same reason Turbine shut it down. Similiarly, I dont know if Codemasters ran the Moor's Chicken event (which earned the 'Fool' Title), after all it was on for so little time here.
What was exactly said in regards to this promise?
Never gonna happen... They would be running two different systems & that is just one big cluster you know what plus allot more work & resources they don't have. Like having a separate server with the old system. People have asked for something like that & been told no.
I think it was part of the first Summer Festival, and yes, I remember playing it on Snowbourn, so it was definitely run on the European servers.
I think my team lost though. :(
And, it seems my memory is correct. It was part of the Summer Festival, the very first one. I'm not entirely sure it was back the year after though.
I can answer this. Before I worked for Turbine I was a player and I was in fact a founder. The founder's program said that if you signed up during the open beta period and subbed you'd get a guaranteed $9.99 per month subscription price for as long as you kept the account open and paid the monthly fee. Miss one month, you lose founder status. Founders were also given the option to purchase the $299 lifetime offer for a discounted price of $199. You also got a head start and were allowed to level your character to level 15 and have it carry over to live when the release date hit. In addition you were allowed to invite 10 friends who you could also grant founders status to during the first few months after launch.
That was the full, sum total and complete offer or "promise" made as part of the founders program. Later that year a mount was given as a special gift to founders (not mentioned in the original offer, but as a thank you for being a founder after the fact). That was the Bree Horse.
Not sure how many times this has to be... repeated...
The player council was never intended to speak for the community in the way you imply. Yes, they may bring up discussions about issues that are "near and dear to the heart of the player base" but the PC was never intended to speak for the community in any way.
IMHO, the "player council" was a good addition in terms of bringing the players more on board and allowing some of us to have a more direct impact on the future of the game. Now, as to whether or not the "big cheeses" at Turbine truly take advantage of the PC as a valuable resource... that is something we don't know enough about to judge how effective the PC has been.
