Surviving the night

I've been trying to think about why this skirmish in particular gets under my skin so much. I like the other ones, stuff like the Defense of Thangulhad feels heroic and appropriate, waiting do die in an area that a chicken can carefully run through just doesn't seem right.

The mental image I came up with is something similar to this visual aid:

Seriously, someone should fraps that "deed-worthy" BD skirmish and put the yakkity sax music on top of it.

ANYWAY

At 30 minutes on a small fellowship barrow downs skirmish you will have 6 LTs

Just FYI if you're going for the no LT kills deed

Did the raid version this evening for the full hour. Completed the 30 min. deeds for raid except Mercy of the Freeps cuz we killed a Rage of Morgoth. In the end, the regular skirimish marks plus deed completion resulted in over 2500 skirmish marks.

What is Ruler of the Dead???

Completing deeds gives a lot of skirmish marks once you finish the miniature meta-deeds for that particular accomplishment on all levels:

The similar one for Simple Skill (no FM) only gives 75 skirmish marks.

The similar one for Strength in Diversity (no duplicate classes, or perhaps more accurate, full group with all classes [as much as said group can hold]) only gives 150 skirmish marks.

Strength of Endurance 150 skirmish marks too.

Unvanquished 120 skirmish marks.

Weathering the Storm (level 70) is 200 skirmish marks:

I guess the Mercy of the Freeps might yield the most skirmish marks because it definitely is the most challenging, especially at the raid level. (EDIT: Only GIVES 100 SKIRMISH MARKS WHEN NOT KILLING LTs FOR 30MIN. AT ALL SIZES)

So the first time you finish all those, the skirmish marks add up. Without finishing those deeds, a full hour at the raid level would yield about 1800 skirmish marks I believe.

Defeating the Dead: We know what that is per the first post in this thread. Defeated 50, 100, and 250 mobs in one skirmish session at the small fellowship, fellowship, and raid levels.

What is unclear is the Rulers of the Dead. It has to be meta from ALL the slayer deeds.

So in your deed log if you see 'Foe of...' that means you are on the FIRST TIER of that slayer deed of small fellowship, fellowship, or raid. If you see 'Assailant of...' you are on the second tier of slayer deeds. And ditto with 'adversary of...'

At all times, you should have 6 deeds below Survivor of the night that begin with either of the above quotations...

In order to finish Survivor of the Night, you must finish Rulers of the Dead which must mean defeating 5775 mobs and 625 LTs on all levels: small fellowship, fellowship, and raid.

But the deed thats "do not do any fellowship move" does NOT fail if you do a CJ. Only a NAMED CJ (which is a fellowship move) fails.

Tested and confirmed by myself, Mr. G, and fell.

Thanks for the info, Norinrad. I'm about halfway through Tier 3 on fellowship, but I haven't had a chance to run BD more than a couple of times this month. It's disappointing to see that there is a 4th Tier, but only because this is across all three sizes for the skirmish. I can't imagine ever completing that on the Raid difficulty.

Bumping this to find out if anyone has completed this yet? Norinrad, how goes the fight? You are amazing for doing as much as you have done on this.... How's Tier 4 going?

OH DEAR GOD. There is a tier FOUR for the slayer deeds? And *still* no news on rulers of the dead? Egads. I just showed a new group this and -- as always -- a riot. But, the news of tier four is even more daunting. I just don't think i can bring myself to do it.

Yeah, I think the Devs are playing a cruel joke on completionists! :-(

I'd guess, given the 4 Tiers of the Reputation system, that hopefully there are only 4 Tiers of these slayer deeds? Not that they are directly related, but just hoping.... Maybe there is a Hidden Deed that completes and you get "Rulers of the Dead" once done with Tier 4?

I'm on the second tier of slayers (Assailant of....) for all sizes.

I finished the 'Defeating the Dead - Raid' the other day randomly. The raid had a lot of hunters.

JUST NOW finished 'Defeating the Dead - Fellowship' with a warden and 4 hunters (I'm a LM).

So Just have Defeating the Dead - Small fellowship left and I have no clue how to accomplish that!

After that, just the 4 (hopefully) tiers of slayers left. Wish everyone in this thread was on the same server for some lvl 57 Barrow Downs Survival killing spree!

I have no other deeds in the game so any Landrovalians, PST! :)

"Objective: Find Defeat twenty Lieutenants in one Skirmish session"

The requirement is to kill 20 lieutenants in a single session, for small fellow, fellow, raid.
I know I've done that, but the deed remains invisible and untriggered.

I think these deeds are bugged and incompletable at this time.
That means you can't complete "surviving the night" deed either.

Also, there are no deeds beyond "bane of the dead" or "bane of the lieutenant" in the lorebook (tier 4).
On Elendemir a bunch of us are on bane for lieutenants, but further behind on the deed for killing mobs.

AHA! At least that is a breakthrough. The catch is, is it *possible* to defeat 20 LT's in one skirmish setting. The first LT doesn't start until 5 minutes, and even if you killed them all, i'm not convinced 20 will SPAWN in an hour.

Does the deed accellerator work? That would speed it up if it did...but boo. Also boo for it working at 57 for deeds (if that works). I don't mind *insane* deeds (and this one is -- well -- insane)...

Correct me if I'm wrong; but I believe anyone who is interested in these deeds is probably a completionist and does not believe nor agree with deed accelerators...

We killed 37 lieutenants in a 6 man level 65 survival skirmish last night.
Didn't open the deed for rulers of the dead.
Think it's just bugged.
Will try to kill more than 20 in both 3 man and 12 next, shouldn't be a problem

There's no tier beyond this. Need to kill 9500 more mobs to finish Bane of the Dead (raid).
Further behind in Small Fellow & Fellow deeds. Two others are about where I am.

I filed a bug detailing how Surviving the Night is not completable, because rulers of the dead is not completable.

I'm chasing the 'Defeating the Dead - Small Fellowship' in order to finish the meta Defeating the Dead, then I will start working on slayers....

I'm just on tier 2 on all sizes. Just about even on everything....

So is the Surviving the Night not inclusive of the 4 tiers of slayers?

Yay! Rulers of the Dead is fixed. They didn't express this in any notes but killing 20 LTs in one run is now up and running.


It's staged like Defeating the Dead with 5, 10, then 20 LTs.....
