If you remember after the Farmer's FAire Frelorn said Festivals will end on Mondays. I know it was said they would extened but I think at this point it is in the code and they would have to turn it on manually and with the move I don't think it is top concern.
-
Still.................. embarrassing eh Vyv.

I've always wondered if it would be a feasible move to leave permanent festival barter NPCs on landscape throughout the year. Being able to redeem one's tokens regardless of why one had them after a festival was officially over is something I believe many players would welcome.

We can /cry and /tantrum all we want, Turbine couldn't care less about players being unhappy. If they cared they would extend festivals, not turn them off ahead of the advertised dates. And they would advertise them correctly in the first place. It's really sad to see that players have to undertake investigations (like Thoroval did) just to find out the info that should be easily available to them - when exactly the festival ends.
Turbine doesn't seem to realise that on the last days of any festival lots of people finish on their activities in a hurry, knowing they will have to wait for the next one for almost a year and what a disappointment it is for them to find it suddenly turned off 2 days early... Many don't have enough time to do all they have planned and wanted - Turbine could please them by extending festivals a day or two but instead they turn festivals off even earlier than advertised! And I know quite a few people who log in only or mostly for festivals - way to "welcome" them too!

Personally, I counted on 2 more days after reading this. I turned in my tokens and bought all I wanted, just wasn't able to do some quests for a couple of toons. But I am an idiot, I won't even deny it. Remembering the past and still counting on what I read coming from blue names on these forums and what is advertised on the lotrostoresale page. I am an idiot and I'm laughing so hard at myself... Thanks for the laugh, Turbine! :D

This was intended a couple of years ago, the Winter Festival tokens became just "Tokens" and Golden Tokens. There were plans to unify the Festival Tokens and just have one type.
However, this like many other "ideas" was abandoned (without reason or explanation again).
Edit: If you have rep with Inn/Ale factions, they will exchange many type of tokens.

It appears that the wheels are already in motion to bring the servers back up with the festival re-enabled.

Speaking as a fellow festival-goer, I second this. Iota needs to know when her next festival fix is coming! :D

Well, I don't know about you, but I got invite to Yule Festival again today on the 3 toons I had to log in on. almost afraid to use the map and see where I end up!

The Yule Festival is on. Just did it on 2 characters with plenty of other players around.

Wonderful.
Perhaps this is also a sign that Turbine believes they have the servers to some minimally acceptable level of stability. (I'll need to verify that for myself of course.)
Hopefully we don't have to guess in a complete vacuum how long this Yule Fest encore will be active. I see no announcement of an end date in this thread, on the Dev Tracker, on Twitter, or on Facebook.
Edit: Turbine just updated their weekly sales page indicating an end date:
Quote:
Yule Festival Is Back!
Join in the Winter fun
Now through 2/10/16
Which hopefully means that it turns off Feb 11 @ 3am server timer... But we've been here before... Finish early.

What will these months of events be? Will we have hobnagigans on the 7th ish feb?
-
Are there any more events coming?
I realize this is probably on the LOWEST of LOWEST of priority lists when it comes to Frelorn's workload, but since we are rapidly approaching Spring....

PLEASE, Frelorn.
Thanks in advance.
Sergio :-)

Frelorn is out sick.... And Turbine doesn't seem to have the capacity in headcount to have a backup-community manager in cases like this.

It would be very nice if they moved Spring festival back into early Spring, there were too many festivals close to each other when they did it last year and even the hardened festival-go-ers (me included) may have suffered a little festival fatigue *shakes*
I mean it was pretty much Anniversary-->Spring-->Farmers Faire (Aug) in a row (and that is three big festivals) then Shipwrecked Mariner and Bilbo/Frodo birthday in Sep
March would be nice for Spring festival Mr Frelorn, sir!
And a new update would look very pretty on this forum, you know ;)
-
I believe they didn't really started to have some form of a festival for the Anniversary until 2011 or so - before that there were events and rewards, but nothing as structured as it is now. That's also when they moved the Spring Festival to May.
I do indeed agree March would be better for Spring festival, and then Late April/Early May for the Anniversary. April 24th is the Official anniversary day if I recall.
So:
Spring Festival: 2nd week - 4th week of March.
Anniversary: 4th week of April - 2nd week of May.
Summer Festival: 4th week of June - 2nd week of July.
Farmer's Faire: 4th week of August - 2nd week of September.
Harvest Festival: 2nd week of October - 1st week of November.
Yule Tide: 3d week of December - 2nd week of January.
But hey.... for now, I would indeed just settle for a new update, as February has come and gone.... and no announcements of any kind.

That's a good schedule Maartena. I'm also hoping for an update. :o

I respectfully disagree. Placing the event during this time would ruin the Greenfields music festival and Music of Middle-Earth show on Landroval. This is a two day player held event that takes place March 19th and 20th and will cover about 24 hours of music. The problem is, we host it at the platform just outside of Brockenboring where the bullroarer fence run takes place, and we already have 22 bands signed up for the event. :/
