This is just a wonderful idea. I know I generally show up 30 minutes to an hour early and enjoy the pre-party very much. Plus, when we meet in advance to escort folks to a dangerous location it gives us a chance to coordinate the eventual move to the actual A & T site.
I wonder where the next one will be? :D
Its at Girdley Island in the Brandywine, north of Buckland. There's a link to the exact location in the lorebook entry. Hope to see you there!

Thanks, I can't wait :)
Come on Monday night to a different Ales and Tales. Hosted by the Lonely Mountain Band's cooks, we are having a fish fry. Bring your pole and bait and fish for your dinner. We will have cooks ready to fry up what ever you might find, and who knows, you might get a special cook up as well. The events will start a little before the actual Ales and Tales, and continue through the music and the stories of the evening. Be prepared, we might hold a contest or two during the stories for prizes.
We will have several cooks standing by to cook up what you catch. Don't worry about ingredients, just bring your rod and luck.
And remember, dont eat or drink too much before going for a swim! If you dont have a fishing pole, we at LMB have many extras available. I have to decide what to serve that goes with fried fish, Ale or wine.
What a party! I went through pallets of ale and pipeweed! My supplier will hug me for moving all his stock!
Very well attended once more, as I suspect about 60 partyers showed. I have never seen so many dancing at one time as tonite! Twas a hootennany fer sure.
Melanie won the prize fishing pole for catching the most weeds at 21, and Hireldal won the other for the judges best catch which I didnt get to see.
Many comments about how fun tonite was. Thank you all for making it so fun! And thank you Leobrand for hosting!
Leobrand did have quite the opening performance!
I chuckled out loud,..heh.
Good stuff!
/cheers
What a great time Hireldal had! She even got a shiny new fishing pole! She's still dancing to some music, too. :D
So sad I couldn't attend! I was born on the back of a great flying beast to a land known as Kali-forn-ya and back again all within the span of a day. Sadly, this detour delayed my arrival until after Ales and Tales had come to a close.

And they just keep getting better. The fish fry was terrific!!
Thanks again to everyone for the kind response to my and Ghingeriel's ballad. I had a couple inquiries about the poem and so I have posted it in this thread if anyone is interested.

We missed ye Harp!
Some hobbit who wore shoes was hostin' an' tellin' folks what was what. He was pretty well spoken though, for a stranger.
And for those of you on the East Coast, I was pleased to find that there were people socializing on the island a good hour and a half before the "official" event started. I had some wonderful conversation with a slightly reclusive hobbit, even (thanks, Turgy! :D ).
I'm glad Nibbles and Nobs is doing a good job catering to the East coast. I don't know why I hadn't thought to start it months ago when our numbers started really growing.
See you all at the Blue Ladies Grotto next week! Lets see if we can get some Blue Lady inspired tales and poems!
--Harperella
The Blue Ladies Grotto is going to be very difficult for many people to get to, assuming they can even find it. Just geting to Tinnudir is challenging for low level adventurers, then there is finding the grotto site followed by finding the hidden entrance. You might wish to enlist the aide of some captains and provide them with travel rations. Then they can form fellowships with low level attendees and muster them right to the site.
Don't worry, Aldekim. We'll get them safely there. Look for organization in the LMB forums, but we will be providing hunter ports and captain calls. Once you've reached Tinnudir, its a swim that anyone can make, assuming they avoid the island of bad-tempered salamanders.
--Harperella
You do not need to open a quest chain to enter the grotto. However, there is a chance that it will instance us away from each other when we enter. There's really no way for me to test whether the grotto instance can handly 60+ characters until we actually get there. The Hall of Fire in Rivendell is a single instance that all use, but the Hedge Maze split into many instances to scale. So be prepared for the slight chance that we will have to come back out and have Ales and Tales in front of the waterfall.
--Harperella
There *may* be a level minimum for Hunter ports to Tinnudir and/or Captain Summons to The Grotto.
Not sure either can be done if the area is "red" (minimap location text) to them. We may find some single digit level folks unable to come...hopefully not.
There are several ways to come:
1) On your own
2) Hunter ports from Michel Delving and Bree (Might be some level requirements...)
3) Convoy from Oatbarton leaving at 10pm EST.
--Harperella
There isn't a level requirement anymore, I'm pretty sure. We had no trouble porting folks to Tinnudir via Hunter when we had an event there in March.
Actually, I was NOT able to port to Tinnundir for the Ales and Tales in the keep. (I was a level 7-9...don't remember which exactly.) I think I was the lowest level there, so was probably the only one who learned first hand that you can't port to Evendim at a low level. (I'm not sure what the level requirement is though.)
A hunter (who wasn't even attending A&T) tried porting me and it didn't work. But he was kind enough to escort me to the island and killed all the baddies in my way :)
So, that will be a problem for very low levels. You will want to provide escorts into Evendim. Probably the easiest way would be to ask those needing escort to meet at the Plough and Stars and have someone run them in through the Oatbarton path. (As they should have no problem traveling to the Shire.)
Probably the only people with such a low level will be those who are new to Landroval and only have an alt for events (like I did).
There is also the possibility of swimming up the Brandywine. Of course, some hobbits will do anything to avoid a swim. :D
