Lets see how many chickens we can to get to isengard on the 28th, Brandywine!
we did on Eldar quite a while back
https://www.lotro.com/en/forums/show...ns-to-Isengard
but we did it alone two chickens on an adventure
Chickens? Ensure you're in the middle of the group then... because otherwise you're relative easy prey. Especially when you're approaching Isengard, you'll pull mobs like there's no tomorrow then. I saw plenty of lvl 20's and 30's dying there on Laurelin (granted, more could have been saved if there hadn't been such horrendous lag) - and chickens are especially easy prey then (what was it, 350 HP?).
Chickens are all level 1 session play characters, wouldn't this make their aggro range larger than a level 10 character? (I acknowledge that its potential session play characters are treated differently for this.)
But those of us on our regular character. Is there perhaps a 'max' aggro range? (It really doesn't seem to be different at all no matter how far into the land of 'red' zones I am, even after going past multiple-red-zones with that level gap increasing significantly each time.)
I don't believe chickens aggro the same way that a lowbie does. I've done the chicken to Isengard thing and it's nothing like walking a lvl 10 into an area like Eregion. You don't get attacked by every beaver and woodchuck within earshot as a chicken.
Let's get a thread for just screen shots from the events. I would love to see what everyone has. I love the ones further up.
World (Server) - Name, Race, Class, Level - Place of Death

On Brandywine I want to thank Dagillo for providing me with Light Hides I could craft my own armour with! :)
For everyone from the Vilya server that's interested in attending please go to this site: http://tempvilyaalliance.weebly.com/ and sign up.
Im dissapointed. Where was GMs and answer question and fun things promised. The hobbit just logged in and ran away. No calling out or making a raid. Just a small fellowship that manage to invite him first in that laggy spot got teh chance. No cooperative fun or merry cheers from the hobbit. Then a bumpy ride with so much lag that the server stand still and instant death from moving. I hope Sapience, that you just werent on AFK follow but felt the server problems that we play in every day. Bring this to the developers and make them solve it please.
On next event try enjoy all interrested and not just a fragment of the players that wants to join.
The Q&A is on the livestream, I don't think much of it would have been through the in-game chat. Being in the game to follow the crowd should probably be reserved for people who want to help or people who just really want to go along. Because, yeah, a crowd that big can cause some issues. Just ask Weatherstock. :)
Actually I logged in, was invited to a raid, and we spent 2 hours or so talking, chatting, answering questions and I even managed to get Executive producer Aaron Campbell to drop in and answer questions at the end. Every last player that was there, participated. Hundreds of them. No one is ever excluded. All you have to do is run along with the rest of us.
The Q&A take place in the twitch channel, but there are so many pepole in the game having fun that sometimes they may not be looking at it or listening.
I don't see official times posted for Brandywine or Snowbourn yet, how'd they do?
Somebody will! frickinmuck has taken it upon herself to be the official transcriber for all the hobbit runs. As soon as she gets today's questions and answers typed up, she'll post them here: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?539143-Hobbits-to-Isengard-Q-A-with-Sapience-notes-on-what-was-said
Once she does so, Sapience will review and add any info he had to wait for answers on.
I'd like to point out that the hobbit +Sapience is just a package. He does not aid you in anyway as far as moving around (Unless he accidentally unfollows). You are responsible for navigating/dragging him around.
This makes everything fair.
http://www.twitch.tv/LOTROstream is where the, quoting Sapience, ''trash talk'' happened for the first 90 minutes, a facebook account was required to participate.
The summary of what-he-said is what you have to wait for, there was so much spam that some questions were not answered and/or spammed...
About 400 viewers, at peak, lag (Sapience's desktop fault, not the server's) and the temporary 2nd place missed for about 7sec.
ok, i missed out that the stream was needed. I was in the game and expected some broadcast or some /OOC tha tthe event started. My bad.
["All you have to do is run along with the rest of us."]
Did you serious not see any lagg? Even when your hobbit got stuck at the last bridge? Is it only us european players that have these lag issues? The whole game froze, the croud was moving like in stroboscope all over the place or was dead still, characters died mysterious by just running along at the road cuz of the lagg. In game there was so many was frustrated of the lagg issue that the event was unplayable. Dident the stream have any of this visual problem?
I can skip a event and big gatherings like this. But when this lag issues is all the time ins instances and in open landscape even with latest hardware and lowers graphic settings is frustrating. Maby just a cable from US to Europe is broken...
Denlir, everyone gets lag during these events. Even if folks from other servers had not been there, any time you get a group of people in one spot that ends up causing layers, you will get lag. Yes it's frustrating, but nothing will stop it. Reducing your own computer settings, removing your cloak as well as getting off a horse, will reduce the lag that you see, but it will not make it go away.
The lag that was previously mentioned was the lag on the Stream video itself. One thing you also have to take into consideration while watching the Twitch Stream, there's a delay between what's happening in game and what's happening on the stream video. Which can make it confusing at times if you're playing and watching/listening to Twitch.
To add to Whybird's explanation: lag that you see on your computer is a result of the amount of graphics and animations it has to load, that's why he mentioned cloaks and horses. Those animations add to the lag time. It's impossible to have 400 characters online in that exact same area and NOT have lag, and those players who insist on dressing their characters to the nines and riding their horses and hanging around Sapience's hobbit are doing their server a disservice because the lag adds to their run time (ahem....that was only for Meneldor's runners. Everyone else just ignore that tidbit of info!!!!).
That's why the Ettenmoors has lag, and Bree, and anywhere else in-game a lot of players are congregating. Festival areas like Bywater during the Farmers Faire is horrendously laggy for that reason. So even Sapience's high-powered rig at the office (he was streaming from work yesterday) will show lag on his screen.
And she already has yesterday's stuff up and did her usual great job.
This is VERY important. If you recall when the orcs took the Hobbits to Isengard (or tried) in the books or movies then you remember Merry and Pippin were just baggage. So while I won't try to escape, I also don't help. I put one person on follow and then sit back and watch like anyone else. I will, as Crell mentioned, refollow if I accidentally unfollow but beyond that, I'm just along for the ride. :)
Back around the end of December we had a bunch of people come and play with me on Nimrodel while I was leveling up a new character. About the time I hit level 8 someone suggested we try to get my character to Isengard. They failed. Two deaths later we gave up. The chat suddenly turned into "if you had done this on X server we wouldn't have let you die." So we made it a "put up or shut up" challenge. So that's how it started. most run average about 350-400 viewers, but we've had as many as 1100. So there are a lot of people involved.
I answer questions that I can, or that I have firm answer to or that I know I can get answers to. If I don't take a question there are two possibilities. 1- I didn't see it. 2- it's not something I can answer or have an answer for. There is a 3rd possibility and that's that we've answered it countless times before and it's really time to move on from that topic.
Also, you don't need a facebook account to view the stream on twitch. You don't even need a twitch account. You will need a twitch account if you want to talk in the chat and ask questions. One upside of having a Twitch account is that you can follow the LOTROStream channel and then any time we start a stream, you'll be notified. So you won't miss it. Even if we sneak one in on you.
In the stream there are a lot of different 'lag' reason. Obviously the huge number of people is going to be an issue. There is also the reality of the fact that I'm streaming and watching back my own stream on a PC connected to the corporate network here (when I'm in the office). So you have the entire office on the same LAN I am on (even though it's a crazy beefy pipe), and any lag resulting from that is going to show up in the stream. Also, there is a delay in the stream itself and any issues Twitch may have or you may have on your end viewing the stream are going to crop up as well.
Ofcourse yesterday we added to the mess by adding in Skype. I apologize that some of the conversations were clipped. We'll work on that for future runs.
Here is something that you can find out for the next live stream:
During the Bree revamp, scarycrow was working on a dwarven area in bree that was not ready when the bree revamp changes went live. The area is in game but you can't enter it. What happened to it? Did it get scrapped? Did get put at the bottom of the list? Or is it being worked on and it is scribled on a white board somewhere as being planned for update <insert update number here>?
I've had to make some schedule changes to accomodate our translators. the dates now listed in yellow have changed. This impacts, Belegaer, Siranon, and Anduin servers.
Also, BULLROARER has been added to the list by player request.
With regard to your Skype problems, I think it may have had to do with the fact that you were sitting so close together. It may have interfered with the echo cancellation in Skype. During the livestream, I could hear Rowan's voice coming in through your mic, as well as through Skype. Depending on the relative delay of these two sources of Rowan's voice, Skype may have falsely detected some echo and tried to cancel it out. So, you may have better luck if the two of you sit farther away next time. Or share a single mic.
I'd like to encourage 3 bullroarer runs.
1. Normal, like the regular servers
2. Evil #1: Spawn various special NPCs along the way. Varied in 'munged' level. (Ideally not munged higher than 95)
3. Evil #2- Let the Creeps out. Just the creeps. Players will need to defend a lowbie against real actual players while trying Sapience is trying to get to isen
For this event, consider allowing +Sapience free self-controlled mobility. (He's off to rescue someone, not a prisoner, for some reason, only he can open the place they're being held!)
I knew multiple runs would be a long stretch, but I had to try!
I've asked players on Glff to come to the thread and weigh in on what types of Evil they'd find most 'enjoyable'/'Entertaining'. An official poll with some of the ideas or its own thread may be helpful.
Well, since Sapience said no to 3, maybe we could convince someone else, cough, Rowan, cough. To do a run thru on Bullroarer, especially if the Creeps are free. Imagines my warg chomping on hobbit feet.
Woohhoo! Congratulations Arkenstone! 59m 6s 0 Deaths (beating out Crickhollow - 1h 2m 31s 0 Deaths). Nicely done.
Myrica needs to be commended, she did a fabulous job planning this!
That's essentially impossible though. It would take just one arrow from an auto-attack to end it. I know there is a fond dream of pvpers to grief something but its unlikely; and I suspect most of them would ignore sapience and finally live out their dreams of having a raid on Lalia.
I do believe my characters have the Curse of the Bonevales.... Not one of them has made it to Isengard. Even if my one on Bullroarer makes it, will it even count? Hmmm.
So far imo last nights stream was the most dull out of the bunch. Not many questions asked.
Thanks for coming to Arkenstone and running through Middle Earth with us, Sapience ;)
It wouldn't have been possible without the help of everyone on the server, way to come together!
We had a blast!

That's one of the side-effects of a quick run - not as many questions. The run was completed in less than half the time that a lot of the other runs have been, and there were half as many questions as we'd normally see as a result.
Unfortunately Sapience said there won't be a new install ready in time for the Bullroarer Hobbit run, but if you already have it installed, it will patch and you will be able to participate in the run.

On Arkenstone I want to thank Hartten for all the crafted goods he provided me with. :)
Vilya is going to be a great run, I know it :D
Is Twitch limited to only 5 past broadcasts ? I see only 5 videos in the archive.
There is at least the Brandywine video that is missing from lotrostream archive and the search function isn't very helpfull.
I also found in their faq that saved videos are only saved for a few days.
http://help.twitch.tv/customer/porta...ast-broadcasts
That's really unfortunate if some got deleted.
Vilya... HOLY SMOKES! O.O What in the world is your secret?
I missed the stream, but your post made me go hunting for the result. Wow! 47m 32s
https://twitter.com/rickheaton/statu...99431398555648
I'm going to have to watch the recording on that one. Did they stuff him into the saddlebags of a war-steed?
Totally blew the other times out of the water.
I'm really thinking population has to do with it. Where are Arkenstone and Vilya on the population scale? Does that hurt bigger servers in the grand scheme of things?
Anyway, it was quite lag-free. Their route is the one I would have chosen for at least until Dunland. They kept relatively scattered out as much as possible. Few cloaks, some horses.
I feel sorry for the first servers. With so many servers and everyone being able to see the previous runs, the first servers were more or less the guinea pigs of the event. :(
To person who kept following Sapience at the end so he couldn't take a proper pic, you are pathetic! I would like to say more but would get banned.
Vilya planned the run backwards and forwards. I for one have seen no other server runs except one live broadcast. The route was Bree to Isengard, it's on the map :) We prepared a good team and ran it, which thankfully every member who found time to turn up and contribute their ideas and thoughts did. It was more than the usual commitment to a raid over several days and a big thank you must be said to all who took part on the day AND those players leading up to the event but couldn't be present who contributed brilliantly in all sorts of ways prior to the event. Much was discussed, debated and planned. There are so many additional unexpected players on the day you can not expect to plan for that. Except plan for the worst which meant anticapting every angle. Once the clock started we were our own guinea pig. The March 12th run was in fact THE FIRST TIME WE HAD SUCCEEDED! But confident we all were. It wasn't only just the anticipated brute force on the day from players just turning up, but everyone of the core team who had worked hard playing the part we'd rehearsed and anticipating what to expect. Even preparing some flip-flops for Sapience in case he got sore feet! It was great fun and those of you who contributed should be congratulated! Fantastic you guys! Thanks too Sapience for coming up with the event. More please! Let the race begin!
Gratz Vilya! Smokin!
The practice runs I participated in on Laurelin took an average of 45 minutes. There were some orc camps involved in our route. One run was very off peak and was even quicker. However, the actual event took over twice as long. Cloaks, horses, the laggiest member of the Sapience selected fellowship, having under 200 actual participants on the server, in multiple layers, leading to long interzone load times, all these things have an impact on actual server times. Some are controllable. Others not so much.
It's still great fun, regardless of a Server's best laid plans working or not. I recommend joining a fellowship to escort any lower level player, even if you aren't in the same layer as Sapience. It's much harder than the chicken run due to aggro mechanics and quite challenging. And definitely a memorable moment if your fellowship succeeds.
Screenshots should go straight to the pool room, Vilya!
They're pretty equivalent, low population US servers about even with most other US servers not named "Brandywine" or "Landroval". They're my two former servers, so I know both quite well. I liked Vilya much better, so yay for the former server I liked outdoing the former server I didn't especially like, I guess. /shrug Though I don't pay much attention to events I can't participate in anyway.
Just congrats to Vilya. Everyone did an amazing job and I wish I could've helped more, all I did was post suggestions all over for the leaders to consider XD
But amazingly done, so proud of my server now! :D
I hope people reported the 3 people who kept trying to lag the party since like the lone-lands though!
I wish I could post the names, sadly forum rules say we can't :'( I saw the stream and those 3 people upset me so much.
But overall great run!
Was glad to see my kin-mates run around the screen abit on their respective jobs :D
Even posting suggestions can be a good contribution if you don't have a role to play at the event itself. You assist in the plan and don't add to any lag. :)
Speaking of, it is amazing that players would harass a CM event on a recorded livestream with high level characters on their own server. I almost feel sorry for them. (Loved the "need a pen; make sure I spell the names right" comment.)
Very impressive showing indeed.
All in all, a tremendously fun series of events, which is the real win here for every server. :)
Though Vilya seems to have the bragging rights locked down at this point. That will be a high bar to clear. :)
How does one Lag the Lotro? 3rd party software? like griefing with mulitboxing, macroing, and combat logging?
I hope those people don't get banned, after all it seems rather silly getting upset and banning those people, when It happens to turbine, and when the tons of people who get greifed on a daily basis post of being griefed, have their threads closed and told to stop.
All Thanks a bunch it was very fun. Thank you all for coming and playing with us for a couple of hours. -- Danendyn
Part of what I personally enjoy about these is watching plans either come together or fall completely apart. It's interesting to see how people react to both situations. Sometimes people are doing so well and then they tense up and start doing poorly or they start off poorly and really get it all together and lay down an impressive time.
I'm not sure it was ever stated that Bullroarer would be up today. Just that they were aiming/hoping for Bullroarer going up this week and that, in general, they would try for starting on Thursdays.
Until an official start time is given, it is all in a "no promises" zone. (And even when one is given, things can come up, though hopefully they would tell us as soon as it did.)
The saddest thing about the people trying to sabotage it were native Vilyans. You would imagine people from other servers trying to sabotage )which was what i had thought and maybe some were imvolved, cuz they seemed to do their best to create as much lag as possible and ruin the pic at the end) but one of the people i recognized as a vet. I don't play there much because there are alot of griefers there sadly. I was very surprised Vilya pulled it off and glad to help in the event. I think the key was the planning and organization. That was impressive. i was very proud of those who set it up and took time to make it all work.
its really not cool that we cant download BR anymore, hope itll be fixed soon, otherwise lots ppl will miss that chance to help fix game :/.me myself formatted pc lately and now kinda sad without it ...
btw if one feels can share files id appretiate that ,hope its not against rules
Kudus must be given to ALLANAR of Vilya, who planned the route, figured out the groups, and made for easy pathing of our core raid. We had many kinships involved, and many excellent players clearing the way. We do believe others can cut our time down, but it was amazingly fun for all of us; even us lemmings who followed Hadacar / Sapience into the River after taking him to Isengard! :) Thanks Sapience for the awesomely fun time and for joining the right raid! IF he would have joined any other group, we would not have been able to win! Thanks all and thank you VILYA for a great job!

The Community Manager said at one point he was leaving the names up so others would know who the knuckleheads were. Some of the antics with jumping flying horses were obnoxious and it seemed like Sapience wasn't as into the run as he was Arkenstone's. The numbers don't lie though, so congratulations Vilya.
Small fellowship? He was in our raid of 24 people, all who partook in training and assisting to ensure his safety and speed. Allanar practiced this area for over a month! Sorry you didn't get in the raid, but again, this was something prepared to get him in the raid as soon as possible :)

If you want questions and answers log in on Twitch. A lot of the viewers have been tuning in since the start of the live streams We have already asked our questions and received our answers. There still might be a couple that get asked but for the most part we can now just sit back and enjoy watching the run.
My reaction to the race was great! It was fantastic fun and did feel sorry for Sapience at the end trying to organise a photo followed by a troll, it was uncomfortable to watch. That was so sad for everyone. Perhaps if Vilya does manage to hold on to the lead (crosses fingers) a special pic can be organised again for the winning server!
I just recently managed to see the start of the race which was being discussed on Vilya and wrote this post on another thread. It seems to have vanished so it's probably best here anyway. As the race hots up and the servers gather momentum my hobbit undercover reporter sense began to wonder why Vilya with such an extraordinary time lost so many seconds at the very start. So I went back over the start of each race I could find on twitch tv to see for myself the fun. It was hilarious I must admit. (I'm not so potty as to sit through transcribing nearly eight hours of coverage!)
So here I am imagining myself as hobbit reporter at the event trying to piece together the events and times of what actually happened. It got me thinking perhaps the developers might create a start gate or something to trigger the start of a race and so avoid misunderstandings particularly with lag issues bewteen PCs thouands of miles apart. Maybe a flag is waved competitiors can see, or perhaps a dove or firework or chicken! might signal the start of the race. That would also signal the start of the clock so no misunderstandings might occur in future races. Maybe a giant wooden cuckoo clock in Prancing Pony square could be set off by sapience. When the clock strikes off they go! The anticipation would be immense! Perhaps the firework would be a good at least until maybe something can be developed for future 'Meta Events'. Okay so my imagination is bizarre.. :( More things could be tried... Egg and Spoon racing to Rivendell... (don't lose those coloured eggs to the Balrogs!)...
Well here's the orignal post with transcripts of the starts of each race. It was great to see Vilya make a recovery to get out of Bree but I have to admit it was funny to see them spurt into a wall in panic, what a memorable run just for that alone! Hope it sparks a lively server debate so things might be more consitent in the future events but please don't take this too seriously, er unlike me!
.......... Lord Elrond summoned to Steward's Enquiry:
Vilya race day it has been alleged was fumbled. Angry mobs (forlorn Hobbits) have begun gathering outside the Prancing Pony alleging Vilya race day was fumbled and demanding the lost 34 seconds be found and removed from the overall winning time. Seconds were lost due to the timer being started before the players knew they had to go. Panic ensued and the lead shot off suddenly into a stable wall, no injuries were sustained our hobbit reporter says. Hobbits on the day demanded fair play for all teams. A council summit meeting is proposed to adjust the overall race time by 34 seconds.
Allegedly C.O.E, the Council of Elrond has called an urgent summit expected to meet at Rivendell on the matter in the forthcoming weeks ahead. Our undercover hobbit reporter has obtained a leaked transcript of the days events from various races and it seems there is evidence that the timer was started before the signal to Go! was given.
Was Vilya done an injustice? We may never know. Worried hobbits everywhere are beginning to whisper Sauron may have exploited the situation. Elrond has summoned a transcript of Sapience's race commentary to decide the fate of the missing 34 seconds and save Middle Earth. Names have been altered due to Elven legal restrictions. The case continues... at least until Second Breakfast.
Vilya
Prancing Pony steps:
[PlayerA tells you please follow PlayerB ]
Vilya is kinda up against it tonight to see if they can do as well and we'll see if they can pull it off.
Um, I'm already in my group and I already know who I am supposed to be following. So we are going to jump right into it and see how well Vilya does.
[PlayerB tells you I'm your follow.]
So let me grab my person [Clicks PlayerB] and then … They are apparently listening so ... [Clicks Timer]
Oops. Apparently they aren't listening.
[OOC]/Go... They started moving, but then they stopped. And they seemed to stay stopped. Hmmn. They got to go the timer is ticking, 30 seconds. That's going to hurt. And right into a wall. Oh this is bad.
Arkenstone
Prancing Pony steps:
All right so we are going to get going, as you can see there is a timer on the screen right down here. Once we start going I'll start that and it doesn't stop until we go through the Gates of Isengard.
...We're going to go. [OOC]/GO! Go. And they are absolutely, [Clicks Timer] on the ball.
Crickhollow
Prancing Pony steps:
[Clicks Follow] Alright. I've got the person I'm supposed to be following and [OOC]/ZGO! I'll start the timer as soon as they go. [Time starts] And we're off.
Withywindle
Fountain cobble stones:
So I will run over to where they are. Let me get on follow. There we go. And, [OOC]/ALL SET? let's get rollin'. [OOC]/GO! I shall start the timer just as soon as they start moving me out. [Clicks Timer]And we are off.
Evernight
Fountain cobble stones:
PlayerB is the person I need to follow, so I will follow them and I will run over to where they are. All right let me get my timer set up. We're all set. And make sure everybody knows who I am following. [Say]/I am following PlayerB. GO! And we' re off.
Although I do hope no one gets petty enough to start arguing the results over some confusion at the start line, your hobbit reporter is both intrepid and utterly hilarious. :)
I'll subscribe to that paper!!!

/bow and well done!
Times updated with Anduin now the new #1 time at 47m 15s.
Meneldor you're up! Friday March 21 at 6:30PM Eastern time!
Is it 47m 15s or 57m 15s for Andiun? It's a fair bit of difference there ;)
Just watched the video recording of Anduin's twitch tv stream. Woot! Just amazing. Left me with a big grin.
These runs are really a lot of fun and a great way to pass some time. Wow well done Anduin! Just fantastic!

What fun!!! Thanks so much for organizing this event, Sapience. I can't wait for whatever you bring to Meneldor next.
*Leyrica staggers into her little house and collapses with exhaustion, falling into a dead sleep fully armed and still wearing her armour.*
I missed the Meneldor run? Stoopid real life work obligaitons.
That reminds me, I need to take a vacation day on May 7. :D
Any chance we can see the Bullroarer run added to the Official Standings list? I was thinking of something along the lines of:
30. Bullroarer - DNF due to Balrogs! 10 Deaths
*DNF = Did not finish
Thanks, and thanks for a fun run!
World (Server) - Name, Race, Class, Level - Place of Death

Vilya - Wilnidin, Hobbit, Minstrel, 10 - High Hollin, Eregion
Bullroarer (Public Test Server) - Vulcoric, Hobbit, Guardian, 95 - CHAOS & MAYHEM! (Balrogs in Bree!)
Anduin [DE] - Chago, Hobbit, Hunter, 10 - Low Hollin, Eregion
Meneldor - (The Return of) Vulcoric, Hobbit, Guardian, 11 - Low Hollin, Eregion
Bannog Cadlus, a Dunlending camp in Low Hollin, Eregion [50.4S, 13.8W] have become a location of arch-enemies. Many of my little Hobbits in the Hobbit Runs have had to do an involuntary Boromir-impression there, becoming arrow-filled pin-cushions.
A list of deaths...
Reminds me of GoT and a certain video showing all deaths in the first 3 seasons... macabre...
You should play on Crickhollow as it's the only server you survived yet. It looks like lots of luck for you. (also it's a entirely different situation with a level 60 character in opposition to all the other servers) ;)
And Bannog Cadlus seems to be added to frickinmucks list of ideas to get through the run as a possibilty of danger for Sapience. Players should occupy the village and populate it only with free people before Sapience pass by and before those can try an assassination. ^^
I see on the List of Servers that Silverlode is up next, is it, or has the list changed??
