Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
I've enabled the app and straight away noticed a spelling mistake during the app setup process (I can't recall exactly what it was now because I'm at work).
Having now had one play-session since installing it I think I'll be disabling it until it gets a rework because one play-session resulted in three facebook posts.
1. * started playing Lotro
2. * stopped playing Lotro
3. * completed 5 quests and 1 deed
I looked to see if there is a way to enable/disable the login/logout notifications but there's nothing there at the moment, so I can see my friends disabling notifications from this app very quickly if this is the way it's going to be. Even worse is that the 'started playing'/'stopped playing' notifications are not attributed to the Lotro Facebook app and would appear to anyone that I posted them myself.
Also, I don't mind if the app says exactly what deeds I've gained because the information is not very useful in it's existing state (my nice way of saying it's useless).
It would also be nice if there were notifications of receiving a new title, if it's not already there.

I told it not to originally, but the feed is doing it anyway. I know how to switch what characters have posted info, but not how to turn the other part off. Any ideas?
Thanks!
What do you mean by "you told it not to"? There currently is no option to disable status updates in particular, just change which events are displayed. The next version will feature a toggle to turn status updates on and off for your account separately from character feeds, but there is no current implementation of that - sorry.
[Edit] In fact, I'm working on an update to the app at this very moment that will add an option to select whether or not to show status updates, completely separate from your alerts (which will remain exactly as they are now). Can't give an ETA (you now how it is), but its my priority at the moment.

This was the original intent and was the way the app used to work. After it was sent to QA however, Facebook deprecated Template Bundles which allowed us to do formatting including newlines, so we had to condense everything into one line. This is why now it serves as a counter for your accomplishments and not the names of each part.

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Feedback.
If you ditch the logged on/logged off messages I'll turn it back on. Also, these messages are actually attributed to the Lotro app, but the ring icon is missing so it can be misleading. I'd prefer you got rid of these message entirely though.
Other things I noticed are that the text detailing the number of deeds and quests complete doesn't account for singular occurences, only plural.
Concerning the inability to detail exactly what was earned, I hate to bring them up but perhaps you should ask Blizzard as their Facebook app for WoW has no such limitation.

We have the ability to show that information, but displaying each deed and quest as a separate line would be very spammy on a news feed. The WoW armory app uses a similar model with one achievement per feed post, but we wanted to combine all the achievements completed by a character into one.
Ideally I'd like to mix the current feed updates with an app page in Facebook that includes verbose data such as each quest and deed you completed with names, as well as links out to Lorebook references and tooltips. I have to take it one step at a time though ... my eyes are sometimes bigger than my stomach, as they say =p

Awesome :) You've come far already, looking forward to seeing how far you can take it.

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
I followed the provided links, did what it asked me to do...yet it updates nothing about any of the things i do in Lotro....it doesn't work anyway. And if it did, can somebody tell me just what it supposed to do?
Well sofar I don't really care for it.

Did you check all the boxes for all your characters?

How does one disable the app?

While logged into Facebook, click on the "Account" drop-down in the upper right and select "Application Settings" - then click the x next to LOTRO Player Feed.

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
What I'd like to see in an app like this is a framework for displaying my character achievements/stats/gear in a separate tab. There's enough game spam on FB already, no need to add more. In the current form I don't really see myself having much use for this.

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
You asked for it and now its here! You now have the option of disabling the login/logout status updates from the "Select Your Alerts" page on the Facebook App! The setting is defaulted to enabled but you can change it at any time. Enjoy!
There have also been some reliability improvements, such that some users were having an invalid Facebook session key recorder after adding permissions, or who add the application before logging into the game after signing up and don't have characters associated with their account. Many of these cases should resolve themselves the next time affected users visit their Select Your Alerts page.
Oh oh oh, and the Invite Friends tab works again too.

No...mwuahahaha...
The intermittent updates people have been getting and the successful QA validation after launch makes me think there maybe to 2 copies of the application running right now - the old and the new, and its just a matter of which one happens to grab somebody's events. Unfortunately I won't be able to talk to anybody to see if thats the case until the morning :(

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
It appears that the old application wasn't stopped before the new one was deployed, and so they were running side by side. This means that at any given time you had a 50% chance of the right one processing your session.... we are now correctly only running the new one! Sorry about that :(

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Gharet again.
Thanks for the quick fix! :)

Re: LOTRO Player Feed Fedback.
I'll be attending PAX with my wife as regular folk this weekend but I'll be periodically swinging by the booth a few times a day each day. So if any of you are around when I show up and want to talk about ideas on what you'd like to see from the app, feel free to ask for me and if I'm there we'll have a chat!
