Make more kinship alliances?

Perhaps Edhel Annon is game for this. But all this depends on we need to interpret the words "alliance" and "like-minded". What is meant with an alliance? Is it full fledged or simply sharing a channel for everyday chit-chat, friendly banter and small-talk? One doesn't necessarily rule out the other, off course.

And what is like-minded? Following the link provided in the Kinships of Withywindle section doesn't really reveal much information. The post that supplies the link doesn't either to be honoust. Some more information here would be handy.

I don't speak for everyone, but personally I'm not into raiding much too. LFF is not everything.

Am more into LOTRO for the laid-back social atmosphere and less into power gaming/gear stats obsession.

Is anyone game for a cross-kin social channel? For banter? And maybe organizing social events for the server? Like for that upcoming one: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...yer-run-events!

It'll be nice to meet and chat with other people outside of one's kin, and have a global cross-regional one at that, so a global social chat channel is something I'd like to join. There's stuff like that on other servers like Landroval with The Lonely Mountain Band kin's /alesandtales channel, but it's semi RP-enforced. I'd rather something with topics outside of LOTR/LOTRO too :P

Btw, /globallff has nicened up a bit more the past couple of weeks from what I'm seeing.

Let me first say I am not really fond of alliances. I just do not see the purpose of an 'official' alliance. And my experience with alliances I was in have confirmed my feelings.
basically if you are seeking a long-term alliance with a like-minded kinship you are much better off merging right away. that gives the same result as said alliance, but with less communication problems. The only thing that makes this an unwanted solution is the possibly hurt pride of kinleaders/members.

less rigid alliances probably work better, especially for casual play kins. Keep most action within the own kin and when you are that 2 or 3 guys/girls short for your raid/instance, ask a friendly kin for help.

a new channel for all likeminded kinships to join is not needed. We already have a channel for this and that channel is not secluding anyone from joining it (like kinless players). this channel is globallff.
And when you do create that new channel and get it to be successful you cannot prevent trolls from finding it eventually. what will you do then? create a new channel again and wait for the next troll to find it?
My advice to anyone having problems with global attitude: the ignore button is your friend.

One point I do agree with and which I will help working on is making globallff known to new players. Despite the deceiving name it is a global chat to talk about, or ask, whatever you want. Regardless of your level.

Every alliance has a reason for forming, and each one is unique. So the answer about its usefulness varies as much as the reasons for the alliances themselves. Some, as the first poster, see no reason for one. But others, like me, see many reasons for them, and see their usefulness in the game.

Many alliances fail because of miscommunication and kins that disappear due to loss of interest by their leaders in the game, or tempers when things don't go exactly as expected. Some kinships form alliances to have good backing for raids and skirmishes when the kin does not have many members online. Yes, GLFF is good for this as well, but with an alliance, you know who you are asking for help from and have a working relationship with the other kinships, something not guaranteed using glff and hoping that the random person knows what they are doing and won't bail half way through the event (a common problem with random fellowships).

There are also other reasons for an alliance that have greater effect on the server itself. I am part of such an alliance, built on a concept of making the game a better and more fun place to play for all by living up to certain standards of conduct, helpfulness to other players, friendliness, and lack of tolerance for in-kin drama and disrespect. This is an example of like-minded kins working together not only to help each other when needed through a common channel of communication, but to join in helping others in the game whenever possible, and making a better name for the server in general.

I am happy to have helped allies grow their kins, and vice versa. We have even had officers in the various kins of the alliance join the other kins with alts to help when they were down in active numbers and bring them some new life, and some officers and leaders of other kins have alts in my kin. It strengthens ties and relationships in the game and makes it a more fun playing experience for the new people coming in to each of our kins, as well as the many we help that aren't even in the alliance kinships, to know that whatever question you have, whatever help you need, whenever you need a fell or a crafting ingredient, or when you want to help someone else, there is always someone there who knows you, welcomes you, and works with you to build a better server and game experience.

There are, as I said, MANY reasons to make an alliance. Ours may not be the most popular reason, but it has worked for us, and the only time we ever lost any member kin was because it dissolved. In other words, we never lost a playing kinship in our alliance, nor ever had any fights or arguments between any of our member kinships.

What I would like to see in the game is an allowance for an actual alliance recognition similar to kinships. If kinships decide to ally, there should be a way for the game to let them use a common communication array in the social panel, similar to kinships, only including all online members of the alliance. It would allow for easier communication than chatting in the ally global channel (and trying to see who responds because you are not sure who is online and who isn't). This would also allow for better working across the board together.

Anyway, that is my two cents worth.
