Ah. Another grand evening. I enjoyed it very much.
I had a blast!!! Thanks for letting a new visitor participate!!

Happy new year hobbits! Grand pictures from the party!
And new hobbits are of course warmly welcome! *cheers*. If yer never visited before, it is recommended to have a look at the event guidelines in the first post of this thread. Else, just bring yer hobbit along and join the fun!
After the mad yule rush of parties and events and what have yer not, it's good to get back to normal. So tonight, we're in the Green Dragon as usual, fer our regular weekly hobbit event. Expect songs and dance, news, poetry, riddles and/or anything else our local hobbits are able ter think of.
Bring some entertainment of yer own (it is always grand if people get involved!), or just come to listen and dance and party. If yer want to perform somet, just have a chat with (or send a /tell to) the hobbit who tries to keep it at least halfway organized!
8PM GMT/UK (3PM servertime) in the Green Dragon! Welcome hobbits!
Another Friday, another visit to the Green Dragon, hobbits!
The hobbity inn night is now well on the way to its fifth anniversary (later this spring), which we are sure to celebrate when the time comes. Tonight, though, we'll have a night of the usual! Which means songs, dancing, riddles, poetry, news, gossips and partying.
As always, it is grand if yer bring some entertainment for the crowds (just chat with the hobbit trying to keep control of things to get a slot). However, if yer would rather just relax and enjoy the night, that's possible too!
8PM UK/GMT (3PM servertime) at the Green Dragon in Bywater. Welcome, hobbits and dwarves!
Every Friday in the Shire is a Green Dragon Friday! So welcome to Bywater tonight, hobbits! We start at 8PM GMT/UK (3PM /servertime) as usual. Yay!
Up and at it, hobbits! The Green Dragon is open again today, since it is Friday!
So from 8PM UK/GMT (3PM servertime) and two hours onwards, hobbits and travelling dwarves are welcome ter stop by fer drinks, songs, riddles, poems, gossip, stories, news and whatever else we can think of. Just have a look at the first post in the thread for the event guidelines!
See yer later, hobbits!
Another Friday! Yay!
As usual, the Green Dragon opens its doors to hobbits from all over the Shire (and even some hobbit visitors from the Bree-lands from time to time). Travelling dwarves are always welcome, while we strongly discourage visitors of the taller persuasion. Come as a hobbit instead, it is grand fun!
We'll have songs, dancing, poetry, riddles, news and whatever else we can think of! And as usual, we'll end the night with a grand fireworks show outside.
8PM GMT/UK (3PM servertime) and two hours onwards. Welcome hobbits!
Oh dear! It is Friday again!
Which means it is time fer the Green Dragon to open its doors to all hobbits and a few travelling dwarves. We start as usual, 8PM UK/GMT (3PM servertime). Bring a song, a poem or a riddle, or just come to dance and join the party!
This coming Friday, GDF will have a spring lover's theme! Miss Nannie's planned dance this Thursday sadly had to be cancelled due to bad weather ((server maintenance)), so we'll have some of them activities at the Green Dragon instead!
More information here!

Entertainmentwise, it is grand if any offered song/poems this Friday have a love/spring theme, with romantic dances being a particular favourite. We may also shuffle around the GDF format a little (if there ever was one..), but rest assured: We'll still have us some grand, good hobbity fun!
Welcome hobbits!
If the storm passes (and the servers are up), the Green Dragon will be open for business tonight from 8PM GMT/UK (3PM servertime), for the Spring Lover's Themed GDF Party Event Thing! See above post.
Welcome, hobbits and travelling dwarves! Here's hoping for good weather!
Since the servers are down, we're having a virtual Green Dragon Friday over on me burrow. Come join the fun!

Last week's storm has passed us by, and Barmy is eager to have his regulars (and new hobbits) come back to the Green Dragon tonight. I bet one Friday without making any coin really smarted...
Anyways, the doors open 8PM GMT (3PM servertime) as usual. Come by fer drinks and dancing, music and merriment, grand news and gossips and anything else we can think of. Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves!
PS: Remember that GDF is a hobbit-themed event, which is why we ask that those participating roll up a hobbit character (although travelling dwarves are welcome). This is not to be mean or wicked or anything, but at the time of the books, longshanks (in particular elves) were rarely (if at all) seen mingling with the locals in the Shire villages. Thanks!
GDF again tonight, 8PM GMT! Welcome hobbits, see yer there!
News and songs and poetry and riddles! It is time fer the weekly hobbit inn night at the Green Dragon. So welcome to Bywater tonight, hobbits! 8PM UK/GMT as usual! (3PM servertime)
Also note that next week, March 15th, the US have switched to Daylight Savings Time, while the EU haven't. Which messes up times a little, but let's deal with that in a week!
This is an important weekend for hobbits, with Bullroarer Took Day this coming Sunday. We'll warm up at the Green Dragon tonight, 8PM UK/GTM!
(Please note, though, that with the Daylight Savings Time change in the US last weekend, this is the same as 4PM servertime.)
Welcome to Bywater, hobbits! Please remember that GDF is an event for hobbits, with dwarves welcome.
Friday! The Dragon is Green! Add them together, and you get Friday Dragon Green! No, wait...
GDF as usual tonight, hobbits! 8PM UK/GMT in Bywater (which currently is 4PM servertime, due to the US Daylight Savings Time). Bring songs, riddles, poems or similar suitable for a hobbit inn night, and just whisper to the hobbit trying to keep control of things if yer want to perform somet. Else, just come to chat, drink, dance and be merry.
Welcome to Bywater tonight, hobbits! Please remember that GDF is an event for hobbits, with dwarves welcome.
Once again a Friday night, once again a Green Dragon Night! 8PM UK in Bywater, hobbits and visiting dwarves, a warm welcome to yer!
This is the last weekend with the mismatch between EU and US Daylight Savings Time, so the event still starts at 4PM /servertime. Next week, the EU has turned the clocks, and the time difference will be back to normal.
Friday, and another hobbit evening at the inn! The Green Dragon opens its doors to hobbits and dwarven visitors as usual, tonight, 8PM UK (3PM servertime).
Bring yer entertainment, gossip, hobbity news and merry moods. Hooray! Welcome hobbits!
Friday again! Green Dragon Friday again! 8PM UK in Bywater as usual (3PM servertime). Welcome hobbits and visiting dwarves!
There will be loooots of news today, not least about the 5th anniversary for GDF. Yes, it's been on fer five years soon! Hooray!
Plans for the anniversary include a warmup party April 26, the main party May 3rd, a pie baking competition, an arts competition and more. Stay tuned, hobbits!
We're getting near the GDF 5th anniversary, but this Friday will be one of them usual inn nights at the Dragon. Which means songs, dance, drink, poems, riddles and/or the latest in hobbit news! Oh, and surely fireworks!
Welcome hobbits + travelling dwarves!
With the GDF anniversaries well behind us, we're back to normal again! Which means that tonight, the Green Dragon opens its doors as usual, 8PM UK (3PM servertime), for songs, dancing, drinking, news, gossips and whatever else we can think of.
Welcome hobbits! See yer in Bywater!
Please remember: Green Dragon is an event for hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome. Players with characters of a taller persuasion are strongly encouraged to roll up a hobbit alt if they would like to participate, since longshanks were a rare sight at hobbit inns.
There will be a Green Dragon Friday this evening! Every Friday in the Shire is a Green Dragon Friday!
Currently, there is a massive bug with the music system. This means that many players are unlikely to be able to hear or perform using string-based and percussion instruments (lute, harp, theorbo, drum, cowbells).
Which may put a damper on any hobbit evening, but not this one. While GDF has certainly always been an important area for music, over the years there have also been tales, stories, poems, riddles, gossip and news. So instead of many song performances, try bring this some of this to the inn tonight. Or just spend more time to chat with the hobbits there and get to know them better.
We may try a few lute-based songs, though, if for no other reason to raise awareness to the bug, and to get you all to help fill in /bug reports.
Sustained wood instruments, like clarinet, flute and horn, will likely work still, so it won't be all silent. The less said about bagpipes and pibgorns, the better... Still, if you play songs prepared for the lute on sustained instruments, you may get the odd wheezing or grunting sound coming from your instrument *grins*
So a warm welcome tonight, hobbits + travelling dwarves! We start at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime) as usual, and we'll see just how long we go on! See yer at the Green Dragon!
Also, be advised that music works as planned if you relog while inside the Dragon. Don't leave after yer have done, though!
The Dragon is open again tonight, 8PM UK/BST as usual! Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves!
And please note the relog trick in the previous post if yer can't hear any music!
Yay! Friday! A Green Dragon Friday! Ere the sun rises!
*coughs*
The Green Dragon in Bywater opens its doors as usual at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime) to hobbits and travelling dwarves. Bring news, stories, songs, poetry, or just come to socialize and have a good time with the local hobbits. See yer!
Note 1:
Player music is still bugged, but everything should work and you'll hear both yerself and entertainers if you relog while inside the Dragon. Don't leave after yer have done so, though, that may trigger the bug again!
Note 2:
Longshanks are, as always, encouraged to avoid the inn during the event. If you have a quest in there you should of course come inside and do it, but if yer plan to attend the event, yer should roll up a hobbit! This is not because we are mean and hate the players behind elves and men, but because for two hours each week, we'd love to keep a hobbit-themed event in a hobbity atmosphere. And in the books, men were a rare sight in hobbit inns, while elves were never there.
It is Friday, so the Green Dragon in Bywater opens its doors to hobbits and visiting dwarves as usual, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Come to relax over a quart of ale, share yer news and gossip, and listen to songs, stories, and poetry. Perhaps we'll have some riddles too? We'll see!

Yay! Hooray! Green Dragon Friday!
And with the recent squashing of music bugs, you likely won't need to take short naps to hear the lutes either!
8PM UK (3PM servertime) in Bywater as usual. Be welcome, hobbits and visiting dwarves! Bring a song, story, poem, riddle or something similar, and the latest in news and gossip!
Friday! Green Dragon! Good hobbit times! 8PM UK (3PM servertime)!
As usual, the inn is open for hobbits and travelling dwarves, eager to share news, entertain each other, or have a grand and social time over an ale or five. See yer in Bywater!
Summer is here, but the Green Dragon is open as usual today! Welcome hobbits + travelling dwarves, them doors open 8PM UK (3PM servertime), fer music, dancing, stories, poems, riddles, news, gossip and drinking!

Yay fer Friday! The Dragon is open as usual, 8PM UK (3PM servertime), fer hobbits and visiting dwarves. Welcome!
Friday, and that can only mean that the Green Dragon opens its doors to hobbits and visiting dwarves again! New songs and poems have been promised, and the latest Shire news will be shared! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual, welcome!
Summer days make fer lazy days, but hobbits still need a visit to the inn! And the Green Dragon is eager ter accommodate them.
8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual! Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves!
Sure looks like it is Friday again! Which means that, yes, the Green Dragon in Bywater opens its doors for hobbits and travelling dwarves as usual. The inn opens 8PM UK (3PM servertime).
Should yer have some entertainment fer them crowds, be it a song, a story, a poem, a riddle or the latest in news, don't be shy! Just have a chat (or send a /tell) to the hobbit trying to keep things running smoothly, and yer will get a slot. Else, just come to socialize, drink, chat and dance, that's lovely too!
Welcome hobbits and dwarves!
The summer is hot indeed, which means that yer should surely drink much and often. Luckily, ale is plentiful at the Green Dragon, which opens its doors for hobbits and travelling dwarves as usual today, 8PM UK (3PM servertime). Welcome!
A brand-new poem has been promised, and there is sure ter be the usual in news, entertainment, dancing and gossiping. If yer have news or entertainment, just have a chat (send a /tell) to the hobbit trying ter keep things moving along smoothly. First-time performers are always especially welcome!
Let's just hope that ol' Barmy won't take advantage of the warm weather by increasing the prices again!
Friday! Green Dragon Friday for hobbits and travelling dwarves! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual at the Green Dragon inn in Bywater, welcome!
The hills are alive with the echoes of the bagpipes that have apparently been played the last two weeks. In addition, the milk in Barmy's kitchen went sour after the playing, so it seems he has raised the ale prices again to cover his losses. Anyways, as usual: The night should bring songs, dancing, poetry, stories riddles and/or news, as well as merry chatting with yer hobbit neighbours. The schedule is as loose as always.
Remember: GDF is an attempt to have a regular Tolkien-ish hobbit inn night, which means
- The event is totally in-character, so please avoid OOC chatting, forced emotes, spamming emotes (for instance, entering /dance 15 times in a row) etc.
- Suitable topics are anything that would interest a hobbit, which typically could mean food, local news, the harvest, gossiping about the neighbours and similar things. Most hobbits wouldn't ever be concerned with things happening outside of The Shire, much less travel outside of the bounds themselves.
- This is primarily a night for hobbits, although travelling dwarves that have a good reason to pass through The Shire are certainly welcome inside for a tankard of ale and some news from the road. We ask that men and elves do not come to participate at the event (other than coming in to do any quests they may have inside, of course). This is not because we hate the players behind tall characters, it is simply an immersion thing to keep this event a hobbit-themed one. Yer should certainly roll up a hobbit yerself to participate, though, it is grand fun!
- The inn is rather large, but the area around the "entertainment fireplace" soon gets crowded. If you want to run a long drawn-out discussion with just one or two other persons present, we suggest moving a bit away from the crowd. This way, the chat box will be more manageable for all present, and the event more enjoyable for everyone!
- Don't be afraid to offer up entertainment yourself, we love first-time performers (as well as the second-, third- and xxx-time ones too!). Just send a /tell to the hobbit trying to keep things going smoothly, and he or she will find room for you during the night.
Be well and be welcome, hobbits!
Friday again, which means that the Green Dragon opens its doors again fer hobbits and the odd visiting dwarf!
The order of the night is as loose as always, but expect something along the lines of songs, dancing, poetry, stories, riddles and the very latest in hobbity news!
8PM London time (3PM servertime) in Bywater, everyone. Welcome!
PS: Remember, GDF is (and have for more than five years been) a hobbit-themed event, with dwarves welcome. Elves and men are encouraged to stay away from the inn during the event, although yer should of course come in to advance any quests yer may have inside. This is not because we hate yer, but simply because we for two hours each week would love a hobbit-flavoured inn night somewhat close to the spirit of the books. Roll up a hobbit if yer want to attend, yer will find more roleplaying opportunities that way!
Since Bywater is currently looking more like a battleground than a lovely hobbit village due to the Farmer's Faire, we won't be at the Green Dragon tonight. Rather, our weekly hobbit inn gathering moves to the Bird and Baby in Michel Delving instead! Master Carlo Blagrove has promised us ales of the highest quality and softer dancing rugs than the Green Dragon, so I am sure we will have a good time there too.
So: The Bird and Baby in Michel Delving, 8PM UK (3PM servertime).
Welcome hobbits! Welcome visiting dwarves! Bring news and entertainment with yer!
The mayor and his helpers are still running rampant in Bywater! So tonight, we'll visit the Floating Log in Frogmorton instead. Hopefully, the fact that this is Friday the 13th won't make it problematic for our patrons ter come. Although, be sure ter look out fer them black kittens...
8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime) as usual! Hobbits and visiting dwarves welcome! See yer there!
Back to the Dragon, hobbits! The mayor has packed up his stuff and brought his noisy helpers with him! Yay!
So we're back in the Green Dragon tonight for the usual. Hobbits and travelling dwarves very welcome, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Welcome for dancing, music, poetry, riddles and news!
Another busy weekend in the hobbithood, and as usual we'll kick things off at the Green Dragon. 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime), hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome!
Friday again, Green Dragon Friday again! As usual, hobbits and merry dwarves are welcome to the inn in Bywater. Doors open at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime), and the event should last about two hours.
Music and dancing, news, poetry, riddles, stories and/or whatever else we can think of. And as usual, we'll end with fireworks outside!
If yer have entertainment or news items, please send a /tell to the hobbit trying to keep things moving along! First-time entertainers are especially welcome!
Welcome hobbits and dwarves!
Up and at it, hobbits! The Green Dragon opens again tonight, 8PM BST/UK (3PM servertime), with lively music, dancing, riddles, poems and the latest in hobbit news! See yer there!
As usual, the inn is open for hobbits and the odd visiting dwarf, eager to have a hobbity night at the inn.
Oh, and here is a video one of our guests have made from the event!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vklGBq_94YM
You folk are adorable ;p
I remember walking in and wondering why all these hobbits weren't racing round getting bounders' tokens. Now i appreciate that there's
more to life than a high score. Salute.
The Dragon is open again tonight, usual time! 8PM UK/London time (3PM Servertime). Welcome hobbits and visiting dwarves!
Friday sure equals Green Dragon time! At least for hobbits and visiting dwarves!
So the inn will be open as usual today, at 8PM UK/London time. However, given that the US is still on Daylight Savings Time, this equals to 4PM servertime. Next Friday we're back at the usual servertime (3PM)-
Welcome to a night of Shire music, dancing, poetry, news (!). And perhaps a small tribute to a fine bard that recently travelled west...
Up and at it, hobbits! It is Friday, and the Green Dragon opens its doors as usual! 8PM UK/London time (3PM servertime). Well-mannered, friendly dwarves are welcome as usual!
Expect lots of news, much music and dancing, perhaps some poetry and whatever else we can think of. Yay!
Friday again! A Green Dragon Friday too! Hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome to the weekly inn night in Bywater!
The agenda is as loose as ever, but expect dancing and music, drinking, poetry, news, and possibly even a story about a right ruffian! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) and two hours forward - welcome!
http://www.linawillow.org/home/wp-co...onFridayAd.png
It is another Green Dragon Friday, now also with the poster above made by master Speckles!
The doors open as usual tonight, 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome for a night of song, dance, news, riddles, poems and/or stories. And fireworks. Definitely fireworks. Outside!
See yer there, hobbits!
Here we go again! Another Friday, another hobbit inn night in Bywater! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual.
Expect music and dancing, merry chatting, news, poems, riddles, drinking, and the ever-popular fireworks display outside afterwards. Hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome. See yer at the Green Dragon!
Love to all hobbits this Christmas. Love to all hobbits who have a RL hobbit heart. Love to all hobbits with your furry feet, and warm hearths. Love to all hobbits who love to smoke a pipe and enjoy the comfortable elements of life. Love to all hobbits who attend Green Dragon Friday, an event created by hobbits, for hobbits. Special love to those who dare to play a mundane character, a character that could have been written by J.R himself. Special love again to those who dare to roleplay, and who live their character. Love to all.
My sincere love, to you all.
Mae/Lothilia.
Yay Lotti! Grand to hear from yer again, a very merry yule to yer! *cheers*
Speaking of yule: Here are the plans for the Green Dragon Friday yule parties this year:
The official GDF yule party: Friday December 27th, in the Green Dragon at the usual time. More information here.
The GDF new years party: Friday January 3rd, in the Plough and Stars in Brockenborings! Usual time, though. More information here.
Have a grand and lovely yule, hobbits!
Tonight is the Green Dragon Friday yule party! Welcome hobbits, to a yule-themed inn night in Bywater! Bring yule-ish news and entertainment! And come have some yule fun!
8PM UK time (3PM Servertime) in Bywater as usual, hobbits and friendly dwarves welcome. See yer!
It is the GDF New Year's party today! And as we traditionally do, we host this party in Brockenborings, at the Plough and Stars. After all, Barmy is likely still cleaning up after the yule party...
Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves! 8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual! Usual GDF guidelines apply.
Given the date, we just might need us a toast to that grand writer Ronald Dwale too, about one hour into the event!
Happy new year one and all! After a visit to Brockenborings last Friday, we're back in the Green Dragon tonight at the usual time; 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome, hobbits and dwarves!
The order of the night is loose as usual, but expect music and dancing, gossiping, news, drinking and a lively lovely time. Entertainers are very welcome - just sign in with whoever is hosting the event (preferably by a /tell)
Time permitting, we might have a mini-wassail too as part of the event, we'll see how it goes!
Please note: Green Dragon Friday is an event for and by hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome. This means that we ask men and elves to stay away from the event (although by all means come in to do any quests yer may have in the inn). This is not because we're mean and hate yer, but because we try to create a somewhat lore-relevant inn night every Friday. Men were a rare sight in the Shire inns, and most local hobbits in Bywater had never laid eyes upon an elf. Should yer want to join the event, please roll up a hobbit instead - it is marvellous fun!
Another Friday, another Green Dragon Friday! Perhaps even one with a dance lesson? We'll see! What is sure, though, is that there will be a lot of music, drinking, gossips and news. And whatever else them locals can think of.
8PM UK (3PM servertime) as usual in Bywater. Welcome hobbits and travelling dwarves!

A busy weekend awaits in the Shire, with lots of parties! However, we'll start in Bywater, where the Green Dragon is open as usual for hobbits all around. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment!

- Travelling dwarves are welcome (but we surely love it if yer come as a hobbit)
- We ask men and elves to stay away from the event (although by all means come in to do any quests yer may have in the inn).
This is not because we're mean and hate tall fellows. It is simply because we try to create a somewhat lore-relevant hobbit inn night every Friday (as we have for close to six years now). Men were a rare sight in the Shire inns, and most local hobbits in Bywater had never laid eyes upon an elf.
Should yer want to join the event, please roll up a hobbit instead - it is marvellous fun!
It is Highday/Friday, which is the seventh day of the Shire week, and a day hobbits consider a holiday. Highday is traditionally celebrated with evening feasts, and usual, hobbits will meet at the Green Dragon in Bywater. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment!

I was priveleged to participate last week even though I hadn't read this post or any others, but heard about it in the Pony. Hence I brought a woman along. I thoroughly enjoyed it and intend to be ther next week (RL stuff forces me to stay away this week). I now have a hobbit who is trying his best to level up (so he has his own surname). Claralyn will stay in the Pony but Gennetta and Garretd will be there and if allowed will play a reel or jig.
Garretd would love to sing: he has such a cute voice but my typing is not fast enough to put his wry Hobbit parody lyrics into the window. Is there a quick way of doing this, do you know? I've done some searching but come up with nothing. Cut and paste is so slow!
Thank you, and see you very soon.
Hullo there! Grand yer enjoyed it!
Most singers in-game use a plugin called Lyrical. That will store yer song lyrics/poems/stories, and yer can send new lines into the game by a click of the mouse in sync with yer song.
Yer can get Lyrical here: http://www.lotrointerface.com/downlo...5-Lyrical.html
Friday! Hobbits, meet at the Green Dragon in Bywater. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime). Welcome to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment!
Them last few days, the local hobbits have relaxed a bit after the surge of events at the start of the new year. Today, though, we just might have news of some upcoming parties! So come and listen to the gossip!
Please note:
Green Dragon Friday is an event for and by hobbits.

Friday again! Yay! Which means that the hobbit inn night is on as usual at the Green Dragon in Bywater. The doors open 8PM UK time (3PM servertime).
So, here's to a night of songs, dancing, drinking, news and merriment! Oh, and certainly all the news about the Southfarthing Gate Concert on Sunday. Welcome hobbits!

It is Friday yet again, and the Green Dragon is open as usual! The doors open at 8PM UK (4PM servertime due to the US being on Daylight Savings Time).
Songs, dancing, riddles, poems, drinking, news and whatever else we can think of! Welcome hobbits!

Else, there will be songs, dancing, drinking, gossiping news as usual! There may, however be less room for sign-ups on the night, due to the other activities planned.
The party starts at the usual GDF time, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be very welcome, hobbits!

Another Friday means another Green Dragon Friday! The doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK/BST as usual (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
One thing that is likely to be discussed tonight is the sudden increase of the shrew population in the Shire. It seems some hobbits even bring them into the inns! Barmy has been seen shaking his head over this and is likely to start putting out traps to catch the little pests. The shrews, that is, not the hobbits. So, please consider leave yer pets outside, them have no real place in an inn where food is served and hobbits want to relax and dance.
As usual, GDF is an event for and by hobbits. While a few travelling dwarves are always welcome, we kindly ask that men and elves don't attend the event, since they were a rare sight in the Shire of the books. We'd rather keep this as a hobbit event, where hobbits can be themselves and act naturally, without being scolded (or even stepped on) by the big folk.
Do you hear what I hear? Yes, it is the lure of Friday calling! Which means another hobbit inn night at the Green Dragon! The doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK/BST as usual (3PM servertime). Be welcome!

Also, there has been a slight, but unfortunate increase in OOC dialogue in the /say channel in recent months (not just at the Dragon, but on Laurelin at large). I'd like to politely remind our patrons about the general RP guidelines that is in effect in Laurelin, not least the one specifically labelling the /say channel as in-character. There are of course many opinions about what in-character may be, but the linked guidelines states that '“In character” means that all chat must abide by the lore of The Lord of the Rings'. For me, that would rule out dialogues as "Hi, I saw you on server xxx last week" and references to stuff outside of Tolkien's world (for instance, ninjas). This is not a huge problem still, but the signs of increased OOC are there.
So please remember: We'd like to keep GDF as an event that fosters hobbit roleplaying and fun, open for newcomers and veterans alike. We'd rather not have it turn into a social hangout where the lore gets thrown out of the window (or under the rug, worn though it may be). Although we are far away from the latter still, please remember to keep the server RP policies in mind, and I am sure we'll get along swimmingly!

What to look forward to? A good-natured evening at the inn, sampling the local ales. Hobbit gossip and news. Dancing and drinking. Music. Poetry. Stories. Riddles. Or similar things. Hope to see yer there, hobbits!

Due to the Farmer's Faire making a mess of things over in Bywater, Green Dragon Friday will move to different venues the coming two weeks. So, here are the plans:
Friday September 5th: Golden Perch Friday, at the Golden Perch in Stock.
Friday September 12th: Andy Brockhouse Birthday Friday, at Andy Brockhouse's stall just outside of the Shire Homesteads.
Both events start at the usual GDF time, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Usual GDF policies apply as well, so these are events for hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome.
Welcome, hobbits! Hope yer manage to find them new locations! GDF will be back in Bywater come September 19th!
It's Friday! Time for another Green Dragon Friday...
... But wait! The Farmer's Faire is still on, so it is being relocated again!
Instead, we will be heading over to the Southfarthing Gate (near the entrance to the Homesteads) to celebrate Andy Brockhouse's Birthday with a Green-Dragon-Style evening!
The event starts at the usual GDF time, 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Usual GDF policies apply as well, so these are events for hobbits, with travelling dwarves welcome.
GDF will be back in Bywater come September 19th!
Up and at it, Dragoneers! Friday is Highday and the happiest day in the hobbit week! And now that the mayorly deeds in Bywater is well over with, we're safe and sound back at the Green Dragon again. Sticky rug and high ale prices and all.
The doors to the weekly hobbit inn night open as usual at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be welcome!

Thanks!
This coming Friday will be a regular GDF. However, the regular yule parties are coming up:
The Green Dragon Friday yule party will be held Friday December 26th.
The new years party will be held at the Plough and Stars in Brockenborings, Friday January 2nd.
Both events start 8PM UK (3PM servertime). While them have a yule and new years theme respectively, this will be quite similar to a usual Green Dragon Friday. So remember, these are hobbit events, with travelling dwarves welcome.

This Friday will have a yule-themed Green Dragon Friday! Hobbits all over are invited to celebrate yule Bywater style! And if yer have yule-themed music, stories, poetry or similar yer would like to perform, don’t hesitate to sign up!
Date: December 26th, 2014
Time: 8PM UK (3PM servertime)
Location: Green Dragon inn, Bywater
Event details:
Yule is an important celebration for hobbits. Even though many hobbits stay home with their family and loved ones during the yule days, quite a few want to meet with their friends as usual. So it is no big surprise that Barmy over at the Green Dragon wants to get in on the yule festivities this year!
While the event will follow the usual Green Dragon format, it is especially grand if the entertainment offered has a yule theme to it, be it songs, stories, poems, riddles or similar. Welcome hobbits!
OOC details:
This is Green Dragon Friday, but with a yule-ish theme to it. Usual guidelines apply, which means that this is a hobbit event, with traveling dwarves welcome.
If yer know yer have some entertainment to offer the crowds (yule themed things especially welcome), send a message or sign up during the night. We’ll try to add in as much as possible within the regular two-hour duration of the event.
Merry yule everyone!

It is Green Dragon Friday! But in Brockenborings! And with a new years theme! Yay!
Date: January 2nd, 2015
Time: 8PM UK (3PM servertime)
Location: Plough and Stars inn, Brockenborings
Event details:
Barmy keeps the Green Dragon closed to clean up after the GDF yule party, so this Friday we’ll be at the Plough and Stars in Brockenboring for the new years party! And there are no better hobbits to greet the new year with than yer fellow Brockenborians! After all, we usually do so!
So come greet the new year and the coming brighter days with us! Bring a tale, a song, a poem, a riddle or something similar, if yer have fireworks that’s grand too (fer use outside), and we will have us a party worth remembering!
OOC details:
Same as the regular Green Dragon Friday, this is a hobbit RP event, with dwarves welcome! As usual, we request that the big folk respect the hobbit-oriented nature of the event and not attend. Do roll up a hobbit instead, though, it is marvellous fun!
After the yule and new years celebrations, things are back to normal at the Green Dragon! Which means that the local hobbits can meet for the usual Green Dragon Friday inn night from 8PM UK time (3PM servertime) tonight! Expect songs, dance, poetry, news, gossip, drinking, riddles, socializing, and other things!
Some tips about the event:
GDF can sometimes be relaxed and slow, but at other times things get very busy. If you are a first-time visitor, it is a perfectly natural and valid approach to stay in a corner to observe things a little, to get an overview of the rhythm of the event. Still, the locals are a friendly and sociable lot, so don't be shy to join the dancing, drinking and conversations!
The typical schedule of any GDF night is as follows:
- Before 8PM UK: Hobbits gather at the inn, some chat by the bar, others play music by the entertainment fireplace.
- Ca 8PM: The host starts the night by the entertainment fireplace, typically with some songs and welcoming words. Now is a good time to sign up if you have entertainment to offer.
- From ca 0815PM: The floor is opened for signed-up entertainers. Dancing, drinking, chatting etc. last through the night.
- Ca 0845-0900PM: The news slot, where news of local Shire events and hobbit happenings are introduced (events on Laurelin only). Afterwards, entertainment continues.
- Ca 10PM: The inn night closes, usually with the regular closing number, "Home Sweet Home"
- After 10PM: Fireworks outside the Green Dragon. Farewells. Slow-travelling ride (or walk) towards the Shire homesteads
Deviations from this schedule may occur, though!
If you would like to offer some entertainment for the crowd (please do!), we run a sign-up system on the night to keep things progressing smoothly. To sign up, please send a /tell to the hobbit acting as the host. Sometimes, there are more sign-ups than there is time for in the regular two hours the event lasts. If so and there is no time for you, don't despair! There is always the opportunity next Friday! Also, everyone is advised to try keep their performance as short and smooth as possible: Bands typically play ca 3 songs, stories shouldn't really last longer than 10 minutes effective time etc. You'll get the hang of it!
In addition to the entertainment, it is grand if the event doesn't just turn into a "play music and dance" event. Please chat about the weather, the latest mistakes made by the mayor, upcoming parties, the good crops or anything else that would be natural for a hobbit in the Shire. This keeps the roleplaying going, and brings spice and life to the event.

I'm so jealous you guys are still having so much fun! Really awesome this event has been going so long and I wish I could have been more of a part of it. My heart is in this event and now I'm on the outside looking in :( Big love to you all. I have a family now and another baby on the way by the way (maybe i'll call him Halfast Or Halfpast, or Owfast etc.. ) and no time at all for this game which for a good three years was MY LIFE. If it all goes wrong in the real world I'll be back here in a heartbeat. xxxx
Big love to you all. Hobbits and Longshanks, but in particular Hobbits. This event is nearly 7 years old in May right?
Quarterpast? *grins*
I hope yer won't be shy should yer have the time a Friday evening, Lotti! It's good for them new hobbits to see who started the event back in the day, and us old-timers always think it is grand to see yer again. Just, er, don't tell Jimothy we're still going on?
And aye, there should be a 7-year anniversary party or two in Early-to-Mid May!
Looks like it is Friday again! One might think this was a recurring thing by now!
Which means that the Green Dragon is open as usual tonight. The doors open for hobbits and visiting dwarves at 8PM UK (3PM servertime). Be welcome!

Tip of the day:
The local hobbits love performers of various kinds; Musicians, poets, riddle-tellers or similar. To sign up, just send a tell to the hobbit in charge of the proceedings, and he or she will do his/her best to find a good slot for yer.
Yay Friday! Highday! Hobbit day of celebration!
And the Green Dragon in Bywater opens its doors as usual, 8PM UK time (3PM servertime), for hobbits and travelling dwarves. Welcome!

Tip of the day:
GDF always strives to be a somewhat lore-conforming hobbit inn night. Players there generally roleplay Shire hobbits meeting up for a night at the inn after a long work week, and we ask that your chat and actions reflect this. News discussed should typically be about hobbit goings-on in the Shire (and on Laurelin, not on other servers).
Obviously, this also means that we follow the Laurelin LOTRO RP guidelines:
https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...les-and-Policy
Short version:
- The purpose of the RP servers is (among others) to give players the opportunity to be deeply immersed within the lore of The Lord of the Rings.
- Player names should be within the spirit of The Lord of the Rings, inspired by and reflecting the lore (however, don't make similar names to the major characters).
- Be tolerant over the roleplaying choices of others, and don't use roleplaying as a tool to harrass other players.
- Player chat, especially /say and emotes, should be in-character and abide by the lore of The Lord of the Rings.
Using the ((double brackets for OOC chat)) is generally unfortunate, since all you do is call attention to the fact that you knowingly break the server guidelines. Generally we use these to provide specific times ((UK time, servertime etc.)) or links to the local newspaper and event listings, but not for anything else.
Don't worry, though! The hobbits at the Dragon are a friendly lot, and no-one is likely to scold you over simple mistakes *smiles*
Friday! Two things of note:
1) Remember that the US switched to Daylight Saving Time last Sunday, while the EU hasn't yet. Which means that the Dragon opens at 8PM UK as usual, but that this means 4PM servertime the coming three weeks (Until March 29th)
2) Tonight is Lone Bards Night at the Green Dragon!
What is Lone Bards Night? First of all, this will be part of Green Dragon Friday, the long-lasting weekly hobbit gathering on the Laurelin server. This is where hobbit roleplayers on Laurelin meet up for a night at the inn on Fridays, to relax and enjoy themselves after a long week.
Lone Bards Night is essentially “Green Dragon Friday unplugged”. This will mostly be Green Dragon Friday as usual, but with one big exception: We won’t allow bands to play. Instead, we ask for solo or duo-based entertainment:
• Music (solo or duo)
• Poems
• Short stories
• Riddles or rhymes
• Short duo plays
• Or similar. Please be creative!
To allow for as many performances as possible, please do not plan with too much time (typically, 3 songs, max 10-minute stories etc). Short and sweet is good!
In particular, we encourage new hobbit entertainers to come perform! While there are many veterans around whose performances are always welcome, at the Green Dragon we have a particular fondness for first-time (and even second- or third-time) performers. I am sure you’ll find us to be a friendly and appreciative crowd, so please don’t be shy!
Lastly, please remember to keep your performance somewhat hobbity lore-relevant. Green Dragon Friday is about roleplaying hobbits in the Shire, and their traits and interests should be a good guide for your performance as well. Don’t worry too much, though, we certainly welcome inexperienced roleplayers too!
To sign up, just show up at the Green Dragon on Friday March 13th! When the night kicks off, the host will ask for entertainers to sign up. This is done by sending a /tell to the host, where you say what you would like to do. The host will then open up for the different performers during the of the night.
Welcome hobbits!
Friday! Highday! Hobbit party day!
The doors to the Green Dragon opens as usual, 8PM UK time tonight. And since the EU is now also on Daylight Saving time, this means we're back to the usual 3PM servertime too.
Welcome hobbits!
Please note:
Green Dragon Friday is a roleplaying event for and by hobbits.
- Travelling dwarves are welcome (but we surely love it if yer come as a hobbit)
- We ask men and elves to stay away from the event (although by all means come in to do any quests yer may have in the inn).
This is not because we're mean and hate tall fellows. It is simply because we try to create a somewhat lore-relevant hobbit inn night every Friday (as we have for close to seven years now). Men were a rare sight in the Shire inns, and most local hobbits in Bywater had never laid eyes upon an elf. Whenever a tall visitor enters the inn, it changes the dynamic of the event, and it progressively turns less hobbit-oriented. And that makes us somewhat sad.
Should yer want to join the event, please roll up a hobbit instead - it is marvellous fun!

Now that all them anniversary parties are over, things are going back to normal at the Green Dragon. So the inn is open as usual this coming Friday, May 29, from 8PM UK (3PM servertime) onwards. Welcome hobbits!

It is Friday night! And since every Friday is a Green Dragon Friday, Barmy will open his inn to hobbits and visiting dwarves as usual at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
Babble - a plugin to combat emote spam
Some hobbits have over the years complained over the noise and chatter at the Dragon, saying they are unable to cope with all that is happening. We just may have something to aid yer! Simbo has been busy making earmuffs for yer, so yer should be able to survive the goings-on there.
Or rather, he has made a plugin called Babble, which filters away unneccesary emote texts from your chat window, for instance clap, cheer, dance and similar. So from now on, the text in your chat window won't flash by so fast that you can't see the good stuff.

As usual, please note that Green Dragon Friday is an event for and by hobbits, with dwarven visitors welcome. For lore reasons, we ask that men and elves stay away from the inn these two hours (however, should you have quests inside the inn, you should of course run in and finish those).
The Green Dragon is open as usual tonight, for hobbits from all across the Shire (and some even beyond). The doors open at 8PM UK/BST (3PM servertime). Be welcome!
Expect gossip, lots of music and dancing, (un)healthy samplings of Barmy's brews, poetry, tales, riddles and other things. And most certainly - the very latest in Shire news! Not to mention the usual fireworks display outside after the inn closes. Oh, did I mention it? Dang...
Anyways! Welcome oldtimers and first-time visitors alike!

Hi, hoping to run a hobbit on the server to partake in this tonight before i decide to transition to the server permanently, thing is I might not manage to get a character out of the intro before 8 because I have a little one who wont actually settle in bed til after 7pm. Am I okay to just pop in as soon as I can?
I am sure all will go well!
The Dragon can sometimes be a bit busy on Friday nights, with a lot of visitors chatting and dancing and generally being jolly. It is perfectly OK to just come in and observe things quietly, if yer like. Else, simple things like "Hello" and "I am visiting for the first time" is a good way to start, should you want to start interacting with others.
One tip (if you haven't already) is to enable chat bubbles in your ui settings, that'll help you see who speaks in /say.
thank you that reassures me a lot :)
It is Friday, and once again the Green Dragon welcomes hobbits to the weekly inn night at the regular time: 8PM UK / 3PM servertime. Dancing, poems, drinking, songs, stories and news! Welcome!
