It might have people you group with running all their alts through the festival dailies, again and again. With the new level increase it has me thinking "do I have enough essence reclamation scrolls to handle the raft of mini gear/essence updates on the horizon?" A couple of festivals a year used to be enough but the last year's been rough on resources.
Seems like half the year has some event on.

Thanks for correcting it so quickly. Is the VIP sale not on tho? If u don't want festivals , don't do them. Tho understand ur difficulty. I like festivalsm but am new.
This should really go under announcements.
I wonder if there will be a Farmers Faire encore? Will it be scheduled later or will there be none? I need to know to be able to plan my activities for the remaining time of the festival. Not sure I understand why some festivals have encores while others don't. So little time, so much to do...
Why in the world is there no title for the Golden Egg deed?
I have found 2 in the 6 years this has been in the festival - I want to brag in game please !!!!!
The Events calendar still shows:
or in simple Beaconese that would be "will run from September 15th through the 19th"
Tale of the Shipwrecked Mariner 9/15/18@10am 9/20/18@3am
The LOTRO Beacon #77 issued today states:
- The Tale of the Shipwrecked Mariner will run from September 15th through the 17th!
One of them is surely correct. Confirmation please ;)
As the next issue of the Beacon will not arrive before the 20th, you might also want to check that it will confirm that Bilbo's Birthday will be as shown on the Calendar (runs from 20th through 25th):
Thanks :)
Bilbo's Birthday 9/20/18@10am 9/26/18@3am
The Beacon now correctly states "The Tale of the Shipwrecked Mariner will run from September 15th through the 19th!" so that's been answered, indirectly.
I like the unstated unexpected extra day we sometimes get at the end of a festival. Great for those people who just can't seem to realize it's the last day of the festival!
The extra day thrown in helps for those people. Not me of course.
I'm sorry to say that we're delaying the start of the Harvestmath Festival by a day or so in order for us to get out a necessary patch. We'll extend the festival on the other side to account for it, and will have more info shortly.

Define "shortly". I may have to add it to the definition of "soon" in my signature. ;)
The Events Schedule has been updated through the end of the year.
LOTRO Beacon Issue 82 is showing an incorrect end date:
- Enjoy the Fall Festival now through Novemeber [sic] 7th!
This should read:
- Enjoy the Fall Festival now through November 6th!
And PLEASE can we stop using a term which Tolkien himself would have had a fit over. The use of the word "Fall" is peculiarly American and, as we all know, Tolkien detested what happened to much of the language (and many other things) in the New World. His term would be "Autumn" or one of the many variants used in game such as "Harvestmath" or "Harvest".
I doubt any of the races would have used "Fall" at least not in such an abbreviated form as opposed to some Sindarin expression meaning "The time of falling leaves" :D
However, if you cite a reference to Tolkien's work in the next few days, I will happily stand corrected and will double my intended donation to support the SSG team :)
error : to be deleted
Thanks Cordovan. You're wonderfully diligent about the Events Schedule which is a great improvement since you came to us for which we're grateful.
We appreciate the work done to ensure few things un-Tolkien sneak into the game... meaning we only lost a few battles :D (Oh! You wondered what they were? Well, just one example is when Crafting Guilds first came out and our lowbie scholar toons struggled to Rivendell and searched the second floor of the Last Homely House for the Guild Hall only to find it's on the first floor :( But then Tolkien may have just said "It's upstairs" and left us to find out how many stairs to climb ha ha
(Note for those who don't understand and are interested, in England the first floor is upstairs, but I'm well off topic now so back to the game ;) )
With the change of keys and lootboxes in the wake of U23 - what sense is there to have a lootbox weekend?
In older days I hardly found lootboxes (and keys) dropping faster or more often than outside such a weekend. With keys shop only now and just the new lootboxes dropping I find it just questionable to have such an event.
Treasure hunter event points you to the shop, too. But at least you can get the pick-axes in-game. Having lootboxes thrown at you with no more means to open them in-game (once old keys are used) up isn't fun for me.
Will that vendor for older lootboxes that Cordovan mentioned be introduced then at least?

Just asking to plan accordingly.
Can we have more buried treasure events please?
We really don't have enough of them...
They could change the upcoming lootbox weekend to a buried treasure one - where we unearth lootboxes and can exchange special keys for them from the barterer ;)
I hate to ask, since I see we have an encore on the schedule, but... will this Harvestmath be extended by a couple days due to the issues early on?
It would be nice, since we have all this awesome new stuff to do and get.
If not, I guess the encore makes up for it, but hey I like icing on my cake. :-D
The 25% XP Boost has been changed to a 25% Crafting Boost on 11/21.
Will the Harvestmath Encore also play on the Legendary Servers? I hope so!!
Just going through the stream from last week and if I'm not mistaken (no native English Speaker) it was mentioned the Yuletide Festival is going to start sooner (with this week's patch).
To do some planning: when will it end in that case?
From the Schedule so far Yuletide Festival is to run from
12/18/18@10am
to
1/14/19@3am.
Ok, the original post has been updated with the latest information. I would caution that while we still have the Yuletide Festival starting at 10:00am Eastern on Thursday, we're also tentatively planning to release a game update on Thursday (stay tuned). So, the start time might actually be whenever we reopen the worlds.
ALSO: As you can see, we've got the schedule set up through the early part of 2019, but the rest of the year is pretty blank right now. So, now is a great time to let us know which events are your favorite, which you would like to see return more regularly, and which you'd prefer we do less often (yup, we know Hobnanigans has a divided opinion.)
I definitely like the Treasure Hunt, and it's been some time since we have seen one :) Maybe in February after yule?
Also, I would love it if the developers would look into creating a few more "mini" festivals that pop up throughout the year. New ones, maybe a "mathom hunt" throughout an area of the shire in very similar fashion to the Treasure Hunt..... or a mini festival around Adso's camp somewhere, or around Duillond, etc.... something new. Something that can pop up maybe once a quarter or so.
I despise festivals or events of any kind, but I have a possible compromise that might get me into them. essence reclamation scrolls and star lit Crystals are things in high demand these days. Bring down the price for these a lot for festival barter. include also anfalas scrolls of empowerment at a reasonable price, and you will see a lot more people invest their time in these events, increasing in game time for sure.
2018's schedule seemed really good. Festivals were appropriately placed during the proper seasons of the year.
Well except for some of the encores, but that's understandable. I've been debating with myself which is better, longer festivals to begin with, or encores of the festival. I can't decide which I prefer.
One thing that would be great for a lot of people I think, would be if the festival barter exchange NPC could stick around for a day or so after the festival activities end. If that's possible.
I think I like all the festivals pretty equally. And I love when new stuff is added to them (like all the awesome new stuff in the Harvest festival). And Yule Fest in July was fun!
I'm in the more frequent Hobnanigans camp. And the treasure hunt could certainly happen more often. Or... any other new small events like those would be great!
Oh and P.S. Put that dang Poorly Hidden Chest in the haunted burrow on a different timer! Either reset at the standard reset time. Or a 20 hour cool down after opening. Thanks!
My favourite festivals are the ones where a lot of quests are takeable in one place (summer, farmer's faire, fall and yule). I mostly do them to earn essence reclamation scrolls and anfalas star-lit crystals. I think anfalas scrolls of empowerment would be a great addition to festival rewards. And having a 'festival centre' also for anniversary and spring festivals would be great.
Time-table wise I think this year's (2018) plan was great - all festivals were during the fitting time.
For me a monthly Hobnanigans (a weekend) is fine. Hobnanigans items cost a lot of tokens, and you can to put other active event without problem at the same time. In my opinion the festivals list and hobaninags weekends are two separate things and you can to manage it this way. Only my humble opinion.
Sergio :-)
Some feedback and wishes for 2019: ;)
Overall, 2018's Schedule was fine!
The new summer instances and the additions to the Harvestmath were really great.
The Treasure Hunt could be active more often in the coming years. Just please make the bound to account emotes to be bartered for tokens even if the char already knows them.
Farmers Faire is a nice event with lots to do, so an extension or better an encore would be great.
The Return to Winterhome in Summer was a nice addition to cool down in the summer. ;)
But please get rid of Lootbox Weekends. Don't really make sense any more imho.
In the past there were some "events" with GMs walking around the servers giving out fashion titles and such. Perhaps there are some realistic ideas for some interaction and fun without a lot of work to be done.
I'm not sure what to do with hobnanigans.
Us players in my kinship like some of the rewards but prices are quite high.
We do play it sometimes but when festivals/events overlap hobnanigans loses most of the time.
Personally I'd prefer to be able to play a little game or two whenever we are in the mood to do so, not on a given weekend (making them permanent available instead of just at an event, perhaps like a skirmish or something like that). And perhaps have a hobnanigans tokens +% weekend or some kind of official championship weekend instead with titles or so.
Truth to be told that event needs some love imho.
I generally like encores better than just extensions having quite some chars to run through festivals. So a pause is appreciated. And often I realise that I missed a char or got a new one or needed some more housing items or such things. Then I can to that in the encore.
Besides of course simply having little to no time to play at the original time of an event.
Having festival barterers around all time would be nice indeed. And adding those other LI items to the barter lists would be great - but only at a reasonable price which the actual token prices for crystals are not imho. Especially if you happen to have more than one char.
I'd really want the costume NPCs to stick around all time. I like the costumes.
The reduced cost for Warsteed cosmetics was fantastic, the non reduced prices of last year's mount not so. Adding figments as rewards was really fine!
Looking forward to Yuletide Festival and the new instances.
A few thought.
1) How about a random festival weekend. Throw a dart at a festival board and run that festival for the weekend.
2) Hobbit gamble weekend. Run the Taste of Hobbiton part of the festival but allow us to bet gold on the race with odds of winning.
3) TTHTI weekend. Set some sort of timer that spawns a random NRP hobbit and starts in Bree town and ends at the steps on Isengard. We have to take that NPC to Isengard and the top 10 times on each server get some sort of prize. Then mix it up sometime and take the hobbit to some other Iconic location.
4) Fishing weekend. In certain area put a chance to get rare items while fishing over the weekend.
5) PvP weekend. Double the amount of Commendations earned over the weekend.
/signed a lot for the fishing event!
Sergio :-)
Forgot to mention this:
The Bounder's Event was great and had many nice exclusive rewards. I'd love to see that one again and get a chance to obtain some more of those housing items.
;)
I am one of the people that LOVE the festivals! Love the locations, the encores, the fun items you can barter for. I am always sad knowing I won't see places like Winterhome or Wistmead again for a year lol. I would love to see more housing items in the future, more than new dresses or horses. Love the cosmetic pets. Would love more Treasure Hunts.
I have at least 8 characters at level cap but I only play solo and have very bad armour and jewellry, so earning the festive shadow essence boxes and star lit crystals is VERY important to me, I can't afford to equip that many people with the best equipment and can't do the harder areas. Haven't even tried Mordor yet.
It would really help to have a forge/relic master at all event areas, I don't know how hard it would be to add one NPC to Winterhome/Wistmead/Party Tree/etc. I really appreciate the items xp we get from festivals and would rather be having fun with festival quests than running to a forge master all the time :)
I know what you mean.
Btw: anyone knows what the Skirmish Event is to be? Sounds interesting.
Skirmish Event
2/7/19@10am
3/12/19@3am
Bring back Bounder's Bounty!
Or the Ranger's Offensive!
Or the Fashion Maven!
Or whoever it was that handed out "best house in the neighborhood" trophies!
Blasts from the past like this would be a lot of fun and hopefully not too difficult on your end since you're not creating something entirely new.
I actually love Hobnanigans but sadly I never get to play :( The reason for that is because my friends can't spend 12 hours a day playing Hobnanigans while it's up, so they don't even bother going since they can't get any rewards, and I can't play alone.
The reward barter prices are far too high, you can't really earn any of them just having fun.
You need to be ready to grind heavily every day, and most of that hard work consists of standing still for a very long time waiting for someone else to come along and then doing one single activity, rinse and repeat, and it's really difficult to get people to come a second time after they have tried once and seen the prices and how they will never ever get enough tokens to buy anything :(
I would still like to see The Running of the Turtles! idea implemented.
https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...of-the-Turtles
Somewhat later I repeated the same idea, but this time making things more low-level character friendly by having the turtles "simply" do knockback and daze targets as they head through Bree toward Nen Harn. But, ATM I have not re-located that thread. So basically this comes down to a kind of "bumper cars" mini-game. Maybe some kind of cosmetic or consumable as a reward for making it through Bree without getting bumped and/or dazed?
PS: Cordovan: You've got a timing paradox with the current 2019 Calendar of Events. The Anniversary is starting on Apr 19th and ending on Apr 1st... H.G. Wells not withstanding, you cannot end the event before it starts! ;)
sorry that i post here something not realated to the Title.

Will be Yule festival encore this year? It seems that event schedule is not so detailed this time.
Would be indeed nice to know if an encore is coming for Yule Festival - or another Winterhome in July. ;)
We are open to hearing from you, but since Yuletide will have been here for about a month before it's done, it seems perhaps not wanted to have an encore of it.
Yulefest is easily my favourite festival, so, personally I certainly wouldn't complain about an Encore. :)
Yes, please!! I bet a lot of us would like one, because it seems even at a month long never enough time to get it all done!! Such nice rewards this time around!! :)
I don't mind an encore. If there are those who are tired of it, how is it any skin off their noses? Just don't go out there.
I'd appreciate a Yule encore as well. The holidays were ridiculously busy this year for me so I barely got to play. Even the few chars I'm running through haven't gotten to do much. :(
I'd love a Yule encore.
I just hope they extend yule festival for ONE more day :) As I will be missing ONE day worth of quests for A Festive Flurry (final). It would be okay if I could continue from where I left when next yule festival comes, but it completely resets again then :/
no 1 signed if its a something new n not the current seasonal fests
no 4 signed
more proposals
racing weekends as it used to be 4 people racing 1 wins but no time restrictions
add a deed wth special rewards depending the race (example bree, human decoration rewards etc)
add races in moria or erebor n lothlorien so all free people have their own type of race
add a special type of race at rohan with special rewards, competitors have to complete tier I of the deed to participate
By the way: Festivals? The current schedule only lasts until the beginning of March. Do you know how plans are further into this year, Cord?
Seeing as how you've gated the best essences behind festival instance, yes we want more yulefest
I'd really appreciate a Yule Fest encore! :) Adding my voice to others who do too.
Christmas season is the busiest holiday time all year, and while Yule fest was around for a month, many of us didn't get to participate as much as it allows.
I'm just one day behind in completing final tier of Festive Flurry dailies... An encore will be so appreciated!
Typically, based on previous years.....
Yule Encore (if it happens): Mid-February to Late February or Early March.
Spring Festival: Mid-March through Early April.
Anniversary: Mid-April through early May.
Summer Festival: Late June through Mid-July.
What I am hoping for next though in late January or so..... is a Treasure Hunt! I believe the last time we had one was July 2018, so I think it is overdue.... :)
An encore would be nice. The weeks around Christmas and the End of the Year/New Year are usually quite busy and there is less time to play.
Cordovan:
Yuletide is unique in that many of us are very busy during the year end holidays, which keeps many of us out of the game, if not all years, but certainly enough years to disappoint us to see Yuletide last only a short time never to return.
YES, encore 2018/2019 Yuletide, and please keep encoring all festivals, but especially the Yuletide festival.
It's nice to hear ahead of time on not bringing back Yuletide in a 2019 encore, so players can speak out about how much we love Yuletide each year.
Wish I could list the names of the players who like Yuletide so much that it's their #1 favorite festival.
Having said that, all other festivals throughout the year are very much packed also.
PLEASE bring back Yuletide.
I recall several years ago it was the norm to engage encores for all festivals, if not most for sure. Players love this.
Thank you Cordovan for asking for our comments, and for reading them.
:)
Having another Yule event in summer like last year would make the encore redundant, though. It's a "totally not Christmas"-event, three times a year is a bit too much, IMHO.
Add me to the list of Encore fans please. The holiday season was so busy this year, and with many players also now playing a new server full of new alts, of all the years to not put out an encore, this would probably be the worst one to not include it. Players have got used to having them now, so my suggestion would be if you plan to discontinue them, then do so with an announcement on any future encore, that it will be the last one - and keep them coming until that announcement is made. That way, no nasty surprises for your player base, some of whom, have come to rely on the encores if their playtime is short.
Please no more Encores, let us just play the game.
[B]Yes please a yule fes encore would be welcomed by so many of us;)And Are why can't you just play the game when a fes is going on?? I do I go and do the fes quests then go back out to the current region I'm in and quest as well that simple!
I hope there will be a Yule Fest encore this year.
This holiday season was especially hectic, so I didn't get nearly enough time to enjoy it.
An encore for this year's Yule festival would awesome!
Encore, please. I'm complete this year and don't need to participate in an encore, but I've definitely been thankful for festival encores in the past when life happened and I missed a significant portion of them. Encores do no harm to me or anyone else who chooses not to participate.
yes please keep the encore
I agree you can just ignore it, I've done it. I don't care for encores and don't want em, but for me its about the game itself not to have it. Not just that i don't want them, but that it should be special for lotro to only have once a year festivals, as it was years ago.
I concur. If an encore is not going to happen, it would be helpful to know in advance so I can plan who to play and what to buy during the time it's available. If a festival occurs when I'm really busy, I often count on the encore to make it possible for me to get the things I want, especially the steeds.
It would also be nice if the daily quest amount was reduced a bit, say to 8 instead of 10. That way I don't have to worry about others being around for theater or snowball fight to complete the wrapper quest, and I can potentially run through more alts that way. :)
Years ago the festivals had much less items to barter and a lot of the cosmetics were not bound to account.
Last year's mount was discounted and there even was a complete war steed set to be bartered for a reasonable price.
Years ago a lot of people in my kinships (incl. myself) had much more time to play - and probably less other chars who may be in a level range to use a warsteed.
Now you need almost two days to barter for one piece of war steed cosmetics if you aren't sitting on a lot of tokens. And even golden tokens run out fast with prices of 80 tokens.
Last year's mount isn't (eventually) discounted anymore.
New cosmetics can't be shared with kith and kin anymore but must be bartered by each and every one. Yes, there are gift boxes but once opened you are stuck with them.
And play time has grown much shorter.
I'm not even looking at things like colours, scrolls, crystals or figments at this festival.
Harvestmath was fine but Yuletide prices for war steed cosmetics were a dissapointment - especially since the items are really nice. Finally a rather simple head piece.
If mounts and warsteed cosmetics had reasonable prices and/or were available for longer than two years (no, I dont think the MC prices for at least the cosmetics are reasonable) I might not call for encores. But as it is now it helps. Especially with Yuletide as that is a really busy time in RL.
I'd originally thought the Yule festival time seemed long enough, but then ended up out of town for the latter half of December...so count me as +1 more for voting ENCORE (just needed 4 more days to finish my Spirit of Yule quests, alas).
Years ago, things were a lot more simple and a lot less grindy. Players have a massive grind to do on normal play, before they can think about the festival each day. If you missed something from the festival, a quick trip to the AH would sort it for you, but not anymore. Plus, see my earlier post about the legendary servers being here now. Players have more alts on more servers to think about.
I'd also be fine with the once a year thing of years ago, if they reduce the grind to how it was back then to go with it.
Whether we agree on this or not, one thing is pretty evident, the festivals themselves and also the encores, are very popular. They are full of players, from start, right up until the last day. IMO, it would be a shame to waste that opportunity to remain popular with the wider player base, just for the sake of a few.
So, I have not responded to a thread on the forums in a decade. PLEASE add me to the list of folks requesting an encore of the Yule Festival. I *thought* it was standard and was looking on the calendar this morning specifically for the information on when the encore was scheduled.
Thanks for all of your hard work Cordovan.
+1 for Encore. I have 47 characters to grind through on Festival (which I enjoy greatly, don't get me wrong). I can't do all of them every single day because I need to sleep sometime, so the encore greatly reduces my festival stress because I know that if I do miss something on a character, I'll be able to pick it up during Encore.
