Will they change only with patches / downtime? Or do you have the ability to change them at any time?

NM was already answered. Thats what I get for posting before I read the whole thread lol.

For me it sounds like they will probably start without firdt age weapons and rad armor and add them at a later time, probably vol III book 1 or 2. Which would be fine for me for it gives the achievers something to pose with.
But I guess first age weapons might be something you'd rather restrict. So what about the following? Hand out one shot recipes for SMs that require three or four of the great guild marks. Or even better hand out broken first age weapons for SMs. A crafter now requires mirkwood rep to be able to buy a guild recipe that requires three or four greater marks. This would make first ages acquirable completely solo while strictly limiting the access.

VI or EMACS...
VI is the best choice and has been since Multics... Of course I use GVim which only sweetens the pot.

Probably Gift Mathoms, Prized Pies, Dwalin's Pipe, that sort of thing. Stuff you can't get because the quest is not repeatable, but you might be sad that you deleted. This is a great mechanism to handle all of that sort of stuff.

I think this has been the best Skirmish diary yet. I am really excited for the system!

Oh for those who choose emacs since it is easy:

vi is plenty easy once you learn and get use to it.

Im also hoping to see some of the hard-to-find cloak desgins - there's a few really nice ones that are pretty difficult to aquire, so it'd be nice.
Re: Dev Diary Feedback: SoM Skirmishes: Rewards
I'm not sure I'd vote for vi...
But for vim, that's a clear and loud Yay! ;)
Fluxboxed gentoo with conky and aterm ftw!
(oh, and btw... I never ever use :wq, it's too long to type :) I prefer :x )
Re: Dev Diary Feedback: SoM Skirmishes: Rewards
It all depends on the rewards... If they are truly "worth it" then the system will do well if not it will get old real fast.

I stick with :wq as it is easily adapted if I want to save without quitting (:w) or quit without saving changes (:q) without requiring extra thought.
(Yeah I know, odd being lazy while advocating vi(m) but still..lol)
Re: Dev Diary Feedback: SoM Skirmishes: Rewards
I hope you've learned your lesson, ZC!
Bringing up politics, religion, vi/emacs, or The Great Pumpkin is a good way to get a thread with very little actual game feedback!

I can only go from the information I have on hand in game, but all of that information points to yes. Of course its my opinion and speculation, but its founded with in game results, I see now reason why Turbine would change a system that they've pretty well solidified in place with 2+ years of development. If they change now, all the better, but from everything I see in game, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
