My favorite was finding Theoden pacing atop the Hornburg during Helm's Deep.

This might be a bit too far-fetched but ... in South Ithilien there is this bounty quest that sends you to kill an orc captain named Ronkúrz. There is no quest tracker arrow there and I was in a bit of a hurry and wanted to get all thoes bouties done so I googled the name. Found out there is a screenplay writer named Ron Kurz, whose works include some Friday the 13th movies from the 80's, among others.

The dev who wrote that quest wanted to tip his hat to Ron Kurz?
