The Sons of Numenor and the Lonely Mountain Band ride SIDE BY SIDE!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5VxJeemnYA
"raise an ale and bid farewell, with songs to sing and tales to tell..."
This was a great event!
I miscalculated the timezone difference and missed the earlier activities (I was especially keen to meet up at the Brandywine bridge for I had not travelled to the Bree Homestead before and thought it would be nice to go in company). But, upon arriving eventually I found a neighbourhood with Sons of Numenor members around the area, with one nice fellow giving me directions to the house.
Once inside the hall, I enjoyed the shinanigans that went down, enjoyed the music, drinks, riddles and tales. I especially liked the bold hobbit who tried to endorse the new "Mayors law" and the crowds heckling to get him off stage.
The ride to Esteldin was a lot of fun, Celticrocks your video was great. :)
A first social event for me, and will definately not be the last! Well done to all involved!
If only I'd remembered about the ride to Esteldin!! That looks like such fun, I'm sorry I missed it. Great video, Galenswerd.
That was me, fair lady! Glad to have helped. :)
For all those who came out last night, the Sons of Numenor could not have been happier to have you! The event was a total success and we feel grateful to Harperella for allowing us to host. Thank you to everyone who helped out in any capacity - and the video of the Thunder Ride was very good! Hope to see everyone again very soon.
I really must commend Sons of Numenor for their horseback ushers, assorted greeters, and hospitality; for me, it's what gave the event that "something extra". I was profoundly impressed!
No sooner than I zoned in, I was greeted by two Sons of Numenor at the gate; both of whom were gracious and welcoming. I was then escorted to the festival grounds by a horseback usher and, upon arrival, was greeted by yet another Son of Numenor.
I browsed the various hawkers selling their wares, quite a few had very nice things at really reasonable prices! I checked out the stage auction... then I disconnected due to some storm activity here in Texas. D: Fortunately, upon logging back in, yet another Son of Numenor was kind enough to direct me to their Kinhouse for the concert and gathering. It was a bit overwhelming, so many people in one room! I had a hard time keeping up with the stream of chat, emotes, and everything in-between. x_x
At the end of my night, I got to spend some time chatting with a gallant Son of Numenor who made a very nice nightcap of roleplay. I'm only disappointed I couldn't stay longer due to the weather!
Here's to a marvelous experience at A&T, and a big thank you to Sons of Numenor for making the event all the more enjoyable!
Last night was wonderful! The auction, the vendors, the crowds, it was truly amazing! I just wished I had a horse so I could have joined in on the ride to Esteldin. I kept up as long as I could on foot, but lost you guys just outside the Bree Land Homesteads. My little legs don't run so fast.
Galenswerd, great video! It was awesome to see what the ride was like and made me even more sad that I missed it :)
Thank you guys for putting up with my thievery and mischief (pun intended!). I had a great time stealing pies and mathoms and doing IC sparring. You guys are great fun :)
~Lunna
I'm still working on my write up, but you may be curious to know... I counted 131 players last night! I'm pretty sure I got about 90% of the headcount. Truly amazing!

Thanks to the Sons of Numenor for making this a truly memorable experience. Those boys in black look sharp!
--Harperella
Lightning caused more trouble than ever last night, devouring part of Olyver's lovely dress. He got "the bag" after that, and was not seen again.
It was very difficult to follow all the emoting, but it was worth it! :D The Sons of Numenor are a very gallant lot, and I do believe it was the first time that someone has laid their cloak down in the water for Alditha. (Of course, she completely ignored it, but that's just how she is).
I must admit that she was rather taken with the two men who were fist-fighting at the ruined stone gazebo before the show - and has completely forgotten their names. If anyone can give her a lead on those mysterious two, it would be appreciated, I'm sure. ;)
Just to give an idea of the crowd, here are a few more shots from the perspective from a little guard in the corner!

This is what happens when one of the guards is served some ale. Thanks Tinki!

Another shot of the large crowd in the kinhall.

An excellent example of why turning floaty names off was a good idea :P
It was a splendid evening. All of us guys and gals in Sons of Numenor had a blast and I look forward to many more happy and fun Ales and Tales Events. Thank you Lonely Mountain Band and Harpella for you dedication. (And special thanks to Tinki for outstanding service)!
It was my first event as well and I definitely will be back, thanks again Sons of Numenor for your hospitality!
Just watched the video of our ride to Esteldin and we look epic! Thank you Galenswerd Swordsong for preserving a memory that for me will be one of my fondest of my first month on this great server (although there have been many - Landy is awesome!)
Among the amusing anecdotes....
I'm going to dub such escorts "The Lag Express." I truly can see a people having their computer catch fire as the wave of lag and people passed by. We actually had two people crash during the ride. A few laptops also couldn't survive the crowd.
Watch by way of Bondermir (my second account) who I had positioned outside the gates, I saw two members of The Veil leaving. The one commented to the other "I didn't realize there would be so many guards." To which the other replied "Neither did I!"
And Galenswerd, I have to know who did the song on the video, good stuff.
Did I not predict a record turnout? I had estimated by the close of the event inside that Gleowynn, and Cryssi, and I had passed out 300 ales and close to 200 smokes. After much study on the matter, The actual talley was over 400 ales and thereabouts 220 pipeweed passed out! An astounding record! More than double the previous record! A Heartfelt thank you the the "Sons" for access to the chest. They do know how to brew!
Epic it was in all regards! Very polished and done with much enthusiasm. And I loved the ride to Est! have not yet seen the video, so Im going there next. :)
Iskidle : I really like that skin! Can you give me a link to download it?
Check this thread on the SoN forums. It's Azure Glass Mirkwood with some inventory tweaks I edited in. Full instructions, links, and details in the post.
edit: Argh, the lotro forums mess up the URL, copy and paste this: http://sonsofnumenor.com/archet/index.php?option=com_kunena&It emid=56&func=view&catid=41&id= 6610 or try this http://tinyurl.com/38f9j99
Thank you for the fun. I must say that Eo was extremely nervous with all of the guards. Couldn't take two steps without running into one. By the time she had gotten stopped for the third time on the way out, she was about to come unglued. :P
Nice vid and great background music!
Grats for hitting a new record on the crowd. :D
I've got my report filed now here:
Ales and Tales (Sons of Numenor Report)
Also Linett's fine report here:
We might need a bigger venue
See you next week at Little Delving. Don't forget to bring a Mathom!
--Harperella
Your first link takes me to the ride side by side video, Harp.
So, were can I find the location of the next ales & tales? if it is posted somewhere please let me know
Ack, Mum is hopin' it won't be too noisy. Folks maybe can keep quieter around the smial by the bridge.
The first post of this thread retains the links to all relevant info including the LOREBOOK ENTRY: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Ales_and_tales
Hope to see you there!
Well, I think a counterpoint needs to be presented here!
Ales and Tales: A Rebuttal
*laughs* A few friends suggested that I post the tall tale I presented at the last Ales and Tales, so here it is :) I hope those to whom I paid homage with it took it in the way that it was intended! :)
If I had taken the time to fit everyone into the story that I had wanted to, you all would have been rather sore with me, though. I did my best with the line, "I could go on and on, you know. Each person in attendance was a story in their own right". That is woefully inadequate, but I tried! :) I cannot wait to see what you all write today and in the days to come!
One final thought: It is easy to just show up to such events, have our fun, and go on our way. Those who give so much of their time, toiling behind the scenes to make them possible, deserve so much praise! From Keptwise and his band of merry minstrels (whom I have had the wonderful pleasure of sitting in with a few times!), to Lady Ashenwoods, who must never see the light of day with all the brewing of ales she does so that we all do not go thirsty, we owe you all so much!
Is this tonight? and where is it held this week? <bounces>
See Lorebook entry - where all locations & dates are listed. Link in OP
thank you hehe.. i saw the link after i made my post.. but thank you again
Has anyone posted pics from the Little Delving A&T?
I missed it because my family is in town, I thought it would be rude to log on while everyone is here visiting :)
I hope everyone had fun!
~Lunna
I'll have to just post mine without a write-up... But Linett has an excellent write up here.
In the meantime... let the pictures begin!

Ales and Tales is at Wildore Neighborhood on Monday. This week's theme: Music! This is a great chance for Weatherstock bands to give a preview of their upcoming material. Also, EMS will be playing the new Lament for Eorl the young from the Lonely Mountain Band album.
--Harperella
Just a reminder for those wishing to attend.
This week's Ales and Tales will be held in the Wildore Neighborhood located in the BreeLand Homesteads. BreeLand Homesteads can be reached by visiting the South Bree Stable Master and choosing the Bree Homesteads destination. Once you have arrived at the drop off point, merely take the side road on your right to the entrance and when prompted, choose Wildore from the list of Neighborhoods given.
The gathering point for the event will be the Rangers of Tharbad Kin House located at 8 Long Street. To find the Kin House, simply follow the road you find yourself on once you enter the Homestead all the way to the bottom of the Neighborhood and it will place you right in front of the Kin House. The Kin House will be the one located directly left of the Waterfall.
For those that wish to tune their instruments and prepare for the coming performances, we cleared several large areas. Feel free to come early and perform a "sound check", so to speak. There is also a feasting table provided for those that wish to calm their nerves by having a bite to eat or even a pre-performance drink. I would caution against using the Keg located inside the Kin House. It has been known to muddle wits and steal items of clothing.
The Interior of the Kin House will also be open for those that merely wish to sit and converse with a friend before the event in relative quiet. There are several areas inside the Lodge that have been set aside for such things. The Library off the main room is also open for those that wish to get in a bit of a read beforehand as well.
The Pre-Event gathering will begin at 9:45 PM EST for those that wish to arrive early and chat with other attendees before the event begins.
At 10:30 PM EST, those gathered will then proceed to the Wildore Stage area. The event will then officially begin and the music, tales, and drinking will commence.
The Event will last until the last attendee that wishes to contribute has been allowed to perform.
As with all Ales and Tales, the attendance has been great, and we hope to meet or exceed past events attendance records.
The members of the Wildore Neighborhood wishes everyone that will attend a most enjoyable experience and hopes that you will come again to our friendly little corner of Landroval.
So join us for a night of Ales and Tales. And so much more....
I remain,
Tinki was pretty much busy all nite with the ale and pipeweed, but she tells me that, except for certain shenanigans, she really had a good time!
I look forward to my triumphant return to A&T next week and I'm sorry I've missed the last couple events... so much real life has been happening that it's making my head spin! ;)
This week's theme is gothic black in the main room of Tinnudir Keep! Bring plenty of black dye and /mood_solemn as we witness the passing of an age. The Age of Elves is past, the Age of Man is dawning, free to play with the fate of Middle Earth. For all of Arda shall become a place of Men, and the glory of the elder days will pass.
*ponders which black dress to wear*
*gathers Depeche Mode sheet music*
Happening now: http://twitpic.com/1uxlfx
Eep! I keep getting caught up in other things and missing these. Ah well... I can't miss next time... I'm hosting! :o
I posted a report on my adventure making it to Tinnudir as a level 7 for A&T on my.lotro, enjoy!
The Road to Tinnudir:
http://my.lotro.com/einarr/2010/06/0...d-to-tinnudir/
Ales and Tales this week will be held at Randirim Hall!
We are located at 2 Chalk Road, Ewefields, the Shire. Turn right as soon as you enter the town, and you'll be able to see the Hall from there. Information on the facilities may be found here. I will have a keg prepared along with the usual fare, and all animals that may possibly cause damage to the property of guests will be confined to the kitchen (your dress is safe, Olyver).
Join us for a cozy evening of tales and merriment amid a collection of some of the finest texts and scholarly items west of the Misty Mountains!
-Alditha, caretaker of the Library of the Randirim
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_yQK-NCXcMDE/ST...ndirimHall.jpg
Since this week is in the Randirim Hall, much noted for its library, attendees are encouraged to bring poems and tales from literary masters. Great authors such as Tolkien, Keats, Poe, Longfellow, Shakespeare or any others that evoke a feel of Middle Earth are encouraged. Harperella can provide accompaniment on request or try and match you up with one of our musical acts.
--Harperella
Tinki tells me last nights event was particularly jovial! There were several comments about how potent the ale was, seems the barley crop was above average making for better than average ale..... And then there was this poem about a frog....
Hey all! I missed the last few but Sweetpeas wanted to post a few snippets from her scrapbook about the A&T in Little Delving and Wildore. If you wish, see the post on my.lotro @ Kementari's Sanctuary - Ales and Tales.
I always enjoy these RP events and am looking forward to more! Thanks to everyone who pulls this all together.
Cheers!
The next A&T is announced: Under the Stars! http://my.lotro.com/celticrocks/2010...der-the-stars/
Mar Vanwa Tyalieva would like to come and play a couple of special songs in Galenswerd's honor if there is room for us. :)
There's always room for MVT. Just send the host a /tell. This is the way everyone gets on the stage.
--Harperella
I know. Just thought I'd give a heads up. ;)
I put together a little video montage of some Ales and Tales shots:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS8QSM5FCaY
Its my first try at this sort of slideshow using Picasa. Let me know how you like it.
--Harperella
Tinki saw the slideshow! She even can see herself in some of them. She is so excited! She asked me who is playing the harp:)
My apologies. We simply didn't have enough members on last night to perform. :( Hopefully there will be another opportunity soon and that Galenswerd will will be at A&T more often in the future. :)
Tinki tells me it was a wonderful evening. There was a problem with roaming bears on the premises causing havoc and all were stumped by the invasion, until it was noted that her supply of Honeydew ale was the attractant.
Otherwise she reports a rollicking good time!
Nogli had a wonderful time at his first Ales & Tales, hosted in such a fine example of the stonework of old.
Thanks to Tinki for the fine ales
It was a wonderful time. Thank you for holding it.
Next week its time to get lost in the old forest and find Goldberry's Spring! Security will be provided from Adso's camp for visiting low level characters. Feel free to wander your way by any path--via Barrow Downs, Buckland, or Bree-land. Its a wonderful opportunity to RP being lost in the woods, and possibly running into others seeking the same goal.
Stories and songs emphasizing the mystery and ethereal qualities of elves and of Faery are encouraged.
--Harperella
You guys are so awesome.
Does this still take place at 10:30 p.m. EST?
If so, I would like to make a polite, but formal request for at least once a month (i.e., like the 3rd Monday of the month) that it begin at 9:00 (preferred) or 9:30 p.m. EST for those of us who have to get up early for work on the "right" side of the U.S. :D
At this point I have gotten so negligent in showing up to A&T that I'm going to have to come up with some sort of RP reason why I haven't logged in to LotRO for two weeks. ;)
I will be there for sure next monday! As soon as I make a Landroval character of course... :o :)
Sadly, I won't be able to make it to this Ales and Tales. Silly me, I had forgotten that it is also my RL anniversary! So I'll be wining and dining while you are all making merry in the woods. Take lots of screenshots and writeups, because I was dearly looking forward to Goldberry's Spring.
--Harperella
P.S. Now I'll just have to schedule an Ales and Tales at another of my favorite spots...
Some tweeted pics from A&T at Goldberry's Spring: http://twitpic.com/photos/Sub_Creator
I totally didn't fall asleep and miss it... I didn't, I swear! :o
I'll try to come next week.
This week Ales & Tales at Goldberry's Spring was truely amazing. There were around 60 people in attendance!! The music and story telling was excellent as usual. Dovie Harper played for us as we gathered in advance at Adso's camp (you know I love Dovie's performances) and Fionnuala told us of a fine Elvish legend (how can you not love these wonderful stories). As the crowd gathered at Goldberry's Spring, even this backwoods boy stuttered and stammered his way through a tale from Dale.
So sad I missed this one! See you next week at the Plough and Stars... Or maybe I won't--plans are still being formulated for RL adventuring that weekend.
--Harperella
I posted a write up for last night's ales and tales, I had so much fun!!
Just click the link in my signature to visit my my.lotro blog to read all about it :)
~Lunna
Tinki Kicked up her heels all nite long. She had 3 volunteers to pass out the ale and smoke, Baarru, Grebe, and the lovely Arabesque!
Many campfires were started and the dance area was pretty tight what with all the crowd. Goldberry seemed pretty tranquil throughout the event, so that must mean she liked it,..right?
Post-it note is ready, I will be there :)
I was in the Blue Lady's Grotto the other day on an alt and thought to myself what a wonderful place it would be for an Ales and Tales. Lo and behold, the Blue Lady's Grotto is there on the schedule for July 26th! Great minds think alike. ;)
I hope to be there tonight with another tale. :)
I'm so sad I missed last weeks so I'm so excited for The Plough and Stars tonight!
I got there waaaaaaaaaay too early, hehe :)
Wish I could join you tonight but have a stupid School Board Meeting. Bah!
Have fun!
It was great! I'm glad Hireldal could join everyone. :)
Last night was so much fun. I really enjoyed the poems, music, and stories. I also learned to be very careful when betting and to be wary of rich, handsome men....with Aunts. :P
Loved A&T last night at the Plough and Stars!!
I posted the story I told about losing my eye and finding a husband on my My.Lotro blog. I also posted a report on the night's festivities.
Click the My.Lotro link in my signature to visit my blog!
~Lunna
Lunnas story was riveting! I didnt think a happy ending would be possible, but it was! Whew. Tinki will stay single thank you.
Tinki and Baarru worked hard to ensure all had thier ale and smoke.
The proprietor of the inn was furious when he learned Tinki was undercutting his business though. She did some smooth talking and dealing with him and all was affable again. Two delicious Honeybrews can calm mighty storms it seems.
Thanks to Rohanwood, Leanndra, Meribuc, Thodolir for the ales, and Tarenthare and Malornwyn for the smoke!
It seems we are getting 60 plus at each meeting nowadays.
That was one fine story Lunnae shared with us, and the MAJOR work performed by Fionnuala was a serious step up in intensity of music for the event. Now we just need to pay some attention to our future performance spaces so we have just a bit more room for dancing. ;) (can you tell I just learned a whole bunch of new dance steps, lol)
Oh btw Gari, I did set off all or the fireworks you passed on to me, though it was a challenge what with the main event being held indoors. Some got used during the preparty gathering and the rest just outside the entrance as guests left at the end of the event.
I wonder where next week's will be. /think
So sorry I couldn't make it last night! Just got back from a camping trip and had a business trip in the morning. Here's looking at you all next week at the Breeland Fairgrounds!
--Harperella
Glad your back for this one Harp - I will not be available for Ales & Tales this Monday July 12th. I will in NYC watching Dream Theater & Iron Maiden @ MSG. I will be sure to drink an ale for all of you! Ill see if I can tweet a pic or two with my LMB shirt on! lol
OLD WINYARDS!
