PvP Please!!!!!!!!!
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The dueling system - I would really like more PvP action at a lower level. You could win preset prizes in a large tournament held weekly, plus daily quests for just XP. Potions would be great as prizes, as I always to seem to run low on those.
2. PvMP could also be taken down to a more feasible option for lower-level people. Maybe create instances for Freeps of lower-levels and scale down the damage and effects from the Creeps.
Basically, I'm dying for PvP, but there is no way to do it quickly!!!!!!! Only long and drawn-out high-level raids.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A mentoring system would be nice, and there would be more incentive for people to invite friends to play the game. Currently, I would have to start a new alt to join friends, and that is a little annoying.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Festivals - I tend to focus on leveling.
2. Music - Same reason, but I love the concept! I'll do it more when I'm level 65 with more of my characters.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
What systems do you feel could be expanded or revised?
I think both of these are pretty realistic, unlike a lot of the suggestions in this thread.
1.The Inventory System. I would like to be able to sell things directly from my bag, right click items to and from my bank to my bag slots instead of dragging and dropping, and an auto sort functionality where I can set certain bags to hold my crafting items. In addition, all of the skirmish marks/tokens/holiday barter items should be relegated to a currency menu, as they take up a lot of room in my bag slots. Also, make it so crafting tools auto equip. The message "You do not have the right crafting tool equipped." should not pop up as long as I have the right crafting tool in my bags.
2.Refinement to the LFF system. I'd like to see a list of players that are online that are on the same quests as me. You could even integrate it with the quest log, and have it so you can click on one of your quests then click a Search for Fellowship button, and it brings up all the players on that particular quest. From this menu, you could also flag yourself as not interested in a fellowship to support privacy if you just want to solo. Barely anyone uses the LFG system as it is, and I think there are a lot of good ideas that could go into making it a better alternative to spamming the LFF channel.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Nothing. I enjoy all of the gameplay mechanics in the game as they are. I would just like more of everything that we currently have, especially more weapons/armor/crafting recipes/item assets (I keep seeing the same models for different weapons/armor that I had 10 levels ago).
This game grabbed my attention due to all the refinement you guys have put into what's already in the game instead of putting in new things while old things remain broken, and I'd rather you kept up with that mantra instead!
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
To be honest, I don't have much of a problem with this either, but here's the first things that popped in my head...
1. Fishing, if there were more of a reason to do it and it didn't take so long each time you cast your line. Also, when are we getting more hobbies? I know they are hard to think up, but I'd like to see something under the Hobby menu besides Fishing as well.
2. Group questing. You guys took a lot of them out by making SoA soloable... and just as I got a bunch of friends to start playing. I'm glad that there are solo/group versions of the instanced quests now though, but on this topic, you could make the rewards for the group version better than the solo version at least to incentivize doing them the hard way. (I think I read in the last dev diary that you are doing this though, so carry on...)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Q1. Expanded or Revised:
1. A better Leveling system, see- http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=316986
2. Anything ALREADY suggested by "HAYOO" - please hire that guy.
Q2. New Game mechanic:
Fix the existing issues / requests before adding new burdens to the staff.
Q3. Two activities no time for:
1. Skirmishes & for a good reason- I don't like them. Please keep them OPTIONAL & a side issue in the game.
2. PvPM- same as above I don't care for it.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The various and sundry currency systems. Whether you have thought of them this way before, or not, the reputation items are a form of currency. Would love to see you condense the systems so that there are not 3 (or more) unique items to collect (and store until you have enough to use) per area (not to mention all the ones associated with the various seasonal festivals). There is already not enough storage in the game (even including what you can add through housing). Consider a system like skirmish marks. Everything you earn or collect as drops are some common items like the marks, and then you use those to "purchase" or exchange for the marks for a specific area. You can make them bound if you like. Also consider allowing things to stack higher than 100. It would free up more space if stacking was unlimited.
2. Housing should be a true safe zone, but a complete one as well. Consider novice-level (as a minimum, if not superior) crafting facilities in each housing area.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I can think of two: Chemistry as a craft and flying mounts (which would not depart from LOTR's story line).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. When I can fellow with kin members.
2. When I can work with others playing the same classes so that I can learn to play my characters better.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. PvMP would be my first choice, but since I can't, I vote for Housing. Needs to be way more free, the hooks suck and really hurt customisation. I'd introduce many more items, colours, wallpapers, flooring etc, so people can get the houses they want.
2. Crafting. I'd reduce the RNG aspect of it and base it on practice. For example, if you've ever played the tony hawkes games, and grind your board along something, you get a balance meter. Having something like that to craft the pefect item would be amazing.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Collision detection.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP
2. Silly things like chicken play and freeze tag.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Having played almost all the MMORPG games, LOTRO is far and away my favorite in almost every aspect of gaming. In response to question 2, if I could add a game mechanic, one that I enjoyed while playing (the now defunct) Hellgate London...it would be their in-game email system. To send an email all you need do is "right click" where ever you happen to be in the game, and then type the name of the mail recipient. It's as easy as that! Oh, I almost forgot, you can send up to 20 non-stackable or stackable items all at once!!! That would be a very nice addition...since you asked!

Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Hobbies. I would like to see a card game added as a hobby. It has been a long time since fishing was added as the first hobby and LOTRO needs some more.
2. Housing. Have a tile system instead of the hook system for placing objects. Also expand the size of the house. Maybe upgrade the kinship house to a larger size and make the kinship homes a super-deluxe for players.
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A pet raising system for horses. Where you adopt a young colt and raise him/her to be your own. Depending on the training that you give your horse you can make it faster or stronger.
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
This was pretty tough. I spend too much time doing things in LOTRO already as it is, so I can always find enough time to do the things I love about the game!
1.) The 12-man skirmishes. I did it once and it was great fun, but it is hard to find enough people to do the large scale skirmishes. Maybe adding a way to look for other members for this as we have for quests.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Hobbies. Add something else. Anything.
2. Deeds/Virtues completed would go towards all characters. I don't play many alts so not such a big deal for me, but for ppl with 8 characters it is crazy to do the deeds over and over. It would give people more time to stand around and chat in glff, or play skirmishes.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Cross server instances. I don't ever expect it, but it was awesome in another unmentionable game.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Inn league rep needs to be increased. Ale association is fine because you can finish it doing dailies in one or two festivals, but before hedgemaze the inn league took forever.

The levels of the participants might not be equal. Perhaps a level 15 burglar could get information from his class trainer that a meeting is being held in Esteldin. Even if he could get there, he wouldn't have the rep needed to get into the meeting, so he'd pass the quest to a level 31 hunter. The hunter might find out that a ranger is being held prisoner in the Dungeons of Dol Guldur, so he'd pass that information to a level 65 warden. If the warden completed the quest, all three of them would receive level-appropriate rewards. The warden could do all 3 parts alone, but it would be a waste of his time to go running all over the world for this quest.
This is one of the coolest, most original suggestions I've seen which was not oddball or over particular. I'd love to see this. Nicely done!

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
the 3 you excluded are seriously broken and need fixed - the game is dying because if it.
aside from that:
1. skirmishes are booring, repetetive and a major grind to get anything usefull. up the reward rate or up the spice.
2. skirmish pets and npcs need to be recoded to follow your attack strategy. this means - if i'm a hunter and running away from a boss about to wipe me out, then my sage better root that guy or give me control over it. there is no point having a support class in a skrimish if it isn't giving support.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
MOUNTED COMBAT
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Old Instances: The Rift, Helegrod, Carn Dum, Fornost - all are great goup areas but I have no reason to play there. Make them playable by making them scalable to both group size and level AND give some rewards that people WANT - not the junk they have now.
2. FREEP - there is no reason for me to play on my freep in the moors. no rewards whatsoever. give me a reason - armor, pvmp marks tradable for cool stuff, SOMETHING. it is a joke that the pvmp rewards are so undesireable. different horse - big whoop.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised?
1. AGAIN- Housing system. Make it more interactive, less structured. Why do I have to have a "large furniture" item right in the middle of the room - but I can't put it against the wall where I want it? Why are the neighborhoods so far away from the main roads? Wouldn't it make more sense to go through the communities on our way to other locations?
2. Skirmishes - get rid of them. OR make them optional. I hate them. Now they're required on the epic quest line? Gee, thanks...
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Quest Chains- options on quests. Instead of the NPC telling you exactly what to do - give us an option. If the NPC needs to report to Elrond in Rivendell and needs an escort - yet you're supposed to see if there's any trace of Gollum as soon as possible... You have to choose which quest to undertake, and your choice could affect the new quest.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in.
1. Interaction with key characters (Fellowship members), but not like the stupid Legolas Epic quest.
2. Exploration of Middle Earth during the quests. Everything right now is destination - people rush from place to place and don't get to (don't need to) explore the map. Enhance the quests so it encourages more indirect travel in completing quests so more people ride their own mounts instead of taking stable horses and missing out on the lands of Middle Earth.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Conjunctions...it would be nice if each character type affected each of the colored skills differently. Example.....A Champion choosing red will do more damage than a minstral. On the other hand a Minstral choosing green would heal more. Also another color choice would be great, perhaps a dark red for more damage or a dark blue for more power
2.Swift Travel....you guys have done a great job of making awesome landscape I would like ot see it and enjoy it during swift travel. Take away the insta travel and replace it with travel that is twice as fast....it would also give a great sense of the expanse of Middle Earth
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Group Events at Taverns and or campsites that would be done like a conjunction. Each player brings something that they have crafted. Each item is "donated" consumed in the conjunction which gives a SEMI RANDOM timed benefit to all involved. some of the benefits could be a boost to radiance for a short time. Or a boost to might, agility fate will vitality or any combo there of. Defenses could also be boosted against being silenced
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.Raiding....the pay off just does not seem worth the effort
2.Fishing....it is just not relaxing or rewarding

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I would revise housing. Particularly, eliminate the hooks, allow free placement of items. I love the idea of players being able craft/design their house, but at the very least, more housing items and free placement. Oh yes, and please let me add a stable and show off a few horses from my collection.
2.
2.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Scalability is already in the game with skirmishes, but making some of the older raids/instances scale to make them interesting for capped characters to run would be great.
For something totally not in the game yet, grouping mechanic for for instances or fellowships that allows you to find fellowships across different regions of the game, and for instances, possibly porting you to the instance as is done with skirmishes.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
Honestly, I play alot so I feel I have enough time to enjoy what is in the game.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I'd like to see Tanking taken beyond simply holding threat and have more physical mob management control. I hate having mobs run THROUGH me to get to a higher aggro'd target like a HNT burning hot... what's the point of the heavy armour and massive sheild again?? dunno... I guess this is just my fantasy.. but when I'm standing next to the mini in full armour... that little charging orc should really bounce off my shield and land on his butt... shouldn't he? Threat management is good, and is alot about mob control, but what about tanks using their brute force to control room. Picture two (or heaven forbid! three) GRDS linking shield wall to create a 5M impentrable wall, picture that GRD standing in the doorway pushing back waves of mobs trying to enter the room... when too many mobs pile up... a single or multi target shield knock-back to blasts them back into the hallway (think of Boromir holding-back the door in Moria preventing the orcs from entering the room).Knock-downs, knockbacks... I want be able to call out to the warden "Jump on that guy and hold him down!" Why beat on that orc to get aggro off the mini...take that huge shield and knock him over. Picture Tanks pushing mobs into corners. Sure GRDs have a charge skills...but picture that WRD or GRD with a short burst "Gauntlet Run" skill, drilling through a thick mob, knocking opponents aside, to strike that protected Orc Boss in the rear! Picture that group AOE sheild knockback/stun that send everyone BUT your target flying (effectively clearing all those annoying trashmobs away from the boss for a few precious seconds of breathing space & healing)...
Similarly, it would be nice to have skills so there is value in having more than one GRD or WRD in some 6-man runs. Picture a run... a TNK holding back a wave of mobs from the left hallway, a second Tank holding back a mob from the right door. A CHP and BURG dash down the center hall killing mobs and gaining a the prize, while the HNT covers the rear and Healer try to keep everone alive...before the tanks are overwhelmed by brute force and pushed back in the hallways... maybe this is leading to instances where you can't kill everything... it's about holding them off long enough to get a task done...(kill that boss, light that fire, steal that run or battleplan,etc..)
2. Tactical Manuevers: I'm probably dreaming up the world here... but it would be neat to see some kind of tactical manuevers employed by enemy mobs. I guess this builds a little more on phsycially controlling the room. But lets have mobs that flank, use decoy attacks, knock-back charges that drill through to particular players. Bosses that direct minions to attack a particular character first. Mobs that try to draw us into traps... etc. Further more.. this might create a method of teiring up instances (much like skirmishes) or adding randomness to repeatable instances. Enemy bosses could be granted a variety of tactical manuevers that they randomly use, thus changing the battles slightly each time even with the same starting mobs. Higher bosses and higher tiers have more (and harder) tactics at thier disposal. Think of boss mobs holding back reserves (that will do different things depending on how the battle is going.. .ie a sereis of differnt reserve tactics - charge battle, left flank, right flank, attack healer, attack ranged, protect the mob boss, .etc...).. Bosses calling a retreat if thing aren't going well.. Mobs disengaging and repositiong.. etc.. Players desperately trying to adjust to a shift in mob tactics, while trying to shut down the boss from calling new tactical manauevers...
This could also lead to a tactical screen that is available to the group leader. Picture a half screen sized pop-up overhead map that shows with more detail than your mini map, each player and mob, and who is aggro'd on who. Rather than calling out " run to the corner...no!..no!.. the other corner! with the rock!", the leader with the tactical map can place markers on the floor to help direct people. Toggles allow circle overlayes for arrow and tactical ranges, healing stone ranges, boss aura ranges, etc... Skill watches... toggles show how many combat rez's are available to the group (and their cooldowns), CJ's.. etc..
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat and eagles for one-shot long range transportation. Actually, taking eagle ride for a birds eye view of LOTRO middle earth would be awesome! It opens up an interest concept of aerial scouting as well...
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. The older intances. Who runs FG any more? Rift? etc... I'd love to see these instances scaleable and more imporantly given a reason to do again. Perhaps tying these into future LI advancements... The Relic Master learns more about this special marking on your weapons...and off you go...back to revisit Heligrad and look for some new clues to unlock the new mystery (and legacy...) of your item.
2. The Epics Quests. Both of my toons have done a little here...a little there. So the story line is really mixed up and broken for me. I don't have enought time to level yet another toon... but it would be so awesome if I could just "reset" the epic books and run through them from start to finish. I don't need to get the rewards again (99.9% would just be vendored anyways now that I'm 65). But I'd like to run the full storyline back-to-back.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Deeds/Virtues. First off, who wants to go kill 300 of this and 500 of this and find these 10 places? Its an utterably boring grind. Granted they're meant to be done as you go instead of all at once, but in exercise they just turn into mindless grinds to get all Rank 10 + 2 virtues. Secondly, what's the point in getting + 1 and + 2 rank virtues? Those two ranks don't actually change the stat bonuses that I can see. Thirdly, assuming you do something about the mindless grinding of it, at this point, everyone has had Rank 10+ virtues since MoM, if not before.(I joined during MoM, so I don't know how long they've gone to 10+) If Rank 10 + 2 is what you need for Moria, then it is more than enough for Lothlorien and Mirkwood, shouldn't deeds go to 15 or 20 by now?
2. Farming. Its the only craft that requires constant attention. You have to sow, then harvest. All other crafts you say make 100 of this and you're good, in farming you have to drop 5, pick up 5, repeat, repeat till you have 100 crops, then go sort them, then do it again. And all of this takes too long. Plus its easier and equally profitable to sell your poor crops and buy new seeds than sort the poor crops.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Some way to set your horse to auto run to a certain place. Maybe you can set a marker on your map and your horse can run straight to it, and its your fault if you get caught on something or fall and die or something, or maybe a list of cities you have the horse point for, and you can auto set your horse to go there somehow.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP - the rewards aren't worthwhile anymore, and its incredibly off balanced, so I can't spend time there for long and get anything done and enjoy it for extended periods of time.
2. Raids/Fellowship stuff - Its too hard to get a group of players who can complete most instances without scheduling it, which doesn't work for more casual players, and there isn't any early game raiding or fellowship, so by the time people get to it, they don't know how to do it.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. reputation - takes way too long (in my opinion) to reach kindred
2. crafting - a. too much grinding needed, takes away from the game... b. the component levels (wood/ore) are higher than the item levels, by the time you reach the level to get the stuff, you dont need the item anymore
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
parachutes (all you really need is a piece of cloth, maybe some string)
ps. being able to change the mouse pointer's color/size would be very helpful, it's really difficult to find the pointer sometimes... also, character waypoints - being able to put a personal waypoint on your map

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. End-game 6-man instances/raids. With the release of Mirkwood there was one new 12 man raid and one new 6 man raid. This isn't near enough content to keep players entertained or busy for 6+ months till the next expansion.
2. Crafting (specifically armour) has gone from being crucial to pointless. Crafted gear pales in comparison to raid armour and requires players to raid to get decent gear.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Give PvP'ers incentive by granting those who achieve rank 10: +1 AOE hope, rank 11: +2 AOE hope, etc...And for creeps give rank 10: +1 Dread, rank 11: +2 Dread, etc. It would make sense that the greater a player becomes, the more people look up to them and trust them, just like in the books. This would also give freeps a much greater incentive to play in the moors.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raids
2. PvP (too grindy and too much time standing around, not fighting)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing, change it so there is not many housing instances, make it so there is one housing zone (per race) and each of the housing spots in the zone become an "instance". Have each house/kinhouse have it own walled courtyard with one way in. When you enter the courtyard, then you get a list of everyone who lives in that spot and you zone to that persons house. If it is your house, then you just zone in. This will allow everyone to share a housing zone so that we can interact with people instead of a housing instance that is currently empty. All courtyards should allow you to place yard objects anywhere you want to, just limit the number. this should be the same way with items in the house and on the walls. We shoud be able to place anything where we want you can just set guidlines as to what is approriate or not, such as not placing paintings on the ceiling or floor. Put a AH in the housing zone as well, we should be able to conduct all our business. It would also be great if we could quest/buy or make forges/workbenches/bookshelves/etc ..... that are used in crafting and place them in our house so that we can do crafting in out house and store supplies in our house chests. Allow us to buy more house chests. Change the floor plans of sinlge and doulbe houses so they are more practical. Give single and double houses more floor space.
2. Cosmitics, make it so all your bound items can be added to a window (like the shared storage) and perminatly be a part of your character. Also let us be able to dye those items and equipt them in our cosmetic tabs. We should also be able to add any of the regular cosmetic items to that window as well. This will allow us to have all kinds of different looks for when we feel like changing to something else. This system is so under used because it is such a pain to store, dye and equipt new looks. make it easier to store BoP, BoE and regular cosmetic items in a characer tab or new cosmetic window for each character. make it so we can also delete items out of the window. Once a BoP or BoE item gets stored in the cosmetic storage window/tab, then it is nothing more than a bound cosmetic item. This will allow us to delete or sell the BoE and BoP items that are using up bank space, just because we love the look of the piece of gear. Make it so we can also have cosmetic weapons and shields. Plus add the abilitiy/toggle so we can equipt weapons and shields when we are out of combat.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Dynamic dungeons with achievement goals. Make it so any dungeon in the game can have its mobs level set like skirmishes. Then dynamically change its toughness based on the number of players in your party 1 to 12. Make new dungeons that have achiement goals. These achievemnt goals are initiated by a group leader selecting the type of dungeon it is for that layout (ie grand stairs versus crafting halls for example) or selecting a quest from an NPC for that instance. The goal could be kill all mobs in a specified amount of time, rescue NPC ( that is randomly place someone in the dungon) in a specified amount of time, kill the boss, kill the boss in a specific amount of time, kill all the mobs (so you have to find them all), etc .... you get the idea. So when you complete the achievement then you get the reward for doing so. Bottom line is make instance more fun, similar to the SoW dungeon, even though the last fight in that is stupid. Hours of work for possilbe only one coin, very stupid.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. More raiding, stopping gating, there is no need for it. I want more 6 man instances. Moria was great, SoW instances are stupid.
2. PvMP

question 1
excluding, Pvmp, Legendary Items And Radiance Gear, What Systems Do You Feel Could Be Expanded Or Revised? Please List Two And Give A Brief Description Of How You Would Revise/expand Them.
1. I would like to see the loot system get some love. For raids and fellowships when set to Master Looter I would like to see the loot window pop up on every players screen. So that all loot is visible to everyone. The loot window would have two sections, one to display loot and the other for rolls. At the bottom there would be a roll button. After everyone rolls the results are sorted and displayed with your roll and name. The raid leader also gets a start roll button and an open Loot Button. Items from the loot section can be drag and dropped onto the players names in the roll section to distribute the loot. Once all the important items have been distributed the raid leader can press the start roll and then the open loot button. Now players in order of the roll can select one item from the remaining loot.
2. I would like to see cosmetic weapons and a large wardrobe for cosmetic items. Where outfits can be stored long term allowing you to keep your favorite outfits.
question 2
if You Could Add An Entirely New Gameplay Mechanic To Lotro What Would It Be?
I would like to see some items be bind to account. Barter tokens being one.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Adder's thread pertaining to housing is perhaps my favorite of all on these forums. So many ideas here. Even if Turbine slowly began making small implementations of a few of the ideas here, I would feel more appeased. For MoM, Turbine created an alternate website that allowed for player competitions in one-on-one table games. Why aren't these or their kind available in-game within our housing districts or at the pubs? Why can't we have tournaments or functions to get to know our neighbors or entertain our guests? I'd love to have more flexibility in decorating the interior/exterior of my property, and I'd love to be able to develop it.
2. I've already posted a thread pertaining to stable descriptions. Others have as well since then. There is no reason for stable location descriptions at the stable-masters to be so obscure or difficult to locate precisely on the maps. I absolutely HATE this in the game, and become more annoyed as it persists and takes up my time while trying to travel. At least one other person I know personally also feels quite strongly that Turbine's current place descriptions/names are irritatingly difficult.
3. Gear. Increase viable on-level gear options. No more channeling down one single path. SoA did a great job of allowing different gear sets via different factions which had "better" or "worse" stats for different purposes; and SoA made available superior instance sets that were very rewarding to obtain, but neither easy nor mandatory. Many weapon drops were viable options for play. Many jewelry drops also made one think about stat arrangements. Put away channeling, and bring back the opportunity for players to think.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat with tacking and training development options.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)

2. End-game instances.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. housing- to offer larger houses with more rooms to non-kinships (IE players), and to allow free form placement of decorations
2.crafting- i don't like that we have new raw materials every tier of crafting. t1 should use A, B, or C material for the component recipes. t2 should use A+B recipes. t3 should use A+B+C recipes, t4 should use 2A+2B (i think you get the basic drift.) and then there would only be A, B, C, D ore/wood/scholar nodes everywhere, instead of having level restrictions and seemingly rare nodes (like khazad-copper?)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
not sure if this would be considered a mechanic or a system... but i'd like to see a user controlled test dummy. to explain: i talk to a "instructor" to set up a test dummy. i tell the "instructor what level to make the test dummy, (5? 6? 23? 65? 70?) what kind of test dummy (normal, elite, nemesis, etc) and then just let me pound on it with my character. during the "test" a DPS parser would run in real time, and would record the stats in my "combat training" log. (including timestamps) i would even go so far as to have an additional option to have a infinite morale test dummy where the player sets a time limit (30 seconds, 60 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes) for the test, and the DPS takes the entire time into account even if the player doesn't attack for long periods of time.
there could also be a festival event derived from this, whereas hunters could compete against hunters, guardians vs guardians, etc for festival prizes. (possibly similiar to how the horse race is run, so instead of competing against other players, you'd compete against the clock for a specified DPS for your class...)
there could even be leaderboards!

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. I think if you buy a house you should be able to put anything anywhere you want to and not be told only certain items can go in certain places. I mean if I want to have a room full of trophies and stuffed animals I should be able to.
Also a reason to stay in your house would be ideal too. Maybe an exp bonus for the 1st hour or so if you log off in your house and rest there for a few hours.
Plus I would really like to see an option of having a shed,of sorts,in your garden so we could do some crafting at home.
Whilst on the subject of housing why can't we buy a kin house sized house?? They should be suitable for kins but not limited to.
2. Hobbies. Why not have more available hobbies?? Limitless possibilities there.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would like to be able to fire arrows at the monsters chasing me whilst mounted.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
Pointless question unless you can expand time. There's plenty to do in the game whether or not your time is limited.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. I think this message is already loud a clear, but here is how I would fix it: Freeform Placement, larger yards, more item slots, more house models, expandable houses, crafting in the home.
2. Hobbies. More hobby options like artist, scribe, and collector. Perhaps an archaeology hobby.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Henchmen. I've gotten a taste of it with the Skirmish soldiers and I'd love to be able to have a permanent henchman npc at my side.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Exploration. Sadly, exploration is being abandoned in favor of smaller, tighter zones that just don't provide much opportunity (or need) for exploration.
2. Crafting. When I do have time to craft, I have to spend it exchanging materials between alts, logging in and out, making preliminary materials, etc. To many preparatory phases and not enough time to actually craft.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Crafting- take away level limits. Your tools and scrolls you can use should be based on your level as a craftsman not the character level. A level 1 master weaponsmith should be able to use the tier 5 smithing hammer and the tier 5 crit scroll. Lots of players make characters just to master a new craft and only have time to level the craft and not the character. You would also need to make the crafting quests instance based where they could accomodate all levels.
2. Skirmishes- the 2 and 3 man skirmishes are way unbalanced. in Tuckborough for instance with 6 men you get the general and 3 lts, with 3 you get the general and 3 lts, with 2 you get the general and 2 lts, with one you get the general. With 6 it is a tough fight, with 3 it is tougher than 6 and with 2 if you get the wrong kind of lt it is almost impossible. Duos should be a slightly tougher solo not a weakened 3 man.

Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raids/instances - always seems like an unnecessary grind to get where we need to go. I do like the Gauntlet aspect in BG, though. It keeps the clearing aspect very interesting, and pushes players to perform well. Essentially, the better a group/raid performs, the quicker they can get through the gauntlet. It doesn't have anything to do with planned pulls, or requiring CC, or any overwhelming number of NPCs with massive morale. Nor does it include NPC's that have induction-based attacks that slow your progress down enormously, yet cannot even be interrupted (YES I'm looking directly at whoever decided to add the Limfraens on the Lt tier of BG).
2. PvMP - I'd like to enjoy it more, but it seems very grindy and uneventful at times, due to balance issues and number fluctuation.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Combat- Which of course can involve many specifics, but generally, I'm refering to being able to target specific locations for desired damage/wound penalties. The Morale pool could be incorperated with wounds by various location. Morale, of course, would pretty much stay exactly as is...but if wounded enough in either leg or arm, characters would either have their movement and evade ratings reduced due to legs being hurt, or in the case of either arm, suffer penalties to attack/parry/block(if using shield in that hand) for an extended period of time...Head wounds could be very susceptible to stuns or even deal more damage due to being a vital area...same as an arrow to the heart. I've already worked out rather well how this could be done in-game.
2.Character Creation- Some height variation? What about having two slide bars in order to easily manipulate the combination of body Size and physical conditioning, or overall Shape? You can either be big and strong...or big and round. Only other specific in this would be being able to manipulate facial features in much greater detail...I imagine plenty of players are tired of running into numerous other similar race players who look amazing like themselves. This area could use a LOT of work. I'd quickly volunteer to lend a hand since I've also already worked out how this could be done in-game as well ;)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Monster Characters- They have almost nothing to do except for MPvP. Make Monsters have all the same depth as our hero characters. Give them a story line and quests, equipment, cosmetics...as I said, give them ALL the same character depth as our heroes. They deserve it.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
Don't really have an answer for this...as I think that if there is anything anyone wants to do then they should obviously make time for it. Time allocation per activity is a personal choice and should stay that way. If anything, it's realistic.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
number 1
a) I would like to see more done with pipe weed. there only a few anamations, and it is really pointless to know how to grow the rare pipe weeds. I would like to blow a dragon or maybe a fireball, maybe have one that does a random anamation. maybe start a pipe weed faction. then there could be trophys.
B) I would also like to see more done with music, more insturments, maybe revamp the current notes to sound clearer.
C) i know u only said 2 but adding or allowing players to have more pack space would be huge. I always hear players complain about pack space not having enough. I know people that have 16 toons and they are always trading back and fourth just so they can make food for kin members, or getting crafting mats for weapons, we always seem to be out of pack space. always....
I got nothing for your 2nd question
number 3
near the bree festival grounds I always see what looks like a socer field I would like to play that some day. or play tag in other areas like lothlorien, moria, mirkwood.
thanks for reading my thoughts
have a good day.

The wild stuff!
A:
I would like to have the opportunity to have your alt's become your skirmish soldiers. Just an "off the wall" wish...
B:
Crafting stations in the homesteads. Even better, crafting stations that can be placed on your property.
Hobbies!
I would also like to have more hobbies. One idea is "ships in a bottle". You can use a wide variety of existing parts that are in game, and the end result will go on the wall of your home. Higher skill levels will create larger and more elaborate ships.

1; Housing: there is too much to be said here to be in any way brief but ...
- allow placement of items how and where people the players want them, not just on generic hooks check out eq2s housing forums for some amazing things creative players have done to make their places unique
- a wider variety of craftable and reward items for homes particularly for walls
- stable masters at the town centers or by the gates
- alot of housing districts are ghost towns; an overhaul of the ownership/rental systems and/or the addition of some sort of neighbourhood quest system to reward members of active neighbourhoods could make them feel less empty
2; Hobbies: its high time that the hobbies tab had more than the lone entry for fishing! its a quiet and boring tab that at this point should be renamed "from Hobbies" to "Hobby":p heres a few of the better ideas ive seen or heard people talking about that i thought would be brilliant. most of these ideas are not my own although as i present them i may add or omit a few details:
- gardening: turn a patch of your yard into a beautiful garden with harder better stronger faster plants as you rank up. on occasion they may require a rare fertilizer that you must venture out and aquire or buy off some other brave adventurer. every so often a well tended garden will allow the owner to harvest some sort of valueable item from them
- brewing: remove the booze from the chefs and give it some minor effects like removing the dread from defeat or shortening the duration.
- trapper/husbandry: theres all those small furry critters out there in the world that would be perfect for a nice pair of slippers, a fet hat or a wikked pot of stew. they could be caught and "harvested" or escorted home to be put in a stables (sheep, pigs chickens etc) and harvested over time much like gardening
- musician: i know we already have the music system (which, tbh, was the deal clincher when i was debating coming to play lotro in the 1st place!) however an actual mechanic to amuse those who love it as much as i do would be fun! anything from a guitar heroish mini-game to simply adding various buff effects to players in vicinity of a talented musician who is actively playing something would be awesome!
- bard/herald: basicly a gossip ;) someone who goes around and gathers knowledge and news from NPCs like nodes and can trade it to other NPCs for other information or usable stuff (cash, food, crafting supplies, etc) players who become high ranked bards may earn discounts at stables-masters

mentoring: another mechanic that is used in eq2 that was very useful. Allow Uber Player Alice to mentor Noob Player Bob. Alices level drops to match Bobs level. All her skills, armour values, etc scale to the new level and Bob gets a small XP bonus. Alice will still be tougher than your average level xx but it would allow old school to play with new school without taking the fun out of it (read: "i'll come do great barrows with ya! should i bring my 65 LM or the 65 Minstrel?")

1; raiding: my new schedule doesnt give me as much uninterupted blocks of time with which to raid unless the group doesnt object to frequent and somewhat random interuptions! ;) skirmishes are a welcome addition since they are very bite sized and can be pulled off in a single session although, admittedly, i have yet to try a 12man skirmish!
2; lower level content: with all but 2 of my characters at MoM/SoM content i rarely get too see the old SoA content as anything other than a grey wasteland of one-shot kills. those two last character slots i save for eking every last morsel of even con SoA goodness i can get from them and im not above just deleting them at any time just to do it all again!

-I would like to see expanded would be the Rune-keeper sigils we can drop. The healing sigil is good and everything but after the duo skirmishes and having those Dourhand Stormkeepers get a Sigil of Destruction, gave me the idea that maybe normal Rune-keepers could get one that burns foes every few seconds or calls lightning bolts to smite them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Auction House. Whilst this may have looked very neat when first implemented it looks tired now. A well functioning AH interface assists in stoking the economy - simply look what Auctioneer did for WoW.
Basic improvements would be:
- Better search functions
- Revise the posting limits
- Change the posting interface to assist in posting items in multiples (i.e. X stacks of Y size)
- Allow cancellation of an Auction at any point, not just within the first hour
2. Crafting needs an overhaul
- At present it is a resource destruction activity (farm a load of mats, make a load of stuff, vendor said stuff to the NPC hadily positioned next to the crafting facility).
- The underlying problem is that no one seems to need crafted items; i.e. they are not of sufficient "value" against what is available against world drops. Normal crafted items are not worth selling, "crit" items are posted for silly money but often don't sell as they are not really that good.
- A further concern is the landscape at the final level: How do Crafted, Legendary, etc. items play off against each other?
Not sure how to achieve this exactly, but the end point has to be some sort of union of the item streams.
3. Storage
- I know it was supposed to be only two, but I am giving up my "new mechanics" slot below :)
Storage absolutely blows at present. As a new player with a bunch of new toons starting a bunch of crafting (I happen to love crafting just for its own sake, despite the problems mentioned above) the storage is way too low and way too expensive. If the AH functioned effectively then that might relieve the pressure by enabling me to sell some mats I don't need "quite yet" whilst being secure in the knowledge I could buy them back later. The problem is that is not the case, so everything has to be hoarded creating a storage problem. The problem is even worse for my AH mule whom I funnel all my duplicate recipes etc. to for sale on said AH. I would far sooner sell them on the AH for not a lot of cash than vendor them as I prefer them being used by other people but storage caps and a sluggish AH make that very difficult.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
- HOUSING
Redo from scratch the horribly inefficient coding used in housing instances. Create a system without hooks. Allow rent to be payed months ahead of time, up to one year, then, evict people who don't pay upkeep, place all their house items in escrow for up to one year.
It will take a long time but is worth it. People don't play LotRO primarily for RAIDs, gear and Dungeons (otherwise they'd play WoW etc.), they play it for the wonderfully realised world of Middle Earth. Giving players their own special home in Middle Earth is a magical experience that binds them to the game.
- MUSIC
Music is a great sideshow in LotRO, but it can be made much more accessible.
Turn Music into a skill like Fishing. Playing Music for 2 minutes increases your skill by 2 (Twice per Day), you gain 2 points if you play music in an Inn or other musical venue (once per day) and if someone Claps, Cheers, Bows, or any other approving emote while you're playing, you get another 2 points (once per day). Every 10, 50, 100 & 150 points you go up a proficiency, although only Minstrels can reach Master Proficiency. Proficiencies would have the following benefits:
Apprentice: May play the Lute. May learn 10 songs.
Journeyman: May play their other class instruments. May join harmonies. May learn 20 Songs.
Expert: May play songs using non-suggested instruments (Eg: Can play a Horn song on the Lute). May learn 50 Songs.
Master: May learn 100 songs.
Add a Music UI Panel to the Character Screen. It would have a list of all the songs in your songbook, what instruments they're meant for and if they can be played as part of a harmony. If someone in your fellowship plays a song, the details from that song also appear in the Music Panel, as well as the option to join in the harmony if you meet the requirements.
Players can add songs to their songbook either by adding the ABC files to their install folder (as is the case now) or by being taught in game by other players (which just creates the ABC file on their HDD). However, the teacher must be a proficiency higher then the student, with the exception of Minstrels who can teach anyone anything regardless of their proficiency.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
- INSTANCE "HARD MODE"
Give all Instances a Hard Mode that can upgrade the Mobs to Lvl60 & 65 (& 70 when the time comes). Make all instances drop a universal token AND a token unique to that instance. Universal tokens and Instance Tokens are then exchanged for items just like how Skirmish Marks and Campaign Marks are exchanged at skirmish camps.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
- INNS
I never have enough time to go and drink the regional brews to improve my standing with the Inn League. If Inns could have more amenities like games to play that would be great fun. It'd certainly give Kinships some social outlets.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
The cosmetic system should be revised. I think we should be able to have cosmetic weapons.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would like a new combat style involving chain skills, kind of like the guardian parry/block response, but you can move up tiers (minstrel) and branch out into other skills.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1.
Housing. I would like to see a system similar to SWG where housing is located in various areas of the world, not secreted in instances. This would give kinships the ability to locate their housing together. Decoration locations within houses should also be free-form, so the decorator can be creative. I concur that Adder has many other good suggestions.
Cosmetics should be enhanced to create more variations in characters physical appearance.
Question 2.
Not sure
Question 3.
Dungeons are too long to complete for the casual player.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Take a look at making the Auction House more useful to kins. Currently, if someone in the kin says, "Hey, I posted a bunch of crafting mats for cheap", there's no way to easily find them. And since the auctions are so short (2 days is really short), by the time most of the kin-folks hear about it, the auctions have ended without a sale (costing the seller money without benefit to the kin).
2. Traits. The system seems intended to provide some character customization, but it's so limited that it doesn't feel like customization. Virtues are meh, whatever, but where this could really be improved is in class traits. Instead of traits that provide a minor improvement in an existing skill, have more traits that give new skills (like many of the Legendary traits do). Since there's a limited number of slots, you still have to pick and choose what you're going to use, but you have options and choices - your hunter isn't necessarily just like everyone else's hunter. You would have more freedom to develop your own play style, and more flexibility to work within whatever fellowship you happen to run with.

Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Finishing the Epic quests. By late 30s, I'm leveling so fast that I don't even notice I've missed the Epics until they're gray. There's a bunch in Angmar, but they're all clustered around the high-40s to 50 range, and by that time I'm in Eregion and diving into Moria. Finding the time to go back and do them is challenging, since there's no easy and fast way to travel between Moria and Angmar.

Bring the excitment back into treasure drops. Currently everyone has the same (mediocre) armor and you have excluded the weapons from this conversation.
Allow players to gain great exp by grinding elite mobs in a group. This would encourage grouping at lower levels as an alternative to questing.

1.The mapping system it would be nice to have a zoom in /out or more sub maps in a area and maybe be able to tell if something is above or below you in multi level maps like the grate barrows and Morea posable using a R.O.Y.G.B.V. type coloring system the levels above being red and the deepest levels being violet
2.Cosmetic weapons and being able to change the secondary color of armor and clothing
3. put a stable master at the entrance of the homesteads or the shop that quick travels to the nearest town

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Quest rewards - as you are leveling, these were ok, but now, rarely if ever are they useful. By the time I can complete a given quest with a nice reward of armor or weapon, I would have already crafted Crit armor and weapons and in so be using better stuff already (and if i were new and joined a Kin, they will have likely given me such gear for free to help out). So all of these quest rewards are junk. Maybe a Mirk/Loth system where we have the option of a token from each quest we don't want the normal reward from, that we save, then visit a vendor every so often and trade for new equipment.
Crafted gear is very nice, but it'd be nice to have off level stuff to pick up as well. Such as crafting jumps like 22, 25, 28, 32, 37, 41 etc. Perhaps the vendor could have items at 24, 27 30, 35, 39, 43 etc. Or slightly adjust all crafted/reward stuff to 4 or 6 level spreads, alternating every 2 or 3 lvls (crafted 22/26/30 etc., reward 24/28/32 etc). And with different looks. Quest items should offer a different appearance then crafted.
2. Logging out - I understand a 30 sec wait when I'm in 'combat' areas to prevent logging to avoid death. But when I'm in a town, logging should be immediate. I have all of my alts parked in the Scholars Enclave to collect mats for my scholar, and it takes about 30 minutes to log them all in and out to collect mats. it's a real drag. And if I want to craft gear, some issues, I need to make something, send to another, log out, log in, just plain annoying all the waiting. If I'm already in a town, how about a 'switch character' option, and instantly log me out as who i am and in as the one I picked? there's no game play benefit to making me sit around just to log out.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
1. "Crafter" bags -- which can only hold smithing items, or jewelry, or scholar stuff etc. These bags could take up a current inventory slot, and simply be opened as needed. picked up items should be auto dropped into these as we go.
2. Wardrobes for homes -- a container specifically for clothing outfits and spare gear? And when visiting the wardrobe, a "set" function, where I have say a questing outfit, raid outfit, rad outfit etc. I can click a specific set option, and the wardrobe swaps my gear to/from the wardrobe so I'm wearing the set i want.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP - more territory, more reason.
2. Grouping - grouping isn't needed very often, which seems to lead to players being less skilled later on. Offer benefits from grouping. More experience, better rewards, something like that. Also, as others may have mentioned, a Sidekick/mentor type program would be awesome, and could tie into better grouping or getting people more accustomed to grouping. perhaps adjustable instances, in the skirm format, where the purpose is to start at a lower difficulty to learn what to do, then eventually go at normal strength. then once very good at it, could try a more extreme version? Have rewards match difficulty based on lvls of players participating.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. fix dye colors! -- especially white. I've noticed that often times, a color will have a certain look on all gear but different on boots. I have Loth and Mirk leather sets on my hunter, and i love the boots from one of them, in white. Looks sharp. problem is, I had wanted to have Black for pants, chest, helm, and white for gloves, shoulders, boots. But only Boots come out white. Every other part comes out a very dirty white, almost grey. And I've noticed this throughout the game with many colors. As far as I can tell, all colors suffer the same problem on the same pieces of equipment.
I'd guess there is a hue setting, or opacity or some such, that has one value on boots, and a completely different value on the other parts of the same gear set. Someone really needs to look over the color settings and find out what is causing the colors to be wrong, and please fix it so that white comes out WHITE and not grey like it is currently. :)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Aggro meter would be great, just a circular meter that has a slider for each fellowship member. The sliders would move clockwise and c-clockwise as your fellowship members increased decreased in aggro, and you would fill the meter by how much aggro you had, so you would be able to see if your aggro was going higher than the mini's or gaurd's and scale back accordingly.
I know it's taboo, but legendary system. Seriously.
Make virtues usable by all characters on a server. I would much rather kill 500 crebain and unlock a determination rank for every character than have to kill 360 on every alt......kinda makes you not wanna level alts, knowing you have to do all those ****** deeds again......and again........and again.

1. Armor and Weapons crafting - the "You-Know-What" systems killed these already poorly implemented crafting systems.
2. The weapon speed normalization. This was a bad idea. Cooldowns on attacks were not adjusted - leading to skill rotation problems for some classes. If you were ever to implement an updated crafting system where weapons had different qualities, weapon speed is now excluded from that system.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
I would love to see a more rich house decorating ability in the game. I came from Everquest II, and LOTRO pales by comparison in terms of the number of items one can get to decorate and the flexibility of the placement of the items. In EQ2 you can even put items on a table, etc. Right now there isn't a lot of incentive to have a house.
I also would like to see a lot more storage in the game. At the least in the vault and house. Having to pay such high prices for storage seems crazy. I find myself spending a lot of time shuffling crafting mats around from toon to toon to try to find some unused space somewhere.
Also, it would be nice if I could throw something in a bag or chest and have it automatically stack with other items already in there that are the same. I don't like having to play "concentration" looking for a stack of single-use Supreme Woodworker Journal recipes to add another one to.
Thanks for asking!

Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. At the very least, additional hooks would be nice. For a revamp, a free form system like they used in Vanguard would rock. Each house had a limited number of items it could contain, you'd put an object in a rough location, then tweak the x, y, z, roll, pitch, & yaw. You had the ability to place things leaning against a wall or stack things on top of other things such as placing a candle on top of a table.
2. Cosmetic shields and weapons. There are quite a few really wonderful looking shields in the game, yet when you get to the level cap, everyone's looks the same.
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Wallet/currency system for all of those tokens choking inventory space.

Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing.
It just isn't reaching it's full potential. I personally don't like ghost neighborhoods. But my biggest issue is the cumulative penalty fee. I understand the reasoning -- to stop ghost neighborhoods, and perhaps as a punitive measure against those who have quit, but the fee fixes none of those things. At best it penalizes casual active subscribers. The 'interest' on housing does not fix the ghost towns, either-- a lot of these people have quit and don't care if they owe 90% of their house. I'd go back to the fixed fee for active subscribers and lifetimers--perhaps making it higher than it used to be to avoid people taking advantage. For those who have canceled subscriptions, the housing lockout should work as it used to-- within a reasonable amount of time (say two months or so) a forced abandonment of their house with a permanent escrow service for their items. This way they would have no danger to lose their items if they return, just their plot of land. This would cut ghost towns down by a lot, I imagine.
1a) Other changes are obvious and other people have touched on-- moveable hooks is a no brainer. Also, buyable hooks from special housing merchants. Being able to buy extra hooks in various sizes (kind of like the way unlocking chests as you gain levels) would be awesome. The amount of hooks and types would be finite (for example, you could perhaps buy one large rug hook for a standard house, which at the moment I don't understand why it can only have two small rugs, but for a deluxe house you might be able to buy an extra two large rug hooks) and so on.
2a) Another thing I would love to see on housing is the opportunity to chose the a couple of interior layout of houses. The exterior would remain the same. You could visit a housing vendor, whereby--for a fee-- you could chose between three layouts of your home. Upon deciding and paying, your house would be locked for a day while 'workmen' came in and 'redid' the interior. (Basically the server updated from the default style to the new style). The next day, the interior layout would be changed, meanwhile the exterior would stay the same. I think this would make housing much more unique. Maybe following existing templates that are in the game already. I have a deluxe house which I love, but like everyone has said, it seems to lack the ability to be cozy, which is a shame because Great Smials and Bag End does not suffer from that. Instead my house feels vast and empty. Therefore, a choice between a few house plans would help each house be unique and special. There are tons of layouts that already exist in game that, I think you could apply to housing, like Nellie Boskins house, the Cat Lady's house, even the shape of the Combe crafting hall is nice.
2. Will Peartree!. He should be available with all horses year round, or at the very least you should be able to trade any horse provided you have the necessary components, at each festival he appears at, not just that current festival's horse. I feel it's unfair to make people wait a year between trading their horse if they've won the race and have the tokens sitting in their bank... taking up bank space. For a year. Not everyone can afford 4g or 2g nor earn that much within the festival time constraint. Given how vain most of us are, (me included!) I just know there are people pining away for a particular color horse because it 'goes with their character' or whatnot. In 12 months they're probably level 65 and on alts by then, where they'll no longer derive any enjoyment from the festival horse they were trying to win the year before! :(
Oh and teeny addenum! Human women sorely need new hairstyles! Please! I believe they got two (?) new ones when the barbers came out-- and elven males got like six! I know they're elves... but still, yeesh. :D
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Social interactions/events. I feel like there really is no outlet for roleplayers in game, which is a shame because lotr is a roleplayer's dream. I would love to interact more socially with others and not in a PUG setting, and I also really love the inns in lotro, and so would love to spend more time in them. Maybe having a real dance with real people there, (well as real as people with virtual characters can get), or gambling there or something else to gather people. Or perhaps the ability to script macros so that one can put on a play at Methel stage, or the stage in the shire homesteads that people can come and watch. I also wouldn't mind actually interacting with NPCs in that say, emoting towards an NPC /rude might get a retort from them, 'how rude' or such! Some of my fave things in the game are the cute scripted scenes like the proposal hobbit couple in Overhill. I love roleplaying even though I do it rarely and would love the opportunity to personalize my charcters in this way even though I kind of lack ideas on how you guys could implement that.
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Chicken play. It's a bit tedious. I really like the idea and the rewards, but it's so difficult, and long-- and so I never try because I know failing means starting a huge long thing again. I don't know how to make it better. Maybe less repetitive quests? Chicken arenas where you can pvp? Better rewards? Make it a reputation grind? Less tedious events? Maybe like timed chicken obstacle courses or something like horse race. But for chickens. I have no clue.
2. Random events. I heard they exist(ed?) but have never seen one or been able to participate in one. Would love (even scripted) random events. They are so exciting and memorable. Everyone talks about them for weeks when they occur. Oh, in the same vein as my above idea, a random scripted NPC play on methel stage once a year or so would be so awesome. Maybe like a hobbit's rendition of 'There And Back Again' :D Every year the play could be different.
And err... sorry. I lack the ability to be succinct. -.-

Question 1
1. The mail system. Can we send multiple attachments? Can we have an auto-detach option? Mail often takes so long and my box fills up really quickly.
2. the Inventory mechanic that forces me to clear a slot to add something i already have in the inventory. Like i'm turning in a loth quest for silver branches and i already have a pile of them in my bags, but my bags are otherwise full. Sometimes i can vendor beforehand, others i can't.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1.I would like to see housing expanded tremendously. One of my greatest loves of LOTRO is that there is a story to tell. It isn't just battle. It's a world that we've read about and grown up with. Housing is just lame as it is. The elven homes seem ludicrous to me... but set that aside for the moment. The enormous vacant rooms that can't properly be crammed full of belongings is just begging to be changed. Fix housing. I should be able to sell my house, or to sell and buy a bigger house. And make housing relevant. Make me want to spend time there... make the neighborhoods come alive. Right now, they are largely just a place you can store more stuff, and a way to teleport. Breath life into them the way you have with the rest of the world.
2. Hobbies. Add some new hobbies... what about falconry? Or fencing? or archery? pub games of skill where you could wager on games? What about smoking? Gandalf and the hobbits sure enjoyed mastering smoke rings and the like. Again, breath life into the nooks and crannies of the game. It can't all be grind and battle. This stuff matters.
Question 2
Fighting while mounted, and the ability to give someone a lift on your mount. Come on, plenty of people doubled up when they had too. It affected the distance the mount could travel, etc. But it'd be awesome to be able to give a friend a lift, now and again. Along with the mount mechanics, perhaps you need to train your horse? At lower levels, you incur greater penalties when mounted, until your mount is trained sufficiently that you incur no penalty or very low penalty.
Question 3
1. Exploring. I love going new places just to explore them... not looking for battle, but just to enjoy the beautiful and unique world that you have created.
2. More end game content, but due to my limited schedule, I often have trouble finding enough people to fill out a full fellowship. I still haven't completed Vol 1 due to this.

1. Housing. I would love to have the ability to link things together, like having a table and chairs, and to have more places to put things.
2. Traits. I think that the virtues should get a level cap increase and that we should get more class traits.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
PvMP skirmishes, with things like capture the flag, control points, cool stuff like that and shiny rewards. :)

1. The older raids. I really want to do Helegrod and The Rift, but everyone is busy hanging out in Dol Guldur and I've heard that even some of those instances aren't being done anymore.
2.Chickens! I did a few of the chicken quests and had a great time. I'd love to do some more.

Housing
First off, get rid of hooks. Let us put our trophies anywhere and put as many trophies in/around our houses as we can fit. Make 4 categories for items: Ceiling, Wall, Floor, and Yard. Welcome mats and furniture would fall under Floor.
Let us expand our houses and/or buy bigger ones to begin with. We should be able to buy more rooms, a basement, an attic (a ladder up to the attic), and a bigger yard. The more rooms/bigger yard the house has, the more the upkeep costs.
Another thing... for the old raids/instances that rarely get run anymore, I think there should be an alternate way of getting the housing trophies that come from those. Not the new raids and instances, just the old ones that don't get run often. This would include open raids such as Bogbereth and Fergandir (I think that's his name - the guy in Imlad Balchorth).
Set a price (higher for bigger houses, lower for smaller houses). Make it so each week's payment goes toward the payment of the whole house (that's what the set price is). Once we've paid for the house, we don't have to pay rent anymore. Once we fully own the house (don't have to pay rent anymore), allow us to sell the house or put it up for rent (if it's up for rent, we choose whether the renter can eventually buy it or not).
Crowd Control
Get rid of CC pots (or put them on long cooldowns... like 10 minutes).
Make dazes last for full duration on the first application ,then give the dazed a 1-minute immunity to dazes on expiration. Take the current icon from stun pots and put it on the immunity effect (blue dot).
Make roots last for full duration on the first application, then give the rooted a 1-minute immunity to roots on expiration. Make a green dot for the immunity icon.
Make fears last for full duration on the first application, then give the feared a 1-minute immunity to fears on expiration. Make a purple dot for the immunity icon.
Make conjunctions last for full duration on the first application then give the conjunctioned a 1-minute immunity to conjunctions on expiration. Keep the shield icon, but make it stop the stun effect also.
Make stuns last for full duration on the first application, 67% of duration on second application, 33% of duration on third application, then after the third application give the stunned immunity to stuns for 2 minutes. Give 5-second immunity to stuns after the first and second applications (purposely shorter than the current 10-second immunity). Keep the red dot immunity icon.
Lower the immunity from SoP:R to 10 seconds and make it able to remove and stop all forms of CC. Make Snap Out of It, Find Footing, Turn the Tables, and Resilience able to remove all forms of CC and give Snap Out of It 10 seconds of immunity.
Make all brands and insignias usable in combat and make the user immune to all CC. Charge! and CBR should be immune to all CC including CJs.
if a dazed target gets hit with another daze, the daze breaks. Same with roots and fears.
However with CJs, it doesn't affect it at all. With stuns it lowers the duration to the next tier. If hit with another stun on the 3rd stun, it doesn't affect it.
I feel as though crowd control isn't really used for its purpose... to control the crowd. This should fix that (imo) without making it ridiculous like it was before DR.
The reason I have stuns set apart from the other CC is because that's the primary CC used to actually kill people. The other ones (CJ as exception) are used for CC - Crowd Control.

Get rid of spirit stones altogether. Introduce something new: Kill Points (name can be different).
They will work similar to destiny: for every 4 points of infamy/renown gained, 1 kill point will be awarded (destiny is 1 for every 2). These points will be used to buy/trade/barter/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for armor/jewelry/pots/other accessories.
With this system, there are rewards through PvP, not PvE, and there is still the grind to get the items; it's not given at a certain rank. I believe the problem going from SoA to MoM was that there were already quite a few high-ranked individuals who would have only needed to farm the delving a couple times before aquiring enough stones to barter for the new gear, thus they added brilliant stones for another grind. This would solve that issue without it being a seemingly-impossible task. Every time an exansion or update comes out, another grind wouldn't need to be put it, it would already be there. People would just need to kill more enemies to get the new gear.
(I'm not saying I want this anymore, but it's something I suggested a while back that could work and a lot of other people liked it. A lot of people in PvMP like to PvP rather than PvE for their rewards. "I'm here to PvP, not PvE" - many PvPers
A different idea I just had regarding Kill Points: Instead of removing spirit stones and replacing them with kill points, leave the spirit stones in to barter for armor/jewelry/pots/etc. but have the Kill Points be used to buy passive bonuses. Make those passive bonuses expensive and only work in the ettenmoors. You choose what the bonuses could be (not huge bonuses, but small ones), but they could be something like -0.5% incoming ranged/melee/tactical damage, +0.5% ranged/melee/tactical damage, +50 acid/fire/shadow mitigation, etc. (they wouldn't all go together; -incoming ranged damage would be bought separately from -incoming melee damage). There could be 3 tiers of each bonus, with each successive tier costing more kill points. These bonuses would stay through expansions, as they are passive (and each expansion could add another tier).

1.Please please please add a prompt (on the main options menu) when clicking to exit the game that asks: "Are you sure you want to leave LoTRO?" Or: "You will now be leaving the game, if you are sure click continue otherwise click return." I can't count how many time I've left the game accidentally attempting to switch characters. Don't you realize we're a nation of sleep deprived individuals? :D
2.More female hairstyle choices from different braided looks to longer styles (it's enough already with short to medium) with bows, ribbons, flowers etc.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? An inherited trait system. If you get at least one character to say level 50-60 then all other alts on that server will inherit the access to the traits of the main. That way people who DON'T want to re-grind them (me) don't have to but the people who do can do so if they choose. It is limited to the traits that are already attained when the alt is created not any future traits that the main hasn't added.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Exploring new areas. (what new areas?)
2.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1 i'd like to see graphic and audio profiles offered. i have to switch graphic and audio options all the time depending on whether i am doing group instance content or soloing. a quick way to switch between two setups would be very useful.
2 i'd also like to see trait profiles offered. some of the classes i play need to retrait quickly for the role they will play in a group. also, switching between two trait profiles should cost less than retraiting from scratch.
Question 2
i would like to see some new housing features. one idea would be a guestbook. if people who visited your house could sign a guestbook and possibly contribute to social deeds in the process it would be very interesting. another housing feature that would be very useful is a way to summon a guest to your house. it is so inconvenient to have to find the right neighborhood and house in order to visit. a way to bring someone over would mean people might actually see my house.
Question 3
1 i would like to do more pvmp, but i don't get to often and it isn't really a part of any of my other game goals.
2 i would like to see more of the older instances, but some are hard to get groups together for and there isn't much incentive atm for max toons to go in.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The Kinship system: It would be great if Kin leaders could customize both the number and the name of various ranks within the guild, so that there could be room for merit promotions for members who have helped out a guild, but aren't ready or don't want to be officers. Also, Allowing for at least one officer level aside from the founding character who could promote characters to officer would be good, so that either the founder can promote characters from any of their alts, not just the one that signed up as the founder, or so other, trusted officers could be promoted to a positing allowing them to promote others to officers.
2. Housing: Allow players more flexibility in decorating by allowing some alterations of where large or small house or yard items are placed (for example, allow one slot to be used as either large or small, and if that slot is filled with a large, then a different slot would be restricted to just small in order to maintain balance - but that way if someone wanted a large item near their entryway instead of a small one, they could do that.) Also, allow some large wall items to be converted into large furniture items so that the player can place some items in the middle of the floor - perhaps on a carpet or just so the room doesn't end up looking completely empty except for what's around the rims. I know that some 'special items' can be put in the middle of a room, but the only one I've found is the hobbit breakfast, and it'd be nice to have a more options.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A limited form of "sidekicking" where a higher level character can group with a lower level character and temporarily raise that lower level characters stats and ability strength (but not adding any new abilities) so that the lowebie can be useful in combat. Rather than having it just be an automatic thing, though, have it work on a token or relic type system where either the higher or the lower character have to have earned/obtain a relic/token that allows the higher character to magically imbue them with the stat and ability boost (sort of like the elvin rock thingy solo players can get for their Volume I Epics.) This token could be earned through various kinds of game play, lotteries, possibly crafted but needing a rare drop to craft, earned by higher level chars through PvMP (say as a reward for reaching a higher rank,) skirmishes or other such mechanics. The idea would be to make them obtainable enough that people would be willing to try and get them so that they can team with lower level guildies or if they've got an instance group that's one short, they could recruit a lower character and boost them up, but not so easy to get that sidekicking becomes even semi-normal. By allowing ways for both the lower and the higher level character to earn the tokens, higher players who want to be nice can carry a few, and lower players can earn their way onto teams without necessarily costing the higher characters anything, depending on how whomever wants to play.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP - really want to work on this!
2. Larger raid groups

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1. Housing and Neighborhoods... I see that's a big item on the responses so far. I'd love to see Neighborhoods have a little more uniqueness so that maybe the people who live in them could form a community around their "home neighborhood". Another housing suggestion. Please add flats or apartments in the cities: Bree, Michel Delving, Thorin's Hall (at least). That would be cool and maybe a cheap alternative for the mid-level characters. Crafting workshops would be nice (attached to homes... or replacing them).
2. Heads and hair. There's not enough variety and everyone looks like clones. And if you would please give us some real range. I'd like to play a character that's hard on the eye sometime. :-)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Enhanced Immersion Mode. I'm a casual player and a long-term one. My highest character is still below lvl 50. I appreciate the content more than the action usually. Mission stories and arcs that make sense along with amazing environments that I can really feel like I'm immersed within. No joke... most of the time I come to LOTRO for a mini-vacation to unwind from Real Life. It has a special place in my heart for that alone.
Immersion Mode would allow me to disable about half of the interface tools that are provided for player convenience and also that would empower more realistic role-playing for the RPG servers too. Examples: hide most of the chat channels, keep only say and maybe tell. Hide the Radar, the stats, et cetera. I know I can turn off a lot of this stuff myself but it would be convenient and easy if you could give me an "Immersion Mode" like F12 to hide everything.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Everything. I'm a busy person in Real Life. But I still appreciate all you devs and designers do. So I buy everything you sell. :-)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Looks are great, utility is bad. Utility = hooks concept is really awful, enough said; and, why go there? Give us reasons to use the house for other than decorating and a vault and slightly lower prices.
2. Character creation is just poor/seriously dated. Very difficult to make original-looking or good-looking characters. One small example: why do male elves get leaves in their hair and females don't? IMO the mood system just borked the artists ability to give us a good facial creation system; etc. etc. Example: Why can't I make a really old female man lore-master with a hunchback, gnarled fingers and scraggly hair?
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A wallet type system for all festival, barter, reputation and like items to get them out of inventory/vault. Every expansion/new level cap adds to the problem with inventory space. Leaves, feathers, marks, branches, tablets, on and on and on and on and on and on.... my gosh, where to put them all? I applaud your creativity, but ... "Help!!! I'm being smothered by my miscellaneous stuff!"
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Exploring new zones/regions. Mirkwood was pretty small for a purchaseable expansion. Evendim/Forochel type regions are what I'm talking about. Fill in the regions in Eriador that we are missing, etc.
2. Redo all the wonderful older instances to make them repeatable/re-doable at current level, kind of like scalable skirmishes with level-suitable monsters and rewards.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
What systems do you feel could be expanded or revised?
1. The Reputation System. It seems to me that there should be better benefits to earning the rep. Sure, being able to buy some gear is ok, but the gear itself is rarely as good as crafted. How about access to swift travel anywhere in that reps region that has a stable if you are kindred? Reduced costs at the vendors? Skill Maps so that non-hunters/wardens can go back to areas a little easier. Thier needs to be some incentive to completing that grind.
2. Housing. Who wants a house in Thorin's hall anymore? Its so far from anything. A stable with swift-travel network enabled would make housing more attractive. Also, "Family housing". My wife and I have different accounts so we can play together. Why cant we group accounts for housing and get a larger or even kin-sized house for storing stuff we share. More storage in houses would be nice too.
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat. Horse armor, lances, the whole works. But you are probably already working on that for Rohan.
Interactive crafting, and weapons that really can grow with the toon through re-forging and enhancments. Real complexity utilizing all tiers of materials for different "characterisitcs", chance for higher crits in one area based on materials and "mastery points" spent that need to be re-earned by the crafter.
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Weapon Crafting. LIs have made this moot.
2. PvP. The moors is too cyclic as to being attractive to freeps, thus it has huge ups and downs in terms of enjoyability and challenge.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The Captain's Herold needs some 'love' since the skirm solders can get so many cosmetic options, be nice if the Herolds could also take advantage of that. Wouldn't effect the game balance and most of the code probably already in place for the solders.
2. Following the above, be nice is some of the captain specific quests also could be used as places to give the Herolds back stories.

Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Yes, cross hair, type targetting system for special attacks. Something like 'normal' 1st person shooter combat. Usefull for special skill shots for hunters, but also could be used for 'dart' games at festivals .. and hint hint... javelin for future horse combat.

2. PvMP I just can't seem to get into it. I know many love it, but it's just not my style.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Housing
There are so many items that use large furniture hooks it sucks having to choose. Why can't you do like Ultima Online did and have each item take up so many squares of floor space. That way we can put stuff anywhere we want, not just where you think we want it.
I would also suggest adding an armoir or dresser that can hold cosmetic items. Make it about 100 since there are outfits for all seasons now.
I would like to see crafting stations available, even if only for kinship houses.
I would like to see more chests available..I would like chests to take up a large floor slot so we can choose how many to have. I could understand your limiting how many items a house can hold if each neighborhood were not instanced but I think with memory as cheap as it is these days you can afford to make a bigger database for more items.
And since this is a wish list, how about a house for each character instead of each account?
Thanks.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Housing - that was actually what brought me here from Wow. I had housing in Ultima Online and loved it so when you guys got it I was all aboard!
There are a few things I would love to change with how housing works.
1 - No more hooks. Place items where they fit. If I have so much stuff I can't get in that is my problem. I decorate my own house in real life, I don't need your advice on where to hang my stuffed goldfish.
2 - More storage. More chests or just more slots in the existing ones. Charge me a few gold each. I don't care.
3 - House for each character, not account.
4 - Special storage for cosmetic items. Special dresser or closet.
5 - Let me install ALL the wallpapers and music I have and pick from a dropdown to change.
6 - Crafting stations. Even if only in kinship houses. I would even be happy if there was just a crafting station somewhere in the neighborhood!
Bank slots
Why is there such a gap from 30 to 45 before I can buy a bank slot, and then one every 5 lvls to 60?
Bigger Bags!!! - player crafted or rare drops..I don't care just give me bigger bags!
Thanks for the opportunity to finally tell someone my ideas!
PS. Just remembered I would like to see INSTANT LOG OUT if in a city or house...25 seconds is very long when bopping around toon to toon.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1) Expand the Fellowship Manouver feature: Ideas include more variety of FMs, follow on FMs for succes, long FMs that require success in one set first, than an completely different set after to get even more benefits, 12 man FMs, etc. Also include more FM capability in boss fights. FMs are what make fellowships in this game really kick butt. Everyone cheers when a tough FM is completed... give us more to cheer about.
2) Provide the ability to hang items like weapons and armor in your house. I like to be able to take a weapon I will no longer use and hang it on my wall with a note saying what adventures this item took me thru. It could also make a house seem even more unique and special.
Question 2
Native game-based(NOT A WEBSITE) kinship enrichment tools: Our kinship has privately owned website, with raid planner, forum, and everything. Sadly, many people do not like to visit external websites for various reasons, even though the website is a very good and effective from a technical standpoint. People just see the external website as a chore to visit.
A set of tools for internal kinship communcations, knowledge management, and other features to include raid/event scheduling/signup/management would be HUGE for LOTRO and for kinship members.
This set of tools could also include features such as
- DKP management
- Kinship quests (quests established by the kinship leaders for prizes and such)
- Kinship photo albums (to capture game moments and history)
- In game reminders for people for events that are upcoming
Question 3
1) Game events: The seasonal events are fun. More of events like that would be nice even if they are sporatic. Even better, random events that require many players to attend to. Such as an dragon terrorizing Bree. CALLING all players!!! Bree is under attack!! We need every sword who can get here!! Those kind of events can really get everyone excited to play LOTRO to see what will happen next.
2) Complex crafting. I enjoy making stuff for others. But I do wish there were more complex recipes out there that would make players more unique. Rare recipes that were either very good in stats and/or just made the player look incredible.
That's all I have... Hope some of it is useful in your planning.

Question 1:
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing/Kin Houses - Both need to be expanded in both size and workability. Kin houses also need a shared Kin Bank. Please don't spam, but the best system I saw was in WoW. It had both accountability, transparency, and accessibility. Finally, add some kin-related quests which unlock ports to other areas of interest (21st Hall, Loth, Rivendale, ect)
2. Virtues - I believe it's time to finally raise the level to at leave 12 (if not 15) for virtues. They should also be reworked as working through determination and the like can be a pain
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
1. AH - (stolen from a previous post) WTB section in the Auction house. Integrate the AH with the lorebook database. Let people drag an item they want, and potentially set a quantity. A player wishing to sell can click something like "Fill Order", they now will have one hour to craft the item and put it in the auction house. The crafter will receive their pay as soon as the order has been filled.
2. Mentoring - Lots of previous posts, so nothing new there to say that hasn't already been said.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Previous books/dungeons
2. PvMP

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
So should we take this as an admission that Turbine knows that we hate them and they're slated to be fixed, or an admission that Turbine knows that we hate them and any further complaining is pointless because they're here to stay? Clearly these systems are such huge sore points that they overwhelm any other list of problems so it would be nice if something were done about that.
1. Itemization is a system right? The loot sucks any more. In SOA there were items people wanted in nearly every instance:
Carn Dum - Hill Defender, Auger, and of course class quest items.
Barad Guluran - Afraig's Amulet (BOE), Captain's Arm, Bane of Forvengwath, Forvengwath's Despair), Udunion's awesome furniture drop. Also don't forget Karstiona's earring from the little single boss instance next door.
Rift - The set was great, but there were also drops like Textured Gold Necklace (BOE), Jewelled Bell, Wig-Feld, Wanir-men, Lash Fragment, Glorfindel's rings, Haematite Band, Twisted Golden Bracelet, Gilechor, Earring of the Dragon, Threkrand, the list goes on
Helegrod - The set, the turn-ins for Mirdanant, the Bow from Storvagun's quest, Coldbear's axe
Battle Instances - Earring of Certitude (BOE!)!
Ettenmoors - The set was good, Tordram was the best mainhand for Champs for a long time, some of the jewelry was great.
Urugarth - Class quest items, Flightsong (BOE)
Even Fornost had that pocket item people wanted
Not to mention lots of great stuff from crafting, some worthwhile quest items like Phial of Swirling Waters and Cleaver of Barad Durgul.
Now when you look at Moria, there were a lot of useful items in Grand Stair and Watcher, and 1 in Forgotten treasury, 1 in Dark Delving, 2 in Forges, 1 in Fil Gashan, 2 or 3 in Skumfil, 0 in 16th hall, 0 in Turtle, 1 initially in HoC, 1 in HoM, 1 in WW. 2 good and 2-3 ok pieces of jewelry in DN and sets that only a few classes wanted.
In SoM with the exception of Saelchol from the Warg Pens, and that's reaching, and Mirist from BG boss 1, every good item drops from chest 3 or 4 of SG. Even the sets are underwhelming. The Crafted items are underwhelming. The quest items are underwhelming. The only quest reward of any worth is the scroll of empowerment and all this is because you've made all armour and and nearly all weapons completely obsolete except for.. ****, we weren't supposed to talk about LIs or Radiance.
FIX REWARDS.
2. Fellowship Maneuvers need a lot of love after 2 years stuck outside in the cold. If, as theorized, healing FMs are too powerful and break encounters, scale back the healing. Add new FMs. And for the love of god revise the completed FMs list interface. You can't even fit a whole FM on the screen at once!
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Not new but I'd want to do a lot more with the session play system.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Instances, I tend to only have time for one or two SG runs a week because I don't log in far enough ahead of raid time to get one done.
2. Crafting, I seem to only make things as I need them

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. World map dungeons like Goblin Town. The problem i've found in Goblin Town is that it was designed with the idea of having a lot of players in it at the same time, back when the original game was all there was. But now that players have moved on with the higher level cap (and mass there now), nobody is ever around Goblin Town - so it's extremely mobby for soloers and too large physically to seem like it's worth going into. The points of interest are too spread out and if you get unlucky and die, it's a pain to fight through the respawns. The only time i've ever gone in there and enjoyed looking around is going back as a 65 to mop up traits in easy mode. That's pretty sad that it's the only way i'll find the lower level instance pleasant. Instead, it seems like multiple small fortresses on the world map could be made with not too much trash - okay for a soloer to clear - with gates to small maps in them leading into inner sanctums or buildings where there are minibosses. This would be a way to take advantage of the development of the skirmish system to integrate parts of it into the rest of the game. Gate the entry at a certain level so that 65s can't go in and keep killing the thing or kill them for underleveled people and give worthwhile drops to those appropriate level folks who fight in and kill them. Scale the miniboss fights for solo or 2 people possibly using the mechanic from skirmish scaling to do it - the duo or if there were a small fellowship scaling option would open up "better" drop tables. Maybe make each fight repeatable once every 30 minutes. Some things on the map, some daily quest type things, maybe some interesting places to visit, and a few miniboss fights - could be written up as midlevels raiding frontier orc or goblin camps against the front edge of the bad guys' armies, participating in the larger war.
2. The entire bartering system is problematic. There are entirely too many different kinds of currencies floating around and each can only barter for very specific things. They are a burden on storage and tracking - it's like early 19th century bank notes without the counterfeiting problem. One quick fix to eliminate the storage problem at least is to give each player a wallet attached to their inventory. This would eliminate token collecting - instead of issuing a token, increment a value that is tracked in the wallet. The players can see how many of each type of token they have on a list of non-physical items. Bartering tokens for things like skirmish marks could still be done. We already track gold this way, and few if any tokens can be traded between players (just about all bind on acquire) - so there seems little point in making them physical items taking up storage space. Moneychanger NPCs could allow players to barter tokens for tokens, trading the values on their wallet tabs in Forex style ways. Of course it doesn't have to be very complex, but you could have moneychangers in various places - and have NPC traders who say things giving information on what the current exchange rates are in a certain place. The exchange rates and amount being bought (cap it so players can't just min-max the system) could be randomized to change every few hours within certain bands, making it possible for players to eke out small profits by becoming currency runners and communicating with informants observing what the trade scuttlebutt is saying in each town (or just monitoring the moneychangers themselves).
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I'd never seen Hayoo's posts before someone near the start of this thread linked them. I would say the Tavern Revelries concept is very interesting because it is encourages gathering and interaction with a nice incentive system to actually make players want to do it rather than ignore it. http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=86442
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Fishing - The lack of incentives and amount of time it takes always pushes it to the back burner for me.
2. Fellowship Sized Instances - likewise, the amount of time investment required to find a viable fellowship and time to clear an instance is too long for the benefit obtained. The incentive is just not enough to make me feel like it's worth bothering.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Q1:
1. Mounts. Mounted travel should be a viable way to get through all but highly challenging mobs. Sometimes you just want to get somewhere and don't wish to spend a lot of time in combat. Mounts currently tend to drop you into the middle of a battle that may be a mob scene -- you ride through and pick up aggro, then are dismounted and in a fight you maybe never wanted in the first place.
2. Map terrain detail. The mini-map can be deceptive: it appears to show no obstacle to travel into an area, but the terrain is too steep, or there is a tricky path into an area but the mini-map doesn't show it. I'd much rather the mini-map be accurate.
Q2:
1. A totally new system would be flight. You have all the 3D functioning necessary to make flight possible. It would add a whole new dimension (literally) to enjoyment of the game.
Q3:
1. Grouping in any low activity area. Unless there is a high population of players in an area, I figure I will have to solo most everything. It takes too long to go put together a group.
2. Crafting. I often am dependent upon something from the Auctioneer, but often the item just isn't for sale. I tend to not do much crafting because it's too much hassle.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
#2 answer - I would also like to see my/your/ the Houses be more versatile , as in "ablilty to buy more storage", Ability to add more yard, wall, ceiling, floor items " Ability to move the items to locations of my choosing " Ability to upgrade the item size ( small yard to large yard ) .
I would also love to see a supreme master of a craft who owns a home be able to buy or build the needed equipment at his/her home , like a superior forge , or workbench etc .
Adding rooms would also be nice, although i think this option if it happened should cost quit a bit

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1. No Response.
Question 2. Always thought that a "Kin Instance" would be good. For one example ALL of Dol Dinen could be the instance. Kin has to completely clear DD and is timed. Possibly a daily. Fastest kin in the week gets silver and kin-house trophy. Possibly change instance location each month.
Question 3. Always thought that destiny points could be used to 'ghost' your character. So that an area can be explored with immunity. No hostility given or taken. Location names shown but not saved nor credit given to character. Probably has to be level qualified -- maybe 3-5 lvls higher

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
I haven't played a character up high enough to have any of this (I play sporadically, at best), so I can't really say.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I really don't have an idea on this one, either. Sorry.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Crafting - I think it would really help if you could "swap" out chests from the vault for your bags in inventory. Myself and all the folks I know are pretty anal about organizing our materials in the vault, and each chest usually holds items for a specific craft. Just being able to grab that bag and switch it out for another would be a nice time saver, instead of having to pull each item into a bag and swap out other items into vault storage while I craft.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
For Questions 1 & 2 I say the same thing. As a girl player, the clothing/looks options are soooo limited. I mean cosmetic dresses are limited to about 4 designs, with 6 colors each. I want to look unique!
The best way to implement this would be to have cosmetic quests!
Think about it. You want some unusual maiden's skirt, then you have to do an entire set of quests to get it. That could add a whole new dimension to the game, especially for players who enjoy looking different.
Another option would be to have a tailor skill/trade that actually allows players to create clothing of their own design. Maybe they'd have to quest to find beads, straps, and other accesories.
Question 3
Activity wise, I think music is something I never have time to try and fishing seems pointless.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing
2. Ignore list, it's hard to tell who's on my ignore list, if they were spammers or not, that note option came in way too late as my ignore list is full and I have to manually check each name to see if it's a level 1-4 toon and the last time they were on.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Not qualified to answer this as I don't know programing.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Housing, because there's not much to do with it, it's there, it's finite, no flex moving objects, limited amount of objects allowed, both chests are full, need more storage.
2. I DO NOT enjoy deed grinding for the 9th time, it's fun the first couple of times, but gets redundant and very very boring when you're working on alts, and you have to redo Deeds, Legendaries, Relics, Traits, etc.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Loremaster Pet Necklaces:
No one really uses them for the stats... so if we want a fun pet we have to exchange our necklaces once to summon and once to fix our stats. My suggestion to this is make them rather like the key chains we have now. (May I add that I LOVED when implemented that well done!) You could call it a charm bracelet or what ever else you choose. Another plus for this would be getting all the necklaces out of our bags... necklaces that take damage and need repairing.
Also... it's time for a few new ones don't you think? The Sabers could also come in the snow leopard pattern seen in Forochel and the black panther look from Mirkwood. Bog-lurkers could use the snow pattern from Misty Mountains, lookie there 3 easy to do patterns! :)
2. Scholar Crit items:
Currently the scholar crit items do not make sense? You have to use a flake to make a book and another book is the crit which yields you two books.... there is no advantage here what so ever either way you use two recipes and two flakes. Either change the Crit item or give us more books! :D

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised?
1. Expand the social system to include more options for connecting with other players. Idea: add kin alliances. Let kin leaders form alliances with other kins. Create a new social window with tabs that lets you see members of allied kins and new chat options that let you talk to allied kins. This would increase the number of friends one can talk and fellow with. Especially since kins are getting smaller. Allow only kin leaders to change the status of an alliance.
2. Rethink the whole concept of mob levels and leveling in general. The problem is that once a toon has advanced beyond the level of local mobs, entire areas get emptied out. Similarly, areas are gated by the local mob level. This does not really make sense in the "real" world of Middle Earth, or anywhere, and one looses the great feeling of whole areas. Maybe create more varied mob levels, like Sarnur. Or even lower level areas in newer areas. The game is really driven by leveling. Is this really the best way? The problem is that players are driven by levelling mania, then when they max out they loose interest, except for "end game" content, and player attendance plummets until the next expansion. The game can't keep creating higher and higher levels. By Mordor, we'll be what, level 80, 90? That's not fun. We'll be uber toons, with limited challenging content. Frodo was probably level 7 at best, in Mordor. Gating of entire areas using mob levels and leveling should be reconsidered. It could break open the game system.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? Flying. I know, I know, who in LOTR flew? Answer, the eagle mounts for Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam!! Eagle mounts could be an awesome high level rep mount. The eagles were loyal to Gandalf and maybe Radagast. Maybe rep earned for special quests in the service of the wizards could earn you an eagle mount (especially for LMs!!). Or maybe instead of a permanent mount, one could earn a special item for one time Eagle use. See the world from an Eagle's eye point of view. LOTRO is beautiful, a birds-eye view would be awesome. This would add some of the pizzazz to LOTRO that WOW is good at.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in.
1. The wide open spaces. I feel that I take advantage of the fast horse travel or ports too much. Returning players to old areas for quests would be nice. You've done a bit of this.
2. Some of the landmark features, buildings that are visited seldom but are really neat, especially once you move past that level. Maybe you could create skirmishes into more of them, like say Goblin Town, or various parts of Moria, or the Old Forest, or some of the instances that deserve to be revisited.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Loot - What happened to epic loot (orange)? The rewards for accomplishments have been really a hardship. The rate of drops and the quality and the fact that you don't even have epic loot anymore is disarming. In addition, a barter system for epic loot might be a good approach as well to commiserate investment (you've started to go here), but even make more barters for barter items, (id love to exchange my Annuminas barter items for say Moria). I want a reason to raid!
2. Kinships - More ranks, more privileges, better housing, more functionality on the kinship page amd for kin leaders. There is A LOT that can be done. Give us titles/deeds/raid buffs for accomplishments.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Vices - Would love to be able to earn vices, where slotting them have genuine negative effects or require you to do things at intervals to avoid side effects, the benefit to slotting a vice is it may allow you to either increase max rank of a virtue (like you get cap 11 or 12 instead of 10) or get to slot more virtues.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Festivals - sorry I am always trying to get the legendary leveled, or the rare loot drop, or running the kin, etc.
2. New quests/deeds in older content that may have been refreshed etc. I like to try to do everything on one of my toons, but first, hard to keep track of uncompleted material, and 2nd, there's not too much (quantity) to do at end game, but the things to do take a lot of time (aka grind). I miss early content.

There will be no Eagle mounts.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Chat channels. LFF, OOC, RP, Trade, advice should be global. There should be only one regional, all-purpose, channel. We should be able to creat more tabs: kinship, fellowship, raid, group of friends A, group of friends B, etc.
2. Deeds. Get rid of the "kill hundreds of uninteresting mobs for +1 virtue". Do "complete book/instance/arc/something meaningful" instead.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Cross-server instances/pvp. Ok, load must be distributed among several servers because of capacity/balance issues, it is fine for the landscape, but that doesn't apply to instances, and empty pvp areas are useless.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raiding. I'd definitely like to spend mor time participating in. It is tough to get people to raid, make them more accessible/appealing/rewarding, there's a ton of thread about it already.
2. Older quests/instances. People reach level cap without the chance to do most of the content in the game, and it's near impossible to find groups to run older content. Make the difficult level and rewards escalable so more people are interested in it.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The mail system - While the latest upgrades to the mailing system have vastly improved the correct spelling of your intended destination, one thing that has plauged me since I have played LOTRO is that you can only send one item per mail....Perhaps make the limit ten or even five, but one item per mail can get expensive if you are trading crafting items between characters or even kin mates. The shared vault space is awesome but only goes so far, and your kinnies and friends list cannot access that.
2. Fellowship Manouver updates - Being that my main is a burglar, this is a subject near and dear to my heart. for about a year or more now, FM's have tunred into something that I think they were never intended to be. They used to be a treasured tool used by a skilled group of players to benefit thier group in every situation. Now all you see are the obligatory Pure of Heart and Hew The Stone. Ocasionally you will find a group brave enough to attempt Wings of the Windlord, it is very rare. Prehaps revamping the FM system to make them more beneficial to the group or making it imperative to have them in order to defeat certain mobs. Just my two cents.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
1. This topic has been a great one to brain storm over. My suggestion is for a scheduled timetable attack by the forces of the enemy on certain outposts or towns in Middle Earth. I mean can you think of a more realistic addition for the game? Sauron would not sit idley by and wait for us to come to him. As an example I will pick Mirkwood. Say twice a day (real life time) the forces of Sauron will mount an attack on Gathburz. The Free Peoples would have to show up en-masse to repel this attack or suffer the consequences of the attack, i.e. missing npc's (no stable master, healer, barter trader) until such a time that a brave band of adventurers delve deep into Dol Guldur to free the captured NPC's and return them safely to Gathburz. This event could occur in real time (i.e. not an instance) and require the cooperation from multiple raids, fellowships, and all around good people from Middle Earth. It gives great incentive for people playing the game to pay attetnion to what is happening outdside of your normal raids and gear runs in Moria, Mirkwood, or even some of the older instances like Carn Dum or BG. If you dont fight, you lose beneficial npc's. How much would it suck to show up in Emyn Lum and have no vault NPC?!?!? Well next time you had better show up and fight off the Orcs and Wicked Men!
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)

1. PVP
2. Hobbies - I can only handle so much fishing.....plenty of others have said it, perhaps revamp fishing or give us another hobby....perhaps Falconry?
P.S. This is one of the greaatest MMO's that I have ever played, you all do a fantastic job, please don't take any of this as saying that your game is sub standard in anyway! Than you Turbine for keeping Tolkien's vision alive for so many of us that love the world he created!

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1:
~Housing - As many players have mentioned before, the HOUSING system is a great idea to improve on. There are so many things that myself and others would like to put inside our houses but cannot. More hooks would be great, or a system where you could put anything anywhere.
~Horse improvement - Many people when running through an enemy infested area often get knocked off their horse too easily. How about working at or paying for better traits for your horse? Ex. Speed, health, color and other traits so everyone feels like they have a unique horse that expresses them! More gaits (ex. walk, trot, canter, gallop) should be available to keep up with those slower bree starter horses. We who have the faster horse have to continually keep stopping to let the others on the bree starter horse catch up. Maybe giving the horse more personality such as making it misbehave while standing or running would be more interesting. I know the horse does move when hitting the spacebar or after being afk for a while, but how about movements before that and while you are using it? As mentioned before, eagle mounts would be a great idea as well. Maybe not something to be focused on right away, but in the near future. Seeing Middle Earth from the sky would put a new perspective on Turbines AMAZING graphics.
Question 2:
~ Kinship Wars would be an incredible new thing to add (in my opinion). You could compete with friends or "enemies" in an area chosen by the "leader(s)" at the time that are competing in the war. Rules could be set by the leader(s) (ex.number of players, 1 vs. 1, choosing who goes against who, food/no food, buffs/no buffs, healing/no healing etc).
Question 3:
~PVMP - How about a new area to explore for the monsters and the people hunting them? Like me, I'm sure most of the monsters are getting tired from the constant routine of running and fighting in the familar Ettenmoors. Don't do away with the Ettenmoors itself, but maybe opening a new area connected to the Ettenmoors would be smiled upon. I am confident that with this new feature, the Ettenmoors with be crawling with monsters and their enemies in larger numbers, there to explore and fight on the new soil.
~Hobbies - I very rarely see people fishing, and with good knowledge as to why, as I have tried it before. Not that sitting on a cool grassy bank looking out over a crystal lake or pond isn't relaxing, but fishing isn't on my "To Do" list and never crosses my mind. I've tried fishing once and haven't done it again since. It's not the most thrilling feature in this incredible game.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. More flexibility in the housing. I won't belabor the point since it's been well described in mulitple other posts here.
2. Allow the cosmetic gear to retain traits and legacies. This way you could have your "acid defence" outfit, your "fire defence" outfit, and maybe your "morale/power buff" outfit that could be switched out with a click, depending on whether you're fighting the Turtle or the boss in the Forges.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
1. Greater flexibility in creating the character's "look" on the front end. If the characters in LOTRO looked any more alike all the music would be on banjos. The only other MMO I've seen is one my grandchildren play, Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean Online". Compared to LOTRO that game is ages ahead when designing a character's facial features and body shape. Check it out and you'll instantly see what I mean. While I'm not a programmer it still seems to me that once a character's face is created it's only going to take up the same amount of pixels as any other, so only the creation routine would have to be tweaked.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. One of the posts mentioned having a reason to hang out in the Inns. It's not that I don't have enough time for it ... I spend as many hours in LOTRO as I do at my full time job. But I liked the idea of there being some kind of draw that would encourage folks to visit Inns more often. You guys created a tag game south of the Bree fairgrounds ... take that kind of inspiration and put some kind of games in the Inns.
2. I often hesitate to join the really long raids because, even with the amount of time I spend in the game (see 3.1 above) it's not always convenient committing to several hours of uninterrupted play.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
The introduction of a crafting bag to help with pack space management. The way it would work, players could purchase basic supplies, ie spices, uncooked chicken, cutlery blades etc, from a vendor. The items would be bound so players would have to be careful how much they purchased. Enabling this feature only at the vendor should eliminate items dropping from mobs or found on the landscape. All items made from basic supplies including sub ingredients of end items ie waybread would be placed into regular inventory, making the items available for trade or sale.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing - As many have said remove the hooks and if items are going to stay BoA maybe put some chests in the house that only I can use, so I can store the items for my house there and not my main inventory. Please check out EQ2, they have the best housing system I have seen, of course I have not seen them all.
2. Can we please get speed buffs to stack, why everyone has to run the same speed in this game I will never know. I understand at lower lvls you like to make players “experience” the areas, but with 6 lvl 65 characters, it’s not so much fun.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new game play mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Not sure of a new mechanic, when there are so many old ones that could be improved. Inventory - WE NEED MORE SPACE. Housing - see above. Resistance gear - I don't even know if resistances work in this game, I know in EQ it was imperative. Deed upgrades - you keep adding ways to improve them; they just seem to be stuck at 10 ;-).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Festivals
2. Please add ways to lvl legendary items faster. At player lvl 65, it is obnoxious trying to lvl 65 items.
All those items aside. I love the skirmishes, raids, crafting, and LI you have implemented

1. Housing, as many have expressed their same wish before. More hooks and/or freely positionable hooks. I want to see hobbit holes stuffed with many items and furniture, cozy homes that tell stories by themselves about past adventures and memories of the owner.
2. Hobbies - not only to come up with new ones (I like previous suggestions of board/dice/card games) but also to give more meaning to fishig, i.e. food that need some rare type of fish. People would go fishing more often then (I haven't seen anyone fishing in the game for ages!)...

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
1)I would also like to vote that HOUSING be the #1 area to revamp. This should also include Kinship housing and the layout of housing neighborhoods.
I would revise the housing system to use existing "doors" in Bree (for example) that would take you to a housing area. These could be small or large. The same could be done with Kinship houses. Alternatively housing neighborhoods would be based around ONE Kinship's Hall. Each area could then have lesser houses for each Kinship member. Abandoned houses need to be removed and simply be recycled after a certain time. Nothing worse than seeing unpaid houses week after week.
2) Crafting - Please add in the missing class slot items to crafting. Guardians, minstrels and lore master are left out of using this slot until LIs? This would be a simple thing. Also a revamp of how many insane items there are for lore master to change their pets. It is just too many...and why one for EACH animal? These items should be more akin to the captains armaments. And why has no one ever fixed pet food? It should be simply pet food, not only for bears. Logic and balance please in craftin!!!
1) Fix the issue of NOT being able to complete quests or deeds in RAIDS!!!
1) Crafting - love it and cant get enought.
2) Non combat options - Festivals, Chicken play, etc

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing! There are a lot of issues with housing: furniture creation, realistic layout and access logs for boxes. I'd also like to see the ability to build your own houses. They had this system in horizons and it was awesome. It was great for community building.
2. Storage! It would be nice to be able to buy larger bags, some made by tailors (so they'd actually have something useful at end game). I'd love to see kinship storage revamped so you don't have to go to the house to access kin storage.
3. I'd like to see some of the older areas revamped. I love what you guys did with lone lands. It would be great to see a revamp like that for north downs. My husband and I had such a great time playing the lone lands only to arrive at the same old north downs we've now done 4 times.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Crafted building projects. In horizons, there were bridges we had to fix and towns to rebuild. This really brought the community together. We had people gathering resources, groups of people protecting them as they gathered and others processing and transporting those resources to the building site. While there were some people who solo'd in the game, most people on the server contributed in some way to the project. It was awesome to see all these people come together to help. The other cool thing was that there were resources needed from all tiers so everyone could help on the project. Horizons used those building projects to open up new areas or enable story lines. I really loved that aspect of the game.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
.Sorry this isn't in your requested format, but this is my 2 cents on the last few series of questions....
.
The biggest source of frustration is how all MMORGs try to extend content beyond it's inherent worth more and more as time goes on. Many come here from single-player games where there is NO repeated content (grinding). (No one would buy Dragon Age if you had to do each little instance 20 times to finally "not die" or get something or progress.)
This is because the devs set everything...difficulty (requiring lots of "practice" to finally win),and/or amount of repeated content (tokens) and/or "gates" to content and/or deeds and such....all for the purpose of keeping the hardcore (extreme) busy.
This results in eventually having an overwhelming amount of grinding in front of normal players and the hardcore bored with repeating everything to get enough tokens or whatever.
Solution is to slow down the hardcore so less grinding is needed overall and you have a little more time to produce enough content. Sorta like forcing them to spread out their interests to other parts of the game or play alts.
One answer would be to have ALL experience (or any cumulative advancement system) a part of the "rested" system..... and I do mean everything, even quest experience and item experience.
This way you force the extreme to vary their focus or play alts or do festivals or accept it taking twice as long to progress without piling all that grinding on everybody.
----------------------------------
Another thing is to have the industry quit using limited resources as an excuse for over-extending content. It should be that the box prices and the monthly fees should be adjusted to pay for ample resources to allow devs to concentrate on providing enough fun for normal players....not requiring riding every bit of content until it is past dead to keep folks "busy".
Let the devs go back to designing everything for the fun factor...like they do BEFORE launch...everybody loves the first few months.....and not bleeding all the fun out of added content by overextending it.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.) Housing. The Housing system in LotRO has been my biggest disappointment of all the game features. As I mentioned years ago... a Housing System that functions very closely to EverQuest 2 would be much more of what I was looking for...and that includes...
.....A.} Player Housing APARTMENTS in the Starter Towns just like in EQ2 in addition to the current Neighborhood housing Areas.
.....B.} Player Crafted Chests (storage) as Furniture along with many more furniture items player crafted AND PLEASE a sytem to place items in a Player House without the "Hook" system that is artificial and does not allow us to arrange our homes in a manner that "looks" like a home should. It is a House, a building, I should most definately be able to put more items in my own Player House than in any Vault anywhere in Middle Earth.
I want to get rid of my "vault alts" please and thank you. Make changes to Housing to allow us to not need so many alts for storage.
2.) Costs of owning a Player Home. Seriously when it comes to Player housing this is a game, not a second job... normal gameplay is my job in LotRO. We should be able to feel like we are living in Middle Earth without the real life pain I feel in my wallet when the mortgage is due. Housing purchase costs are out of line in my opinion and always have been (Horses cost too much as well imho). We Players have much more important things to spend our money on, such as saving up for good gear or for the "entry fee" to get good gear... you know to what I am referring to here I think. No I never bought my way into a FS just so I could get radiant gear and such... as I could never afford the costs anyways, but I know Players who have because they felt they had to.
Example... My main is a level 64 (yes I know I will take forever to max) and I have NEVER had more than 1 gold in his wallet until he was over level 55 except for one time... when a friend ingame lent me the gold to purchase a home. Some Players can make alot of money, some can not. Personally I hate money of all types and kinds and would prefer to earn my house through questing than having to buy it, but I know that won't happen.
Just trying to be honest, no offense to anyone else intended.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Changes to Housing, as I have suggested above, would definately be a new gameplay mechanic.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
I seriously cannot answer this one. It takes over 100% of the time I can spend ingame just to *attempt* to keep up with other Players in XP and levels, quests completed, etc. I have no time for anything else but "normal" gameplay ingame and I have less than 100% of the time to do it in.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Cosmetic Slots on Character Tab - I think it'd be great to have cosmetic shields and/or weapons. I'm mostly interested in the shield tab however, I hate losing nice looking shields for ragged looking ones just because the stats are better.
2. Equippable Slots - I think it'd be nice to have an extra slot added in for a musical instrument. LotR being so musical, it'd be nice to have to have the instrument taking up bagspace, though it's only one slot.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Another hobby. We've already got Fishing, why not Hunting? We've already got all the non-volatile wildlife there, I think it'd be an interesting addition.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Seasonal festivals
2. Roleplaying

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Opening Bags: At the vault, it's a hassle to open my vault, all of my extra chests, all of my bags, and the shared storage all at once. It takes several clicks and buttons. Perhaps you could do the work for us. When I click on the vault-keeper, open all of these things up all at once. When I click on an auctioneer, open up all of my bags at the same time.
2. Buff & Debuff Icons: It's difficult to read these in battle. They're not organized other than to separate debuffs from buffs, they keep moving, and it's difficult to know when a buff is going to expire. For instance, if my Guard wants to know if Guardian's Ward (GW) took effect or is about to expire, I must hunt for its icon amongst a dozen others and hover the mouse over it - while it's moving - to determine how much time is left. Four suggestions...
Movement: Once an icon appears, keep it in the same place until it expires or combat ends. Don't move it to the left if a preceding icon disappears. And add new icons to its right, rather than push existing icons to the right. When an icon disappears then reappears, have it do so in the same spot.
Organization: Make a distinction between long-term and short-term buffs, allowing one row for each, and giving the option to hide long-term buffs during combat. Also, consider having a special mechanic for class-specific buffs. For instance, for the Guard, the first slot in the class-specific row is reserved for GW, the second for a block reaction, and the third for a parry reaction. Reactions further down a chain would appear right next to or below the initial block or parry reaction icon. By having these icons in one consistent location, I can tell at a glance what my options are. You could do something similar for Minstrel ballad tiers and the like.
Duration: I'd rather not have to mouse over a moving icon to see how much time is left. Instead, list the number of seconds left before expiration under each icon (such as they do in <gag> World of Warcraft). Alternatively, have icons fade to nothing starting at 10 seconds (rather than flashing).
Non-Combat Buffs: It's difficult to stay on top of non-combat buffs, since they all have different durations. Every few minutes, I have to check to see which ones have expired, and how much time I have on those remaining. I look at the icons... let me think... which ones are missing? If this added to the richness of the gaming experience, I wouldn't mind, but instead, it's just annoying. Instead, consider:
* Make them all the same duration (e.g., 30 min. for all foods, pet foods, shield spikes, scrolls, tokens, lute strings, chants, fire oils, etc.) so you can rebuff everything at once
* Have a mechanic similar to that described for classes (e.g., in long-term buff row, the food icon is always first, trail food second, etc.)
* Minimize clutter by reducing the number of icons needed (e.g., one icon for food instead of three)
* Create a long-term buff "bag." 20 seconds of eating & drinking activates all of these buffs at once.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat! You know, nothing complicated ;-)
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Smoking pipeweed. Doesn't seem to be much reason to do this.
2.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing - As previously stated there are great suggestions in the forums. But, I would like to add that there is an immediate need for a change for Non-Paid housing. The number of non-paid yet "sold" houses in many neighborhoods....(all of the neighborhoods I have checked on firefoot and it is many in each district) is 3 - 4 times greater than the number of accessible Up-keptt"housess which are sold. This impacts Kins by not having any ability to have housing turn over and new kin-mates enter the neighborhood. It limits players in general in that in the "not new" neighborhood there are almost no large houses available. Simple solution. Evict non-payees. If you want to allow them to retain the investment there are options 1) move them to a temporary housing area 2) evict them and give them a housing voucher for a new house when the pay 3) Allow players to sell their houses and move out of "unkept" neighborhoods into new empty ones (including kinship houses). Oh...and the hook system is so unmanageable.
2. Leveling is too fast...experience comes too quickly. I'd like to see the experience system either put back to the way it was in the beginning or changed so that a player could have a conversion to something else on a chosen percentage basis (destiny points, item XP, increase in skirmish marks percentage...). Right now the experience is generated so fast that whole zones are skipped. The big instances don't need to be run at all, and many player just skip the books completely. There seems to be a lot of effort being made in making the lower content fresh and interesting (which it is)...please give those of us who want to go through all of it the opportunity to do it as we are leveling and not when we're far beyond the quest level.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new game-play mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
All of my ideas basically revolve around making the game more complex...like it was. Make the combat system more detailed and flexible or do the same to the character skill/trait system. I know that doesn't seem like a new mechanic on the outside. But a system that is truly flexible and responsive clearly isn't something the current mechanics can handle...or the past changes which reduced the complexity would not have made for the supposed increase in "responsiveness".
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP for various reasons but primarily because it doesn't have any real LOR feel or connection. It seems very isolated.
2. Chicken play. There does seem to be some connection in chicken play to the LOR mythos..but just can't seem to find the time? And why are the squirrels fighting?

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Slayer Deeds: i have stopped leveling various toons due to the amount of slayer deeds expect us tol kill. I find it very time consuming, isolating and redundant. Perhaps there could be a better way to achieve slayer deeds. For example either make them smaller or make it quest appropriate. EX- to achieve lvl 10 in all deeds you must complete all 6 radiance instances in moria (just a thought).
2. Legendary weapons: I have spent grave amounts of time grinding for weapons, relics and legacies that i like. I understand that it may be alot of work to make a system that always players full autonomy on all levels of building a weapon but a list of various legacies to pic from when reforging and some relics lvl appropriate to the weapon every time we decon would be nice. Also, (with the risk of being a bit too specific here) please for the love of God, give guardians a legendary shield! I cant believe that we get a belt to built up. I mean why not make the belt a regular part of armour, perhaps add some stackable radiance to it seing as the tank is always taking the punishment and give us a nice legendary system to built up our shields (keep in mind I PvE alot with my tank so im very much fellowship oriented in thought).

Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I dont have much experience with other MMO's. I'm a LOTRO phanatic. so i dont know what the other games are like. That being said, I find some of the aspects of comb at to leave some things to be desired. It is hard for me to describe what i mean but in general, some inductions are too long, some damage is not proportional or appropriate to levels, i believe mitigations/bonus/penalties and combat stats need to be re-examined to allow for more variations. So if your talking about an overhaul on some mechanic and alot of work to boot i think this should be one of the considerations (again, im a PvE maniac so i dont know if this applies to PvP ).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Dont have enough time for crafting

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The interface, especially in regards to effect displays - as there are often too many and they can crowd your fellowship panel and even hide hp bars, making it difficult to heal. Players need the option to see only the effects cast by them while being able to see dispellable effects at the same time. That way, as a captain, I could turn off buffs cast by other players while still being able to see fear effects on my fellowship so I can muster courage.
2. Pet Classes. Although fun, there is a lot of pathing issues and your pet frequently gets stuck on poles, fences, walls, trees, ect. It's a real problem and even discourages me from doing some skirmishes. Be nice if this system was improved.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I'd really like to be able to take my Skirmish Solider out into the real world. That would be cool. Turbine has some real potential there, and I wish they would expand on the concept.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. None
2. None

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Don't revamp it, redesign it. There have been so many great housing ideas developed in other games that it doesn't necessarily needed to be re-invented - it does, however, need to be changed! The current hook system is far too limiting. My house and kin hall haven't changed since we set them up because there really isn't much we can do.
2. Did I mention housing? :p
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Stables, packs, decorations, etc for our horses, as a part of the housing area.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Music. I'd like to see that expanded into ways we can get together as a community to listen to music. Like the gathering areas in the neighborhoods - unless a kinship or group create a way to use those areas, they stand blank and lifeless.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question #1
-I'd like the levelling scheme shortened greatly.I feel the game take too long to level. The best way to expand this is to allow players to use the Destiny Point exp buff more often(even if it cost more DP's.)That way you both shorten the grind and encourage PvMP at the same time.
-I'd like to be a large group bonus of experience. The larger the group the bigger the bonus. This will encourage people to group more often.
Question #2
-I'd like to see a "pet" system that many of the smaller MMO's have.Essentially it's a small pet that you choose, follows you around and provides a small bonus( ie extra inventory, minor buff). You can level your pet and upgrade it's abilities/appearance,even try to find rare and elite pets to show off with.Buying and selling of those pets would be nice too,to create a little more player economy.
Question #3
-Crafting.The workshops are often far away from the quest areas(especially farming) and getting materials can be a pain.
Summary--The MMO industry has gone through many changes. You cannot expect players to grind as long as they did in the past, because every few months the "Next Big Thing" arrives and they flock over to try it out.MMO's nowadays have to be a lot more casual friendly, and have to have better and more accessable end-game to compete. If players can't hit end-game soon enough(or if end-game is not well done) you risk losing them when the "Next Big Thing" arrives.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
As a returning player, a few reasons make me "walk away" each time..
Question 1
1. Book Sessions:
While it is understandable many people beleive that these should be "group only" content, I argue that the day's of constant MMO grouping is behind us. As people get older and their lives get more busy. Their times are less and less. You want to retain players, Make your game soloable period.
2. Ehanced Solo play:
This was attempted to be rectified with a recent addition of adding an npc to your party. While it helps, it's not the solution. Nor did this even bring me back to the game. What did was friends who are now playing. Now thou, that I have played again, I see the need for full npc parties. Again I have no doubt others will hate this idea, but I am sorry I don't have the time to group even with my friends as much as I like too. But to keep up with their schedual, if I where to be able to continue my adventures and group with them when I can and at least keep pace by soloing when I cannot. This would be a HUGE leap forward.
Question 2
Story Teller: A excellent excample of this is seen in the (probably to close) game called Starwars Galaxies, while at the time this implmentation was done the game was on the downfall. Many as myself stayed for months just to make stories. However allot of those mechanics while good, could have been better. Want more details? write me an email, contact me and I would happy to give you all my thoughts on it, sign a disclosure and help you make it the best. Yes, I have design experiance.
Question 3
1. Refer to question one: The BIGGEST thing this game is about is the book chapters, the main story that is so emphised, but also so seclueded to those that only have a vast network of friends to which they can accomplish these book chapters. This needs to be changed asap.
2. Details : sadly there is so much this game has to offer, but so little information to get you there or too much. I would love to see a window that list things I haven't done,. or even know where to begin. For instance, coming back, I know of heard of and yet have to understand where I go to do legendary items. I have yet to understand many of the new things in this game at level 51 that I probably should know. I left once before because of the information being shown only once and no more referance to it so I forgot, or to less information on how to get to , or whom to talk too to continue. This along with the books being soloable would keep me here for the long run.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I feel there could be more done with the combat animations. It's not that the current ones are bad, but they are stiff, homogeneous, and generally uninteresting, except for the "caster" classes. Some variations in special move animations would be the most welcome revision on this matter. My main is champion and blade wall doesn't look it would actually hurt anyone with lack of luster and force that would be behind the blow without any body weight shift or follow through. Defensive strike for captains looks like they're too tired to actually do any real attack and just poke lightly with a huge two-hander instead. And this brings me to the question of stances; they are a buff and I get that, but it would VERY cool and help further immersion if these would actually alter your characters combat stance physically.
For example, a guardian in threat stance could stand in a strong, proud, threatening posture and do wide and furious looking strikes and skills, as opposed to hiding behind his shield in block stance or keeping his weapon at the ready in front of him in parry stance.
The champion in Fervor could have the largest, reckless swings and idle combat stance would be a feet-far-apart, body tense in an angry and furious position with arms at sides and weapons sticking forward, as opposed to the Ardor champion who is keeping his blades in a ready and offensive position (forward and/or to the sides) but less aggressive and with more subtle blows.
This is all technically cosmetic, I know, but it would make combat more interesting to watch without bogging down visual processing and would really make the player feel much more immersed in the realistic-feeling combat.
Oh, and making different striking animations for axes and clubs and maces versus swords and daggers and spears would also be a great enhancement; it's just bizarre to stab with the top of an axe or mace... different animations for hacking/bludgeoning versus stabbing/slicing.
2. Upon reading the other suggestions, I would agree that the housing decor system is over-stiff and feels more like a vault for random items than an actual residence. This could be relieved by either denser and more sensible placement of hooks, conditional hooks based on what item is in the master hook (if a table, chair hooks appear; if a short dresser, a painting or trophy hook overhead; a trophy hook on fireplaces; etc), or whole item sets replacing the individual items (though this would be a more difficult and probably less convincing solution). Also more light from windows during the day would be nice. Fake windows that appear to have the surrounding area outside (but without any actual players; a panorama if you will) so the house interiors feel less like a box in the void and more like an actual part of the environment. Some practical housing items like using a bed to remove dread, gain well-rested, using a dresser as a cosmetic item chest, and crafting items (ovens, farmland outside, anvil and forge behind the house, study inside, etc) would also GREATLY increase housing usage and practicality.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Cosmetic Traits; some of these racial, some of these class-based, some both. Here is a small list of examples that will best capture what I mean by this:
-Elf champions/guardians (and maybe hunters) start with the "Elvish Combat Training" trait, making their combat animations more flowing, elegant, flourishing, and just "elvish" in general; other melee players of other races could later do a quest or deed or training to gain this trait that would allow them equip it. There would respective ones for each race; Combat of Men (bold and direct; I think hobbits would start with this one too), and Dwarven Combat Training (bold and direct, but more intense and less martial than men).
-Loremaster pet substitutions that don't change the skills/effects. Your bear changes to a large wolf but has the same abilities. Your raven becomes a bluejay or robin or gull. Your eagle becomes an owl or osprey or hawk. Your lynx becomes a dog or large badger or wolverine. Your sabertooth becomes a wolf, war-dog, wild dog, or mountain lion or panther. The point being that it's a large change but without any direct gameplay effects and still making sense realistically and you don't have to equip a below-par piece of gear to change the look.
-Minis would get "War Marches" and other traits that would allow them to change the mood of the tunes they play when using their abilities; more somber tunes or more jaunty tunes based on their preference. Also "Free Cries" versus "Cries of Men", "Dwarven Cries", "Elvish Cries" and "Hobbit Shouts". These would change if they just yell wildly, or if they yell a dwarven battle shout, or an elven one or a common speech "For Middle Earth!" one for the shouts, with minor variation in each to prevent becoming too monotonous and annoying.
-All shield users could equip a "Hiker" or "At the Ready" trait that would determine if they store their shield on their back or keep it on their arm when not fighting. "Sword Belt" and "Free Sides" could determine if they store their axe, sword, mace, or club on their back or their hip. "For all to see" or "Boot-knife" or "Hidden Knife" could determine if their dagger is shown on their hip, on their boot, or concealed entirely in their clothing. Two-handers and spears should generally be on the back, but there could be a "Weary" trait that enabled a "/lean" emote that allowed them to lean on their large weapon, much like the male hobbit in the character creation screen.
The point is character customization and immersion without too drastic effect on gameplay and processing. I know this would make the game feel so much more free and fun for those of us who love the feeling of immersion that Turbine has already does well to capture; the freedom is in us being able to create that Man of Dale, trained in the martial arts by Elves of the Wood... or that Hobbit guardian who stands boldly and proudly next to a line of Man guardians, looking no less bold than his larger comrades... or that ranging loremaster and his pet dog... that we've always wanted.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. I've never even tried fishing. I know there's a prompt but I haven't seen any incentive besides cooking, and most cooks can farm their materials. Perhaps some rare items/fish/traits (a loremaster osprey or gull, a champion water flask for power regen, a runekeeper water shield or spell of some kind or ice-walking, a burglar increase in stealth or stealth-movement when walking/swimming in water, etc) or something would provide much more incentive.
2. PvMP feels much too isolated and unrewarding. This is a difficult issue to attempt to fix because there are already some decent incentives and yet it still feels tired and old (possible a zone thing, I'm not sure), but taking a drastic step like world pvmp would be dangerous and would need TONS of thought. So while I don't have any really good suggestions for fixes, I figured it worth mentioning at least.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Freeform item placement in player houses and no more fixed item hooks! Armour dummies and weapon racks for player houses.
2. Stop making trophies/furniture bind on acquire. Im a trophy collector but the amount opf bound items I have now is killing me! Even bind to account would be better.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Kinship neighbourhoods. Provide a better framework for kinships to build there own community. You could have kinship castles and houses owned the members of your your kin that you know and actually see (as opposed to the ghost towns we currently have).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Gearing and deeding alt characters for raiding. Getting traits the first time around was an interesting challenge. Doing it again and again for my alt characters is tedious and soul destroying. It'd be great if traits were tied to accounts or some kind of buff was given to subsequent characters deeding on the same account?
2. Raiding. Raids just take far to long. My time is limited and its really hard to allocate 6 hours for a raid.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Change the hook system to something more flexible. The first reply to this post hit the bullseye so I'm going to quote:
Quote:

Alternatively, re-design the way houses are shaped. The interiors of deluxe + kin halls are so wide and spacious, the small number of hooks can't compete with the large space. Giving you empty rooms that look like a concert hall rather than my living room. (ESPECIALLY hobbit deluxe houses, this looks nothing like a shire home.)
I totally agree about the one BIG room in the middle of the Shire homes - I could see that in an Elf-house, but a hobbit? Not at all.
Also, I echo the wish that housing decorations were not BoA. All my toons can decorate my house, why can't all my toons hold on to the decorations??? And why on earth can't I place a bound housing decoration in my HOUSE chest? /sigh.
2. On a seperate but related note - I would love, love, love if my Red Elven Dresser actually allowed me to put my cosmetic clothing items in it. That would be fantastic and make my home feel much more realistic - how cool would it be to go to my dresser to change my clothes, instead of going to the Vault? Makes much more sense to me. Additionally, armour set racks and weapon racks would be a nice addition too.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
The ability to get cosmetic pets as a non-Loremaster. With cutesy challenges to earn them, or quests, or heck, grinding mob kills, I don't care, I just think it would be very cool. My hobbit would love a cat, please and thanks :)
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
Honestly, this is not an issue for me - I always find the time to do the things I enjoy while I'm online. Since I'm not a big raider, the occasional run keeps me happy with those, and frees me up for skirms and crafting and festivals and questing :)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
This may seem like a minor point, but I feel it is an area that needs improvement. That is, the travel to the expert crafting areas and guilds. It would be great to have some special swift travel or skill to travel to these areas as you work on crafts and guild rep. At the minimum, it should be in place for supreme mastery workers and those with guild kindred. For example, as an elf weaponsmith at a level lower than 50, wanting to work at Thorin's Hall, I have to do a round about travel. This is rather frustrating to have to keep traveling all over like this.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. kinships (housing and budgets - some measure of control/accountability concerning kinship chests, gold for upkeep and consumables)
2. traits/deeds - I understand the whole "we shouldn't give you something for free you should work some for it" principle but this is just nuts... hours and hours and hours just to tier up a virtue? bleh.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
variety in questing/leveling - the NPC sometimes gives us a choice (so quest chain progresses and finishes in more than one way) can give fresh new life to old zones/quests

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Bound barter items (coins, marks, tokens, medallions, branches, leaves, etc.) all add up to used space in our already limited inventory. Maybe a Barter Item page, much like what was done with the mounts or a limbo storage, like with quest items, could be made to free up some storage.
2. Again, Housing. I was very excited when LOTRO came out with player housing, then disappointed to find the 'hook' system within. A game whose housing I absolutely adored was Star Wars Galaxies. A player had complete free range to place any item anywhere in their house. While I do understand the need to limit items/possible placements within a house, I feel that it should be possible to create unique looks within our 'homes'. Just because the picture on the wall is different from another players, it's still in the exact same place as the other players, lending more toward a 'pre-fabricated' look.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
More hobbies. Fishing was a great start, but it seems to have fizzled there. Maybe a 'Collector' hobby where players can find certain items like bugs, books or weapons and maybe display them in their home (also adding to the customization of their home).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. I love the festivals.
2. General exploring, sight-seeing, silly games like tag and 'fluffy' stuff.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Mithril flakes - Why do so many recipes require these? As a woodworker I cannot mine and therefore hardly ever pick up a mithril flake. There are many recipes that I cannot ever make because I never have a flake. Could you either put mithril flakes in scholar nodes or wood, or remove them from non-metal recipes please.
2. Cosmetic clothing - I love the ability to wear cosmetic clothing in this game. However, I hate having to fill up my vault and house chests with them. Could we make/buy wardrobes? A 20 slot wardrobe would be fantastic!
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I like LOTRO as it is. Perhaps swimming/underwater play? I would love to have a look under Lake Everswim (whoops, Evendim).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. What are the party planners for in the housing areas? Could we use them to host a party for our kin/friends?
2. Deeds and Traits - I like the way you can customise your character well in this game with deeds and traits. However, would be much better to make some of them less tedious. Killing hundreds and hundreds of crawlers etc. is quite boring and wastes a lot of time. I can understand why they do, as the deeds should reflect some effort on the part of the player. However, a little less tedious would be good.
