Perfect, thank you for the quick response :D

By the way I still have doubts about the claimed impossibility of transferring characters between US and EU servers.
As far as I know when testing on Bullroarer no problem to copy the characters with both US and EU servers. So you can copy all of the account details that are needed for the transfer on one server, and then you can move your character anywhere?
Copies to bullroarer are also affected, just a lot less frequent. And since it is a COPY, nothing will get lost.
Let me try to explain. The main problem is that there are double unique identifiers in the database code. When codemasters started their database in the EU, they started with the same unique identifiers as the database started in the US, resulting in an enormous amount of double entries - or practically everyone, as just like in the US they started at the same identifier. In a nutshell, if there were 200,000 characters in US and 200,000 characters in the EU, there would be 200,000 double identifiers. That is where the problem lies. If they were to attempt to move one to the other and there is a conflict, both would be lost. The identifier is tied to EVERYTHING else in the database, ranging from what quests you have completed, what your crafting level is, what is in your vault, what is bound to you, what titles you possess, what skills you possess, there are hundreds, thousands of lists and sub-databases that contains that unique identifier. In short, it is so dug in to the database of the game that it can't be changed, and even if it can be changed it would require a lot of work. You would basically have to re-write one database from scratch, starting with a number MUCH different than the other database, and I am talking weeks of game downtime here.
Now to bullroarer: Bullroarer as I said is also affected, but it will ONLY be affected if two characters with the exact same unique identifier copy to Bullroarer. Now, Bullroarer is not used by many, and only during certain beta-test times. It is used by less than 0,5% of the players (based on login numbers from known sites posted here), and the chance that someone with the same database identifier copy to Bullroarer is relatively small. If it does happen, the same problem exist and both characters disappear OR one refuses to copy. (And people have reported not being able to copy certain characters) But since it is Bullroarer, and it was only a copy, it doesn't matter, the database is wiped every time a new patch is tested, so even if you copied your character 6 months ago during update 16 testing, you would not exist now. So the issue also exist there, it is just MUCH less likely to manifest itself (only if two "doubles" copy during the same beta test) and if it does, nothing is lost as it is a copy.
Finally, keep this in mind: If they had a cost-effective way of doing it, they would. There are EU players on US servers, and US players on EU servers, and they probably would be happy to pay money to move vice-versa. If Turbine saw an easy way of accomplishing it, they would have done so years ago and raked in a lot of money. Reality is, that it is NOT easy, and the problems described above might only be the tip of the iceberg Vyvyanne was willing to reveal. They probably did the math already, and even if it was somehow possible, they may only be able to do so at a significant financial loss as the costs to do this will outweigh the income, even if you set a price of $100 per character.
And one more thing: With so many servers closing, I am willing to bet you will find people to play with in every time zone on the remaining 5 for your realm.
One thing I didn't see nobody talk about in tha game is tranfer of LI relics, gems, etc. Everything else has some sort of a physical form. It's either in bags, vault, shared, wallet... Only the relics are something we don't think about I guess. So are they safe?
Does anyone now WHEN you are supposed to be able to transfer?
<sips coffee>
Gah, morning.
Do I need to pack up my house and kin house, or will all items automatically go with me?
By when do we need to have transferred?
I get very confused with the multiple views here.
Thank you.
Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but with this big move it would be beneficial if the vaults and backpacks could stack the items up to 1000 instead of 100. This would really help with the Farming and Cooking supplies
I like this idea for crafting supplies in particular, but I think it's probably too late to implement a code change like that. That said, I would definitely vote for this to be implemented in Update 17, stacking my crafting supplies up to 1000 would save so much bag space and vault space.
This is how it will work:
1) When you initiate the transfer on the character that owns your house, your house will be sold, and the price of the house will be refunded by mail on the new server.
2) All items will go into "escrow" and you can pick them up at the nearest vault.
3) You go and buy a new house on the server, and if I recall all house items will actually return to your house chests automatically.
4) Re-decorate!
One thing you need to be aware of if you are a kinleader: The above process will be exactly the same with a kinhouse, however, all items will be returned to the SAME escrow as the items in your regular house, which means they will be mixed up into one escrow. To prevent this from happening, you may want to take one of your houses, and have a character empty it and keep all items in his/her bags and vault. You can create a new character for this purpose. This way you can keep the escrows for regular house and kinship house separated.
Soon. (tm) (see my signature for the correct indication of when that might be.)
They have found a few issues with the bullroarer testing, so they are preparing a new patch to fix these issues. With this new patch they will probably open up transfers between the 5 remaining worlds in each geographical realm. In short, things have been delayed slightly while they fix things. I don't mind, I would rather have them fix it properly.
not sure these Transfer questions have been answered in previous 51 pages or in other threads...
1) when transferring one or more characters from Server 6-10 to Server 1-5 will each character reappear in exactly the same map location?
example A: if character is standing outside a house in a specific Homestead will it transfer to same location?
example B: if character is standing on landscape in a lvl 50+ hunting area will it transfer to same location?
2) when transferring one or more characters between Servers 1-5 will each character reappear in exactly the same map location?
3) after transferring off dying world will all Swift Travel Routes be remembered?
4) after transferring off dying world will all Lifestone Ties be remembered?
5) can we permanently keep name-1 , name-2 ... example: One-1 , Two-2 , Thing-1 , Thing-2 , WindowsTen-1 :)
6) maybe better question is what will be lost after server transfer.
Muah ha ha ha!
Now is my chance to populate a kin with Wirbel-1, Wirbel-2, Wirbel-3,...,Wirbel-20. :D
Hmm, with alt accounts, maybe even up to Wirbel-101.
Your character will be moved to the EXACT coordinates you were in when you logged off.
That said, if you logged out inside of an instance, or inside a house that you no longer own, you will be moved. That place is either going to be the last place you were before entering the instance or house, or the nearest "circle of life" from your log off location. If for whatever reason the system cannot place you where you left off, whatever the reason may be, you will just be moved to the nearest circle of life.
See above. Every character will be placed on the exact same coordinates they logged off with.Quote:
2) when transferring one or more characters between Servers 1-5 will each character reappear in exactly the same map location?
Yes.Quote:
3) after transferring off dying world will all Swift Travel Routes be remembered?
Yes, and when you use them you will be on the exact same coordinates you used to bind to that milestone.Quote:
4) after transferring off dying world will all Lifestone Ties be remembered?
Yep. As long as you wish. Till the end of the game if you want.Quote:
5) can we permanently keep name-1 , name-2 ... example: One-1 , Two-2 , Thing-1 , Thing-2 :)
If all goes well, nothing. Your vaults, shared storage, housing items, wardrobe, currency, shared currency will all be moved over. There are however a few things that might be lost:Quote:
6) maybe better question is what will be lost after server transfer.
Examples:
- You have an item inside your house (or kinhouse) that is bound to another player on another account, and THAT player has moved away from the server before you. Since it was bound to that player, it will be destroyed. Therefore I would recommend that you return those items BEFORE anyone is allowed to move. (Example: I had a big Tower of Orthanc from someone outside of my kin, and it was bound to him. I returned it to him a week or two ago, but I think he had moved away from the server a long time ago, so it likely got lost. Either way, it would have been lost since it was always bound to him).
- You have mailed an item to a player some time ago, and this player has not claimed it. When you move your character, these items will be lost if the person on the other end does not claim it, ever. They will not be returned to you on another server. Be careful with this, now that mail is set to 6 months, anything you mail will be in someone's inbox for 6 months before it is returned, and you will most likely be long gone from the server. So if you mail something to someone, make absolutely sure they will actually receive it. (I would be careful with that anyways, chances are that people will take advantage of that right before they move, go somewhere where they get a free rename token, and you will never find them again.... so if you get nice tells that say: "sure I will make that first ager for you, just send the symbol and shards", make sure you trust the person because next thing you know they may log off, and split the server.....).
A few questions:
1) Have they announced when free transfers are opening or are they open yet?
2) I have characters on Arkenstone and Landroval. I plan on moving 2 of my Arkenstone charies to Landroval. I noticed that housing storage was part of the shared storage selection (which I interpreted as a one checkbox for all kind of thing). Since I have other characters on Arkenstone I do not want to move any shared storage except for my housing chest and decorations. Since one of the two characters I am moving is the owner of the house will the items in that house be moved over to Landroval without having to select the shared storage checkbox? Or is there a way to select only shared housing storage and not wardrobe, shared inventory etc.? Or do I need to remove items I want to move over to my inventory before I move my character?
3) Same as # 2 but for Kin house instead of personal house
No.
Housing isn't shared. House goes with owner of the house. Do not select shared stuff if that's how you want to split stuff.Quote:

Ditto. Move the kin house owner without selecting shared account stuff.Quote:

PS: Note, if dividing stuff this way, be sure to return bound items from house decorations and/or storage first! Otherwise you may end up with an item on the new server bound to a character that will never be there, that can't be removed from the house chest.
Does anyone know if you can transfer a toon from a closing server to Brandywine if you already have an empty character slot there on Brandywine?
I'm confused - I'm only getting EU servers as 'worlds I can transfer from.' (I'm US, currently on Elendilmir)
